Walmart Beauty Box Review — Fall 2019

IMG-2201

Hi all!  I’m here with a review of a beauty box that I have been getting for a couple of years, but haven’t reviewed it on my blog before.

It’s the Walmart Beauty Box.  It’s a $5 quarterly subscription box. This review is of the Fall 2019 box.  Here’s what I received:

IMG-2169.jpg

Here’s a closer look at the products:

IMG-2172IMG-2173 This is a bright and pretty palette.  I can’t believe I got it in a Walmart box and it was basically free!  I’ve never heard of this brand, but it looks really pretty.

I don’t know if these are shades I would reach for, so I will probably gift this to a friend this Christmas.

IMG-2171.jpg

I was also happily surprised to see a full size lip product!  I haven’t tried this yet, I don’t wear many liquid lips, but I might try the formula out.  And I love the Jergens lotion, plus this is perfect travel size.

IMG-2170 These are more like what I get in my Walmart boxes, masks and supplements.  I won’t use the supplements, but either I will use the mask or I will gift it.

I am very impressed with this month’s Walmart Beauty Box! For $5 — what a great deal!  I might continue reviewing these in the future, if they are fun and exciting.

Do you get Walmart Beauty Box each quarter?  What did you get in your Fall box?

Shop My Stash May 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_0637

Hi All!  I’m back with my May Shop My Stash results!  I enjoy dipping into my collection and using products I haven’t used in a long time, or just haven’t given much of a chance.

My rule with this is if I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room and let someone else enjoy it!

You can check out my first Shop My Stash post for May. Here’s a photo with the palettes open:

IMG_0639

I continued my allergy issues this month, and didn’t wear as much eye makeup as I would have liked to.  So my number one used product was the Smashbox Cali Contour palette!

I love this palette!  Especially the bronzer and powder shades.  I also used the lighter highlight and the blush a lot.  This is such a great product to complete my face makeup.  If I take a trip this year, I’ll take it with me!

Towards the end of the month, my allergies are getting better.  So I did get to wear my eyeshadows.  I would say I wore the BH Festival palette the most.  It has such a variety of colors and I was able to create colorful looks and neutral looks with it.  I also used most of the shades on the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Armed and Gorgeous palette.  It’s a nice palette, but the metallics aren’t as buttery as the BH Cosmetics ones.  I am going to keep all three of these palettes.

I didn’t wear the lipstick or eyeliner as much as the other products.  I found that I didn’t care for the lipstick.  I don’t wear this type of shade that much and it kind of feels drying on my lips.  I am going to re-home it.  The eyeliner is a great formula, but I don’t wear eyeliner that often.  I am going to keep it, though.  It’s such a pretty shade.

This was a pretty successful month!

On to my May empties:

IMG_0875I had a lot of empties this month!  I used up makeup wipes by IT Cosmetics and Ariul, a Korean Beauty brand I found at CVS.  They were both nice.  I used them mostly for removing swatches. I might purchase them again.  I actually think I might to a K Beauty haul this summer at CVS and maybe Ulta.

The Merle Norman cleanser is like a scrub.  It is such a nice exfoliator.  I have a lot of cleansers in my stash, but I might repurchase this eventually.

Same with the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.  I might re-purchase it once I go through the creams that I have.  It’s so hydrating!  The Your Good Skin day cream was oily on my skin, so I won’t re-purchase it.

I loved the Nanacoco Outlash mascara!  I have a bunch of new mascaras waiting to be used, but I would buy this again.

I love the Jergens Wet Skin gradual tanner.  I need to either pick this up or the original formula.    The C.O. Bigelow body wash was nice, but I don’t know if I will pick it up again.

Hydrate Your Skin This Winter With Jergens and Curel

Hey all!  Happy almost New Year’s Eve!  As we Near the end of 2018 and start a new year, I have realized that I need to do a better job hydrating my skin.  It’s so dry because of the cold air, and the fact that I’m not getting any younger!

I was sent some moisturizing Jergens and Curel products for my honest review. Starting with lotions that are used in shower to lotions to use anytime your skin is dry, Jergens and Curel has you covered!

Jergens Wet Skin Shea Oil Body Lotion
Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer With Shea Oil
Jergens Shea Butter Wet Skin Moisturizer ($6.99 USD) is applied to wet skin right after showering, maximizing hydration when skin is most receptive to moisture. The water activated formula absorbs right away as vitamin-rich shea oil leaves you feeling smooth and soft – and without the heaviness and greasy residue of a traditional lotion.

What I think: This leaves my skin so soft and the hydration lasts all day!  This is non greasy and is perfect all year long.
Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer
Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer

Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer ($10.99 USD)After showering or bathing, your pores are open which allows hydration to penetrate deep into the skin’s surface to the source of dryness. That is why Curél Hydra Therapy is applied to wet skin immediately after showering and works with the water on the skin to glide on and immediately absorb. There is no need to rinse or wait before toweling dry as normal. Unlike traditional lotions, it works from within your skin to replenish and repair the moisture barrier. With Advanced Ceramide Complex, the moisturizer replenishes ceramides to help skin retain moisture and prevent symptoms of dry skin from returning. Dermatologist recommended, Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer was granted the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. Apply daily and feel 3x more hydrated.

This one is even lighter than the Jergens in shower lotion, but it also lasts all day long.  These types of lotions are so easy to use and incorporate into my shower routine!

Jergens Flawless Effects Moisturizer
Jergens Flawless Effects Moisturizer

Jergens Flawless Effects Moisturizer ($10.99 USD) — A blurring and perfecting lotion that improves tone, softens imperfections, and provides nourishing hydration for more flawless looking skin.  This velvety lotion with Shea butter and sheer blush pigments instantly smooths skin while noticeably balancing tone in as few as 5 days.

What I think: I have enjoyed testing out this lotion.  It has a balm-like texture and glides on the skin. I noticed that my skin tone looks even and my skin is very smooth when I use this daily.

Jergens Skin Illuminating Moisturizer
Jergens Skin Illuminating Moisturizer
Jergens Skin Illuminating Moisturizer ($10.99 USD) — Enhanced with a subtle touch of shimmer, this highlighting and illuminating formula gives your skin a beachy glow, with hints of peach and gold. Nourished, luminous, lively skin, with just a kiss of shimmer. This silky lotion with pure minerals and freshwater pearl powder transforms everyday skin to standout skin before your very eyes.
What I think: This lotion is very light and creamy.  It has a little bit of shimmer in it, so I think it will be great in the spring and summer, when I show my arms and legs more.
Curel Rough Skin Rescue Smoothing Lotion
Curel Rough Skin Rescue Smoothing Lotion
Sometimes, slathering on moisturizer once a day simply isn’t enough, and that especially applies for people who deal with dry, flaky skin. Think of Curel Rough Skin Rescue Smoothing Lotion as your go-to hydration boost, and apply as needed throughout the day. Made with skin-soothing ingredients like olive oil, this hard-working formula aids in your skin’s natural exfoliating process, and then delivers much-needed hydration, restoring the moisture barrier to prevent dry skin in the future.
What I think: I like to use this lotion when my skin is very dry and flaky.  I’ve noticed that it does loosen flakes and really makes skin look and feel better!
What lotions do you like to use to hydrate your skin?

Gorgeous Glowing Summer Products!

IMG_1699.JPG

Hi All!  August is here and summer is still going strong. I’m not a big fan of the heat and humidity, but I do like the glow of summer makeup and fun colors on my eyes and nails.

Here are some of the products I have been enjoying using:

Rimmel London Wonder Wing Eyeliner Stamp ($6.99 USD) — I have not mastered winged eyeliner.  In fact, I’m pretty terrible at it.  That’s why I was excited to try this liner. The end of the liner has a long triangle shape to stamp a wing.  And that does work, but it takes practice. There is a point at the end to use it as a liner, but it bleeds onto my eye.  My trick is to use the stamp for the wing and connect it with a gel pen or eyeliner pencil.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Summer Solstice Collection features 8 new, exotic shades.  Plus, it’s great to wear on vacation and it lasts and lasts.  Here are the shades:
●       After Altar Take it to the dancefloor post-vows in a soft & subtle light nude
●       Forever Together It’s fate! Raise a glass to a go-with-anything dusty purple
●       Golden Glow Extend your summer glow with this metallic gold
●       I Lava You Whisper sweet nothings donning a perfectly pearly pink (available in a duo pack with Miracle Gel™ Top Coat)
●       Just Wanna Have Sun Enjoy bright, sunny days in a red-orange tint that evokes a tropical sunset (available in a duo pack with Miracle Gel™ Top Coat)
●       Koi Coral Spend days snorkeling in a cool coral shade
●       Ocean Daze Pick a marital-minded mint crème shade for your seaside escape
●       Sea Gals Make it a magical mermaid moment in this shimmery aqua blue
I have the shades Golden Glow, Koi Coral, and Sea Gals. They are all gorgeous on! The Sally Hansen Summer Solstice Collection Retails for $9.99 each and is available at Walgreens.
Jergens Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse ($11.99 USD) —  I love this easy to use self tanner! Just apply this mousse to the body and let dry.  Then you can dress and go.
Color will develop instantly and deepen over the next several hours. Use once for natural-looking color and repeat the next day if deeper color is desired. Availalbe in two shades — Light Bronze and Deep Bronze.
WUNDER2 Perfect Selfie HD Photo Finishing Powder ($22 USD) — I have this powder in the Bronzing Veil.  It is a buildable finish that smooths the skin and has a nice warm tone.  Perfect for a summer glow.  This is also available in a Translucent finishing powder.

WUNDER2 Super-Stay Liquid Eyeliner ($15.95 USD) — This liquid liner is so easy to use.  Waterproof and smudge-proof, the highly pigmented liquid eyeliner has a precision tip to create ultra-thin lines.  It comes in 6 fun shades.  The shades I have are Gold Mine, Red Velvet, Orange Pop and Electric Blue. Purchase WUNDER2 products at Ulta.com or www.wunder2.com

June 2018 Beauty Favorites

IMG_1440

I can’t believe tomorrow is July!  June (and the first half of the year) has just flown by! That means it’s time for my June favorites!

Since this was my birthday month, I got a lot of new products.  Most of them I haven’t used enough to include in my favorites, but a few I instantly loved!

I loved two hydrating sprays this month, the Smashbox So Chill Coconut primer water and the Pacifica Crystal Power Hydro Mist.  They both smell so nice and I like using them before makeup and for refreshing during the day.  The Pacifica one is a bit lower in price, but the Smashbox one is my fave.  It smells so amazing!

I bought the Fenty Beauty lip gloss in a set with a highlighter.  The highlighter is pretty, but not really a shade I wear, it’s kind of peachy.  But the gloss is amazing! It gives such a pretty shine and it’s sticky or goopy.  I wear it almost every day either over lipstick or alone.

The NARS Orgasm mini blush was my birthday gift from Ulta.  I’ve never really tried this and I love the shade. It’s shimmery and a coral-pink shade, which is perfect for summer.

The TATCHA The Silk Canvas Protective Primer was the item I’ve been wanting the most.  It glides on and blurs my pores and fine lines.  Plus it looks amazing under makeup and helps my foundation last.  I don’t use it every day, because I want to make it last, but I love how I look when I do.

PIXI Beauty Jasmine Oil Blend smells amazing!  It smells just like fresh jasmine flowers. I love this at night.  It contains a jasmine flower extract, evening primrose and grape seed oil.  It is so hydrating and it calms my red skin.  In the morning my skin is bright and smooth.

My last favorite is Jergen’s  Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer.  I’ve been using this in the lighter shade (which is in my shower), but I’m ready to go darker and use the medium to tan one shown.  This is SO easy to use.  You put it on when your skin is wet and pat it dry with your towel.

What are your faves for June?

Summer Beauty Products to Give a Glow!

Summer is officially here, but it has been scorching hot in Kansas City for about 6 weeks now! Even though it’s hot, it is also humid so I stay inside most of the summer.  That means any tan or glow I get comes from beauty products!

I have received the following products for my honest review from Josie Maran, Jergens and Hard Candy:

IMG_1427

Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self Tanning Body Oil ($38 USD) — This is a self-tanning body oil that features a blend of 100% Pure Argan Oil for intense nourishment and fast-absorbing 100% Pure Argan Oil Light for a semi-matte finish. Natural DHA helps give skin a healthy, even, natural-looking bronzed glow and the included plush mitt ensures streak-free, blissful application.

I have this in Hippie Beach, which I think is a new scent. It includes notes of lavender, sage, chamomile, and rose. It smells no nice! This has a really nice mitt that makes it easy to blend in. This gives a golden tan that looks so natural, which I love!

Josie Maran Argan Lip Sting Plumping Butter ($23 USD) — The subtle sting and proprietary lip-plumping complex visibly enhance lips for a voluptuous, juicy pout. Soothing manuka honey and moringa butter hydrate for smoother and fuller-looking lips.

The shade I have is Embrace It Honey.  It’s a nice nudes shade.  I feel a very slight sting when I apply, but it’s not a pure plumper because it also hydrates the lips. It’s nice for a natural, pouty look.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil ($48 USD) — There’s only one ingredient in this bottle: 100% pure, 100% organic, 100% natural Argan Oil. This nourishes, conditions, and heals. Absorbs easily into skin, intensely hydrating and leaving behind a dewy glow.

It’s always good to have a bottle of Argan oil on hand, and this one is 100% pure so I know it’s good for my skin.  I use it to remove makeup, on dry skin patches and on the ends of my hair.  Such a multi-tasker!

Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer (#8.99 USD) — Glides smoothly on wet skin to instantly lock in hydration. and I towel dry it in.  It is so easy to use and gives a gradual tan. I love that I pat it dry and I can dress and go! And the color doesn’t rub off of my towel or clothes. Plus it has a light, fresh scent.  Available for Fair to Medium and Medium to Tan skin tones.

Hard Candy Glitteratzi ($6 USD) — Apply to eyes, lips or body. Apply one coat for a sheer layer of sparkle, or two coats for full impact liquid glitter. Available in 7 shades.  The shades I have are Twinkle (pink), Star (gold) and Aurora (white and pink).  These dry down and don’t budge, so I think they are best on the eyes.  I don’t care for drying lipstick, but I love it when my eye makeup stays all day.  Star is more opaque than the other two shades, so it looks amazing on the eyes.  I’ve used the white as face highliter, it’s very glittery! I also might try them on my body or cheekbones.  Glitter is fun to play with, especially in the summer!

What summer products are you loving?

My Beauty Favorites — November 13-19, 2017

The cold weather is really starting in Kansas City.  To keep my skin hydrated an dlooking good through the cold and holiday stress, I’ve been trying some amazing new products!

Below are some great exfoliating and hydrating products that I have been sent for my honest review:

Looking for the secret behind Kim K’s perfect pout? Recently, Kim Kardashian instagrammed herself wearing the Rodial Dragons Blood Lip Mask ($45 for pack of 8) and has admitted her love for them.

These replenishing bio-cellulose lip masks give an instant moisture boost and comfort and soothe the skin for smoother, younger looking lips. Containing restoring and protecting dragon’s blood extract and hyaluronic acid to plump lip volume through hydration, these masks will mold to your lip shape and take your lip game to a whole new level.

What I think:  This took a little bit to apply.  The gel mask was in between two cloth like papers and it’s very thin.  Once it was on, it felt nice.  It does have a slit in between the lips.  It’s nice that I could move my lips, but the bottom part of the gel kept falling down below my lip and I had to pull it up.  After 15 minutes, I removed the mask and my lips and the skin around them were very smooth. And my lips did look a letter fuller.

Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads

Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads ($24.99 USD) — Banish dullness and reveal smoother, more radiant and healthy skin with Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads. Each textured pad is formulated with a blend of natural glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids to gently lift away embedded impurities and spent skin cells. Sugar Cane, Willow Bark and Australian Lime Pearl Extracts deliver natural AHAs to accelerate skin’s own renewal process. Gentle enough for daily use or when skin is tired or dull looking.

What I think: These are used after cleansing the skin.  They are super easy to used, just swipe along face and neck. This leaves skin with a nice glow and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.  I exfoliate a few times a week, but this can be done every day.

Purchase at shop-us.skinfixinc.com

Kneip Mini Iris & Geranium Bubbling Mineral Bath Salt

Kneipp Mini Iris & Geranium Bubbling Mineral Bath Salt ($4, on sale down from $5) — Close your eyes and forget about everything around you! A bath with the KNEIPP® IRIS & GERANIUM BUBBLING MINERAL BATH SALT – “RELAX”, with valuable iris extract and natural essential oil of geranium provides the body and mind with a sense of well-being. Nourishing oil prevents your skin from drying out.

What I think:  This smells amazing, it’s a soothing floral.  It does give a little bit of bubbles, but not a ton.  I love how soft it makes my skin.  This is really great for dry skin and when you want to de-stress!

Purchase at http://www.kneipp.com

Jergens Nourishing Honey Dry Skin Moisturizer.

Jergens Nourishing Honey Dry Skin Moisturizer ($5.99 USD) — Contains naturally hydrating, antioxidant-packed honey. Provides all-day nourishment.  Retains moisture deep within the skin. Refreshes with an invigorating floral scent. Softens skin with a smoothing, non-sticky formula.

What I think: This has a light floral scent which is nice, but a bit surprising because I thought it would be more honey scented.  But it is so hydrating and leaves my skin so soft and not sticky or greasy at all.  It also gives my skin a soft glow.

Available at mass market retailers including Target

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter ($35 USD) — A silky, velvety and ultra-hydrating body butter packed with more than 10 plant oils and extracts whipped to a feather-light texture.  100% Pure Argan Oil nourishes and repairs.  Shea Butter moisturizes skin. Avocado Oil helps repair damaged and dry skin. White Tea Extract infuses skin with antioxidants.

What I think:  I love these body butters!  They are super hydrating, but sink right into the skin.  It comes in unscented and lots of choices of yummy scents.  I also like that the argan oil so good for your skin.  It not only instantly hydrates, it continues repairing skin even after application.

What I think:  This is a wonderful scrub!  I used it on the back of one hand and had to do the other right away to make them even — the first one was visibly smoother!  And the scent is vaguely coffee-ish, but it’s not too strong.

800razors.com 5-Blade Women’s Razor
800razors.com 5-Blade Women’s Razor

We gals take our beauty routines very seriously. Let’s face it, there is always a new product, trend, or regimen we “need” to try. It’s time to simplify our a.m. routines and make them as painless as possible. First step: take the “ouch” out of hair removal. One thing we can all agree on- waxing is one form hair removal that is painful in more ways then one!

To help take the sting out of hair removal, I’d like to introduce you to 800razors.com, the burn-free razor company, as they share Five Expressive Reasons Why Not to Wax:

1)     Yikes! — Waxing at a salon is ridiculously expensive, costing anywhere from $45 – $100 per leg. Not to mention that doesn’t even cover the bikini area, armpits and other body parts we don’t want to share with our hair!!  Oh, and home waxing kits?  We won’t even go there!

2)     Ouch! — Waxing hurts like heck! Having scorching hot wax dripped on your skin to later be yanked out by the roots isn’t an ideal spa day experience. Imagine the ensuing pain that comes with ripping a bandage off… now multiply that by at least 5.

3)     Yuck! — While getting a full leg or armpit wax removes unwanted hair, it often results in bumps, ingrown hairs, rashes, and even pimples. Have sensitive skin? The hot wax can cause unwanted irritation that will leave you with legs you’ll cover up instead of show off.

4)     Nasty! — No one knows how sanitary the salon wax actually is (or the actual salon for that matter!). With waxing, there is always risk of a bacterial infection, skin infection, or even a disease since it strips away the body’s natural protective layer that prevents bacteria from penetrating the skin.

5)     Dang it! — Last minute beach trip or spontaneous first date will never fly since you need at least 3-4 weeks of hair growth for the wax to adhere.  So if you have last minute plans, you’d be out of luck!

So if you’re joining the thousands of women who are saying “heck no” to waxing, what is the simplest, softest, smoothest solution?  800razors.com, the burn-free razor company that offers the “Burn-Free Guarantee” – no skin burn, wallet burn, or American job-loss burn!

What I think:  I have tested their 5-Blade Women’s Razor.  This is a great razor!  It has a lubricating strip all around and a soapbar at the bottom. The 5 blades gives a very smooth shave and it is easy to change the heads.

They recently revealed a new look and introduced two new conditioning solids –Vitamin Infusion and Pure Essence.

The new conditioning solids offer a pH-balanced invisible formula that provides lasting odor and wetness protection while working to reduce irritation and smooth rough patches. What I think:  I have been given the new scents, Vitamin Infusion and Pure Essence.  I really like the soft scent of Pure Essence.  I use a stronger deodorant, but I gave these to my teenage daughters and they love them!  They keep them dry all day.

Get A Safe Glow — Self-Tanner Comparison

For the past few summers I have been enjoying experimenting with self-tanners.  I am very wary of the sun and try to wear lots of sunscreen when I go out.  Plus, I am not much of a sunbather anyway.

It has taken me these few years to get self-tanning right.  It is so easy for skin to become streaky or blotchy after self-tanning.  But if you exfoliate the skin and slather moisturizer on your hands and feet (these places can look uneven), plus use a fab product like the ones below, self-tanners can make you look great!

I have been receiving samples of self-tanners to review for my honest opinion. Here’s what I think of the gradual self tanners and instant self-tanners I have been using.
