February 2020 Beauty Favorites

Hi all! Happy Friday!  February is almost over, which is crazy!  I’m so looking forward to the spring!

Below are my beauty faves for February.  As usual, If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

IMG-2944

I had a pretty good mix of skincare and makeup this month!  Like normal, it’s a mix of stuff I buy, products from beauty subscription boxes and PR.

Here’s a photo with the palette and blush open:

IMG-2942

So pretty! Here’s close up looks at the products:

IMG-2946

Truly Beauty Unicorn Fruit Body Butter— I purchased this in my recent Ulta haul and love it.  It’s a very dense body butter and needs to be warmed up.  When applied it almost turns into an oil and is so hydrating!  It smells delicious, too!

The TellurideGlow Snow Rose Recovery Mask also smells amazing — like vanilla and rose.   This is a powder mask that’s activated with water.  You leave it on for about 10-15 minutes until it dries then washes it off. My skin is glowing a beautiful later!

IMG-2947

Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum — This was my choice for BoxyCharm this month.  Yay me — it was an amazing choice!  I mostly apply this on my neck and it does firm it.  I use it in the morning and night and love it!

Derma E Blue Light Shield Spray — I use this everyday before I work at my computer or phone.  It has amazing ingredients and I love that I am protecting my skin from blue lights!

Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Facial Oil — I use this in my evening skincare routine.  I have been loving facial oils this winter for hydration and glow.  This smells like fresh cut roses and it’s lovely.  Plus it sinks into the skin quickly, which I love.

IMG-2945PÜR Fully Charged Mascara and Fully Charged Mascara Primer — I have been using this duo every day and really love the volume I get with it.  I am a fan of mascara primers and am enjoying this one!

NYX Cosmetics Slide On Lip Pencil in Nude Suede Shoes — I purchased this in my recent Ulta haul on the recommendation of Youtuber Allie Glines. I needed a nude lip liner (I thought, I just found a Steve Laurent one I got in a subscription box in basically the same shade, LOL). It’s very nice and works well with all of my natural toned glosses.

IMG-2948

PÜR Blushing Act Skin Perfecting Powder in Pretty in Peach— If you want a very pigmented peach blush, this is it!  This is such a smooth blush and blends out well, but just use a little at first!  This shade screams spring to me — and I’m so ready for it!

IMG-2949

Colourpop UR A QT Palette — This is another item from my Ulta haul.  I love Colourpop and really wanted this!  It is only available at Ulta.  It’s still available and it’s on sale right now! It’s normally $18, and it’s on sale for $12.60.  I think it might be a limited edition, so if you want it, get it now here.

The second month of 2020 is over, bring on March!

BoxyCharm BoxyLuxe Subscription Box Review — December 2019

IMG-2361Hi all! I received my December BoxyLuxe about of week ago. But, I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a chance to review it. I started subscribing to BoxyLuxe last December and have been a subscriber of BoxyCharm for two and a half years.

The regular BoxyCharm box is $25 a month now. BoxyLuxe is a once-a-quarter upgrade option you can add to your existing $25-a-month Boxycharm subscription. So for an additional $24.99, you’ll get the Luxe box, and be paying a total of $49.99 for that quarterly box.

I saw the spoilers for this box, I just didn’t know what variations I would get.  I did get to pick some of the items I would receive, which I really liked.

The theme for this month is Whimsy. There’s a good mix of makeup, skincare and hair care this month.  Here’s what I received:

IMG-2410

My total this month is a whopping $485.50!  Wow!  Amazing for a $50 box.

IMG-2412

I’m excited about both of these!  I love Rituals and I haven’t tried this shower gel before.  I’m going to put it in my shower after we’ve used up all the holiday shower gels, LOL!

The IGK dry shampoo gets great reviews.  I don’t usually use dry shampoo much, but I will give this a go!

IMG-2413

The bottle of the Elemis oil is so gorgeous!  It is very rose-scented.  I like it, but I hope it isn’t too strong for me.  I have a few oils open now, so I will be trying it later.

The QMS product is so expensive!  It would be great if it worked on my lip lines.  I will be trying this soon.

I am already using the FRESH cleanser.  It’s such an OG cleanser, but I haven’t used it before. I like it so far.  It has a refreshing scent and really cleans skin without drying it out.

IMG-2419

I’ve been trying to decide if I want to keep the Ciate blush, but I think I will.  I don’t really have one in this darker pink shade.  I’m excited to try it!

I am not keeping the metallic lipstick or the liquid eyeliner.  I don’t wear either.  I’ll find someone who will love them, though.

IMG-2421IMG-2422

This is a very pretty palette!  I love how it looks like a book, and the shades are gorgeous.  I’m gifting this to someone, because I have so many eyes shadows that I need to use!  I am actually going to start a new series in 2020 where I review 20 of my current palettes that I haven’t reviewed yet.  I have so many that I bought last year or the year before and haven’t reviewed!

Do you get BoxyLuxe?  What did you get this month and what were your favorite products?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — July 2019

IMG_1142

Hey all! I recently received my July BoxyCharm! I always watch for the spoilers so I basically knew what I am getting. But, there were a few different variations this month.

I’ve been subscribed to BoxyCharm for about a year and a half now and really enjoy it. Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 4-5 beauty items, most of them full-sized.  It is a nice way to try new makeup and beauty tools.

My version is 4. This month I received:

IMG_1137

Koh Gen Do Spa Cleansing Water Cloths — $17

Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask – $35

Butter London Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette – $32

Luna by Luna Lip Gloss in Venus — $18

Luxie Brush Trio – $30

Box value — $132

IMG_1140

img_1139.jpg

This is a really pretty summer palette!  I love the wooden packaging and the nice mirror.  The shades are mostly shimmer and there’s a couple of mattes.  I didn’t swatch it because I don’t know if I’ll keep it or give it away. I’ve recently purchased a few palettes and don’t really need another one.IMG_1144

I love the packaging and the handles of these brushes!  So cool and summery!  The brushes are 246 Precision Crease, 250 Large Eye Blending and 510 Foundation.

I enjoy Luxie brushes.  I may keep these or give them away.

IMG_1141

I am very excited about both of these!  I’ve been wanting to try the Koh Gen Do wipes.  I’ve tried items from this brand years ago and really enjoyed them.  They are all natural and look very fancy!

I love the Elemis products I’ve tried, and I’m excited to try out this mask.  Maybe I’ll do it Sunday.  I’ve been bad about using masks lately and need to get back into them.  This is supposed to nourish, smooth and brighten, for softer, smoother, more radiant skin.  Yes please!

IMG_1146

I’ve never heard of this brand before Luna by Luna, but I really like this gloss!  It’s hydrating and so easy for a bronzey summer look!  I have received so many glosses from boxes lately, but I do really like this one.

I think this is a pretty great box!  I will definitely use the gloss, Elemis mask and face wipes.  I’m still deciding if I will keep or give away the brushes and palette.  But everything is so nice!

BoxyCharm is killing it lately!  Do you get this box?  What was in yours this month?

Shop My Stash May 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_0637

Hi All!  I’m back with my May Shop My Stash results!  I enjoy dipping into my collection and using products I haven’t used in a long time, or just haven’t given much of a chance.

My rule with this is if I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room and let someone else enjoy it!

You can check out my first Shop My Stash post for May. Here’s a photo with the palettes open:

IMG_0639

I continued my allergy issues this month, and didn’t wear as much eye makeup as I would have liked to.  So my number one used product was the Smashbox Cali Contour palette!

I love this palette!  Especially the bronzer and powder shades.  I also used the lighter highlight and the blush a lot.  This is such a great product to complete my face makeup.  If I take a trip this year, I’ll take it with me!

Towards the end of the month, my allergies are getting better.  So I did get to wear my eyeshadows.  I would say I wore the BH Festival palette the most.  It has such a variety of colors and I was able to create colorful looks and neutral looks with it.  I also used most of the shades on the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Armed and Gorgeous palette.  It’s a nice palette, but the metallics aren’t as buttery as the BH Cosmetics ones.  I am going to keep all three of these palettes.

I didn’t wear the lipstick or eyeliner as much as the other products.  I found that I didn’t care for the lipstick.  I don’t wear this type of shade that much and it kind of feels drying on my lips.  I am going to re-home it.  The eyeliner is a great formula, but I don’t wear eyeliner that often.  I am going to keep it, though.  It’s such a pretty shade.

This was a pretty successful month!

On to my May empties:

IMG_0875I had a lot of empties this month!  I used up makeup wipes by IT Cosmetics and Ariul, a Korean Beauty brand I found at CVS.  They were both nice.  I used them mostly for removing swatches. I might purchase them again.  I actually think I might to a K Beauty haul this summer at CVS and maybe Ulta.

The Merle Norman cleanser is like a scrub.  It is such a nice exfoliator.  I have a lot of cleansers in my stash, but I might repurchase this eventually.

Same with the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.  I might re-purchase it once I go through the creams that I have.  It’s so hydrating!  The Your Good Skin day cream was oily on my skin, so I won’t re-purchase it.

I loved the Nanacoco Outlash mascara!  I have a bunch of new mascaras waiting to be used, but I would buy this again.

I love the Jergens Wet Skin gradual tanner.  I need to either pick this up or the original formula.    The C.O. Bigelow body wash was nice, but I don’t know if I will pick it up again.

Are you doing a Shop Your Stash or Project Pan this year?  How’s it going?

2018 Annual Beauty Favorites

Happy New Year!  I am so excited to get 2019 started.

I haven’t done a monthly favorites since October — the end of the year has been so crazy!  But I want to look back on a few of my favorites for 2018. I’ve chosen my favorite makeup in each category I use — and a skincare favorite or two.

Even though I am just picking one (or so) from each category, I needed two photos to capture my faves.  And I am going in order of application:

IMG_2769

The two skincare products I’ve chosen are the Derma E Firming DMAE Cleanser and the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.  I featured the Derma E Cleanser in my most recent Project Pan.  I was proud that I panned it, but I’m also sad that I’m all out!  It really cleanses the skin without drying it out.  And it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.  I just started using the Elemis cream.  It is so beautiful!  I started out using it morning and night, but I’m almost out, so I only use it in the morning.  It’s so nice under makeup.  It’s smooths and hydrates my skin and my makeup applies smoother.

I then like to spritz some Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I discovered it this year and really like using it before pore filling primer.  My favorite has been the Cover FX Blurring Primer.  I’m almost out of it, but I love how well it fills in my pores.  I received it in BoxyCharm and am very impressed bye it. I want to try more primers from Cover FX this year.  I next like to apply BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector before I apply foundation and concealer.  It instantly makes my dark circles look lighter.

My favorite foundation this year is the Physician’s Formula The Healthy Foundation. I have it in the shade LC1. It’s a bit light for me, except for this time of year.  I will probably purchase it in a darker shade for the spring and summer.  It has a natural medium coverage finish which is exactly what I like in a foundation. I have used up a Flower Beauty Light Illusion Concealer and am working on a second one now that I found in my drawer.  I think the first one I used was in Fair and this one is in Light, but they are both so beautiful on.  It’s full coverage but looks very natural. I just panned the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in 10 Fair Light.  I have been using it for most of 2018. It sets the face so nicely and gives a hint of color.

IMG_2771IMG_2773

After I apply my foundation and powder, I bronze with the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer.  I purchased this in the spring and have been using it all year! It applies smoothly and blends out so well.  And the smell is divine! The Natasha Denona Super Glow Highlighter in #1 Fair is one of my favorites of the year.  I purchased this when I was trying to buy the Anastasia Amrezy Highlighter earlier in the year, but it was sold out.  (I have recently purchased it and will be reviewing it soon). The Natasha highlighter is very blinding, but can be toned down with a little powder.

Speaking of Anastasia, I purchased a Blush Trio in Peachy Love earlier this year at an Ulta sale. I love mixing the first and third color to brighten up my light skin.  I also love the bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in On the Mauve for cooler toned looks. To finish off face products, I want to mention the Urban Decay setting sprays, especially the Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray.  I used it up this fall and don’t have the bottle, but it was my summer setting spray.  It feels so nice on and  my makeup lasts all day.

For eye shadow this year, my favorite is the Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette.  I love the quality and the variety of colors. My honorable mention is one I just received in my BoxyLuxe, the Violet Voss Holy Grail PRO Eyeshadow Palette.  I don’t know when this was released, but it’s new to me! I still need to review it, but spoiler alert, it’s gorgeous!

I have short, sparse lashes so although mascara helps, my lashes never looked amazing until I started using the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer under my mascara.  I received a small sample in an Ulta order in Spring and I purchased a full size.  I think it’s time to get another one, because I don’t want to be without!  The Buxom Lash Mascara works perfectly over it and my lashes look long and lush, almost like I’m wearing falsies!

Although my lashes are sparse, my brows are dark and full.  As I age, they are finally thinning out and I have started to fill them in.  I received the L.A. Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil as a free gift the same time I received the L’Oreal lash primer.  The words have rubbed off, so I’m not even sure what the shade is.  I think it’s Blackest Brown.  Whatever it is, it’s perfect for me!  It’s very thin and easy to draw on brow hairs.  And it has a nice spooly on the end.  I’ts only $5.99 so I will be purchasing  new one once I run out.

And lastly is lips.  I am sooooo glad that gloss made a comeback this year!  Light rosy and nude glosses are my favorites.  I love a lot — Buxom, Lorac, Dose of Colors — but my favorite is the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.  It’s a beautiful nude-rose shade and is really hydrating, not sticky at all.  My favorite lipstick is the Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes in Nothing But The Truth.  I also love The Truth and The Whole Truth.  These are the original three in the collection, but there are now 6 more nude shades and I want them!  These lipsticks are creamy and hydrating on.  So nice if you like nude lipsticks!

Whew!  That was a long post!  What did you love this year?  Any winners I should check out?

BoxyCharm BoxyLuxe Subscription Box Review — December 2018

IMG_2661

My first BoxyLuxe arrived yesterday!  I’m so excited! I’ve been a subscriber of BoxyCharm for over a year. The regular BoxyCharm box is $21 a month. BoxyLuxe is a once-a-quarter upgrade option you can add to your existing $21-a-month Boxycharm subscription. So for an additional $28.99, you’ll get the Luxe items, and be paying a total of $49.99 for that quarterly box.

Here’s what I got this month:

IMG_2667

I have to say that my first impression was wow! This box is so much larger than norm BoxyCharm and it was packed full. The products are basically what you need for a full face of color cosmetics, eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, mascara and a lippie. Plus, a beautiful brush set and skin care and a bath and body product!

Here’s a closer look and my thougts of each item:

IMG_2668IMG_2669

When I found out this was in the box, I was so excited!  I was still on the waitlist for BoxyLuxe, but I was so hoping I would get off in time for this box.  I’ve never tried Violet Voss.  I am going to review this on my blog later this month (after I’m done with all of my gift guides).  But I have tried it yesterday and today, and spoiler alert — it’s as gorgeous on as in the palette!

IMG_2679IMG_2680

This is a highlighter and blush palette.  I think the shades are pretty, but it’s strange that the product is in strips and not square pans.  It will be difficult to get face brushes into it.  I will probably give this away to someone for Christmas.

IMG_2673IMG_2674IMG_2685

I’m so happy to receive both of these variations.  My shade of lip gloss is Flaming Hot. It’s a shimmering purpley pink with glitters.  It’s so gorgeous on! It will be really nice for holiday parties and my anniversary, which is next weekend.

The LORAC mascara is so fun.  When you apply the blue primer, your lashes are blue!  Colored mascara usually doesn’t show up on my, but this did.  And with the mascara over it, my lashes had so much volume.  I will keep and use both of these products.  And I love that they are from brands I know and like.

IMG_2676 This is such a gorgeous set!  It includes 8 brushes, and they are so pretty and soft!  I’m good on brushes right now, but this will make an amazing gift for a friend (who hopefully isn’t ready this right now)!

IMG_2677

I was happy to see this as well.  I’ve heard such great things about this cram and am looking forward to using it.  I’m not the biggest fan of the strong scent, but I can get past that if it’s as good as I hear.

IMG_2675

I have tried Spongelle before years ago, I think in a PopSugar box.  They are sponges with body wash in it.  They are so foamy and smell amazing.  A really nice addition to my shower routine. This is in the shape of a star and was made for BoxyCharm.

IMG_2684IMG_2683

It’s hard to tell, but this is a small and very cute straightener. I’m not sure if I will give this away or keep it.  Hmm.  I think I might keep it.  We got to choose between a straightener and an eye shadow palette, so I decided to choose this. I think I might need a small straightener for travel!  It folds up nicely into the felt case, too.

IMG_2681  This makeup bag is very nicely made, but I don’t see myself using it.  I will give it to my 23 year old daughter. I think she will like it.  I will probably give her the charger, too.

So, my first BoxyLuxe was a hit!  Out of the 9 items received, I will keep and use 6 of the products and give away 3.  Wow!  I usually only keep one or two of the 5 BoxyCharm products each month.

I really recommend BoxyCharm and BoxyLuxe so far.  You can subscribe here.

Do you subscribe to BoxyCharm and/or BoxyLuxe?  What did you get this month and what do you think?

Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator — $29.00                                             ELEMIS Papaya Enzyme Peel — $45.00

Summer & Rose Beach Towel — This is a microfiber towel.  It’s very soft, but I don’t know how absorbent it is.  I’ll have to test it out at the pool!

IMG_1259

Pier 1 Imports Marble Ring Dish — This is gorgeous!  I like that it’s very classic looking and will work with all room decor.  The ERTH x Fab Fit Fun “Tu Y Yo” Ring is really cute.  I don’t know if it’s something I will wear, I may give it to my daughter for her birthday.

Foreo Luna Fofo — This is why I purchased the box.  I had a Foreo original size (a little bigger) before and loved it!  It cleans the face so nicely!  This is a brand new model.  It is powered by Bluetooth technology and advanced skin sensors to create a totally personalized profile, which is sent straight to the newly launched FOREO LUNA™ app. I’m excited to try this out!

tarte tarteist™ PRO glow highlight & contour palette — First of all, this smells amazing!  I think it’s supposed to be chocolate scented (I LOVE the scented makeup trend).I’ve just used this a few times.  I like the powder sculpt shade.  It’s a nice cool toned contour.  The top two shades match my skin tone and I really like them. I might try the other two as eye shadows.

I’m almost out of my SPF moisturizer, so I will be using the Coola face sunscreen.  It feels really nice on.  I haven’t tried the Elemis peel yet, but I will this weekend.  I did try the Vasanti scrub, and it left my skin so soft!  I think all of this skincare is amazing for the summer, my skin will be smooth and protected.

I really liked this box.  The value was amazing for $49.99.  The total of what I received was worth $364.99! I think this is the best box I received from them.  I definitely think I will stick around for the fall box.  I might even upgrade to annual to be able to choose more of my items.  We’ll see!

Do you subscribe to FabFitFun?  What did you get this month?

Cartier Baiser Vole

Cartier Baiser Vole ($69 USD 1 oz)  Cartier Baiser Vole is an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner. An original creation from Cartier’s in-house perfumer, Baiser Volé, meaning ‘Stolen Kiss,’ is the expression of love according to Cartier. A story of pure passion told through a strikingly feminine and rare flower: the lily. Baiser Volé is a pure floral fragrance, reflecting all its perfection for the first time: fresh, floral and powdery.

I received a small sample of this in a gift with purchase.  I have been wearing it and I fear that my sample is almost out!  It is such a wonderful clean, light floral scent.  I would wear it every day if I could.
