2019 Annual Makeup Favorites — And One Big Fail!

Happy New Year!¬† I’m excited to share my 2019 annual favorites.¬† This year I’m breaking it up into two categories — Makeup and Skincare.

I love sharing my favorite makeup products.¬† I’ve included one in each category, and I will also lists some honorable mentions.¬† I usually don’t include products I don’t like, but I have one extreme fail this year that was a favorite on many people’s lists.¬† So read to the end if you want to know what foundation didn’t work for me at all!

IMG-2541.jpg

These are my favorite and most used products of 2019.¬† If I have reviewed or mentioned them before, I’ll link that post.

IMG-2543IMG-2544

Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 Palette — I purchased a few new palettes this year and got a couple in PR that I really like. This one stood out to me because I really love Tati and wanted to support her, and I’ve never seen a palette laid out like this.¬† Gorgeous!

Honorable mentions are the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette.¬† I used it a lot this year.¬† It’s such a nice, neutral palette.¬† A new one that’s a favorite is the Colourpop Going Coconuts palette.¬† I will be reviewing that one soon. And my favorite colorful palette is the Natasha Denona Sunrise palette.¬† It’s so gorgeous! ¬† ¬†

IMG-2546IMG-2547

NARS Makeup Your Mind Eye & Cheek Palette — So this palette holds my favorite bronzer, Laguna and my favorite blush formula from the year.¬† I love all three of the blush shades in this — Luster, Orgasm and Dolce Vita.¬† Beautiful!

Looking back on my monthly favorites for 2019,¬† I really didn’t have many blushes or bronzers in there.¬† In November I purchased the Colorpop Pressed Powder Blush in Enchanted Mirror and the Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder in 01 Sun Light. I have been loving both of those.¬† I would love to find more favorites in these categories this year.

IMG-2542

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer — I purchased this in the spring Ulta 21 Days of Beauty, but just started using it in the fall.¬† I used it up in 2 months!¬† I will be purchasing again.¬† A primer I loved for the warm weather is the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence.¬† I received it in a BoxyLuxe this year and loved how smooth it made my skin!

Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation — This isn’t a new foundation, but it was new to me this year.¬† I love that it gives a natural finish with a nice coverage.¬† It doesn’t look like I’m wearing makeup. Honorable Mentions are the Pur 4-in-1 Love Your Selfie Foundation and the Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation.¬† Both look so nice on my skin and don’t settle in my pores or lines.¬† I do need both of them in a darker shade, but I think they are nice, too!

Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer — This is one of the best concealers I have ever used!¬† It’s easily blendable and gives great coverage.¬† Plus it stays in place all day.¬† I do not have a runner up in 2019, because nothing compares.¬† Lets see if there’s a better one for me in 2020…

Urban Decay The Ultimate Brush Off Translucent Loose Setting Powder — I love the texture of this powder.¬† It sets under my eyes and all over my face flawlessly.¬† And it doesn’t sit in my pores and lines or look cakey.¬† I’m not a big fan of the packaging and hope they repackage it into a normal container without a brush.

Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder is a close second.¬† I purchased it in the Spring Ulta 21 Days of Beauty and used it up in a few months.¬† I will be purchasing it again once I go through some powders I have.¬† It is light and doesn’t settle into pores.

IMG-2545

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter — This is an oldie but goodie!¬† I rediscovered this highlighter in 2019.¬† It can look soft and natural on or be built up to be blinding.¬† I do have a few other highlighters, but I don’t really love any other of mine right now.¬† I think I’ll try to find a perfect highlighter in 2020!

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara — What an amazing mascara! I alsways have the issue of my mascara smudging under my eye, even when I don’t put mascara on my lower lashes.¬† This is a tubing mascara, so it only comes off when I take it off with just water! Amazing! I also love the L’Oreal¬†Unlimited Length and Lift Mascara.¬† It gives amazing length and builds up to be really voluminous.

Wander Beauty Frame Your Face Micro Brow Pencil — I got this in an Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. I no longer get that box, but I’m happy I received this brow pencil!¬† It is the perfect consistancy for me, not too soft or too waxy.¬†Benefit Cosmetics Precisely My Brow Pencil Ultra-Fine Shape & Define is my runner up for brows.¬† It’s insanely pigmented, so a little goes a long way.¬† But it works so well on.¬† I love the micro pencils when doing my brows.

Pop Beauty Pout on Point Lip Liner — I have had this liner for a couple of years and it is almost out.¬† The color I have is Nude.¬† It’s not too creamy, so it stays on all day.¬† But it does glide on and blend like a dream!¬† I don’t have another lip liner I love as much, so I might have to make a Pop Beauty order soon.¬† I am always on the lookout for an amazing lip liner that doesn’t cost too much.

Iconic London Lip Gloss — I love this lip plumper!¬† The shade I have is Nearly Nude.¬† It’s lightly plumping and looks gorgeous over a lip liner or any lipstick. I don’t wear lipstick that much any more, usually just a lip liner with a gloss over it.¬† Although this is very nice, I am on the lookout for my perfect sheer gloss.¬† I need to use up ones I have before I will let myself try some more.

And now, my (probably controversial) fail for 2019:

L'Oreal Fresh Wear Foundation

L’Or√©al¬†Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation — Almost all reviews I saw for this last year were positive.¬† And there was a lot.¬† The only two reviews that weren’t as positive were ladies around my age that said it made them look like they were wearing foundation instead of just having beautiful skin.

For me, this foundation was just awful. It settled heavily in my pores and fine lines.¬† I tried so many different primers, serums and combinations of those to try not to look like a cakey mess when I wore it.¬† They didn’t work. Finally (before I gave it away), I had one day that I used an oil under it along with creams and primers, and it only looked slightly bad.¬† Almost passable.¬† LOL!¬† I gave it away after about 10 uses.

It was so sad because I was hoping to love it like so many others.  But I did find a perfect (for me) foundation, the Catrice one.

Did you try this foundation?  What did you think?

—————————————————————————————————————————————

I found so many amazing products in 2019!¬† I might have purchased too much, because I’m still working through them.¬† I still get BoxyCharm, BoxyLuxe and BoxCharm Premium, but I have got rid of my other subscriptions.¬† I am also going to try to purchase items I need in 2020.¬† And of course, a few I want.

Stay tuned for my skincare favorites of 2019 and I think I’m doing an annual Project Pan this year.

Shop My Stash December 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

Hi All!¬† I’m back with my December Shop My Stash results!¬† I enjoy dipping into my collection and using products I haven’t used in a long time, or just haven’t given much of a chance.

My rule with this is if I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room and let someone else enjoy it!¬†You can check out my first Shop My Stash post for December.

IMG-2209

I’ve had a lot of fun playing with these products this month!¬† And I have definitely decided to keep all of these products!

I usually wear a lip pencil and lip gloss everyday, but I do enjoy these lipsticks.  They are matte, so I wear a gloss over them.  They are very long wearing.

Here are the palettes open:

IMG-2512.jpg

The ABH Sultry palette was my favorite product in my stash this month.¬† I haven’t really used it much before this month.¬† I love it!¬† It’s so gorgeous.¬† All the looks I made with it have been every day looks with a touch of glam.¬† The shimmers/metallics take all looks to the next level!¬† I used most of the shades in this.

IMG-2513

I also used the Urban Decay Elements palette a few times in December.¬† I like this palette, especially the purples and bronzes.¬† I don’t really wear the blues, greens or the matte pink. The gold in this palette is so gorgeous!¬† I’m going to keep this for now, but if it takes me until next holiday season to use it again, I will pass it on to someone else.

IMG-2514

I used the highlighters in this Ofra x Madison Miller palette a lot. I would often forget to wear the blush, but when I did, I liked it.¬† It’s not my favorites shade, but it blends out nice and wears well.¬† The highlighters are so glowy!¬† I will keep this and see if I reach for it.

Now, on to my empties!

IMG-2509.jpg

I have a good amount of empties for December.  Mostly skincare as always.

IMG-2510

Out of these products, I can see myself repurchasing the Smashbox Primerizer (on sale) and the Ordinary Hyaluronic acid (when I am needing it).¬† I have other hydrating serums that I am using now.¬† The Primera water cream was nice, but I have a lot of moisturizers open and in my stash, so if I purchase it, it won’t be for a while.¬† The Meaningful Beauty SPF moisturizer is okay.¬† It’s a bit greasy and I’d like to find a less heavy sunscreen this year.

IMG-2511.jpg

I LOVE both of these mists.¬† The Skin & Co one is great for setting makeup and the Botanics mist is one I use after washing my face as a toner.¬† I’m not going to purchase new ones write now because I have lots of mists to use up.

The Primera essence is so lovely!¬† I may be repurchasing it.¬† I have been working on the Soap & Glory Righteous Butter for a long time!¬† I do like it, but don’t have to have it.¬† I’m using other body creams right now.

December was another successful Shop My Stash and I used up lots of good products!

I’ve decided I’m going to do the same style Shop My Stash this year.¬† From time to time I might add in some complexion products.¬† We’ll see.¬† I was thinking of doing a Project Pan, too.¬† But I’m not sure.¬† What do you think?¬† Do you shop your stash or do Project Pans?

September 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hi all!  It’s almost October, which means it’s time for my September favorites!

Below are my beauty faves for September. As usual, If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

IMG_1590

My favorites this month include a good mix of makeup and skincare, plus a hair care item!

I’ve been trying out loads of new skincare the last few months and love to spotlight my favorites each month.  Plus, a few of these favorites are from subscription boxes.

IMG_1593

I received the Glow Recipe Pineapple-C Bright Serum in my BoxyLuxe for September. I use it every morning after cleansing and toning. It really brightens my skin!

The Primera Alpine Berry Water Cream is so hydrating.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion has made such a difference in my fine lines.

IMG_1592

I purchased the Smashbox Primerizer during the spring Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty. I didn’t want to wear it in the summer heat and humidity, but now that it’s cooler, I’m really enjoying this.  It smooths and hydrates the skin.  Perfect before foundation to create a moisturized base.

I also got the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Scents in Creamy Coconut in the Ulta’s Spring 21 Days. I only have about a third of this left.  I like the soft coconut set and it performs just like the original spray.

The IGK Hair Mistress Hydrating Balm was also included in my September BoxyLuxe.  This is a gorgeous balm that works to smooth damp or dry hair. I use this every day to tame my frizzies.

IMG_E1594

The Wander Beauty Frame Your Face brow pencil was in my September Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. The shade is Dark Brown and it works well for me.  The pencil is a bit of a dry formula and takes a little pressure to use, but I like the effect I get with it.

IMG_E1595IMG_E1596

This pretty face palette is the Ofra x Madison Miller Miller Squad Midi Palette. I also received this in September Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. The blush is really nice for fall and I enjoy the highlighters, although they are very similar to each other.

IMG_1597IMG_1599

I’ve had the Sigma Beauty Enchanted Eyeshadow Palette for a couple of months.  I’ve posted about it on my Instagram (fortyflirtyfab), but I haven’t reviewed it here yet. I do plan on reviewing it soon.  It is unfortunately sold out on the Sigma Beauty website, but I have found it on Amazon here.

This is a stunning palette!  You can create ethereal or even very dramatic looks with it.  The shadows blend nicely.  Some of the shimmers need to be built up, but that’s fine with me.

———————————————————————————————————————————That’s my September favorites.  Bring on October! What have you been loving this month?

Shop My Stash May 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_0637

Hi All!¬† I’m back with my May Shop My Stash results!¬† I enjoy dipping into my collection and using products I haven’t used in a long time, or just haven’t given much of a chance.

My rule with this is if I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room and let someone else enjoy it!

You can check out my first Shop My Stash post for May. Here’s a photo with the palettes open:

IMG_0639

I continued my allergy issues this month, and didn’t wear as much eye makeup as I would have liked to.¬† So my number one used product was the Smashbox Cali Contour palette!

I love this palette!¬† Especially the bronzer and powder shades.¬† I also used the lighter highlight and the blush a lot.¬† This is such a great product to complete my face makeup.¬† If I take a trip this year, I’ll take it with me!

Towards the end of the month, my allergies are getting better.¬† So I did get to wear my eyeshadows.¬† I would say I wore the BH Festival palette the most.¬† It has such a variety of colors and I was able to create colorful looks and neutral looks with it.¬† I also used most of the shades on the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Armed and Gorgeous palette.¬† It’s a nice palette, but the metallics aren’t as buttery as the BH Cosmetics ones.¬† I am going to keep all three of these palettes.

I didn’t wear the lipstick or eyeliner as much as the other products.¬† I found that I didn’t care for the lipstick.¬† I don’t wear this type of shade that much and it kind of feels drying on my lips.¬† I am going to re-home it.¬† The eyeliner is a great formula, but I don’t wear eyeliner that often.¬† I am going to keep it, though.¬† It’s such a pretty shade.

This was a pretty successful month!

On to my May empties:

IMG_0875I had a lot of empties this month!  I used up makeup wipes by IT Cosmetics and Ariul, a Korean Beauty brand I found at CVS.  They were both nice.  I used them mostly for removing swatches. I might purchase them again.  I actually think I might to a K Beauty haul this summer at CVS and maybe Ulta.

The Merle Norman cleanser is like a scrub.  It is such a nice exfoliator.  I have a lot of cleansers in my stash, but I might repurchase this eventually.

Same with the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.¬† I might re-purchase it once I go through the creams that I have.¬† It’s so hydrating!¬† The Your Good Skin day cream was oily on my skin, so I won’t re-purchase it.

I loved the Nanacoco Outlash mascara!  I have a bunch of new mascaras waiting to be used, but I would buy this again.

I love the Jergens Wet Skin gradual tanner.¬† I need to either pick this up or the original formula.¬† ¬† The C.O. Bigelow body wash was nice, but I don’t know if I will pick it up again.

————————————————————————————————————

Are you doing a Shop Your Stash or Project Pan this year?¬† How’s it going?

Shop My Stash — May 2019

img_0637.jpg

Hi all!¬† Happy May! It’s time for a new month and a new Shop My Stash! I’m always excited to play with new (again to me) products that I either haven’t used in a while or haven’t used much at all! My goal is to get more use out of the products I have and to see if they are something I want to keep.

IMG_0639

As you can see, I haven’t used these much at all!¬† I chose some brighter colors this month, along with some neutrals, of course! Here’s more info on all of the products:

IMG_0647IMG_0648

This is the BH Cosmetics Festival Palette that came out last year.¬† There’s a newer one out now, but I haven’t picked it up.¬† I need to get some use out of this one! I only used it a few times last year and need to give it some love!¬† I can do neutral as well as colorful looks with this, which I am happy about.¬† But I am going to make myself dip into the colors!

IMG_E0649IMG_E0650I won the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill vault¬†in a giveaway, and haven’t used the palettes much at all.¬† This is the Armed and Gorgeous palette. I think the color scheme is pretty, and not usually what I wear.¬† I usually go for pinks, browns and purples.¬† The is very warm and it should be fun to try it out.¬† Those golds and bronzes are calling to me!

IMG_E0645IMG_E0646

I purchased this Smashbox Cali Contour palette in the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty.¬† I’ve been wanting it since last year, but I’m glad I waited because it was half off! I have used this a few times and really enjoy it.¬† I can see using this every day!

IMG_0640

These are the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Roach and the Julep Full Coverage Cream Lipstick in Pirouette. I haven’t been wearing eyeliners for well over a year.¬† I usually use shadows on my lower lash and I only tightline my top lash line.¬† I thought it might be time to try a liner again.¬† this one is so creamy and I love the color!

I used to be a Julep Maven, but since they cancelled the subscription, I haven’t used much of their products.¬† I found this in it’s box still and thought I would try it out.¬† It’s a pretty mauve shade.¬† ¬†¬†IMG_0641¬†Sorry for the blurry swatches! The left is the liner and right is the lipstick.¬† We’ll see how I like them!

So these are the products I am playing with this month.¬† It sure looks like I am ready for summer with such bright and shimmery shades! I’ll share at the end of the month how much use I got out of these products and how I enjoyed them.¬† I’m going to try not to purchase much this month (Ulta has been taking my money with all of their sales), so I should be using a lot of my existing products.¬† Plus, June is my birthday month, and I will probably treat myself then.

————————————–

Are you doing a Shop My Stash this month?¬† Are you on a low or no buy?¬† Let me know how it’s going!

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty — Spring 2019 Haul!

Hi all! I had a fun time purchasing a few items from Ulta’s Spring 21 Days of Beauty sale.

Looking at the photo of what I purchased, I picked up useful items like primers, powder, setting spray and a contour kit.¬† It’s funny that I didn’t get any fun color cosmetics, but these are items I needed and ones I’ve been wanting to try.¬† It’s hard to pass up such great deals!¬† And, I will be purchasing from Ulta’s Spring Haul this week and next week, and I might get a palette or two…

I picked up:

IMG_0397

Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder (Translucent)

Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder (Translucent)

Smashbox The Cali Contour Palette

Lancome Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused-Mascara Primer

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot (Painterly (nude beige))

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer

ULTA Youthful Glow Primer Serum

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Scents (Creamy Coconut)

All of these amazing products were daily steals so they were half off. I’ve especially been wanting to try the brand Beauty Bakerie, the Too Faced powder, the MAC paint pot and especially the Smashbox Cali Contour Palette.¬† I’ve had my eye on that since last year!

So far, I have tried some of these products.  The standouts for me so far are the contour palette, the mascara primer, and the Beauty Bakerie powder.  I will continue testing products and maybe do a review of some or all of these later.

Are there any products you would like to see a full review of? Did you pick up anything during the sale?

Shop My Stash March 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_3083

Hi All!¬† Can you believe it’s almost April?¬† It’s a nice, warmer day today (yesterday it snowed in Kansas City), and Easter is in a few weeks!

I’m here with the results of my March Shop my Stash.¬† I had a fun time using products that I haven’t either used in a while or it’s newer to my collection and I want to give it a go.¬† If I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room!

My most used item from my stash was the Dose of Colors Desi x Katy Friendcation Eyeshadow Palette.¬† I used the mattes in the palette all month long!¬† Like I suspected, the metallics are too glittery for me.¬† When I use them, all I see is glitter!¬† And that’s not my everyday look.¬† I am going to keep it, though, because the neutral mattes are so nice!

I used the tarte Rainforest of the Sea highlighting eyeshadow palette vol. III’s shimmer shades with my Friendcation palette.¬† They are very pretty, but kind of boring.¬† All the shades are so similar.¬† I might end up passing this one on to my daughter.

The Laura Geller  Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Palette is so pretty, but the shades are a bit dark for my skin.  I might keep it and try again in the summer if I tan, or pass it along.

I am not a fan of the Becca Glow Gloss in Malibu Soleil.¬† The shade isn’t very flattering on me.¬† I probably won’t keep it.¬† ¬†¬†

The Julep Eyeshadow 101 in Champagne Shimmer is so pretty!¬† I haven’t really given it a chance before.¬† It’s nice for the inner corner, under the brow or even all over the lid. I paired it with the Friendcation palette and used it all over my lid — it was gorgeous!

Here are my empties for February and March:

IMG_0348

I just have four empties for the last two months. I didn’t post empties in February because I only had the Smashbox spray then. I have been trying lots of new skincare, so I haven’t used up a lot.¬† I’m almost out of a few more skincare items, so I should have more next month!

This month I used up the Derma E Firming DMAE Eye Lift, The Smashbox Photo Finish So Chill Coconut Primer Water, Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Chamomile and Lavender and Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub.

The Derma E eye cream is amazing!¬† It really smooths my eye area.¬† I also really love the Derma E scrub.¬† It makes my skin so soft!¬† The two sprays were also so nice.¬† Especially the Smashbox So Chill Coconut.¬† I’m sad that it was a limited edition.

This was a fun month. I found a couple of products I will continue to use and a few I’ll move out of my collection and let someone else love them!

I will be posting my April Shop My Stash tomorrow. Do you like to shop your stash?

2018 Annual Beauty Favorites

Happy New Year!  I am so excited to get 2019 started.

I haven’t done a monthly favorites since October — the end of the year has been so crazy!¬† But I want to look back on a few of my favorites for 2018. I’ve chosen my favorite makeup in each category I use — and a skincare favorite or two.

Even though I am just picking one (or so) from each category, I needed two photos to capture my faves.  And I am going in order of application:

IMG_2769

The two skincare products I’ve chosen are the Derma E Firming DMAE Cleanser and the Elemis¬†Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.¬† I featured the Derma E Cleanser in my most recent Project Pan.¬† I was proud that I panned it, but I’m also sad that I’m all out!¬† It really cleanses the skin without drying it out.¬† And it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.¬† I just started using the Elemis cream.¬† It is so beautiful!¬† I started out using it morning and night, but I’m almost out, so I only use it in the morning.¬† It’s so nice under makeup.¬† It’s smooths and hydrates my skin and my makeup applies smoother.

I then like to spritz some Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I discovered it this year and really like using it before pore filling primer.¬† My favorite has been the Cover FX Blurring Primer.¬† I’m almost out of it, but I love how well it fills in my pores.¬† I received it in BoxyCharm and am very impressed bye it. I want to try more primers from Cover FX this year.¬† I next like to apply BECCA¬†Under Eye Brightening Corrector before I apply foundation and concealer.¬† It instantly makes my dark circles look lighter.

My favorite foundation this year is the Physician’s Formula The Healthy Foundation. I have it in the shade LC1. It’s a bit light for me, except for this time of year.¬† I will probably purchase it in a darker shade for the spring and summer.¬† It has a natural medium coverage finish which is exactly what I like in a foundation. I have used up a¬†Flower Beauty Light Illusion Concealer¬†and am working on a second one now that I found in my drawer.¬† I think the first one I used was in Fair and this one is in Light, but they are both so beautiful on.¬† It’s full coverage but looks very natural. I just panned the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in 10 Fair Light.¬† I have been using it for most of 2018. It sets the face so nicely and gives a hint of color.

IMG_2771IMG_2773

After I apply my foundation and powder, I bronze with the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer.¬† I purchased this in the spring and have been using it all year! It applies smoothly and blends out so well.¬† And the smell is divine! The Natasha Denona Super Glow Highlighter in #1 Fair is one of my favorites of the year.¬† I purchased this when I was trying to buy the Anastasia Amrezy¬†Highlighter earlier in the year, but it was sold out.¬† (I have recently purchased it and will be reviewing it soon). The Natasha highlighter is very blinding, but can be toned down with a little powder.

Speaking of Anastasia, I purchased a¬†Blush Trio in Peachy Love earlier this year at an Ulta sale. I love mixing the first and third color to brighten up my light skin.¬† I also love the bareMinerals¬†Gen Nude Powder Blush in On the Mauve for cooler toned looks. To finish off face products, I want to mention the Urban Decay setting sprays, especially the¬†Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray.¬† I used it up this fall and don’t have the bottle, but it was my summer setting spray.¬† It feels so nice on and¬† my makeup lasts all day.

For eye shadow this year, my favorite is the Urban Decay¬†Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette.¬† I love the quality and the variety of colors. My honorable mention is one I just received in my BoxyLuxe, the Violet Voss Holy Grail PRO Eyeshadow Palette.¬† I don’t know when this was released, but it’s new to me! I still need to review it, but spoiler alert, it’s gorgeous!

I have short, sparse lashes so although mascara helps, my lashes never looked amazing until I started using the L’Oreal¬†Voluminous Lash Primer under my mascara.¬† I received a small sample in an Ulta order in Spring and I purchased a full size.¬† I think it’s time to get another one, because I don’t want to be without!¬† The¬†Buxom Lash Mascara works perfectly over it and my lashes look long and lush, almost like I’m wearing falsies!

Although my lashes are sparse, my brows are dark and full.¬† As I age, they are finally thinning out and I have started to fill them in.¬† I received the L.A. Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil as a free gift the same time I received the L’Oreal lash primer.¬† The words have rubbed off, so I’m not even sure what the shade is.¬† I think it’s Blackest Brown.¬† Whatever it is, it’s perfect for me!¬† It’s very thin and easy to draw on brow hairs.¬† And it has a nice spooly on the end.¬† I’ts only $5.99 so I will be purchasing¬† new one once I run out.

And lastly is lips.¬† I am sooooo glad that gloss made a comeback this year!¬† Light rosy and nude glosses are my favorites.¬† I love a lot — Buxom, Lorac, Dose of Colors — but my favorite is the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.¬† It’s a beautiful nude-rose shade and is really hydrating, not sticky at all.¬† My favorite lipstick is the Lipstick Queen¬†Nothing But the Nudes in Nothing But The Truth.¬† I also love The Truth and The Whole Truth.¬† These are the original three in the collection, but there are now 6 more nude shades and I want them!¬† These lipsticks are creamy and hydrating on.¬† So nice if you like nude lipsticks!

Whew!  That was a long post!  What did you love this year?  Any winners I should check out?

Ipsy Glam Bag Plus Review — October 2018

IMG_2274

Hi all!¬† I’m so excited that I received my first¬†Ipsy Glam Bag Plus ($25 USD) –October is the first month for the Glam Bag Plus.¬† It is a box that will always include 5 full-sized items. The first month has six items but I believe each month after that will have 5.

I had looked in my Ipsy account and saw what I was getting.¬† At first I wasn’t that excited, but the more I looked, the more I got excited for it!¬† For $25 a month, this is such a good bag!

Here is what I received:

IMG_2280

IMG_2290.JPG

Each quarter, Ipsy Glam Bag plus subscribers will get a premium makeup bag in addition to their 5 items. (That means you‚Äôll receive a box of 5 beauty items every month, but a glam bag only once every 3 boxes.)¬†This one is a soft pink color and has burgundy accents.¬† It’s really nice quality.

I don’t wear liquid liner or do wings.¬† If I wear a liner I like to smudge a brown or plum liner on my lash line.¬† I don’t wear black because it’s too harsh on me.¬† So I’ll probably be giving this to my daughter.

I enjoy tarte mascaras, but I haven’t tried this one yet.¬† It claims to define lashes without clumps.¬† And you can build up to lengthen and volumize. I’m looking forward to trying it!

This is one of the products I was really excited about!  This is an exfoliating mask that is supposed to be gentle.  I do have sensitive skin and hope it works well for me.

I have never tried Morphe makeup before, and have just one brush from the brand. So I was very excited to try this.¬† I’ve tried it a couple of times and am trying to figure out if I like it. It’s very metallic and shows texture.¬† I do like the color, though.

This was another item I was looking forward to trying.¬† I haven’t tried anything from this brand either.¬† This is so hydrating and the shade is beautiful! This is a total win!

This is an item I wasn’t really excited for and i was thinking of giving it away — and then I saw Andrea Matillano swatch this on You Tube.¬† And I changed my mind!¬† It is gorgeous.¬† I am hoping to review it and I will swatch it if I do.

So, maybe I wasn’t as excited when I first saw what I was getting, but I really liked this box! I will keep the eye shadow, mascara, mask, and lip butter.¬† I might keep the highlighter, or give it away and I will giveaway the eyeliner.¬† And I will keep the pretty bag!

Did you get Ipsy Glam Bag Plus this month?  What did you think and what did you get?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review –August 2018

IMG_1789

I received my August BoxyCharm so early this month. I’m very excited about that!

Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 5-6 beauty items, most of them full-sized.¬† It’s an amazing way to try new makeup and beauty tools!

This month I received:

I was so happy to get these eye masks! I have seen them reviewed and thought they looked fun!  They are gold foil on the outside and a cellulose fiber that delivers hyaluronic acid and more! They look so cute on and when I removed them, my eyes looked amazing!  Very smooth, bright, and my dark circles were reduced! Love!

The style of these lashes are Siren.¬† I don’t wear lashes, but they are pretty.¬† The band is really thin and I think these would actually fit my eyes.¬† These might come in handy later, so I’ll hang on to them.

This Adesse New York oil includes¬†Vitamin E, shea oil, sweet almond, and jojoba oils.¬† This has a light scent.¬† I haven’t used it yet because I have a cuticle oil I forget to use. I think I might give this away.

After I received this palette, I told my daughter who is leaving for college that I had a nice, neutral palette for her.  Then I showed her this.  She laughed so hard!

This palette is very good quality.  It has sturdy packaging and a really nice mirror. The colors are obviously very bright.  I am going to try them out soon and may do a review of the palette alone.

I will have swatches of this, the brow cream and the lipstick below.

Bang Beauty¬†Chocolate Eyeliner — I don’t usually use eyeliner.¬† I use shadow to line my eyes.¬† But I do like gel eyeliner.¬† I don’t wear black often, so this might be nice for every day. I will try this out.¬† (But I don’t think it will work with the bright Laura Lee palette)!¬†¬†IMG_1798

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Action, vivid orchid cream.¬† This is such a creamy lipstick that feels so good on! And the color is so pretty.¬† But it’s not really for me.¬† I like nudes or pinks.¬† I have tried it out, so I will keep it.¬† Who knows, I might use it (and this will go with the Laura Lee palette!)

Here are my swatches:

On the left is the eyeliner.  I should have applied it with a brush because it was hard to do with my finger.  You can see the color and it was really difficult to remove so it  would probably last a long time on the eyes.

The lipstick is next.¬† It’s really pretty.¬† The next 6 shades are Laura Lee’s palette. From left to right is Issa Party, Damage Control, Karaoke, Dranks, Bottoms Up and Hungover.¬† I have tried one shade, Hungover in my crease, outer corner and under my eyes.¬† And it was gorgeous!¬† So I’m kind of excited about the crazy colors.

I think this month was okay.¬† I will use all of the eye masks and I’ll try out the palette and eyeliner.¬† I’ll keep the lipstick or give it to my daughter.¬† I’ll hold on to the lashes just in case I need them.¬† I will probably give the nail oil away.¬† I usually don’t keep as many products out of my BoxyCharm. So while I’m not blown away by anything, I will use some of it.

What do you think of these products?  Do you get BoxyCharm?  What did you receive?
