April 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hi all!  Can you believe April is almost over and May is on it’s way!

With my severe allergies, I didn’t wear a lot of makeup this month.  But I was using a few skincare products that soothed my skin and was testing out some products I purchased in Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty.

Here are the products that I have been using.  If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

For skincare, I have been using the Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream every day and night. It’s moisturizing and gentle on my dry, irritated eyes.  The IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Neck Cream has been keeping my neck smooth and tight.  But. my favorite skincare discovery is the G.M. Collin Hydramucine Optimal Serum.  It contains a combination of high and low hyaluronic acid to provide moisture while an advanced hydrating formula prevents water loss, improves water circulation within the skin, stimulates ceramide production, and boosts skin’s ability to regulate moisture levels.  It makes my dry, uncomfortable skin feel instantly hydrated.  And it sinks right in and doesn’t leave skin greasy.  I’ve been using it day and night!

My fave complexion products include the Beautyblender Selfie Shield primer with SPF 38.  I received all three new primers for review, and I am enjoying them all.  This is my current fave of the three because my sensitive skin has not been liking traditional sunscreen.  This is a dry oil and sinks right into the skin without irritating it.  I also have been loving my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick SPF 25.  I have it in the shades 1.5 Birch and 2.0 Vanilla. This is creamy and has a nice medium coverage.  I can layer it on for more of a full coverage.

I picked up the Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder (Translucent) the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot (Painterly (nude beige)) and the Lancome Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused-Mascara Primer during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale.  I use all three every day now and love them all.  The powder sets without making my skin look cakey.  The paint pot primes my lids very nicely and my shadow lasts all day! I have always loved mascara primers.  It’s nice to use a high end one at half price!

My favorite mascara, which is sadly almost at it’s expiration date is the Nanacoco Outlash Mascara.  It makes my lashes very long and gives some volume and separation, too.  It’s not too bold, so it’s my perfect every day mascara.  The lovely Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette is my favorite palette find of the month. It’s a perfect everyday neutral palette that can be smoked up for evening looks.  And I have also been loving the Urban Decay HI-FI Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss. It is shiny without being sticky, and it smells and tastes minty!

What are you April beauty favorites? Any fun new finds this month?

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty — Spring 2019 Haul!

Hi all! I had a fun time purchasing a few items from Ulta’s Spring 21 Days of Beauty sale.

Looking at the photo of what I purchased, I picked up useful items like primers, powder, setting spray and a contour kit.  It’s funny that I didn’t get any fun color cosmetics, but these are items I needed and ones I’ve been wanting to try.  It’s hard to pass up such great deals!  And, I will be purchasing from Ulta’s Spring Haul this week and next week, and I might get a palette or two…

I picked up:

Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder (Translucent)

Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder (Translucent)

Smashbox The Cali Contour Palette

Lancome Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused-Mascara Primer

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot (Painterly (nude beige))

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer

ULTA Youthful Glow Primer Serum

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Scents (Creamy Coconut)

All of these amazing products were daily steals so they were half off. I’ve especially been wanting to try the brand Beauty Bakerie, the Too Faced powder, the MAC paint pot and especially the Smashbox Cali Contour Palette.  I’ve had my eye on that since last year!

So far, I have tried some of these products.  The standouts for me so far are the contour palette, the mascara primer, and the Beauty Bakerie powder.  I will continue testing products and maybe do a review of some or all of these later.

Are there any products you would like to see a full review of? Did you pick up anything during the sale?

I Won a Giveaway!

Hi all!  Sorry for the dark photo above, but I wanted to share the amazing giveaway I won from YouTuber Allie Glines.  She has a really fun e-magazine called the Afterparty.  It’s $3.99 a month and you can check it out here.

Allie has a giveaway each month and all subscribers are entered.  And I won for September.  I just receive  my prize and thought I would share.

I received:

Influencer by Brittany Hennessy                                                                                           Capture Your Style by Aimee Song                                                                               Dermablend Original Loose Powder                                                                                     Thrive Causemetics Lashed in Kristy                                                                                         Olay Whip Active Moisturizer                                                                                                       Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Drop Dead Red                                         Lancome L’absolu Lacquer Lipstick in Smile and Shine                                                 Morphe X Jaclyn Hill The Vault Collection

I’m excited about all of these prizes, but especally the books and the Vault.  I have been wanting to read more books on social media and I have been thinking about picking up one of the palettes to test the formula, but couldn’t decide which one. Here’s a photo of all four palettes:

The palettes are (clockwise) Armed and Gorgeous, Dark Magic, Ring the Alarm and Bling Boss.  I have tried all of them once except for Dark Magic.  I like them okay, but they take some blending to get a nice look.  I am going to keep playing with them and then do a review.

Have you tried any of these palettes?  What do you think?

I am so excited about my prizes and want to thank Allie Glines for the fun giveaway!

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale — September 2-22 2018

Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty are here! I am so excited for this! This sale happens twice a year, in the Fall and in the Spring.  I usually purchase a few things each sale (I try to keep it reasonable).  Here are the links to my Spring 2018 and Fall 2017 hauls.

I have already placed an order today and plan to go in at least once or twice and maybe make a second order online.  I’ll do a haul post at the end of the sale when I get every thing!

I couldn’t really find photos online, so I’ve photographed my add!

Here are all of the beauty steals that you can get by day.  These are available in store and online.  There are also online deals each day in addition to these, so check the sale out on Ulta’s website!

The products in this ad that I’m thinking of purchasing are the Benefit Hula Lite bronzer on the 5th, the Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara on the 9th, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette on the 16th and the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray on the 22nd. Plus online deals and some Hot Buys and Ulta Beauty deals below.

I placed an order today and I got an online only deal, the Lime Crime Venus Eyeshadow Palette in Venus III. All three Venus palettes are on sale online today for $19 (reg. price $38).  The Venus III is a purple toned palette and it looks really pretty. I also purchased a couple of Hot Buys:

The Hot Buys are good for every day of the sale (or until they sell out).  I purchased an Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio in Peachy Love and a Dose of Colors  Lip Gloss in Can You Not.

I haven’t tried anything by Dose of Colors, and have heard that their lip products are really nice. If I like it, I might buy another! I’m also interested in trying the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape foundation in the hydrating formula and the Smashbox contour kits.

Ulta Beauty is also having special deals each week:

img_1957.jpgThese are great deal!  I added a Liquid Concealer to my order because I’ve heard it’s amazing! I will probably check out the Liquid Lipsticks and Bath bombs if I go into Ulta this week.  In week two, I’m interested in the Foundation Stick and in week three, the Brow Pencils, the Mascara and the Hand Soap.

I have a lot of skincare I’m testing now, but there are some skincare Hot Buys if you’re interested:

So there’s the sale!  I will be posting my haul after the sale is over, and I’ll show you what I get!

Are you planning on picking anything up in the next few weeks? What are you interested in?

Birthday Beauty Gifts!

Hi all!  Now I’m calling this Birthday Gifts, but most of them are gifts I bought myself!  I spoiled myself for my 50th and am really enjoying most of the products!

On the left is my birthday gift from Sephora.  I chose the Sephora Beauty Insider Bite Beauty Birthday gift —  There was also a GlamGlow one and an online Bumble and Bumble gift. This included a  Mini Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai, Mini Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glacé, and Agave Lip Treatment Sample Duo. I have tried the lip crayon, and it’s really pretty on. The lipstick is a little dark for me, but I am looking forward to try the lip treatment duo.

Fenty Beauty Bomb Baby Mini Lip and Face Set — This is one of the products on my birthday wish list.  I LOVE the lip gloss and wish I just got a full size of that.  It so gorgeous on and isn’t sticky at all.  I use it on it’s own or over lipstick. The highlighter is nice, but it’s a little dark for my skin tone. It’s the  Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Hu$tla Baby, a peachy-champagne shimmer. It looks amazing on my eyes, though.

TATCHA The Silk Canvas Protective Primer — This was the item I wanted the most, so I bought it as a gift to myself! It is a “velvety priming balm of pressed silk that smooths and makes makeup last longer while keeping it out of skin, helping to prevent clogged pores and breakouts.”

I’ve used this a few times now and really like it.  It smooths out my skin so well and my makeup looks amazing over it.  I don’t use it everyday, because it is SO spendy, I want to make it last!  The only thing is I can’t wear my new Coola sunscreen under it or it will ball up and come off.  It’s gross. So I need to find another spf moisturizer to wear under it.

The one product I purchased and don’t really care for is the Milk Makeup KUSH High Volume Mascara — It supposedly has heart-shaped fibers that lock onto lashes for long-lasting volume, length, and curl. “Conditioning cannabis oil fuses to lashes for thickness without fallout, while also working to fill the hollow, heart-shaped fibers with formula for a double dose of volume. Hemp-derived cannabis oil continues to hydrate for healthier-looking lashes, even after you’ve removed your mascara.”

That’s fine.  I really don’t care about the cannabis oil part of it, I guess if it’s good for my lashes, that’s nice.  What I don’t like is that it smears under my eyes every time I wear it.  It’s so bad!  My Cover Girl Last Blast looks and wears better than this mascara!  It gives good volume, but I also need length. I am going to try this one more time with a primer under it for more length and a waterproof mascara on top so maybe it won’t smear.  We will see.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer — I’m sure everybody knows what this is!  I have been wanting to try it for a while now.  When the foundation came out and didn’t have a very inclusive shade range, I kind of lost interest, but I thought I would try it now.  And it’s as good as everyone says.

Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette — I got a Sephora gift card from my daughter and decided to purchase this, because the shades are so gorgeous!  I will be reviewing this in a day or two, but spoiler alert, I LOVE it!

On the right are a few deluxe samples.  The Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream and the Lancome Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara were each 100 Insider points and the Dior BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundation was a gift with purchase with $35 spent. And I got a Clinique foil pouch that looks fun to try.

Let me know if you would like a more in-depth review of any of the other products (besides the palette ’cause it’s coming!).  I also have purchased a couple of BH Cosmetics palettes and the new ColourPop foundation, reviews to come along with some new pr products! So I have lots to do in the coming weeks!

GlossyBox Review — September 2017

I received  my September GlossyBox in the mail.  This is my last box in my 3 for $30 deal.  I did cancel with them.  They are normally $21 per month .

Now through September 30th, use coupon code FALL15 to get your first GlossyBox for only $15! And you’ll get your next two boxes for $15 each, too!

GlossyBox ships to the US and Canada.

These are the items I recieved:

Lancôme Paris Advanced Génifique Sensitive Antioxidant Serum                  Lancôme Paris Visionnaire Advanced Multi-Correcting Cream SPF20                 Manna Kadar GLO                                                                                                         Morgan Taylor Nail Polish                                                                                      Pureology Clean Volume Shampoo                                                                        Pureology Clean Volume Conditioner                                                                    Freeman Beauty Infusion Charcoal & Probiotics Cleansing Clay Mask

The Manna Kadar Glo, the Morgan Taylor polish and the Freeman mask were all full sized.  The rest were samples.  On with the review!

These were products I hadn’t tried before.  For the serum sample, you push the blue product and it flows into the clear, and you shake it up and open.  I only needed a little, so this sample will last a while!  It it very watery and absorbed right away.  I haven’t seen a difference in my skin yet, but I will keep using it.

The sunscreen is really nice, it has a soft scent, and is creamy, not heavy or greasy.

This is a full sized illuminator, the Manna Kadar Glow.  I haven’t tried it yet, because I think I might give it away for Christmas.  I don’t use cream highlighters.  It is supposed to give a youthful glow and dewy finish, and you can mix it with foundation or moisturizer.  Actually, it might be nice mixed with a primer.  Hmm. I might try it after all!

The shade of Morgan Taylor polish I received is Magician’s Assistant.  Its a pinky/greige/lavender cream.  This is so pretty!  I’ll definitely be wearing this.  I love light colors and nudes.

Pureology is a great brand.  It uses natural ingredients effectively.  The shampoo is supposed to gently cleanses fine, colour-treated hair without stripping colour. Provides light, airy fullness with lifted root that lasts all day.

I won’t use these now.  I will keep them for a trip or to give away to someone who needs travel sizes.

This mask is full sized, and a drugstore product.  I haven’t tried it yet, but it smells nice.  I don’t use a lot of masks, I’m more of a scrub girl, so this might go in my giveaway pile.

This box was okay, better than the last two I received.  I will use the nail polish and the Lancome products.  The rest I’ll probably give away.

Do you subscribe to GlossyBox?  Are you happy with them?

Travel Beauty Products To Take on Vacation!

I am getting ready for a trip to Ireland with my family in a few weeks.  As a beauty blogger, I have been trying to decide which wonderful travel-size products to take with me.

Below are some of my current favorites.  I am excited to use these during my travels:

Juara Candlenut Obsession Trio
Juara Candlenut Obsession Trio

Juara Candlenut Obsession Trio ($28 USD) — This trio features travel friendly sizes of Juara’s Candlenut Body Polish, Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel, and Candlenut Body Crème to leave your skin baby soft, silky smooth, and lastingly nourished.

Candlenut Body Polish– Exfoliate and soften skin in one easy step with the Candlenut Body Polish. This 2 in 1 product is made with Indonesian Candlenut Oil and Crushed Walnuts; this creamy, soap-free scrub hydrates and reveals fresh glowing skin.

Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel– Gently cleanse and pamper skin with the Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel. This sulfate-free foaming shower gel cleanses without stripping and nourishes skin with Candlenut Oil leaving skin velvety smooth and refreshed.

Candlenut Body Crème — Moisturize, soften and smooth skin with our famous Candlenut Body Crème. This velvety, rich body cream provides the nourishing benefits of Indonesian Candlenut Oil as well as Illipe Butter, Rice Bran Oil and Avocado Oil to intensely hydrate and help maintain a youthful elasticity keeping skin supple and soft.

What I think:  I love the Candlenut scent! It is so warm and creamy.  The products all work together to hydrate and soften the body.  I am definitely taking these with me on my trip.  My skin will look amazing!

From Lancôme:

Absolue Premium βx Day Cream ($50 for .5 oz) — Pamper your skin with the luxurious Absolue Premium Bx Day Cream with SPF. Intensively nourishing, Absolue Bx quenches even the driest of skin without being greasy. The velvety texture is light, smooth, and fast-absorbing so it is ideal to wear under makeup. Absolue Premium Bx is infused with Pro-Xylane and the replenishing Bio-Network™ to replenish and rejuvenate skin’s appearance while recapturing the qualities of younger-looking skin: firmness, elasticity, and clarity. Recover your skin’s “golden glow” with Absolue Premium Bx.

Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover ($15 for 1.7 fl. oz.) — This award-winning phenomenon gently whisks away all types of eye makeup, even waterproof. Simply shake to activate the bi-phase formula that leaves the eye area perfectly clean. The lipid phase lifts off eye makeup, while the water phase contains special emollients to refresh and condition skin without a greasy residue.

Définicils Natural Yet Noticeable Lashes ($13 for .14 oz) — For lavishly long, perfectly defined lashes, this iconic award-winning mascara provides the ultimate in separation. Carefully selected polymers coat each lash from root to tip, to help lengthen and outline each lash for unmatched definition. This best-selling mascara’s unique brush applicator has specially grooved bristles that hold the perfect amount of product for gradual, even application every time.

What I think: I love taking a little luxury with me when I travel. All three of these products are so useful on a trip. I only use day cream with SPF and the Absolue Premium Bx is also very hydrating.  It also sinks right into the skin, which is important before applying makeup.

The Bi-Facil is a classic Lancôme favorite.  Bringing this and some cotton pads will remove stubborn eye makeup. And the Définicils really lengthen and define the lashes.

Talika Bio-Enzymes Mask After Sun
Talika Bio-Enzymes Mask After Sun

Talika Bio-Enzymes Mask After Sun ($12 for one mask) — Talika Bio Enzymes Mask Hydrating is made of bio cellulose, a 100% natural fiber used as artificial skin in reconstructive surgery, offering a concentration in active ingredients 10 times higher than any other material. Perfectly molding the contour of the face like a second-skin, Talika Bio Enzymes Mask Hydrating infuses the skin with a powerful combination of natural ingredients with high moisturizing and repairing properties: Water-harnessing sugar help restoring the skin barrier while sodium hyaluronate rejuvenates the skin and natural plants extracts (Arnica, Chamomilla Recutita, Gentian, Absinth…) soothe the skin, restore moisture and reduce the sensation of tightness.

What I think: I love cellulose masks because they really stick to the face and infuse the skin with the wonderful serum.  This felt very nice on my raw skin (too much retinol) for a while.  After about 15 minutes, it stung a bit so I had to remove it.  Once I did and rubbed in the serum.  My skin felt better and was smooth.  Hours later it looked even better! Great to stick in your bag when going to the beach this summer.

Lancôme Paris Grandiose Mascara
Lancôme Paris Grandiose Mascara

Lancôme Paris Grandiose Mascara ($32 USD) — Professional makeup artists bend mascara stems to coat every lash. With Grandiôse, Lancôme brings this expert application technique to women everywhere thanks to the world’s first Swan-NeckTM Wand. Curved at a 25 degree angle, the Swan-NeckTM Wand mimics the curves of your face, grabbing lashes at the base to fan them out and avoid any unnecessary smudging.

The result? Ultimate Coverage – from corner to corner and root to tip. One more detail: the wand’s three dimensional curve seals air into the bottle and automatically mixes the formula in from the sides every time you open the bottle, so it always stays fresh.

What I think: I was so excited to try this mascara.  The design of the bottle and brush are so different, but really easy to use. The short, rubber brush catches all of the lashes. I thought it might give me a dramatic look, but it is more of a natural, everyday mascara.  Maybe, with more practice it will lengthen and thicken my short lashes!

Available at Lancome.com and Lancôme counters nationwide.

What I think: I have been testing the Sugar Scrub ($38 12oz) and the Three Whishes Body Butter ($24 5oz).  I love the tangy, lime scent.  It really smells like key lime pie!  The sugar scrub erases all dry skin and the yummy body butter leaves it so smooth.  I also love that Whish uses natural and organic ingredients.

Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencils
Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencils

Lipstick Queen’s Chinatown Glossy Pencils ($20 each) The three new shades are pictured below from left to right:

Cameo – a soft nude

Catalina – a flirty, fun yet subtle pink

Pink Bluff – an earthy nude pink

What I think:  I love these soft colors!  I have tried this pencil before in a burgundy, but I love lighter nudes and pinks more and I love all three of these colors.  I think they will work well for fall, too.  Especially the nude.  Wear it with a smudgy black eyeliner on eyes.  Cool!

The new shades are now available for purchase at Space NK and ULTA stores nationwide, as well as on lipstickqueen.com.
