H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Body Collection

IMG_1541

Hi all!  I was excited to receive a bunch of new H2O+ Beauty products! The products I am reviewing today are an amazing smelling bath and body collection.  The H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Body Care Collection features Verbena Extract, Coconut Milk, Coconut Water, and Vitamin E to nourish and soften skin.

Here are the products I received for my honest review:

H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Foaming Body Exfoliator ($10 for 6 oz) – A foaming scrub that transforms skin from dry and rough into silky and luxuriously soft just as the gel transforms into a foam as you lather.  Coconut Oil and Verbena extract combine with Coconut shells to gently exfoliate, buffing away dull skin and leaving you with an all over glow. This gives a pretty vigorous scrub.  I love that it foams.  It leaves my skin so soft and smooth. Perfect before self-tanning.

H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Body Wash ($18 for 12.2 Fl oz) — These Coconut Water enriched suds feature Coconut Water, Vitamin E and Verbena extract, cleansing and refreshing skin. I love the scent of this whole collection, it’s so fresh and bright!  This is a really bubbly body wash and works well as a bubble bath!

H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Body Butter ($22 for 8 Fl oz) — This features Coconut Milk and Verbena extract, to nourish and soften skin.  It’s very hydrating and is softly scented.  It’s really nice to use after the bath.  I love layering my fragrance!

H2O+ Beauty Coconut Verbena Shimmering Body Moisturizer ($18 for 5 Fl oz) — And speaking of layering scents, this fun moisturizer transforms from a foam texture into an oil as it melts into the skin. It’s infused with Coconut Oil and Verbena extract. I like that it’s not greasy.  It does leave a shimmer, which I don’t usually wear, but I know one of my daughters will love this!

Over all, I really love this collection.  The scent is perfect for the summer and the products are really hydrating.

Have you tried H2O+ Beauty?  What products do you like from them?

Beat The Heat With Fun Summer Products!

IMG_1532

Yes, it’s still summer and it’s still HOT!  And I have more amazing summer products to share!

I received the following products for my honest review:

NaturaBrasil Acai Body Scrub ($25 USD) — this is a gentle way to slough off dry skin after being at the pool or beach. Or, before self tanning. And, it smells amazing! This scrub has natural açaí seeds and sugar, as well as moisturizing shea butter and olive oil.

Love Sun Body SPF 30 Lightly Scented ($32 USD) —  This is a 100% natural mineral sun screens. It is very lightly scented with tiare & vanilla. It’s kind of hard to detect the scent. It claims to absorb with a matte finish that doesn’t feel sticky.  It is VERY thick.  And white.  I have to really rub it in to get the matte finish.

Certified by EcoCert Cosmos Natural and is recipient of EWG’s highest ranking. Love Sun Body is available in two sizes and scents at Credo, Amazon and lovesunbody.com.

Cricket’s wide tooth Ultra Smooth Coconut Conditioning Comb ($6.99 USD) helps gently detangle wet hair and is great for pulling a hair mask through to the ends. Coconut oil and keratin protein are baked into the plastic of the comb which also helps to smooth and de-frizz from the summer humidity. Available at Target and Ulta.

My favorite products of this bunch are these bright Morgan Taylor Lacquer:

IMG_1537.JPG

This is a celebrity nail tech favorite and has 130+ phenomenal colors that are available  at Ulta. These are perfect for pedis or manis this summer!

These shades are Girls Love Buoys (on my nails and in my hand), Tokyo a Go Go, Orange Crush, Go For The Glow and Gotta Have Hue.  These are so bright and gorgeous, but they don’t last long, so make sure to use a bottom and top coat!

What are your current favorite summer beauty finds?

Julep Maven July (& June) 2018 Subscription Box Review

IMG_1490

I am excited to share what I received from one of my favorite (and my oldest) subscription box,  Julep Maven.

This is the JuIy box, but I realized that I never photographed and reviewed the June box! So I found the products and I will include the photo at the end of this review.

I have been a Julep Maven subscriber for 5 years now.  And I love it!  You don’t have to take a box each month, you can skip if you want to.  Which is so nice if I’m short a month or if I’m not feeling any of the items.  The cost is $24.99 a month ($19.99 a month with a 3-month subscription).

I also love that you can customize your box.  When I first started subscribing, I could choose from curated boxes, but now, I get to curate my own! Here are the products I chose:

IMG_1492

Saundra Polish ($14) — Color description: Azure Seas Holographic Shimmer.  There were a bunch of fun shimmers this month, but I have a TON of nail polish, so I just chose one this month. Their formula is 5-free and vegan-friendly.

Rethink Your Shower Hydrating Body Cleansing Oil ($38) — An ultra-hydrating, lightweight body cleansing oil that reaches deep to dissolve impurities and prep skin for exfoliation, then rinses away to reveal silky, nourished skin. This smells amazing! Kind of citrusy.  But, I haven’t tried it yet.  It’s in my beauty room/office and I keep forgetting to take it into my bathroom.  I am excited to try it, though.

Don’t Leave Your Brows At Home – Cool Brown — Two-in-one tool with brow powder and an angled brush to fill in and define your brows. I can’t find this on the website right now.  It wasn’t a new product this month, but one I wanted to try.  I have been playing with it and am liking it okay.  I’m more used to an eyebrow pencil.

And this is what I chose last month:

IMG_1495

Roberta polish ($14 USD) — Color description: Breezy Turquoise Shimmer

Two It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse ($20 each) in ULTAmate Nude and Blush.  Blush is shimmery, which I didn’t know until I purchased it.

Here are swatches:

IMG_1391 I really like ULTAmate Nude.  It’s so pretty on!  These are so nice, they don’t dry down all of the way and aren’t transfer proof.  But I don’t like drying lippies, so these are right up my alley!

I love this box and will continue subscribing! I love that I can choose from new or older products depending on what I want and need.

What did you choose for your June and July boxes if you are a maven?

Brand Review — Studio Selection line at Dollar General

img_1364.jpg

Hi all!  I am reviewing a new line of beauty products at Dollar General called Studio Selection.  It is a range of products that includes skincare, body care and hair care. The products are dupes of other brand name products, and let you know on the package what products they claim to be like.

I received a gift card to purchase a few products for my honest review.  I got all of the Studio Selection products that were in stock at my local store at the time, but there are a lot more to choose from online. Here is what I picked up:

Studio Selection Makeup Remover And Cleanser Micellar Cleansing Water ($4 USD for 13.5 Oz) — this claims to gently refresh and hydrate skin while removing makeup. Won’t clog pores and is dermatologically & clinically tested. Formula is free from: Alcohol, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. Compare to Garnier SKINACTIVE Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser.

I really like this.  I haven’t used the original Garnier, but I have used the Garnier waterproof makeup micellar cleanser with the blue cap and hated it.  It was so greasy.    This one cleans without leaving a greasy residue.  I think for the price point, it’s a good buy.

Studio Selection Age Daring Body Wash ($2.80 for 18 oz) — Studio Selection Age Daring Body Wash cleans and moisturizes aging skin. This formula contains Vitamin E and with daily use, helps to revitalize and soften skin over time. Use this rich body wash to fight dryness due to aging skin. This compares to an Olay body wash.

I like the value of this.  You get a lot of product for $2.50.  It does cleanse well, but I didn’t notice any extra moisturization.  Plus, the scent was very soapy, and I wasn’t a fan of the fragrance.

Studio Selection Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($2.95 12 Oz) — helps moisturize your skin for up to 24 hours. This formula also helps to prevent and protect dry skin, providing temporary relief of scaling and chapping that can accompany dry skin. *Compare to Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion.

I gave this to my daughter who has eczema.  It does help her dry skin and she has been enjoying it.  It does not have a fragrance. Like the other products, the value is great!

Studio Selection Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Makeup Removing Facial Towelettes ($3.50 USD 25 Ct) — With skin conditioning agents to help moisturize and soothe, suitable for blemish-prone skin, leaves skin feeling smooth and refreshed.  They compare to the Neutrogena grapefruit towelettes.

These are my favorite items from this haul.  They smell really nice and are so refreshing.  They remove my makeup and clean my skin.  I think they are definitely worth the $3.50 and I will purchase them again.

So, I think the prices on all of these are great.  When I go back to purchase more wipes (and the micellar water), I will check out some of the other wipes and products they have.

Visit www.dollargeneral.com to learn more about the products available and to purchase them.

Do you shop at Dollar General? Have you purchased anything from this line?

June 2018 Beauty Favorites

IMG_1440

I can’t believe tomorrow is July!  June (and the first half of the year) has just flown by! That means it’s time for my June favorites!

Since this was my birthday month, I got a lot of new products.  Most of them I haven’t used enough to include in my favorites, but a few I instantly loved!

I loved two hydrating sprays this month, the Smashbox So Chill Coconut primer water and the Pacifica Crystal Power Hydro Mist.  They both smell so nice and I like using them before makeup and for refreshing during the day.  The Pacifica one is a bit lower in price, but the Smashbox one is my fave.  It smells so amazing!

I bought the Fenty Beauty lip gloss in a set with a highlighter.  The highlighter is pretty, but not really a shade I wear, it’s kind of peachy.  But the gloss is amazing! It gives such a pretty shine and it’s sticky or goopy.  I wear it almost every day either over lipstick or alone.

The NARS Orgasm mini blush was my birthday gift from Ulta.  I’ve never really tried this and I love the shade. It’s shimmery and a coral-pink shade, which is perfect for summer.

The TATCHA The Silk Canvas Protective Primer was the item I’ve been wanting the most.  It glides on and blurs my pores and fine lines.  Plus it looks amazing under makeup and helps my foundation last.  I don’t use it every day, because I want to make it last, but I love how I look when I do.

PIXI Beauty Jasmine Oil Blend smells amazing!  It smells just like fresh jasmine flowers. I love this at night.  It contains a jasmine flower extract, evening primrose and grape seed oil.  It is so hydrating and it calms my red skin.  In the morning my skin is bright and smooth.

My last favorite is Jergen’s  Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer.  I’ve been using this in the lighter shade (which is in my shower), but I’m ready to go darker and use the medium to tan one shown.  This is SO easy to use.  You put it on when your skin is wet and pat it dry with your towel.

What are your faves for June?

Summer Beauty Products to Give a Glow!

Summer is officially here, but it has been scorching hot in Kansas City for about 6 weeks now! Even though it’s hot, it is also humid so I stay inside most of the summer.  That means any tan or glow I get comes from beauty products!

I have received the following products for my honest review from Josie Maran, Jergens and Hard Candy:

IMG_1427

Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self Tanning Body Oil ($38 USD) — This is a self-tanning body oil that features a blend of 100% Pure Argan Oil for intense nourishment and fast-absorbing 100% Pure Argan Oil Light for a semi-matte finish. Natural DHA helps give skin a healthy, even, natural-looking bronzed glow and the included plush mitt ensures streak-free, blissful application.

I have this in Hippie Beach, which I think is a new scent. It includes notes of lavender, sage, chamomile, and rose. It smells no nice! This has a really nice mitt that makes it easy to blend in. This gives a golden tan that looks so natural, which I love!

Josie Maran Argan Lip Sting Plumping Butter ($23 USD) — The subtle sting and proprietary lip-plumping complex visibly enhance lips for a voluptuous, juicy pout. Soothing manuka honey and moringa butter hydrate for smoother and fuller-looking lips.

The shade I have is Embrace It Honey.  It’s a nice nudes shade.  I feel a very slight sting when I apply, but it’s not a pure plumper because it also hydrates the lips. It’s nice for a natural, pouty look.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil ($48 USD) — There’s only one ingredient in this bottle: 100% pure, 100% organic, 100% natural Argan Oil. This nourishes, conditions, and heals. Absorbs easily into skin, intensely hydrating and leaving behind a dewy glow.

It’s always good to have a bottle of Argan oil on hand, and this one is 100% pure so I know it’s good for my skin.  I use it to remove makeup, on dry skin patches and on the ends of my hair.  Such a multi-tasker!

Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer (#8.99 USD) — Glides smoothly on wet skin to instantly lock in hydration. and I towel dry it in.  It is so easy to use and gives a gradual tan. I love that I pat it dry and I can dress and go! And the color doesn’t rub off of my towel or clothes. Plus it has a light, fresh scent.  Available for Fair to Medium and Medium to Tan skin tones.

Hard Candy Glitteratzi ($6 USD) — Apply to eyes, lips or body. Apply one coat for a sheer layer of sparkle, or two coats for full impact liquid glitter. Available in 7 shades.  The shades I have are Twinkle (pink), Star (gold) and Aurora (white and pink).  These dry down and don’t budge, so I think they are best on the eyes.  I don’t care for drying lipstick, but I love it when my eye makeup stays all day.  Star is more opaque than the other two shades, so it looks amazing on the eyes.  I’ve used the white as face highliter, it’s very glittery! I also might try them on my body or cheekbones.  Glitter is fun to play with, especially in the summer!

What summer products are you loving?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — June 2018

IMG_1037

My June BoxyCharm finally arrived! I have been waiting for it because this month’s box is so amazing!

Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 5-6 beauty items, most of them full-sized.  It’s an amazing way to try new makeup and beauty tools!

Here is what I received:

img_1351.jpg

IMG_1357.JPG

I was excited to try these Luxie Brushes.  I have some travel Luxie eye shadow brushes I’ve received in another BoxyCharm.  I haven’t use them yet, but they are pretty.  I think I’m going to try these tomorrow.

I don’t wear false lashes. I’ve tried them years ago, but I didn’t really know how to apply them.  I like how wispy these are.  I’m going to hold on to them and maybe play around with them.

IMG_1356

This smells amazing! It’s such a cute little container.  It is a very hydrating, but not greasy cream.  Very nice for the summer.

This eye pencil is okay.  I’m not the biggest fan of pencils you have to sharpen, plus when I swatched it, it wasn’t very pigmented.  I put this in my giveaway pile.

I also put the Ofra lipstick in my giveaway pile.  It’s too brown for me.  But I really do love their lip formula.

This is the item I was most looking forward to this month!  These colors are so pretty.  The top 4 are shimmers that can be used wet or dry and the bottom 4 are mattes.

Here are swatches:

IMG_1362

The shimmery shades swatch the best, they are so gorgeous!  The mattes (of course) don’t swatch as well on my arm, but they blended on my eye really nicely. I think this is gorgeous for some amazing eye-catching looks this summer.  I also think it will got into fall nicely, too.

So this month was a win because of the Alamar eye shadow palette.  I will also keep the lashes to try out, the brushes and the bum bum cream!  The eyeliner and lipstick will be given to a friend.  I think this is the most I’ve kept from a BoxyCharm!

Did you receive June’s BoxyCharm?  What did you think?

Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale Haul June 2018

IMG_1326

Last Saturday, I went to Sephora to get my birthday gift (post to come) and I decided to stop by Bath and Body Works to check out the Semi-Annual sale.  I found a few things and the range averaged $3-4 an item.  I also had a $10 of $40 coupon which helped.

Here is what I got:

IMG_1327

Three sheet masks.  I purchased some of these before, but gave them away as gifts and haven’t tried one yet! These were $1.25 each with my coupon.IMG_1328

My daughter and I both love bath bombs, so I picked up two of their bath fizzies.  These were $2.88 each.  I used the orange and ginger and it was really nice.

IMG_1329IMG_1330

The hand soaps were $2.48 and the shower gels were $3.27.  I love stocking up on these.  I’m also giving some to my daughter who goes off to college in August.IMG_1331

These all were products I haven’t used before.  It’s fun to find something new to me at the sale! On the left is the White Mousse-to-Oil.  It comes out as a mousse, but when you rub it in your skin, it turns into an oil.  The scent is a little musky and masculine for me, but it’s a nice idea! It was $3.41.

The two items on the right are Body Wash with Olive Oil.  They are a creamy body was and leave the skin really soft.  They were  $3 each.

IMG_1332 The last thing I got on clearance was a body butter.   I got this in Focus for my college-bound daughter, LOL! It was $3.41.

And I got a candle, not on clearance, but on sale for $8.70 with the sale and coupon! It is Costa Rica, which is a Rainforest Passionfruit scent.  I love passionfruit! They also had an Italy one which was chocolate cannoli scent and I almost got that one!

I’m glad I went and got some great items…now if I can stay away!  But, I’ll probably go back.

Did you get anything from the big sale?

Sol de Janeiro Glow Oils and Brazilian Kiss Lip Butter Review

img_1192.jpg

Since it’s been in the 90’s in Kansas City for the past couple of weeks, I have been getting ready for summer beauty-wise.  I have been thinking up summer makeup looks and other beauty products that I love during the hotter months.  I haven’t started self-tanning yet, so when I received these goodies from Sol de Janeiro, I thought “these will help me glow without the mess of sunless tanning!”

I received (for my honest review) the new Glow Oils in Copacabana Bronze and Ipanema Sunset and my favorite lip balm, the Brazilian Kiss lip butter.

IMG_1196
Copacabana Bronze Glow Oil

Sol de Janeiro has just released two Glow Oils ($35 USD). Copacabana Bronze has a subtle bronze tint with golden shimmer to warm and illuminate the skin. It is infused with the signature Cheirosa ‘62 Bum Bum Cream fragrance, leaving skin deliciously scented with notes of pistachio and salted caramel.

I like this oil a lot! The bronze color gives my skin a sun-kissed glow. It’s so pretty and shimmery, not glittery. It also deepens my skin tone a bit so I don’t look as pale. It is a little sticky and doesn’t sink into my skin unless I use a small amount and rub it in really well. Also, the bottle doesn’t have a pump and I have to pour it in my hand.

IMG_1194
Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil

Ipanema Sunset has a translucent champagne shimmer to create a romantic sunset radiance. It is infused with the new tropical dream Cheirosa ‘77 fragrance, with romantic notes of pomelo, wild fig, and Brazilian gardenia.

This give my skin a light shimmer and a super pretty glow. It also looks so hydrated. This oil sinks into my skin better than the bronze oil and doesn’t leave it sticky.

Both oils have different scents. The bronze oil has the same fragrance as Sol’s Bum Bum cream. It’s sweet and spicy, but a little too strong for me. I like the Sunset oil’s scent a little better. If you don’t like strong fragranced oils, these probably aren’t for you.

IMG_1193
Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter

Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter ($18 USD) nourishes lips for a soft, supple feel. Powered by a blend of extraordinarily nourishing cupuaçu butter, antioxidant powerhouse açaí, and super-conditioning coconut oil, it leaves lips traced with a Brazilian caramel scent.

I tried this for the first time last year. It’s so amazing! It has a caramel and nutty scent which is so warm and yummy. And it’s creamy and hydrating.

Get Summer Ready With Beauty Essentials

As I write this getting ready for summer post I’m having a little laugh, because it’s already in the 90’s in Kansas City.  And it doesn’t look like it’s cooling down!

So are you ready for summer beauty?  I find that what I need right now is hydration.  The heat and my allergy meds are drying me out!  Here our my current faves (that were sent to me for my honest review):

th
Erborian Pink Perfect Crème

Erborian Pink Perfect Crème ($39 USD) —  This is a primer that helps to minimize the appearance of pores with a blurring, soft-focus effect. Enriched with camilla japonica seed oil, skin looks smoother with a subtle glow—and is prepped for makeup application. I like that I can wear this on it’s own or with a bit of powder on top for hot days that I don’t want to wear makeup.
