10 in 2020 — Rolling Project Pan

Hi all!  I’m back with my first Project Pan in a year!  I took a year off, but have decided it’s time to use up some makeup.

The Project Pans I did in 2019 were mostly skincare.  This year I’m starting with 10 makeup products and once I use one up, I’ll replace it with someone else.  In the case of pressed powder products, I will probably keep them to see how far I can pan them this year.  Here’s what I’ve chosen to start off with:

IMG-2571

I have close up photos of the powders and stick products.  I can’t really tell how much of the liquid products I have, but I’d say they are all half to 3/4 full.

IMG-2551

Here’s the starting photo of my Butter Bronzer.  I’ve had this for a year and a half.  I use it consistently, and it’s crazy that I haven’t hit pan!  I’m hoping to make a big dent in it this year!

IMG-2565

I’ve had this powder foundation for a couple of years.  It’s starting to get a little dry, but it still works well.  I’m hopefully going to pan it this year and at the end of the year (or sooner), I’ll decide if I want to keep it.

IMG-2630

I purchased this last spring and used it a lot in the spring and summer.  I haven’t used it for a few months, but I wore it today and remembered how amazing it makes my skin look!  I’m sure I will use it up this year.

IMG-2555

I have been using this pencil since fall, but I thought I had more left in it!  It shouldn’t take me long to use this up.

——————————————————————————————————————————–

I’m excited to see how this project pan goes!  Hopefully I’ll use up some of my products this year.  Also, check out my monthly Shop My Stash results to see my mostly skincare empties.

Are you doing a project pan this year?

BoxyCharm Premium Review – January 2020

IMG-2595

Hi all! I’ve just received my January BoxyCharm Premium! This is a fairly new subscription from BoxyCharm.  It’s a little more products than the regular and a little less than the BoxyLuxe.  Here’s the details:

  • It’s $35 a month
  • 6-7 beauty items a box
  • $175+ Value
  • You get to pick one of the items
  • The items will be different from BoxyCharm/BoxyLuxe – you can subscribe to both with no product overlap.

The products I received are:

IMG-2593

The total this month is $221 — good for a $35 box!

IMG-2598IMG-2600

This is such a gorgeous palette in person.  This is what I chose this month, and I’m so glad I did.  The packaging is stunning, and so are the shades!  I am going to try to review this sometime this month and I’ll do swatches when I do.

IMG-2603

I was very surprised to see this in the box!  I heard that a single Kat Von D shadow would be included, so I was very excited to see the Natasha Denona top coat shadow in my box! I love anything purple, too, so that made it even better! IMG-2605IMG-2607

This is a close up of the shadow and a swatch.  It’s just a wash of shimmer, but it looks gorgeous over shadows!  Since it has gold and silver in it, it can be used in both cool and warm toned looks.  I’ve used it with a purple look, but I’m going to keep playing with it.  Stunning!

IMG-2608IMG-2609

I’m always on the lookout for new brow products.  I think 2019 is the year that I started getting my brows together and I hope to perfect them in 2020!  The brow pencil in this kit is more of a medium brown, and I have dark brown hair.  But, I might keep this in my stash and try it when I finish a pencil or two.  I think the concealer/highlighter stick looks pretty nice.

IMG-2602

I’m very excited for this.  I’ve already used it a couple of times and love it! I’ve been using it as a primer. It sits nicely over my sunscreen and makes a gorgeous base for makeup.  I also layer a pore filling primer in my t-zone over this serum and my makeup looks amazing with it.  I have just started trying out Farsali products and have been loving them so far.   I received the Farsali Rose Gold Skin Mist in my November BoxyCharm and I purchased the Farsali Skin Goals – Blur, Prime, Hydrate & Soothe Set for myself and have been trying those serums and primers.

IMG-2597

I was so excited to see Tula in the box until I realized that it’s an acne cleanser.  I haven’t had acne for years, so I’m wondering if BoxyCharm uses our beauty quizzes at all!  It’s the only type of skincare I can’t use.  I will have to pass it on to someone else.

I do think I’ll keep and try the bliss mask.  My pores are large and look congested, even though I don’t have oily skin.  So, I’ll test it out and if it’s too harsh for me, I’ll pass it on.

I’m pretty happy with my box this month. I love the Farsali serum, the eye shadow palette and the Natasha Denona eye shadow topper.  I won’t use the Tula cleanser and I might try the mask and brow kit.

I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about this box.  It’s $10 more than the regular BoxyCharm. In the last few months, I have loved about half of the box and felt meh about the other half.  So is it worth it? Maybe?  I’m going to keep getting it at least for a few more months.

Do you get this box?  What do you think?

2019 Annual Makeup Favorites — And One Big Fail!

Happy New Year!  I’m excited to share my 2019 annual favorites.  This year I’m breaking it up into two categories — Makeup and Skincare.

I love sharing my favorite makeup products.  I’ve included one in each category, and I will also lists some honorable mentions.  I usually don’t include products I don’t like, but I have one extreme fail this year that was a favorite on many people’s lists.  So read to the end if you want to know what foundation didn’t work for me at all!

IMG-2541.jpg

These are my favorite and most used products of 2019.  If I have reviewed or mentioned them before, I’ll link that post.

IMG-2543IMG-2544

Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Vol. 1 Palette — I purchased a few new palettes this year and got a couple in PR that I really like. This one stood out to me because I really love Tati and wanted to support her, and I’ve never seen a palette laid out like this.  Gorgeous!

Honorable mentions are the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette.  I used it a lot this year.  It’s such a nice, neutral palette.  A new one that’s a favorite is the Colourpop Going Coconuts palette.  I will be reviewing that one soon. And my favorite colorful palette is the Natasha Denona Sunrise palette.  It’s so gorgeous!

IMG-2546IMG-2547

NARS Makeup Your Mind Eye & Cheek Palette — So this palette holds my favorite bronzer, Laguna and my favorite blush formula from the year.  I love all three of the blush shades in this — Luster, Orgasm and Dolce Vita.  Beautiful!

Looking back on my monthly favorites for 2019,  I really didn’t have many blushes or bronzers in there.  In November I purchased the Colorpop Pressed Powder Blush in Enchanted Mirror and the Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder in 01 Sun Light. I have been loving both of those.  I would love to find more favorites in these categories this year.

IMG-2542

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer — I purchased this in the spring Ulta 21 Days of Beauty, but just started using it in the fall.  I used it up in 2 months!  I will be purchasing again.  A primer I loved for the warm weather is the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence.  I received it in a BoxyLuxe this year and loved how smooth it made my skin!

Catrice Cosmetics HD Liquid Coverage Foundation — This isn’t a new foundation, but it was new to me this year.  I love that it gives a natural finish with a nice coverage.  It doesn’t look like I’m wearing makeup. Honorable Mentions are the Pur 4-in-1 Love Your Selfie Foundation and the Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation.  Both look so nice on my skin and don’t settle in my pores or lines.  I do need both of them in a darker shade, but I think they are nice, too!

Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer — This is one of the best concealers I have ever used!  It’s easily blendable and gives great coverage.  Plus it stays in place all day.  I do not have a runner up in 2019, because nothing compares.  Lets see if there’s a better one for me in 2020…

Urban Decay The Ultimate Brush Off Translucent Loose Setting Powder — I love the texture of this powder.  It sets under my eyes and all over my face flawlessly.  And it doesn’t sit in my pores and lines or look cakey.  I’m not a big fan of the packaging and hope they repackage it into a normal container without a brush.

Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder is a close second.  I purchased it in the Spring Ulta 21 Days of Beauty and used it up in a few months.  I will be purchasing it again once I go through some powders I have.  It is light and doesn’t settle into pores.

IMG-2545

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter — This is an oldie but goodie!  I rediscovered this highlighter in 2019.  It can look soft and natural on or be built up to be blinding.  I do have a few other highlighters, but I don’t really love any other of mine right now.  I think I’ll try to find a perfect highlighter in 2020!

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara — What an amazing mascara! I alsways have the issue of my mascara smudging under my eye, even when I don’t put mascara on my lower lashes.  This is a tubing mascara, so it only comes off when I take it off with just water! Amazing! I also love the L’Oreal Unlimited Length and Lift Mascara.  It gives amazing length and builds up to be really voluminous.

Wander Beauty Frame Your Face Micro Brow Pencil — I got this in an Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. I no longer get that box, but I’m happy I received this brow pencil!  It is the perfect consistancy for me, not too soft or too waxy. Benefit Cosmetics Precisely My Brow Pencil Ultra-Fine Shape & Define is my runner up for brows.  It’s insanely pigmented, so a little goes a long way.  But it works so well on.  I love the micro pencils when doing my brows.

Pop Beauty Pout on Point Lip Liner — I have had this liner for a couple of years and it is almost out.  The color I have is Nude.  It’s not too creamy, so it stays on all day.  But it does glide on and blend like a dream!  I don’t have another lip liner I love as much, so I might have to make a Pop Beauty order soon.  I am always on the lookout for an amazing lip liner that doesn’t cost too much.

Iconic London Lip Gloss — I love this lip plumper!  The shade I have is Nearly Nude.  It’s lightly plumping and looks gorgeous over a lip liner or any lipstick. I don’t wear lipstick that much any more, usually just a lip liner with a gloss over it.  Although this is very nice, I am on the lookout for my perfect sheer gloss.  I need to use up ones I have before I will let myself try some more.

And now, my (probably controversial) fail for 2019:

L'Oreal Fresh Wear Foundation

L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation — Almost all reviews I saw for this last year were positive.  And there was a lot.  The only two reviews that weren’t as positive were ladies around my age that said it made them look like they were wearing foundation instead of just having beautiful skin.

For me, this foundation was just awful. It settled heavily in my pores and fine lines.  I tried so many different primers, serums and combinations of those to try not to look like a cakey mess when I wore it.  They didn’t work. Finally (before I gave it away), I had one day that I used an oil under it along with creams and primers, and it only looked slightly bad.  Almost passable.  LOL!  I gave it away after about 10 uses.

It was so sad because I was hoping to love it like so many others.  But I did find a perfect (for me) foundation, the Catrice one.

Did you try this foundation?  What did you think?

—————————————————————————————————————————————

I found so many amazing products in 2019!  I might have purchased too much, because I’m still working through them.  I still get BoxyCharm, BoxyLuxe and BoxCharm Premium, but I have got rid of my other subscriptions.  I am also going to try to purchase items I need in 2020.  And of course, a few I want.

Stay tuned for my skincare favorites of 2019 and I think I’m doing an annual Project Pan this year.

Skincare Sunday — Derma E Skin Restore

Hi All! Happy Sunday!  I’m back with a skincare review.  I love Derma E and am lucky to get sent some of their products to review from time to time.

A highly advanced formulation packed with the peptides and collagen needed for healthy-looking skin makes this the best moisturizer for wrinkles. I am loving all of these products!  I need the extra hydration and anti-aging properties in my skin right now.  It’s get’s so dry in the winter, and that doesn’t help aging skin.  But these lovely products do!

Have you tried Derma E?  Which of their products do you love?

Cannabliss Organic Moisturizing Lotion + Revitalizing Serum Gift Set

The end result is a highly concentrated form of CBD that provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties far more powerful than vitamins C and E. The brand takes their products one step further blending this full spectrum CBD oil with ancient Korean herbs to help the CBD absorb better. Cannabliss doesn’t use any water, chemicals or preservatives in their formulas. The brand uses an airless pump to keep liquids safe from oxidation and bacteria so your favorite skincare essential stays shelf stable. BoxyCharm Premium Review – December 2019

img-2361.jpg

Hi all! I’ve just received my second ever BoxyCharm Premium!

IMG-2337

My total this month is — $197.  This is a pretty good value for paying $35.  It is over the $175 promised value.

IMG-2357IMG-2358

The shades in this neutral palette are so pretty, but I don’t like the layout of it.  I think nice looks can be created with it, but I think I’ll gift it to someone else.  I have lots of neutral palettes and I’m sure a friend will be happy to get this for Christmas!

IMG-2354IMG-2355

This is a fun little palette.  I’ve never heard of this brand before (Basic Beauty).  I have plenty of highlighters, and these look dark for my skin tone, so I was going to give it away.  But when I opened it, the shade No Spraytan’s had a scratch that looks like someone’s nail got in it.  So, there’s no way I would give this to someone else.

So I swatched it and the shades are gorgeous!  I have used No Spraytan’s as a highlighter.  It is a bit too dark, but it does look a glowy and pretty on.

Here are swatches:

IMG-2356 See how stunning they are.  I can actually use all three of these as eye shadows.  And the texture (and look) is like Colourpop’s Super Shock shadows.  I will be playing with these to see how I like them.

IMG-2360 I don’t usually wear black eyeliner, but I may try this to tightline.  I don’t know.  I might pass it on. Not a thrilling item.

IMG-2359

Three of the products are skincare.  It’s so interesting because when I first started BoxyCharm a few years ago, it was only makeup.  Now half of the products are skincare.  I’m not sure how I feel about that yet.

My eyelids have been dry and flaky lately, so I’m happy to get the Laneige eye sleeping mask.  And I have a small bottle of the Glow Recipe Pink Juice, so I am happy to have a full size one.  I haven’t used it for long, but it seems like a nice moisturizer.

I’m going to give my daughter the Skinfix balm because she has Ezcema.

I am pretty happy with this month.  I am giving away two products and will keep the rest! Nothing is super exciting to me, but I’ll use them and maybe I’ll find a new favorite.

Do you get BoxyCharm Premium?  How was your box this month?

Colourpop Black Friday Haul

Hi all! I did a little bit of shopping for myself during the Black Friday week. I have a couple of makeup hauls to share.

The first one is from Colourpop.  They had 30% off most of their site for about a week.  Here’s what I got:

IMG-2243

The Going Coconuts palette, the Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer in Fair 4N, the Super Shock Shadow in Flying Circus and the Pressed Powder Blush in Enchanted Mirror. Everything was on sale except for the Super Shock Shadow.  The shade was so pretty that I had to get it.  As always, you get free shipping with orders of $30 or more.

IMG-2245

Here are the palette, Super Shock Shadow and blush opened.  I am loving all of these shades!

IMG-2248

I picked this up because I saw a lot of reviews saying that it’s an amazing palette.  It’s really pretty.  I’ve used it a couple of times and like it okay.  I’m going to try it some more and review it.  I actually am going to do a palette review series in 2020.  I’m going to review my older palettes that I haven’t reviewed yet.  I think I’ll review 20.  That will be fun and this one will be included!

IMG-2311

I have also heard a lot of great things about this tinted moisturizer.  I’ve tried it a few times and I like it.  It doesn’t cover my redness well, so I only use it when my skin is good that day.  I need something with a higher coverage when my skin is red or has any issues.

But it does feel really nice on. I love hyaluronic acid!

IMG-2247

These are both so pretty!  I don’t use Super Shock shadows often, but this one was too pretty to pass up.  I love purple!  It wasn’t on sale, so it was $6,  which isn’t bad.  Colourpop is so reasonably priced.  Here are swatches:

IMG-2310

I love both of these shades!  The Super Shock is easy to apply with my fingers.  It makes any look more special.

The blush is so gorgeous!  It really brightens my pale skin.  So pretty for this time of year!

Did you buy any beauty products during the sales?  Do you purchase Colourpop?

FHI Heat Rose Gold Collection Review

Hi all! The luxe hair tools brand FHI Heat has recently come out with their Rose Gold Collection.  It’s so gorgeous.  The collection is designed to deliver professional quality styles at an affordable price. Included in the collection are the Rose Gold Platform 1900 Pro Dryer, the Rose Gold Platform Titanium Iron 1”, the Rose Gold Mini Travel Dryer and the Rose Gold Mini Travel Iron 1”.

I was sent the FHI Heat® Rose Gold Platform Pro Dryer for my honest review:

IMG-2282IMG-2283IMG-2293

The FHI Heat® Rose Gold Platform Pro Dryer (MSRP $139.99)

  • Ultra-Light Weight dryer, utilizing high performing tourmaline ceramic technology, this dryer is the go-to and must-have for all hair types
  • Moisture-locking negative ions seal in moisture, repel humidity, reduce frizz and help eliminate static
  • Far-infrared heat dries hair from the inside out for healthier results.

Here’s a close up of the dryer:

IMG-2294

It’s so pretty!  But looks aren’t everything, and luckily this works amazing, too!  I find that it dries my hair very quickly, and my hair is smooth and soft after drying.

So many dryers leave my hair brittle and frizzy.  This doesn’t and gives me salon quality blow outs! The attachments are easy to use and help direct the airflow how you want it.

Also included in the collection are:
