10 in 2020 — Rolling Project Pan First Check In

Hi all!  I hope you’re doing well and staying safe!

This year I started with 10 makeup products.  My rule this year is once I use one up, I’ll replace it with someone else.  In the case of pressed powder products, I will probably keep them to see how far I can pan them this year.  Here are the products I first started out with:

I have close up photos of the powders and stick products.  I can’t really tell how much of the liquid products I have, but I’d say they are all half to 3/4 full.

Here’s a group photo of what I am using now:

So, the three glosses are gone!  I used up two of them, the Bite Beauty and Buxom in White Russian.  I gave away the Dose of Colors gloss.  I just don’t like the formula of that lip gloss.  It’s very sticky and full coverage.  I like a sheer hydrating gloss.

I replaced them with two Buxom glosses, Dolly Lip Polish and Hot Toddy Lip Creme.  And a new product, the Becca Cosmetics Under Eye Brightening Corrector.  I started using this pretty much right after I started my project pan, after I got rid of the Dose of Colors gloss.  Here’s the photos how it was in the beginning and how it is now:

I had already hit pan, but I made a huge dent in it!  I am hoping to use it up by my end of June check in. If not, for sure in my September check in.

And I am so proud of hitting pan on my butter bronzer!  I’ve had this for almost two years and have finally hit pan!  I’m hoping to make that pan much bigger by next check in.

I have not used this a lot.  Swirled together, the shade is darker than I am now.  I will be using it more in Summer.

I have used this almost all up!  I’m still scraping in the container, but I should be done with this soon!

I have been using this eyebrow pencil almost everyday.  I can’t believe it’s not used up yet!  I’m going to keep going and hopefully use it up by next check in.

For my other products, I’m about halfway through the beautyblender Selfie Shield primer.  I have been using it more.  I had to cut open the Leveler primer (in the back) because it wasn’t coming out.  I have about an eighth of it left so am almost done with it.

I think my Project Pan is going pretty well.  I used up three products and should use up a few more by the next check in.  I will replace them with other items since this is a rolling project pan.

Are you doing a Project Pan this year?  How’s it going if you are?

10 in 2020 — Rolling Project Pan

Hi all!  I’m back with my first Project Pan in a year!  I took a year off, but have decided it’s time to use up some makeup.

The Project Pans I did in 2019 were mostly skincare.  This year I’m starting with 10 makeup products and once I use one up, I’ll replace it with someone else.  In the case of pressed powder products, I will probably keep them to see how far I can pan them this year.  Here’s what I’ve chosen to start off with:

IMG-2571

I have close up photos of the powders and stick products.  I can’t really tell how much of the liquid products I have, but I’d say they are all half to 3/4 full.

Here’s the starting photo of my Butter Bronzer.  I’ve had this for a year and a half.  I use it consistently, and it’s crazy that I haven’t hit pan!  I’m hoping to make a big dent in it this year!

I’ve had this powder foundation for a couple of years.  It’s starting to get a little dry, but it still works well.  I’m hopefully going to pan it this year and at the end of the year (or sooner), I’ll decide if I want to keep it.

I purchased this last spring and used it a lot in the spring and summer.  I haven’t used it for a few months, but I wore it today and remembered how amazing it makes my skin look!  I’m sure I will use it up this year.

I have been using this pencil since fall, but I thought I had more left in it!  It shouldn’t take me long to use this up.

I’m excited to see how this project pan goes!  Hopefully I’ll use up some of my products this year.  Also, check out my monthly Shop My Stash results to see my mostly skincare empties.

Are you doing a project pan this year?

Shop My Stash February 2019 Results

IMG_2906

Hi all!  Happy March!  I am excited for a new month.  To wrap February up, I’m going to give my thoughts on how the latest Shop My Stash went. Each month I will usually add my empties to this post, but I only had one this month.  So I will hold on to it and post it with my March empties.

I chose the five products above.  You can read more about them and see close up photos here.

My goal in these is to use some of my products more frequently, and also decide if I need to keep them all or pass them along to someone who will get more use out of them than me.  Of course some of these I knew I was going to keep (Modern Renaissance), but others I wasn’t sure about.

I think it was a fairly successful month.  I haven’t been feeling well, so I didn’t wear makeup every day.  But when I did, I tried to use at least one of these products.

Out of the three eye shadow palettes I chose, I used the Chocolate Bar and Modern Renaissance the most. I stated at the beginning of the month that I hadn’t yet reviewed the Chocolate Bar or Venus III yet on my blog, and that’s still true.  I will try to review the Chocolate Bar this month.  I think I may be passing Venus III on to someone else.  The shadows aren’t very easy to work with and the shimmers are so glittery.  It is pretty though, and I think my daughter will love it!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep the LORAC bronzer or the Wet n Wild highlighter, but I found that I love them both!  The bronzer is really nice, especially while I’m still fair.  If I get a (faux) tan this year, I can use another bronzer, but for now I’ve moved it with my every day makeup next to my beloved Butter Bronzer.  It’s so good!

The highlighter is so gorgeous — it’s the perfect tone for my skin!  It is a bit glittery, so I will use it for evenings and special occasions.  But I do really love it, too!

I’ve chosen my five products for March and will hopefully have that up tomorrow.  I’m excited to get started on giving some love to some different products!

Have you done a Shop My Stash?  How did it go for you?

Shop My Stash — February 2019

Hi all! It’s February!  I’m so happy January is over.  It was a long, cold month.  The cold isn’t over, but hopefully will be soon.

It’s time for my second Shop My Stash.  You can see the first one here and the results here.  This month, I have chosen three eyeshadow palettes, one highlighter and one bronzer to focus on. Like last month, I will link if I have featured these or reviewed them on my blog. Here’s the products:

Here are close up photos of each product:

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette — I hauled this in September here. I still haven’t done a full review on it, but I will this month.  I used it a lot when I first got it, but I haven’t used it since.  It’s a neutral palette with a couple of pops of colour and I know I can get lots of pretty looks with it. Plus it smells like chocolate!

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette have really been loved!  It’s a bit messy.  Honestly, I chose this one because it’s a perfect palette for Valentine’s Day!  This is so nice for neutral or pink/red looks. I got it about a year ago and reviewed it here.

IMG_2914IMG_2916

This is my first and so far only Lime Crime purchase.  It’s the Venus III Palette. I bought this in the same haul as the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.  It was about half price and I really loved the shades.  I still need to review this one and hope to do it this month, too.

This is the Wet n Wild Moon Tears loose highlighter. I got this around my birthday in June and hauled it here.  I like it, but it’s pretty glittery. I choose it this month to see if I want to keep it.  I do need to do a declutter of some of my makeup.  I have some that is old or I just do use.  So we will see how this goes! I have swatched this below.

IMG_2909IMG_2910

I have had this LORAC bronzer in my drawer for a while.  It’s been a bit over a year.  I’ve read that powder makeup is good for about two years. So I maybe have about six more months with this or so.  It’s a light bronzer, which I need because I have fair to light skin.  I LOVE my butter bronzer, but I want to see if this is as good.

I have swatched the highlighter and bronzer:

The highlighter is so pretty in this swatch. The color is perfect for me, it’s just so glittery!  I also think the bronzer is a pretty shade.  It’s not too dark for me in winter.

I’m excited about this Shop My Stash.  I have already used all of these this month and am looking forward to seeing what type of fun looks I can do!

Are you doing Shop my Stash this year, or have you done one in the past?  Let me know how it turned out!

My Beauty Favorites — Week of August 21–27, 2017

It’s cooled down a bit in Kansas City, which is awesome. I’ve haven’t been feeling the best this week, but I’ve still been testing out some wonderful products!

This week I am loving a serum that mattifies my face, some new potent anti-aging products and a fun matte liquid lipstick:

Tu’el ABSORB Mattifying Serum
Tu’el ABSORB Mattifying Serum ($48 USD) — Get real deal oil control and a shine-free face with Absorb. Powered by natural plant extracts of burnet, cinnamon, ginger and green tea to control oil, inhibit breakouts and leave your skin looking fresh and matte all day while Sodium Hyaluronate locks in hydration. Give yourself glow without the shine.

What I think: it’s not as hot here as it’s been. But it still is very humid. So my face gets oily fast. I apply this on clean skin and put my moisturizer over it. It helps keep my skin matte all day. It’s sinks right into my skin and I really love that it doesn’t leave it slick like a lot of serums do.

Purchase at Tuelskincare.com

Meaningful Beauty Environmental Protecting Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF30 Sunscreen – ($65 USD) — Today, the blue light emitted by our phones, TVs and computer screens, and pollution are all sources of environmentally induced skin damage that can be just as harmful as the sun’s rays. This new multi-tasking moisturizer helps reduce damage and premature aging with broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Meaningful Beauty Overnight Retinol Repairing Créme – ($68 USD) — Renew and repair skin while you sleep with this intensely hydrating overnight moisturizer that features retinol, and hexapeptide-9 to help decrease the appearance of fine lines and improve the firmness of skin.

What I think: these are both new to the line. I love the SPF moisturizer because it helps with environmental pollutants. I love having my skin protected when I go outside. It feels nice and light on the skin, too.

I think retinol is so important for aging skin. The night cream sinks right into the skin, and in the morning my skin is smooth and glowing. I like to use intense anti-aging products at night, so my skin can be repaired while I sleep. This is a great option!

Purchase at select ULTA stores/Ulta.com

Wet’n Wild Lipsticks Matte Liquid Catsuit
Wet’n Wild Lipsticks Matte Liquid Catsuit ($4.99 USD) — What glides on like butter, feels like a second skin and won’t budge? Our Catsuit Matte Lipstick. Made with glammed out superpowers, it goes on glossy yet transforms into a high-pigmented matte finish with some serious staying power. Read our lips: This color is going nowhere.

What I think: this was kind of an impulse buy. I have seen reviews online and when I visited Walgreens I went looking for it. I chose the color RebelRose. I like the color, but it’s a little dark for me. The formula goes on smoothly, but it is a bit drying on my lips. I have a lip primer that I’m going to use under it. I recommend this for those who love matte liquid lipsticks. It’s affordable and it comes in a really pretty array of colors. And I really like the packaging too!

Purchase at Walgreens and other mass market retailers.

What are you loveing this week?
