April 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hi all!  Can you believe April is almost over and May is on it’s way!

With my severe allergies, I didn’t wear a lot of makeup this month.  But I was using a few skincare products that soothed my skin and was testing out some products I purchased in Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty.

Here are the products that I have been using.  If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

IMG_0632

For skincare, I have been using the Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream every day and night. It’s moisturizing and gentle on my dry, irritated eyes.  The IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Neck Cream has been keeping my neck smooth and tight.  But. my favorite skincare discovery is the G.M. Collin Hydramucine Optimal Serum.  It contains a combination of high and low hyaluronic acid to provide moisture while an advanced hydrating formula prevents water loss, improves water circulation within the skin, stimulates ceramide production, and boosts skin’s ability to regulate moisture levels.  It makes my dry, uncomfortable skin feel instantly hydrated.  And it sinks right in and doesn’t leave skin greasy.  I’ve been using it day and night!

My fave complexion products include the Beautyblender Selfie Shield primer with SPF 38.  I received all three new primers for review, and I am enjoying them all.  This is my current fave of the three because my sensitive skin has not been liking traditional sunscreen.  This is a dry oil and sinks right into the skin without irritating it.  I also have been loving my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick SPF 25.  I have it in the shades 1.5 Birch and 2.0 Vanilla. This is creamy and has a nice medium coverage.  I can layer it on for more of a full coverage.

I picked up the Beauty Bakerie HD Flour Setting Powder (Translucent) the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot (Painterly (nude beige)) and the Lancome Cils Booster XL Vitamin Infused-Mascara Primer during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale.  I use all three every day now and love them all.  The powder sets without making my skin look cakey.  The paint pot primes my lids very nicely and my shadow lasts all day! I have always loved mascara primers.  It’s nice to use a high end one at half price!

My favorite mascara, which is sadly almost at it’s expiration date is the Nanacoco Outlash Mascara.  It makes my lashes very long and gives some volume and separation, too.  It’s not too bold, so it’s my perfect every day mascara.  The lovely Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette is my favorite palette find of the month. It’s a perfect everyday neutral palette that can be smoked up for evening looks.  And I have also been loving the Urban Decay HI-FI Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss. It is shiny without being sticky, and it smells and tastes minty!

What are you April beauty favorites? Any fun new finds this month?

My Current Favorite Urban Decay Lippies!

Hi all!  I hope you are having gorgeous spring weather like I am.  I think it’s going to be in the 70’s today in Kansas City.  Although my allergies are bad and I don’t spend much time outside, I do enjoy the nice weather!

I’ve received some wonderful Urban Decay products for my honest review lately, including some gorgeous lip products. I wanted to share my favorites!

IMG_0610

Such gorgeous packaging!  I love Urban Decays innovative packaging.  Here’s a shot of the lippies open:

IMG_0609 HI-FI SHINE ULTRA CUSHION LIP GLOSS –($20 each) The top shade is Fuel (light neutral nude cream) and the bottom is Rapture (rose-mauve cream)

LO-FI LIP MOUSSE–($22 USD) The shade is Halo (warm baby pink)

VICE LIPSTICK–($19 USD) On the left is Lovelight (pale peach w/pink shimmer – sheer shimmer) and Oblivion (gray-taupe mega matte)

As you can see, I like lighter shades.  These are all very different, though.  Close up photos below, followed by swatches.

img_0616.jpg The top and left is Fuel and bottom right is Rapture.  These are both beautiful and semi-sheer.  These are gorgeous on their own or over lipstick.  They are shiny, but not sticky at all!  Which I love!

IMG_0614 This is a bit messy, but I have been testing it out.  This is more of a putty formula than a mousse.  This does take a little bit of work to get good coverage, but a lip liner and using the little applicator sponge helps.  It is very matte on.  I’m not the biggest matte fan, but this looks pretty.  It also is nice with one of the glosses layered on.

IMG_0612 The left is the Ultra Matte in Oblivion and the right is the Sheer Shimmer in Lovelight.

Oblivion is very matte, but it’s comfortable on.  Even a bit moisturizing.  Plus, it looks amazing with the Rapture gloss over it!  Lovelight is gorgeous all by itself!  Very sheer and shimmery.  Perfect for spring and summer.

IMG_0617 Here are the swatches — Fuel, Rapture, Oblivion, Lovelight and Halo.  Such different formulas — but all really fun!  I’ll probably be picking up more glosses, lipsticks and if they put out lighter shades in the Lo-Fi, I will be trying those, too!

You can purchase Urban Decay online at http://www.urbandecay.com and at Ulta and Sephora.

Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi all!  Happy Easter weekend! I hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend!
I was so excited to receive the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded  ($44 USD) palette for my honest review.
I love Urban Decay shadows.  The Born to Run palette is one of my favorite palettes of all time!   (And have you seen the new Game of Thrones palette — gorgeous)! So, I had high hopes for this one.  Read on to find out my thoughts on Naked Reloaded.
IMG_0548
This palette was created to be an essential Naked palette, featuring 12 all-new eyeshadow shades that redefine neutral with Urban Decay’s signature formula. Urban Decay recently retired their original Naked palette.  This new palettes’ eyeshadows claim to be flattering for any age, gender, and skin tone. The four outer pans are bigger for the shades you’ll use the most. A bright peach hue stands out among warm and cool mattes, metallics, and iridescent micro-shimmers.

Festival Beauty Essentials!

Hi all!  It’s music festival season! Are you going to a festival this spring or summer? I haven’t been to one in years, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with my beauty products during the warmer months!

I’ve put together a few makeup and skincare faves for a fun and safe (don’t forget your SPF) time.  My picks aren’t as glitter as they could be, but if I was going to a festival, these are the types of products I would take with me:

IMG_0468

Urban Decay always has very fun makeup products that is perfect for festival looks. A few I love are:

Urban Decay On The Run Mini Palette in Detour ($25 USD) — This is a perfect travel sized palette.  I have included a photo of it opened below, so you can see the shades.  They are bronzes and couple of blues.  There is also the rosy toned Shortcut palette and the Bailout palette, which has cool toned browns and a couple of purples.  I also have the Shortcut palette and love it, too.

Urban Decay Double Team Special Effect Colored Mascara ($24) — The teal above is the shade Deep End.  It’s be really pretty paired with the palette. One end is a cream formula and the other is a glitter.  There is also a blue, pink, purple and one that’s gold on one end and silver on the other.

Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss ($20 USD) — The shade above is a holographic called SPL.  It’s a pretty shimmery pink.  I’ve just received some of these for review and am excited because I have heard how good they are.  The holographic shade is pretty for fun looks, but the creams are amazing for every day!  I’ll be reviewing them soon.

Urban Decay Cosmetics are available at http://www.urbandecay.com and beauty retailers like Ulta and Sephora.

For on-the-go coverage… FRÉ Skincare’s GLOW ME Tinted Moisturizer ($45 USD) is a revolutionary 3-in-1 formula designed specifically for skin that sweats, and we know there’s a lot of that during festival season. It’s formulated with Argania Active Complex for moisturizing, SPF 15 for protection, and with a universal nude tint for a sheer finish to blur unwanted blemishes and even skin tone.

Available at www.freskincare.com

For healthy sun protection that works… Love Sun Body 100% Natural Origin Mineral Sunscreens  are safe for use on your face and body and provide 80 minutes of water and sweat resistant protection.

Available in lightly scented or fragrance free and in 2 different sizes (6.76 OZ for $32.00 or 3.38 OZ for $21.00) at lovesunbody.com/collections and Amazon.com.

For Flower Power nails… Morgan Taylor’s Spring 2019 Collection – The Color of Petals will have you pretty from head to toe! Inspired by your favorite flowers, these gorgeous pastels are the perfect finishing touch to any spring festival look. Available at Ulta.com and SaltEarthSpa.com beginning February for $9.50 per bottle.

Just for fun, here’s a photo with the Urban Decay palette open:

Oh yes, that’s gorgeous!  This is nice for all year round, but will be especially perfect for bronzey, summer looks!

Are you going to any festivals this year?  What products will you take with you?

February 2019 Beauty Favorites

IMG_3080

Hi All!  Can you believe that it’s the end of February?  That means it’s time for another favorites post! I have been enjoying trying new products this month and have selected a few that I have been enjoying using.

Here are my current faves:

Urban Decay On The Run Mini Palette in Shortcut — I have been enjoying this cute little palette.  Although it’s small, it contains 8 shadows and I can create whole looks with just the one palette.  The quality is as good as my beloved Born to Run palette.  Love!

107 ONEOSEVEN Oil-In-Gel Cleanser — This is a Korean Skincare brand and I have been enjoying trying their products.  This cleanser is really cool.  It comes out a clear gel that you massage into your face to remove all makeup.  Then when you add water, it emulsifies and rinses off easily.  It completely removes my makeup and leaves my skin soft and clean.  I use this every night.  This would be the first step if you double cleanse.  I don’t really, I just use this, then a toner after cleansing.

Philosophy anti-wrinkle miracle worker primer — Wow!  I am loving this primer.  I smooth it over my entire face and let it dry.  Once it does my wrinkles and pores are way less noticeable.  It works so well under all of my foundations. My review of the new anti-wrinkle collection is here.

Higher Education Skincare Easy A Gentle Resurfacing Pads — I use these once a day to exfoliate my skin, usually at night.  But the pads are nice to use before makeup to smooth the skin.  They are very gentle on my sensitive skin.  Check out my review of this cool brand.

Nanacoco PRO. HD Pressed Blush in Shimmery Dusty Rose and Magnu-Matte Lip Crayon in Roasted Chestnut. This is a new brand to me.  I did a brand review here. The blush is a shimmery rosy shade and I love it.  It gives a pop of color and freshness in the cold, cold winter!  The lip color is a gorgeous mauvey-nude and although it is matte, it is not drying on my lips (I’m not a fan of drying matte lippies).  These are both so nice and are affordable, too!

Urban Decay Brow Blade and Brow Finish — I received the new Urban Decay brow products for review, and are really impressed with these two!  I use the pencil end in the Brow Blade to define my brow shape, then use the brush tip end to create hair strokes.  I seal it with the Brow Finish, and my brows look amazing all day long!

What products did you love in February?  I would love to know!

Urban Decay Street Style Brow Collection Review

img_3009.jpg

Hi all!  I hope everyone is having a great week!

I have recently received brow products for my honest review from the new Urban Decay Street Style Brow Collection. I was so excited to get these, because I have wanted to try them.  I love Urban Decay and I have been trying to get my brows on point.

This collection is gorgeous, I love the metallic purple and black packaging.

Here are the products I received:

img_3063.jpg

BROW BLADE Ink Stain + Waterproof Pencil ($26 USD) –A double-ended ink stain and waterproof pencil that gives you microblade definition and precision without the commitment.

This is probably my favorite product of the collection. I have this in Dark Drapes, which is the perfect shade for me. I have almost black brow hair (my hair color is very dark brown). To use, I start with the waterproof pencil to shape, shade, and fill in, then I use the microblade ink stain to create hair-like strokes and add dimension.

I usually only use a pencil, then a clear brow gel over it.  So this has taken some practice, and I’m still trying to perfect the technique.   Both of the products are soft and can be built up. This is not a waterproof product and does wash off easily.  So I like to use the brow finish (below) over it.

IMG_3066.JPG

BROW ENDOWED Brow Primer + Color ($28 USD) — A double-ended tool that volumizes and sets brows in two easy steps: A primer fluffs and holds, while a tinted cream fills and shapes.

I have this product in Neutral Nana.  Although it looks fairly light in the photo, it applies much darker. That works for me, since my brow hairs are so dark. I apply the primer for volume, then brush on the tinted brow cream to intensify brows. It makes my brows look very fluffy and bold.  I’ve tried this alone, but do prefer to also use a brow pencil to define the brows.  I do find that this is very long-lasting!

IMG_3067

BROW FINISH Waterproof Brow Gel ($21 USD) A lightweight, waterproof brow gel that holds your look in place. It’s like brow magic—set it and forget it.

This is my second favorite product in the collection! It is a lightweight, waterproof brow gel.  It claims to stay in place for 16 hours.  I use this over the Brow Blade, which isn’t waterproof, so this seals my brows in! Plus, I really love the brush on this.  It makes it quick and easy to apply. This is probably the best clear brow gel I’ve ever used!

Choose from two shades: Ozone goes on clear for everyday brows, while Midnight Cowboy adds shimmer for more drama. I have Ozone, it is a nice, clear gel.

img_3070.jpg

DOUBLE DOWN BROW Waterproof, Smudge-Proof Brow Putty ($29 USD) — A buildable, waterproof putty duo for multi-dimensional brows that won’t budge.

This has a putty-to-powder formula, for smudge-proof brows that last up to 16 hours.  Shape brows with the putty, then seal in long-lasting, customized color with the powder. The mini double-ended brush has an angled brush on one end and a mini spoolie for blending on the other.

This is in the shade Taupe Trap.  It is way too light for me, so I haven’t tried it.  I am going to pass it along to someone with lighter hair and brows.  I think it looks very nice.  I’m more of a pencil gal, but I’m sure this is easy to work with, too.

IMG_3072.JPG

BROW GUIDE Brow Stencils ($12 USD) — A kit featuring eight sets of reusable adhesive stencils—the cheat sheet to your best brow.

Urban Decay partnered with Audrey Glass, Los Angeles’s top microblade artist, to create eight ultimate brow shapes for easily transforming arches. Correct and perfect with these brow stencils—apply the stencil (they gently stick to skin), then use your favorite products to fill in the shape.

Choose from a multi-style kit with four of UD’s favorite brow shapes (8 sets total: 2 of each shape) or a single-style kit with eight sets of the same shape. Each stencil is reusable up to 3-5 times.

I have the double tap.  It’s really fun to use!  It’s a little dramatic for every day, but fun for going out!

I really am enjoying using these products.  The packaging is absolutely gorgeous! Plus the products are so nice to use. Again, my favorites are the Brow Blade and the Brow Finish, but I think the entire collection is worth checking out.

Have you tried any of Urban Decay’s new brow collection?  What do you think?

Shop My Stash January 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_2781

Hi All!  Can you believe January is almost over?  I’m ready for spring, so I’m okay with it!

I started a monthly Shop My Stash this year. Here is the link to the post from the beginning of the month.  I go over each product with photos.  I also link if I have reviewed them in the past.

I really enjoyed this and tried to use all of these products at least a few times to see how much I like them.  It’s fun to focus on products since I have so many (especially Eye shadows).

The products this month were Urban Decay Born to Run Palette, Tartiest Pro Glow Palette. Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Palette, Pretty Vulgar Blush in Hush Blush and two BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in Cuddle Me (Rose) and Cozy Up (Mauve Nude).

I probably used the Born to Run palette the most, confirming why it was my favorite palette last year (see my 2018 faves here). My challenge was to use other shades than the bronzes.  And I did!  I tried the blues, gray and purple shades.  I’m not a fan of bright pink eyeshadow, but I think I used almost all of the shades.  The quality is gorgeous!

I also loved the You Had Me At Hello Palette. It’s a plummy, reddish brown sort of palette with a bunch of beautiful metallic shades. I did a few varied looks with this.

The tarte contour palette and the Pretty Vulgar blush weren’t my favorites. I decided to choose them because I got them both in subscription boxes this year and I never really used them.  The contour palette is a bit dark for me, both the contour and the highlighters.  My skin is so fair right now that they really don’t show up. The blush is very powdery and so pigmented.  It’s too bright for me.  I think I am going to hold on to them and try them again in the summer.  Or I might just give them away to my daughter!

Th Buxom PillowPouts are really nice.  They are creamy, but are matte when applied.  I like to wear lip glosses over them. I’ll continue using them!

I also am going to include any empties in this post each month:

IMG_2899.JPG

This month I only had three — The Robin McGraw Revelation Live Life Lifted Neck Cream, Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Leave in Mask, and Philosophy Purity Made Simple Eye Gel. I’ve been using the skincare since early fall and I got the Briogeo in a subscription box a few months ago.  I use neck cream morning and night (and eye cream, too).  This neck cream really firmed up my neck area, and the eye cream was super hydrating.  I definitely recommend them both.  I like the hair mask, but I just got the Briogeo Rosarco one and I like that one a bit better.  If you over use this one, hair gets greasy.

So I have chosen my Shop My Stash products for February and will be revealing those soon.  I’m enjoying this series so far!  Stay tuned!

Shop My Stash — January 2019

Hey all!  I hope your 2019 has started off well!

This year I’m trying something new (again). Last year I did four quarterly Project Pans.  This was the first time I’ve tried this and I learned a lot.  Especially that skincare is easy to use up if you use it everyday and makeup is not!  I have so much color cosmetics that i need to use.

So, this year, I am going to do a Shop My Stash each month. The products I’m going to choose will be color cosmetics that I have forgot about or just want to use more. I probably won’t use anything up, but I need to play with more products in my collection.

I’m not going to choose foundation, concealer or powders.  This year I’m going to try to just purchase what I need in base products when I run out.  It took me a long time to use them up in my pans last year.

Here are the products I will be focusing on in January:

IMG_2781I’ve chosen two eyeshadow palettes, a sculpting palette, a blush and two shades of the same lip product. Here’s a close up of each product.  If I’ve reviewed them before, I’ll include the link.

img_2782img_2783 Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette —  This was in my favorites of the year.  I think it’s the prettiest and most color diverse palette that I bought in 2018.  I purchased this in the summer and used it a lot when I first got it, but I haven’t really used it much since.

I usually do a bronzey look with this palette and want to experiment with the blues, greens, purples and pinks!

img_2784img_2786

ColourPop You Had Me At Hello —  This is such a pretty plummy-neutral palette.  I got it last year around this time and used it, and then put it away.  It’s time to give it some love.

I want to experiment with some of the gorgeous metallics and shimmers. I think it will compliment the Born to Run palette, too, if I want to use shades out of both for one use.

img_2789img_2793

tarte tarteist™ PRO glow highlight & contour palette —  I received this in a FabFitFun box this summer.  I used it a couple of times, but I haven’t really given it a fair chance.

I love the sculpt shade and some of the lighter highlighters.  I think I will get good use out of this!

img_2787img_2788Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush Powder Blush in Hush Blush — I received this in my March 2018 BoxyCharm.  It’s such a pigmented blush that I never really used it.  I like sheerer, glowy blushes in the spring and summer.  I think it will give my some much needed color in the winter.  If I really don’t like it, I’ll pass it on at the end of the month.

img_2794img_2795img_2796

BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in Cuddle Me (Rose) and Cozy Up (Mauve Nude). I should have swatched these, but they are pretty similar in  color.  I reviewed the entire collection this summer and really liked them.  I’ve been using up glosses in my last Project Pan, so I haven’t been using these. I will probably wear them alone and with a gloss over them.

So there’s the items I am going to try to use this month.  I will be posting an update on how it went.  I will probably included it when I post my February Shop My Stash so stay tuned!

Have you done a Shop My Stash before? How did it go?

2018 Annual Beauty Favorites

Happy New Year!  I am so excited to get 2019 started.

I haven’t done a monthly favorites since October — the end of the year has been so crazy!  But I want to look back on a few of my favorites for 2018. I’ve chosen my favorite makeup in each category I use — and a skincare favorite or two.

Even though I am just picking one (or so) from each category, I needed two photos to capture my faves.  And I am going in order of application:

IMG_2769

The two skincare products I’ve chosen are the Derma E Firming DMAE Cleanser and the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.  I featured the Derma E Cleanser in my most recent Project Pan.  I was proud that I panned it, but I’m also sad that I’m all out!  It really cleanses the skin without drying it out.  And it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.  I just started using the Elemis cream.  It is so beautiful!  I started out using it morning and night, but I’m almost out, so I only use it in the morning.  It’s so nice under makeup.  It’s smooths and hydrates my skin and my makeup applies smoother.

I then like to spritz some Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I discovered it this year and really like using it before pore filling primer.  My favorite has been the Cover FX Blurring Primer.  I’m almost out of it, but I love how well it fills in my pores.  I received it in BoxyCharm and am very impressed bye it. I want to try more primers from Cover FX this year.  I next like to apply BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector before I apply foundation and concealer.  It instantly makes my dark circles look lighter.

My favorite foundation this year is the Physician’s Formula The Healthy Foundation. I have it in the shade LC1. It’s a bit light for me, except for this time of year.  I will probably purchase it in a darker shade for the spring and summer.  It has a natural medium coverage finish which is exactly what I like in a foundation. I have used up a Flower Beauty Light Illusion Concealer and am working on a second one now that I found in my drawer.  I think the first one I used was in Fair and this one is in Light, but they are both so beautiful on.  It’s full coverage but looks very natural. I just panned the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in 10 Fair Light.  I have been using it for most of 2018. It sets the face so nicely and gives a hint of color.

IMG_2771IMG_2773

After I apply my foundation and powder, I bronze with the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer.  I purchased this in the spring and have been using it all year! It applies smoothly and blends out so well.  And the smell is divine! The Natasha Denona Super Glow Highlighter in #1 Fair is one of my favorites of the year.  I purchased this when I was trying to buy the Anastasia Amrezy Highlighter earlier in the year, but it was sold out.  (I have recently purchased it and will be reviewing it soon). The Natasha highlighter is very blinding, but can be toned down with a little powder.

Speaking of Anastasia, I purchased a Blush Trio in Peachy Love earlier this year at an Ulta sale. I love mixing the first and third color to brighten up my light skin.  I also love the bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in On the Mauve for cooler toned looks. To finish off face products, I want to mention the Urban Decay setting sprays, especially the Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray.  I used it up this fall and don’t have the bottle, but it was my summer setting spray.  It feels so nice on and  my makeup lasts all day.

For eye shadow this year, my favorite is the Urban Decay Born To Run Eyeshadow Palette.  I love the quality and the variety of colors. My honorable mention is one I just received in my BoxyLuxe, the Violet Voss Holy Grail PRO Eyeshadow Palette.  I don’t know when this was released, but it’s new to me! I still need to review it, but spoiler alert, it’s gorgeous!

I have short, sparse lashes so although mascara helps, my lashes never looked amazing until I started using the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer under my mascara.  I received a small sample in an Ulta order in Spring and I purchased a full size.  I think it’s time to get another one, because I don’t want to be without!  The Buxom Lash Mascara works perfectly over it and my lashes look long and lush, almost like I’m wearing falsies!

Although my lashes are sparse, my brows are dark and full.  As I age, they are finally thinning out and I have started to fill them in.  I received the L.A. Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil as a free gift the same time I received the L’Oreal lash primer.  The words have rubbed off, so I’m not even sure what the shade is.  I think it’s Blackest Brown.  Whatever it is, it’s perfect for me!  It’s very thin and easy to draw on brow hairs.  And it has a nice spooly on the end.  I’ts only $5.99 so I will be purchasing  new one once I run out.

And lastly is lips.  I am sooooo glad that gloss made a comeback this year!  Light rosy and nude glosses are my favorites.  I love a lot — Buxom, Lorac, Dose of Colors — but my favorite is the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.  It’s a beautiful nude-rose shade and is really hydrating, not sticky at all.  My favorite lipstick is the Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes in Nothing But The Truth.  I also love The Truth and The Whole Truth.  These are the original three in the collection, but there are now 6 more nude shades and I want them!  These lipsticks are creamy and hydrating on.  So nice if you like nude lipsticks!

Whew!  That was a long post!  What did you love this year?  Any winners I should check out?
