My Beauty Favorites Week of May 25-May 31, 2015

I hope you all had a great weekend! It rained in Kansas City most of the week, but was sunny today. We took advantage of it by going to the zoo today. It was so nice to be outside.

Each week in my favorites round-up this summer, I will try to include some type of sunscreen. It is important to use sunscreen all year-long, but especially during the summer when the sun can be extreme and we are outside more!

My faves this week include anti-aging sunscreen, makeup for a flawless face, floral scents and detangling combs for summer hair.

What I think: I was so excited to try this! I haven’t been using concealer lately, because I have been trying to scale down my daily makeup routine. This product claims to be a concealer and foundation — and it is! I start by tapping it under my eyes for concealer, then I apply it on the rest of my face with the fabulous brush that is included. Conair Anti-static Detangling Comb ($3.29 USD) — Anti-static comb prevents flyaway problems. Detangle without causing split ends. Evenly distribute conditioner to hair ends. Use with any hair type for volume. For wet or dry styling.

What I think: I have been using this comb on myself (and my daughters) after baths and during styling. Leaves my hair smooth and soft!

My kids just got out of school for summer break on Friday, so our summer has started! Between planning how to keep them busy and our road trip to Yellowstone, I am getting so excited for warmer weather and fun! What I think: These products are essential for summer mishaps! Their portable sizes are perfect for first aid kits for travel and to keep at home. My kids (and husband) always come to me with boo-boo’s, and the Q’urSkin is like an effective spray bandaid. The Q’urBurn relieves the pain (campfire’s anyone?) and the Q’urFollica does help with razor burn!

Product Round-Up — My Fave Beauty Things Week of October 27 – November 2, 2014

What I think: These are all gorgeous products. My favorite is the CC Cream. It is a medium coverage foundation and applies very smoothly. I have noticed while trying a lot of BB and CC creams that they can have an orange cast to them and are almost balm-like, but this one is light and easy to blend. The color is great, too!

Product Round-Up — My Fave Beauty Things Week of July 28th!

How’s your summer going? Mine is heating up again and I am on vacation this coming week — yay! I am going to hang out with my kids before they go back to school the week after. Fun!

My fave picks this week are all about summer beauty. From a cool lip balm with SPF, to a sweat-proof foundation, an unscented spray sunscreen, a matte cream bronzer and a refreshing toner — there is something here to help extend your summer fun! Enjoy!

What I think: I have been using Carmex in the pot since the ’90’s and love how it moisturizes my lips. I didn’t know it came in different flavors and am enjoying the Lime Twist. It is a refreshing addition to the Carmex line and is perfect for the summer, especially with SPF 15!

What I think: Need an awesome summer foundation that will stay all day? This is it! It is very light, but covers extremely well and makes my complexion look flawless. I have been testing it in the shade Buff, which is a medium shade, but there are 24 shades to choose from, which is pretty amazing!

Coola Sport SPF 50 Unscented Sunscreen ($32 USD, 6 fl. oz.) — Spritz your sunscreen on the go with this clear, unscented continuous spray. What I think: I love spray sunscreen, but have never tried an unscented one before. I like it because it is sheer and not greasy at all. And it is nice to get a break from heavily scented sunscreen. Just spray and go!

What I think: This matte cream bronzer is an easy way to add some color this summer (or all year ’round). It is very natural looking. You can use it all over for a sunny glow. I like to use it as contour. I apply it in the hollows of my cheeks and along my jawbone for definition and shadows. It is easy to build up darker color if you wish.

Algenist Hydrating Essence Toner ($25 USD 5 fl. oz.) –This hydrating toner combines alguronic acid with witch hazel and chamomile to tone and soothe skin gently, creating a complexion that appears revitalized, brightened, and softened. The formula replenishes and balances skin’s moisture levels, purifies, and prepares skin to absorb serums and moisturizers more efficiently.

What I think: I love using toners in the summer. I have been keeping this in the refrigerator to keep my skin cool. I have noticed that my kin feels cleaner and softer while using this.

Bath and Body Products To Keep You Fresh This Summer!

Did you have a great Memorial Day weekend? I did! Even though it rained a lot, I got to enjoy some sun. So I’ve decided to review some of the summer products that I have been loving.

Below are reviews of sunscreen, moisturizers and a natural deodorant. These products are perfect for this time of year.

L’Occitane Jenipapo Body Jelly Milk ($30 USD) — With a light jelly cream texture and SPF 20, this protective body milk enriched with vegetal ingredients helps prevent sunburns while moisturizing the skin with a non-greasy protective film. What I think: This is a perfect after-sun lotion. It is thick, but not greasy at all. Plus it really soothes skin after being out in the sun. It has a rich, fresh scent. Love!

What I think: I love the scent of lemon, and this is so good! It has the bright lemon scent with warm vanilla notes. And it is really moisturizing. I love to keep this one at work, because the fresh scent doesn’t offend anyone.

Schmidt’s Deodorant ($9 USD) –By eliminating underarm odor and wetness without the use of harmful chemicals, Schmidt’s offers a no-guilt alternative to conventional brands. Free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens & phthalates.

What I think: I like this deodorant, it works so much better for me than I thought it might. I usually need the heavy-duty clinical strength deodorant. This keeps me dry, which is amazing, but my natural odor does start to mingle with the deodorant after a few hours. Which isn’t bad, but I don’t like to smell at all. I can see using this on the weekends when I want to take a break from the clinical deodorant.

Ready To Tan? — Do It Safely With Self-Tanner, and Protect Your Skin With SPF

I am a huge advocate of using sunscreen all year round, but especially during the warm seasons when I go outside more than usual.

But, I also love not being pasty white in the summer! So I have not only intensified my sunscreen efforts, I have began self-tanning. I never get super dark, but I do like a bit of a glow.

Below are products to help get ready for the sun — and to help you look like you’ve been soaking up the rays!

What I think: If you want to get a gradual, natural looking tan, this product is for you! I love the guide color, it makes it easy to see where you have and have not applied the products yet. And it smells nice, which is important if you decide to apply it every day.

What I think — This comes in Fair, Medium, and Dark. I like using the Medium. This is very easy to apply. Just squirt the mousse onto a tanning mitt or gloves, and rub in. Really fast! It does last longer than a long time without fading, which I love. It smells pretty good, but there is a faint smell to it.

Jane Iredale Powder-Me ($45.50 USD) — This dry sunscreen can be used on the body, face and scalp for UVB/UVA SPF 30 protection and is water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. What I think: This sunscreen is easy to apply with the built-in applicator. I have it in the Translucent, which is good to use on the face, body and hair. I think the other two would be fun to try in the summer, especially in cute summer outfits!
