My Beauty Favorites Week of August 9-16, 2015

My kids started school last week and I can’t believe that summer is over for us! But, it is still hot and I want to enjoy the last of these hot days by enjoying some new makeup that is perfect for summer!

This week, my faves include a tinted body balm, metallic tattoo jewelry, a summery pink lipstick, and a fun glitter nail top coat.

What I think: These are so fun and pretty! All the girls in my house are loving them, as they work for all ages. Plus, they are great adornments when you don’t want to bother with jewelry.

What I think: This is a beautiful lipstick. It glides on so smoothly and is very moisturizing. The color is well pigmented and lasts a long time. The pink is bright and lovely, too.

OPI On Pinks & Needles ($8 USD) Polish spreads quick, even, and leaves itself streak free. The brush also has stacked bristles which apply more polish than regularly spaced bristles. OPI polishes are designed with quality and excellence in mind, and almost exclusively sold only to nail professionals.

What I think: As a top coat, this polish enhances any polish with pink glitter of various sizes. It can also be worn on its own. Just a few coats and it will be so pretty!

Here are my swatches. The top two are from the ShadowClutch duo Fancy Flutter. The bottom six are from the ShadowClutch palette Pretty Proper. The shades top to bottom are Feather, Plume, Chantilly Lace, Suede, Brocade, Cashmere, Satin and Velvet.

There is a nice mix of matte and shimmer. The colors are very well pigmented and last a long time with the use of a primer. The palette includes a double ended brush that works well with the shadows, they are silky and glide on nicely. Plus, the neutral shades are perfect for fall.

The Brightening Peel is a quick way to get skin smooth and glowing. I like to use it in the morning about 3 times a week. Apply, wait 1 minutes and wash off. And in the evening, I apply the Night Treatment to cleansed skin and in the morning my pores look smaller and smooth. Love!

My Beauty Favorites Week of July 27-August 1, 2015

My children are going back to school in a week and a half. Even though summer is winding down for us, it is still blazing hot out! And, I still need to use summer beauty products to treat my skin during the hot weather.

This week I am loving a anti-aging power serum, a hydrating body lotion, moisturizing lip balm and a fun travel fragrance bottle.

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate ($78 for 1.0 oz; $105 for 1.7 oz; $135 for 2.5 oz.; $175 for 3.4 oz.) — an innovative serum that sinks in instantly — and quickly transforms your skin. What I think: I have been using this serum for a short period of time, but I already see a difference in my skin. After use, my skin’s texture is more even and glowy. I am looking forward to continued use and to see improvements in other areas soon!

What I think: I feels that I need lots of moisture in the summer, especially on my legs and feet. This is perfect to apply after a shower or at night time, when you want extra moisture. The scent is very mild and creamy. It does not linger and will not interfere with your other fragrances.

Having a Heat Wave? Treat Your Skin With Warm Weather Skin Care!

I’ll admit, the thought of using heavy creams and sunscreens when it’s blazing hot is not fun. Luckily, there is amazing skincare that works without making your skin feel like it has a pile of grease on it!

I have been testing some amazing lighter skincare including fresh masks, and after-sun gel, an SPF moisturizer, an eye serum and sheer sunscreen for face and body:

Indie Lee’s Clearing Mask ($60 USD) — It can be difficult to keep your face hydrated and also clear of blemishes in the hotter months. This mask will simultaneously rehydrate and detoxify your skin, leaving you simply radiant. Its fruit acids will brighten your complexion and with weekly use, you’ll have skin like you’ve started a new facial routine.

What I think: It’s difficult to want to put on a mask when it is hot, because you don’t really want goop on your skin. This mask is refreshing and my skin felt soft, but not greasy afterwards. It was also helped clear up the few blemishes that are on my skin from the summer heat.

Acure’s Cell Regenerating Mask ($12.99 USD) — Get serious cell repair with this mask. French Green Clay draws out impurities while Moroccan Argan Oil, CoQ10 and Seabuckthorn Oil add intense hydration back to the skin.

What I think: This is perfect for stressed summer skin. When I use it, I can feel it working and when I wash it off, my skin is smooth and soft! Great natural product for the price!

Korres Greek Yoghurt After-Sun Cooling Gel ($26 USD) — If you get a burn, don’t let it dry your skin! This is an ultra-cooling cream gel that provides long-lasting freshness and comfort to the face and body. Ideal for after sun exposure, yogurt hydrates the skin, instantly relieving excessive heat and stinging.

What I think: Luckily, I haven’t had a bad burn this summer (it’s too hot to go outside!). But this cream is perfect whenever I have had too much sun and my skin is a bit red and tight. It also works well on my sensitive skin if I have left a peel or mask on too long and my skin is irritated.

I have noticed that my skin is smoother and clearer. I am hoping to see improvements in skin elasticity after I use it for a few weeks.

What I think: I am always excited to find a lightweight sunscreen. It is hard to get my kids to use the thick, goopy kind! This is light and sheer. And I like that it resists water, it is great for swimming and outdoor exercise.

Summer hair is, at the same time, easy and frustrating. By easy, I mean that you can sport uncomplicated styles like beachy waves and cute braids. It can also be frustrating to fight frizz and sun damage.

What I think: This is an excellent straightening iron! It heats up very quickly. I love how it straightens quickly and gives a ton of shine in one pass through my hair. I can style my hair so fast with this iron!

My Beauty Favorites Week of July 13-July 19, 2015

Summer is moving along, still hot, though! It was only 89 today in Kansas City, so that’s better than it has been.

This week I have been taking care of the skin on my face, body, even around my toes! The products I have been loving this week are:

What I think: What to do about blotchy summer skin? Use this blur pore and line minimizer! It instantly smoothes skin and minimizes lines, pores and other imperfections. Plus it feels light on, which is important during the summer.

What I think: I have to say that I do love spray moisturizers. They are quick and easy to use. This moisturizer has a clean scent and feels cool when sprayed on. I spray it down my arms and legs then rub it in. Fast and it leaves my skin so soft! Perfect for burned skin or even just skin that is dry from chlorine and self-tanner.

Vaseline_® Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Spray Moisturizer is available in food, drug and mass retailers for $6.49 (SRP).

What I think: I haven’t had to use this yet, but I like how if myself or anyone in my family has nail fungus problems, this will help the appearance and feel of the skin around the nails. Very important for sandal season.

Fresh Lip Looks For The Summer

Have you been experimenting with new lip colors this summer? I have. And I have to say my choices have been pretty bold!

I’m normally a soft pink, coral or nude lip gloss girl. This summer, though, I have been trying brighter colors and lots of lipsticks!

It is more like a colored balm, but it lasts a long time. Frog Prince turns my lips a pretty pink and is really fun to use. It is also very hydrating.

What I think: These are so pretty. The colors are sheer and shimmery. They all look perfect with a tan! My favorite is SOHO a pretty coral. I think it would look great on all skin tones.
