I received a shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, black soap face bar, super face cream, a bath bomb, and a body lotion. All of these products smell wonderful and have really natural scents.
One of my favorites is the body lotion. The ingredients include raw coconut, acai, dragon fruit, lavender and African cucumber. It’s so hydrating, but sinks right into my skin without feeling greasy. The bath bomb is fun to use before applying the lotion.
The shampoo and conditioner are sulfate free along with organic and natural. That’s important for me, because I color my hair. They also leave hair soft and silky, and smell amazing, too!
I love that you can customize your bundle each month. That way you can try new products while continuing using your favorites.
We are completely into spring now, with summer on it’s way. And as it has been getting warmer (and more humid in Kansas City), my hair has been crying out for some TLC!
The products before really clean the hair and deeply moisturize it. So important when going into summer. I hope you find something to love and please leave a comment with your favorite warmer weather hair products!
Be HairWorks Set ($48 USD) — Be HairWorks is an innovative new product developed to remove product and mineral buildup from the hair. The only liquid formulation available on the market today, its unique formulation not only removes every day build-up caused from hairspray, gels, conditioners and shampoos, but also removes minerals. That’s important because minerals can block the effectiveness of all other hair care products. This set includes:
Be True Hair Purification — Be True is a gentle formula used to remove product and mineral build-up from the hair, purifying the hair back to its natural brilliance. DIRECTIONS: Wet hair thoroughly, work through hair using wide tooth comb or fingers. Leave in 5-10 min. Rinse.
Be Kind Cleanse — Be Kind is a moisturizing shampoo developed to kindly cleanse the hair. DIRECTIONS: After using Be True, lather and rinse.
Be Generous Deep Moisture Treatment — Be Generous was developed to generously add moisture, leaving the hair soft, shiny and lustrous. DIRECTIONS: After using Be Kind, work through hair with fingers or wide tooth comb. Leave in 5-10 min. Rinse.
What I think: This is an interesting concept, using three steps to get hair very clean and moisturized. I haven’t used a system like this before. And even though it is a bit of extra work, it really make my hair clean and so soft! My hair was also so shiny. Loved!

Summer hair is, at the same time, easy and frustrating. By easy, I mean that you can sport uncomplicated styles like beachy waves and cute braids. It can also be frustrating to fight frizz and sun damage.

Living in Kansas City can be quite the beauty challenge for my hair. The air is very dry in the winter so my hair becomes flyaway. The worst time of the year for my hair, though, is the summer. The humidity and heat turn my hair into a fuzzball. So frizz-free haircare is a must!
Living Proof’s No Frizz was created by a team of scientists by applying advanced technology to solve the problem of frizzy hair. They are launching another great breakthrough: No Frizz Shampoo, No Frizz Conditioner and No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner, a complete hair care collection that brings the frizz-fighting power of PolyfluoroEster to the most advanced cleansing and conditioning formulas.
Here are the new products and their descriptions:
No Frizz Shampoo ($24.00 8oz)was developed with PolyfluoroEster and SLMI, a gentle, sulfate-free surfactant that actually gives a luscious lather but removes any trace of dirt or oil without stripping the hair.
No Frizz Conditioner ($24.00 8oz) also contains PolyfluoroEster yet is completely devoid of the heavy oils, silicones and butters found in many frizz-fighting conditioners so it doesn’t weigh hair down.
No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner ($24.00 8oz) is an ideal option for drier hair, incorporating PolyfluoroEster with lightweight glycerin as the key moisturizing component instead of heavy oils, a first for a leave-in frizz-fighting product. No Frizz Leave-In conditioner is one of the only oil-free, silicone-free leave-in conditioners available on the market.
For my hair, I like to use all three of the products. I first shampoo, then apply conditioner and leave it in for a few minutes. I then towel-dry my hair and use the leave-in conditioner for extra smoothness. This really helps my hair say soft and manageable and cuts down on the frizzies.
The new No Frizz hair care collection will be available in Sephora, Sephora.com, QVC, QVC.com and www.livingproof.com beginning September 2009.

Wonderful? Yes, but even more wonderful is that the natural ingredients are so good for your hair! They are “an exclusive blend of exotic natural and renewable ingredients. Rich Cupuacu butter from the South American Amazon, nutrient rich super volumizing volcanic ash from the Vanuatu islands of the South Pacific, Blue Algae, and Polynesian White Ginger (to name but a few).”
The products are free of sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, and animal products. And of course, free from all animal testing.
The best thing of all (for people watching their wallets)? These quality products are affordable — with many of them just $9.95! Here are 3 of my favorites:
Amplifying Shampoo ($9.95 13.5 oz) is touted to add lift and luster to fine, limp hair (like mine). Volcanic ash brings volume, white ginger enhances sine and coconut oil created the rich lather. This is not only safe for color-treated hair, it will help the color last longer.
Amplifying Conditioner ($9.95 13.5 oz) — this product also contains volcanic ash, white ginger and also has blue algae to strengthen, smooth and to create shine.
Hair Polish ($9.95 1.7 oz) contains nettle, orchid, oat, cucumber and white ginger to keep hair stronger and healthier. Wheat and Rice proteins offer natural damage control. This is a light cream that you use on damp hair before styling.
Using these three products together, my hair becomes a totally different entity. It has tons of body and hold. I used it this morning and now at bedtime I still have volume, bounce and shine. And it feels so soft and natural. These are some of the best hair products I have tried lately!
ApHogee is a product line that was developed as a serious approach to hair care. The website states, “it has been proven that superior results require healthy hair with structural integrity and a proper balance of strength, elasticity, and smoothness. This is why ApHogee products include our exclusive PropHytamine Complex which utilizes precise levels of proteins, emollients, and humectants to achieve and maintain healthy hair.”
The cool thing about this line is that it can be used on all types and textures of hair including color-treated, permed and relaxed. It is touted to help in the treatment of severe hair damage, and the correction of dryness, dullness, brittleness, limpness, splitting, and frizz. Two of my favorite ApHogee products are.
Shampoo for Damaged Hair ($7.99) — This rich, luxurious shampoo was created to clean gently and to not harm color, perm or relaxer services. It contains proteins, emollients and vitamins to restore sheen and pliability to hair and can be used safely everyday on chemically treated hair. My hair gets so frizzy in the summer and I see an immediate difference after I use this shampoo. It instantly makes my hair soft and flowy. And it smells very refreshing and a bit citrusy.
Gloss Therapy Hair Polish — ($8.99) — This is a great, non-greasy hair gloss. Use a dime size on towel dried hair if it is fine, and apply more for coarser, thicker hair. It smooths, detangles and fixes split ends. Plus it shields hair against UV damage and frizz while brightening highlights.
Folicure is a haircare line to help thicken fine and thinning help. The Folicure’s System promotes a clean scalp and fuller, thicker hair with scientific formulas specially developed for fine or thinning hair. Folicure treatment, shampoo, conditioners, and styling products may be used individually or in conjunction with one another for maximum benefits.
Folicure Shampoo (approx. 14.75 USD) was created to remove sebum and clean gently without stripping away natural nutrients found on a healthy scalp. Folicure Original Conditioner’s (approx. 14.75 USD) exclusive scientific formulation provides added body, fullness and shine to fine and thinning hair. This conditioner is left in the hair and continues to work until it is washed out. It contains no greasy additives to weigh hair down.
I really like the shampoo it really cleans the hair, but still keeps it soft. The conditioner works well, too, but the very strong peppermint scent is a little much for me. My husband really likes both products. They would work well for both men and women.
The Folicure website, www.folicure.com, is down right now, but check back to learn more about the products, which are sold on various beauty websites. Just search for Folicure to find what you need.
Redken has released a haircare line that is for protecting and repairing hair in the summer heat and humidity. The Color Extend Sun Line is touted to “protect highlights, safeguard color and replenish sun-stressed strands. Redken’s exclusive Interbond Conditioning System and advanced Hydra-Shield Complex with Soplexyl™, a patented UV filter, provide powerful protection while restoring lost moisture and luminous shine.”
The line includes the following:
Color Extend Sun After-Sun Shampoo — ($15.00 USD) – Gently cleanses and removes minerals, chlorine and salt deposits while helping to repair sun-damaged hair.
Color Extend Sun After-Sun Mask — ($15.00 USD) — Instantly detangles and revitalizes sundamaged hair with intense moisture replenishment and repair.
Color Extend Sun After-Sun Sparkling Shield — ($16.00 USD) — Helps provide water-resistant protection against UVA/UVB rays, chlorine and minerals while creating a sleek, polished finish.
I always feel good when I know my haircare products are safe on my color-treated hair. This is especially important during the summer when I am outside or in the swimming pool with my kids. The shampoo seems to get all of the chlorine and minerals out of our hair after swimming and the mask brings back the moisture. My daughters enjoy the Sparkling Shield which leaves a little glimmer in the hair.

For my last review in my hair-stravaganza week, I decided to review a home hair color. In this crazy economical climate, I need to cut at lease a few corners when it comes to beauty. Clairol, a leader in the home hair color arena, is a good one to try.
A few weeks back, I attended a webinar on home hair color featuring Clairol’s Natural Instincts (approximately $9.49 USD). It touted Natural Instincts non-permanent, ammonia free color as a healthy alternative to harsher products. The color lasts through 28 shampoos and is gentle enough to be used once a month.
Something interesting that was featured on the webinar is that you can use a shade that is lighter than your natural hair color, and it won’t change the color, but enhance it.
So far I have tried Golden Cappuccino from the Golden Shimmer collection. It is a dark golden brown that is very pretty. It gave my hair a warm, golden tint. Next I am going to try Clove, a medium ash brown. It’s a very pretty cool color that will add a different hue to my hair.
To check out the different colors and types of Natural Instincts as well as other Clairol hair color, visit the website at www.clairol.com.
