I’m back with my final Project Pan of the year! I’m pretty proud that I’ve done three so far!
As you can see from the photo above, I have 5 makeup items this time and 5 skincare products. This is the most makeup products I’ve had in a pan so far. Hopefully I’ll get through them all! Here are the products I’ve chosen:
These are the LORAC Mod Lip Gloss from the Beauty and the Beast Collection that launched last year. These shades are Savoir Faire (nude peachy rose), True Beauty (pale mauve) and Belle-ieve (nude). I’ve had these for abut a year, so they are at the end of their life span! They are very hydrating (not sticky at all) and are so pretty alone or over a lipstick.
I’ve recently purchased and received a bunch of lip glosses, so I need to use these up. I would say they are about half or 3/4 used up, so hopefully I can get through all three by the end of the year. I am trying to use them every day, and even multiple times a day since they are so hydrating.
Here are swatches of the glosses — Savoir Faire, True Beauty, and Belle-ieve. I love all three shades!
I am trying to pan two concealers. The top one is Colourpop No Filter Conealer in Light 12 and Flower Beauty Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer in Light. I’m trying to use up my concealers, because there are so many new concealers that have been released that I want to try. But I don’t want to buy any until I use up a few!
These are both nice, here are swatches:
The left is the Flower Beauty one and the right is the Colourpop. The Flower Beauty concealer is more moisturizing and the Colourpop is more matte. They are both really nice and I eventually might buy them both again. I actually have a back up of the Flower Beauty one, but it’s in a different shade, I think Fair. Which will work out in the winter when I am paler.
I think the Flower Beauty once is only about a 3rd full and the Colourpop Concealer is about half full.
Now on to the skincare! Left to right is Derma-E Firming DMAE Cleanser, Yes to Cotton anti-pollution Oxygenated Facial Mask, and the Talika Eye Dream.
The Derma-E cleanser is so nice. It cleans without drying and leaves my skin soft and firm! It’s about half full. The Yes to Cotton mask is almost full, so I need to use it a few times a week to empty it by the end of the year. I just have so many masks I need to start using. The Talika eye cream is hydrating without being greasy. It’s about half for 3/4 full.
Last but not least are these products by Pixi Beauty. The Retinol tonic is over half full and the wonderful Rose Glow Mist is under half full. I have lots of mists and need to use some up!
So that’s my 4th and last Project Pan of the year! I’ll be doing updates and hopefully I will use it all up!
I’m still deciding if I’ll do this again next year…we’ll see!
Hi all! I received my September BoxyCharm this week. I wasn’t as excited as I usually am. I don’t know if you’ve heard that they have released a larger box called BoxyLuxe. On the day it released, I got up early and tried for 5 hours to subscribe. I didn’t get it and am on the waiting list for December’s BoxyLuxe (it’s quarterly). So, I’m a bit salty towards BoxyCharm right now and am trying to decide if I want to keep the subscription.
Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 5-6 beauty items, most of them full-sized. It is a nice way to try new makeup and beauty tools.
I just want to say that I’m not going to swatch any of these because I will be giving most of it away to friends…
This Laura Geller baked blush is in the shade Tropic Hues. It’s a pretty shimmery coral/pink. I think this would be really pretty in the spring/summer seasons. I have tried Laura Geller blushes before and they are very nice — light and shimmery.
I love LORAC lip glosses. They are so comfortable and not sticky at all. I haven’t tried their liquid lips. I wear nudes and pinks, so this isn’t for me, but I have a friend who will love it!
The eyeliner has a tiny pizza cutter like roller on the applicator. This is to roll it on your eyelids. I am not an eyeliner expert, but I tried this and it’s really hard to use! I’ll see if my daughter can figure it out.
This is the Pretty Vulgar Nightingale palette. It’s a cool toned, smoky palette. I think this will be really nice for fall and winter! I have these types of shades, so I will be passing it on, but it’s pretty and the packaging is fun!
This is the one item I’m keeping out of the September box. I LOVE theses brushes! The green handles are fun and the brushes work really well. I have already used these. I really enjoy getting quality eye brushes!
So, I think this is a nice box. The items will make great gifts. I think I may be on product overload, though. I think I’m going to keep BoxyCharm until December to see if I get the next BoxyLuxe.
Do you get BoxyCharm or did you get BoxyLuxe this month (lucky)? What did you think of the September box?
I’ve been looking back at my favorite and most used beauty products — new discoveries. I have noticed that all above are makeup and not skincare. This is curious, since I am a 40-something blogger who loves trying anti-aging products. I guess I didn’t really find anything amazing in skin care last year. This year I’m going to focus more on finding and using (I get lazy) anti-aging skin care, plus using up the ones I have. Tomorrow will be the start of my first Project Pan, skin care exclusive!
But today, I am reflecting on the gorgeous makeup above, some I use every day:
Ofra Beverly Hills Highlighter ($40 USD) — I was sent a bunch of amazing Ofra products for review in August (see review here). I love a lot of it, but this is the product that I use most often. I love that there are 5 shades, I can blend them together or use one or two on their own. The two largest pans, a soft gold and rose gold are my favorites and I love using them together. This is the product that really got me interested in highlighters and I use it more because it this one!
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealing Pot ($28 USD) — I received this and the foundation for review (here). I use both products almost every day. I love this because it is so creamy. I use it under my eye, but also all over the face. It’s great for covering redness. I’ve recently bought a new concealer with a drier texture for under my eye (so it will stay put), but I will continue to use this to cover rednes.
LORAC Pirates of The Caribbean Mod Lip Cream Duo ($26, on sale for $13) — I received a bunch of these this year. Although I announced it on my blog here, I only reviewed the eye shadow palette. On one end is a creamy lipstick and the other end is a natural looking lip gloss, not too shiny or sticky. These are gorgeous alone or layered. The shade in the photo is Risk it All.
Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($27 USD) — I purchased this on Black Friday because I had been wanting to try it since it came out. It’s tiny, but the pan sizes are nice, they take up the whole palette, no unused space. They shades are so pretty and I can make a few different looks with them. This is one I can take with my on trips because it’s so portable. You can see my review here.
COVER FXIlluminating Setting Spray ($31 USD) – I received this in my November BoxyCharm. I have really just started using setting sprays this year and was really excited to try this one. It has been working so well for me in the cold weather. My skin has been dry and a bit dull. This spray gives my skin hydration and nice dewy skin. It’s not greasy on me at all, but I will probably use a matte spray in hot weather. Plus, it keeps my makeup fresh all day!
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Foundation ($38 USD) — This is a serum foundation. It’s really light and I’d say a medium coverage. I am looking for a heavier coverage for the new year, but this has been a nice foundation. It blends really well and looks so natural. Plus, I love that it’s good for my skin.
Tomorrow, hopefully, I will post my first ever Project Pan. It will be for the skincare I want to use up in the next three months. Wish me luck!

I find a little goes a long way with these. The cheek colors are so romantic, but that gold highlighter called Fearless tho! So pretty. They all blend so well.

Part 3 and the final post of my summer prep spectacular showcases awesome makeup! Looking for a foundation with SPF? Waterproof mascara? Bronzers? Bright lip color? Me too! And I found some great new picks!
In this post, I review cosmetics from Mary Kay, Ramy, FACE Stockholm, LORAC and Osmotics. Maybe you’ll find something that you love, too!
Mary Kay CC Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15
Mary Kay Brush Cleaner
Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara
In the summer months, we all want a makeup bag that’s a little lighter product wise. When streamlining makeup bags for the warmer months, it’s okay to keep some of the powder-based products with hues that will transition nicely into the changing seasons – just keep in mind that spring and summer means brighter hues. Have some fun with color, especially when it comes to eye shadows, eyeliners and lip shades!
Mary Kay® CC Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($20 USD) — A perfect multi-tasker with eight skin benefits in just one tube. This product is light enough for summer, yet creates a gorgeous natural finish – plus, it helps protect skin with broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Mary Kay® Lash Love® Waterproof Mascara ($15 USD) — Beat the heat and keep lashes looking gorgeous. For extra lasting power, use an eyelash primer like Mary Kay® Lash Primer. This is a great combo for the pool or beach!
Mary Kay® Brush Cleaner ($10 USD) — While updating colors for each season is important, it’s a “must” to thoroughly clean makeup brushes, especially since skin produces more oil and sweat in the warmer months. And, don’t forget to replace mascara at least four times per year.
Ramy Face Glosses ($18.50 USD) — offer an all-over glow that’s designed to be worn on the eyes, cheeks or lips. The waterproof formula contains antioxidants Aloe, Wheat Germ and Vitamins A and D to pamper and protect skin. The sheer washes of color are non-creasing on eyes, ultra-hydrating on lips and super long-wearing on cheeks, plus the portable compact allows for easy on-the-go application and come in 5 perfect shades including Sugar Glow!, Face Candy!, Casual Sex!, On-the-Go Glow!, and Sunlit Glow!
Ramy Elixir Skin Conditioning Primer ($40 USD) — Formulated with cucumber and St. Johns Wort, it cools skin, reducing redness and inflammation, while safflower and apricot kernel firm skin. Plus, this cooling primer leaves skin smoothed, soothed and prepped in one easy-breezy step. ($40)
Ramy Perfect Brow Wand ($28 USD) — This dual-ended, universally flattering brow filler and highlighter boasts a waterproof gel formula for maximum staying power with a natural finish. Be sure to always brush though product for flawless wear.
Ramy products are available at Ramy.com, Amazon.com and LOOK Boutiques nationwide.
Face Stockholm Summer 2014 — Like the dark steel gray of an impending thunderstorm on a hot summer day, our look for summer is stormy and mysterious with a strong emphasis on the vivid Matte Orange lip. From the FACE Stockholm website, here is how to achieve the look:
For a clean and hydrated look for summer, start with FACE Stockholm BB Natural Beauty Balm ($38 USD). This can be applied with clean fingertips or a makeup brush (try FACE Stockholm Foundation Brush #34) for a flawless finish. For a more matte look, lightly dust with FACE Stockholm Loose Powder ($26 USD).
Using FACE Stockholm Chisel Contour Brush #5, apply FACE Stockholm Blush ($20 USD) in Sun-Kissed from the apples of the cheek to the temples.
Create a warm, smoky eye. As a base, apply Krämögonskugga in Chintz ($24 USD) all over the lid. Then, using FACE Stockholm Blender Brush #39, apply Granit Matte Shadow ($20 USD) on top, being sure to blend well. For a more dramatic look, add a sweep of Platina Matte Shadow ($20 USD) on the outer third of lid. Finally, define the lower lash line with Granit Matte Shadow using our Angular Sable Brush #13.
Use FACE Stockholm Sable Fluff Brush #12S to apply Highlighter Destiny ($25 USD) to the inner corner of the eye. Add a little dab on the cheekbones too, or anywhere else you’d like to add a little glow. Apply FACE Stockholm Luxe Lash Mascara ($32 USD) to the top and bottom lashes.
For the lips, use FACE Stockholm Medium Lip Brush #18 to apply Matte Orange Lipstick ($22 USD), with precise and clean lines. For even heavier color saturation, start with Helen Lipliner. For a dewy day look, add a dab of clear Lipgloss #1; or finish with Correct Pencil to add a soft highlight around the lip.

LORAC Wild For TANtalizer® Collection ($39 USD) — This limited-edition set contains all the warm-weather must-haves including an eye shadow quad with shimmering gold and bronze eye shadows, a limited-edition animal-print face bronzer, TANtalizer Lips With Benefits Gloss in a super sexy peach-bronze shade, and an exotic canvas bag with animal-print details.
I love the colors in this set. The eye shadow palette give a sexy, smoky eye and the bronzer and lip gloss are light and glowy. Perfect for hot summer nights! Available at www.loraccosmetics.com.
I have been lucky to try some fab products from the new Simply Vera Vera Wang COSMETICS collections, including the ones below. The shades and formulas are shimmery and so summery! I love:
Simply Vera Vera Wang COSMETICS Illuminating Powder Blush ($19.50 USD) — Give cheeks a soft, radiant glow with sheer yet buildable color. Included brush helps you create the perfect illuminating color on your cheeks. Powder blush is perfect for summer because it is longer wearing than cream blush — great for summer!
Simply Vera Vera Wang COSMETICS Smoothing Lipcolor ($18.50 USD) — Glide on for rich color that reduces the appearance of fine, dry lines. This lipstick is almost like a balm because it is so moisturizing, but the colors are well pigmented.
Simply Vera Vera Wang COSMETICS Transforming Shadow Duo ($19.50 USD) — A new approach to shadow duos – the sophisticated pairs define, shape and enhance eyes. Wear individually or together. Matte and shimmering finishes provide you with options.
The only thing that I don’t care for about this collection are that the many shades are numbered and do not have actual names. It’s kind of confusing that way! Available at Kohl’s store and www.kohls.com.
BECCA Cosmetics Balearic Love Collection — BECCA invites you to dream of distant shores and unguarded temptation with the Balearic Love Collection.
BECCA Cosmetics Mineral Blush ($32 USD) is a luxury powder for cheeks, imparting natural, luminous colour that is ultra-kind to skin. This longwearing mineral contains a hint of highlight to lift the complexion, with a delicate formula that never appears cakey or chalky. I love the Bolero color which is a demi-matte bronze. This will help enhance a tan — like the fake one I am sporting!
BECCA Cosmetics Eye Tint ($24 USD) — An ingenious eye crème with a unique formulation that glides on as a crème and sets to a powder. This long-lasting, water-resistant, crease-resistant tint is easy to apply, offering adjustable levels of sheer to high pigment colour.
This is so pretty, but it is more of a thick liquid than a cream and collects in the crease of my eye. I have to blend it out of the crease with a brush or my fingers. But it does last a fairly long time.
BECCA Cosmetics Line and Define Pencil ($23 USD) — A combination liner and brightener in one, this convenient dual-ended pencil has a soft, smooth texture that glides on easily to line, define and brighten the eyes, while blending easily. The dark side of BECCA’s Line & Define Pencil lavishly lines while the light side helps brighten and awaken tired eyes for a vibrant and youthful effect.
I have this in Cabrera — metallic bronze on one side and deep violet on the other. The colors are gorgeous and very smooth in application. I love using the Violet for the top lash and the bronze for the bottom. But, they do not last and smear under my eyes only an hour or two after wear. I tried to wear it at work one day and had to remove it shortly after arriving, because it was running down my face. So sad, because it is so pretty!
BECCA Cosmetics Nail Color ($15 USD) — This high-performance enamel coats nails with an immediate glossy shine that has superior lasting-power. With smooth, self-leveling colour that brushes evenly onto nails, BECCA Nail Colour delivers intense, fast-drying pigment for imminently wearable nails in 9 must-have colours. I love Cala Blanca (a sandy nude) for summer fingernails and Tempranillo (Plum Red) for my toes.
