Ever tried a natural fragrance before? I haven’t. But I have tried Liz Earle botanical skincare and it is wonderful. So I was excited to try their Botanical Essence No. 1 ($78.00 USD for 50ml/1.6fl.oz), which is made up of over 98% directly derived from natural ingredients including high-altitude lavender from France, damask rose from Turkey, Italian bergamot and spicy patchouli from Indonesia.   

The creator of the fragrance, Jean Charles Niel, took 3 years to finish it. He states, “This creative process gave me the time and the opportunity to craft a fragrance working with the highest quality ingredients.  Using the Instant Boost Skin Tonic as a starting point, I looked into the glamour of the brand and Liz’s image to create a vibrant sparkling floral with a beautiful rose at its heart translating into warmth and sensuality for the dry down.”      

The notes are:  

Top notes: bergamot, mandarin, orange bigarad, lemon, and Cardamom   

Middle notes: rose absolute, lavender,  geranium, coriander and nutmeg   

Base notes: cedarwood, vetiver, tonka bean and patchouli    

What I think: This fragrance is so complex, it took a few days for me to decide what I was smelling! The fruity notes battle with the spicy notes for dominance, but the spices win out. It is very deep and sexy, and if that is the type of fragrance you love, this is for you. It is a little strong for me, but I love the natural ingredients involved.

I have tried the Ala Moana Hand Wash, and it reminds me of my honeymoon in Hawaii many years ago. The scent of the flowers takes me away every time I wash my hands!  Very nice!

What I think: I love the gentle scents of the shampoo and conditioner; they smell really good! The shampoo foams well and really cleans my hair. The conditioner is nice, but I have very dry hair so after cleaning it so well, I need something richer. Still — excellent hair care for every day!

I like wearing bathrobes all year ’round, so I was happy to try the Cypress  “Kimono-style” Cypress Bathrobe ($38.00 USD). 

This robe is made of a kightweight knit with a diamond waffle weave and has nice roomy pockets. I love it and have been wearing it so much my husband has said, “Who do you think you are Hugh Hefner?” This of course has led to a discussion with my friends as to what you would call a male bunny…but I digress. 

I received this in a beautiful light green, but it is also available in blue, yellow, and coral so there is a shade for everyone!

If I didn’t rinse the gel all the way off, it would sting my freshly shaven skin a bit.  What I really like is that they are so different and the packaging is very cool!

What I think: I like the ease of this product — just spray on wet hair and you’re done. My scalp hasn’t burned yet this year, which is great, and I love that the spray is protection my color, which hasn’t faded. So I recommend this spray to protect the scalp and hair!

If you are getting tan (hopefully fake) and toned and ready for summer, a white smile will top it all off perfectly! Luster is a great brand that you can find in your favorite drugstore to whiten your teeth.  

Luster’s 1 Hour White ($39.99 USD) claims to brighten teeth in only an hour. Does it work? It did for me! I followed the instructions and my teeth were 5 shades whiter in an hour! It is an active hour, though. No sitting and waiting for your teeth to get white. You need to follow these directions:      

Step 1: Rinse with the Accelerator Mouth Rinse, which will enhance the efficacy of the professional strength whitening gel
Step 2: Brush on the Super Whitening Gel, the same whitening agent used by dentists during professional treatments
Step 3: Apply the Activating Whitening Light, which will stimulate the photo-activator in the gel in just 2 minutes
For best results, rinse and repeat for up to 1 hour.  

I found that if the whitening gel got on my lips, they tingled a bit, but my teeth were not sensitive from the products, which is a big plus. I have very sensitive teeth.  

Another good Luster whitening kit which my teenage daughter tried, was the Weekend White ($19.99) This kit contains the whitening gel and the mouth rinse. For 3 days, twice a day, you rinse your mouth, then brush on the gel, wait 10 minutes and rinse again with the mouth wash. My daughters teeth were about 4-5 shades whiter and she didn’t mind the process.
