Hydrate Skin With Kneipp Almond Blossom ‘Soft Skin’ Skincare Line

The air is getting cooler, which means my skin is getting drier! Good face care is more important than ever to keep my skin soft and comfortable.

I was send a selection of products from Kneipp, a natural skin and body care company. With Kneipp, I can cleans, prepare and hydrate my skin with their wide, moisturizing selection:

Kneipp Almond Blossom Cleansing Milk – “Soft Skin”

Kneipp Almond Blossom Cleansing Milk – “Soft Skin” ($15 USD) — gently cleanses and removes make-up without drying out the skin. It contains high-quality, nourishing almond oil and vitamin E.

What I think: First of all, the Almond Blossom scent is a bit powdery.  The scent does fade away after a while, if  that scent isn’t your favorite.

The cleanser is so easy to use.  I apply with a cotton pad, then use a moist cotton pad or towel to remove.  It cleans my skin well without drying it out.  I follow with the tonic (below).

Kneipp Almond Blossom Face Tonic – “Soft Skin”

Kneipp Almond Blossom Face Tonic – “Soft Skin” ($15 USD) — gently refreshes and cares for cleansed skin and removes any remaining cleansing milk. This face tonic with intensively nourishing pathenol does not contain alcohol.

What I think:  This actually helps remove the cleansing milk, but doesn’t dry out my face at all.  I love how clean it feels and that it doesn’t contain alcohol.

Kneipp Almond Blossom Light-Weight Face Lotion – “Soft Skin”

Kneipp Almond Blossom Light-Weight Face Lotion – “Soft Skin” ($25 USD) — with high-quality almond oil was developed especially for the needs of sensitive skin which it provides with lasting moisture. The gentle care protects and calms the skin and supports its natural regeneration. The light texture is rapidly absorbed and makes the skin feel velvety and nourished. The ideal care for every day. Also very suitable for use as a make-up base. The almond oil is very well tolerated by sensitive skin. The natural nourishing effect is enhanced by the combination of cell-protecting vitamin E and nourishing shea butter.

What I think: I think of this cream as a day cream.  It’s also great for hot and humid nights, when I don’t want to wear a heavy night cream!  It’s so light, but it’s also really hydrating.  And it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin!

Kneipp Almond Blossom Face Cream – “Soft Skin”

Kneipp Almond Blossom Face Cream – “Soft Skin” ($25 USD) — contains high-quality almond oil which is also very well tolerated by sensitive skin. The natural nourishing effect is enhanced by the cell-protecting combination of vitamins A and E, rich shea butter as well as skin-soothing panthenol. Because of its lipid-replenishing character, the intensively nourishing face cream makes the skin noticeably more supple, provides it with lasting moisture and supports the skin’s own protection from photo-aging.

What I think: This natural face cream comes in a cute little jar! It’s a great night cream — it does contain shea butter which really hydrates but can be heavier.  By morning, my skin is so soft and glowy!  This cream also does not irritate my sensitive skin.

These natural products are very effective and affordable for what they do for my skin!  None of them irritate and they hydrate without making my skin greasy!

The Get Twisted spray is a perfect final step, it keeps my waves bouncy all day.  I like how it isn’t stiff or sticky either.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of October 2-8, 2017

As it turns to fall (sort of) in Kansas City, I have been taking care of my skin because the weather has been fluctuating between cold evenings and mornings to hot afternoons.  My skin has been needing TLC!

So, my faves this week include a natural, all purpose balm, hydrating hand and body butter and fall hues of lip and nail colors in plum:

The Body Shop Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm

The Body Shop Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm ($10 USD) — Packed with powerful natural origin oils and waxes, this multi-tasking balm helps to revive the brightness and appearance of tattoos, intensely nourishes dry skin and minimizes the appearance of skin marks with a nourishing, 100% natural-origin formula. Inspired by the Amazonian communities that have relied on natural oils to care for their skin for centuries, Amazonian Saviour™ Multi-Purpose Balm is made with just nine, 100% natural-origin ingredients. Enriched with Community Trade organic babassu oil and organic andiroba oil from Brazil. 100% vegetarian and never tested on animals.

What I think: This works well all over, from lips to hands to knees.  It is fragrance and flavor free so it can be used by those with fragrance allergies.  I love it as a lip balm, but I am using it on my cuticles and skin imperfections, too.  It feels amazing on and the 1.6 oz tin will last me a while!

Available at The Body Shop stores nationwide and here: TheBodyShop.com/En

Karité Crème Corps Hydrating Body Cream

Karité Crème Corps Hydrating Body Cream ($46 USD) –This decadent, dermatologist-developed, hypo-allergenic moisturizer features 30% raw, unrefined shea butter sourced from Ghana (one of the highest concentrations available on the market), organic unrefined coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and an antioxidant-rich blend of rosemary and rooibos extracts.

This helps restore lost moisture and optimizes skin-barrier function while leaving skin smooth, soft and supple. Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E, it’s safe for all skin types and effective for problem spots such as elbows, knees and feet—and it’s the ideal complement to Karité Shea Butter Crème Mains Hand Cream ($36 USD).

What I think: Another all natural item, the body and hand creams are both rich and hydrating.  They have a light scent. Both are safe for sensitive skin and feel really nice on, plus they absorb quickly.

Purchase at http://www.mykarite.com

Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($5.79 USD) — Get ready for a bold, matte lip-look that stays on.a new liquid lipstick with high-intensity colour, a velvety matte finish and a long-lasting, comfortable wear.
What I think: Shown in Midnight and Plum This Show, two dark plum colors.  Plum This Show has a bit more reddish tones and Midnight is plummy purple.  They are both really pretty on.  They do stay on for a while, but are a bit drying as most matte colors are on me.  I think they are very pretty and affordable, which is great for picking up a few in fun colors!
Purchase at mass market retailers near you.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure ($7.99) — This all-in-one formula with keratin boasts 7 benefits in one bottle— base coat, strength, treatment, salon color, topcoat, chip resistance and gel shine finish. Complete Salon manicure delivers up to 64% stronger nails and up to 10 days of chip-resistant wear. What I think: I like both of these formula.  The Complete Salon Manicure has everything you need in one bottle, and I like that it’s easy!  But I think Color Therapy is my favorite formula because the color stays on for days and days!  And it is good for my nails.

My Current Fave Bath and Body Products From Le Couvent des Minimes

It definitely is starting to feel like fall in Kansas City. It’s a bit cooler at least.

I was sent the following Le Couvent des Minimes for my honest review. Made in a cloister in the French countryside, these products are crafted with care and love.

Smile Lip Balm Rose and Berries

Le Couvent des Minimes Smile Lip Balm Rose and Berries (Price: $9 USD) — I love the feel and scent of this lip balm.  Inspired by the sisters’ benevolent works, that so often brought a smile back to the faces of convent residents, the smile lip balm rose and berries aroma helps to nourish and repair lips on a daily basis.

The original recipe combines softening marshmallow with nourishing shea butter and protective apricot oil, its formula with a floral rose and berries aroma works to provide lasting moisture and protection for lips!

Botanical Recipe of the Cloister Fresh Moisturizing Body Gel Cream

Le Couvent des Minimes Botanical Recipe of the Cloister Fresh Moisturizing Body Gel Cream ($18 USD)–  Shea butter works with rose oil to help your skin retain its natural moisture while other essential oils exfoliate. This smooths and hydrates my skin amazingly and the scent is fresh and romantic!  I love this on my dry skin when it gets colder.

Invigorating Body Splash, Verbena and Lemon

Le Couvent des Minimes Invigorating Body Splash, Verbena and Lemon ($44 USD) –This is a very fresh, lemony scent and is light enough to spray all over. It combines the invigorating properties of Lemon and Verbena with the firming qualities of prele to revitalize and tone the body.  This is nice after a bath or shower.

Botanical Cologne of the Morning Orange and Basil

Le Couvent des Minimes Botanical Cologne of the Morning Orange and Basil ($38 USD) — The fragrance opens with crisp notes of apple that mingle with the freshness of orange and lemon. The heart reveals a delicate pear flower, magnified by fig flower and fresh basil. The base notes of woods, cedar and soft musk give a feeling of serenity.

I think this is a fresh scent for autumn with the fruit and wood accords. It is perfect for those who don’t usually wear extreme floral scents!

Le Couvent des Minimes is currently available at Amazon.com and DermStore.com

My Beauty Favorites — Week of September 25 – October 1, 2017

Happy Sunday!  I hope your Fall is going well!  It’s still a bit warm in Kansas City, but hopefully it will cool down soon!

This week I’ve been loving a shimmery cream eye shadow, under eye primer (different) and a gorgeous tanning mousse to keep my summer glow going:

Ellis Faas Ellis Lights for Eyes

Ellis Faas Ellis Lights for Eyes ($42 USD) –The lustrous metallic of Ellis Lights delivers lavish results in new metalised shades that bring a radiant spin to your eyes.  The luxurious liquid formula dries beautifully, coating lids in a shimmery smooth, crease-free finish. The new shades are:

E306 in Beige: Beige goes bold, with high-intensity, statement-making lustre. Glide on solo for a gorgeously subtle, reflective shimmer, or layer atop your favourite shadow for a luminous highlight.
E307 in Chocolate Brown: Delicious, rich chocolate brown radiates immediate warmth and sexiness. Fierce and smooth, it glistens with multi-dimensional sheen.
E308 in Dark Metal: This superior gunmetal brings the smoky eye into a whole new light. The bold graphite hue is hit with black undertones, ideal for instant drama.

What I think:  These creamy shadows are very easy to use.  I apply with the brush applicator, then blend with my finger.  They dry fairly quickly and are so pretty on.  They are shimmery, but not too glittery.  The shades are beautiful for Fall and the packaging – that silver bullet – is cool and elegant!

Purchase at http://www.ellisfaas.com

Korres Greek Yoghurt Under Eye Priming Moisturiser

Korres Greek Yoghurt Under Eye Priming Moisturiser ($36 USD) — This advanced nourishing eye cream is formulated with Yoghurt, a centuries-old Greek skin soothing solution, and myrtle and rhodiola rosea extracts to reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and puffiness. The cooling treatment perfectly primes the delicate eye area for flawless concealer application and is ideal for sensitive eyes prone to allergies. The ceramic cooling tip gently massages eyes with each application, giving eyes a refreshed and rested look.

What I think: This is a neat product!  It primes under the eye for fresh-looking and long-lasting concealer.  It does cool my skin and make it very smooth. Concealer applies very smoothly afterwards.

MineTan Caramel Self Tan Foam

MineTan Caramel Self Tan Foam (34.95 USD) — Not too light and not too dark, Caramel is perfect for those looking for a classic, sun kissed, golden skin finish in as little as one hour. This easy to apply, streak free and self adjusting formula ensures a streak free, natural looking finish every time. Quadruple dark bronzers work with tan extending multi-vitamins and oils to deliver a picture perfect tan in an instant that continues to develop into a natural golden skin finish without the fake tan smell.

What I think:  I don’t wear as much self tanner going into the cooler months, but I do like a bit to give my pale skin a glow.  This shade of MineTan is perfect because it is not too dark, plus it’s customizable.  I can leave it on for 1-3 hours, I just need to rinse it off after the time I want.  It does continue to develop, but gets to the color that I like.  It’s a beautiful tan shade and isn’t orange! MineTan also comes in darker shades like their Coconut and Violet tanners.

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Haul!

Hi all!  I wanted to share a few things I picked up during Ulta’s recent 21 Days of Beauty.  I didn’t go crazy, which is good.  I picked up a couple of things I needed and a couple of impulse buys as well!

I actually shopped in the last couple of days of the sale.  I had been tempted buy other items, but I waited for the one main item I wanted to get, Laura Geller’s Balance-n-Brighten Baked Color Correcting Foundation!

I bought this last year in Fair and loved it!  I used it up in a few months and hadn’t purchased it since.  I have been using other liquid and powder foundations, but this one has been on my mind.

It is so silky and glides across the skin.  And I love that it doesn’t settle into my pores.  The regular price is $32, but it was on sale for $16.50.  Amazing!  That’s all I was going to get that day, but then I saw this:

So pretty!  I love Laura Geller’s packaging!

Laura Geller’s Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Palette!  This is normally $32 and was on sale for $19.50.  (I love it so much when prestige makeup brands go on sale!)

I’ve been wanting to try these for a while and they are so pretty.  I think my favorite is Gilded Honey, it will be perfect for Fall, but Ballerina surprised me.  It’s really pretty on.  I usually wear more ivory highlighters, so these are a nice change! (swatches below)

I ended up also visiting Ulta on the last day of the sale for this mascara!

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara.  This is $24 and was on sale for $12.  This was on sale earlier in the 21 Days, but they added it for the last day.

I’ve been wanting to try this for a while and it did not disappoint.  The brush grabs all my lashes and curls and extends them.  It also adds so much volume! I think I may have found one to rival my current faves — IT Cosmetics Superhero and L’Oreal Lash Paradise!

I had also seen in the add that this was going to be on sale — but I had the hardest time choosing a shade!

butter LONDON Glazen Eye Gloss in Oil Slick.  Normally $24, it was on sale for $12.  This was the darkest color in the bunch.  I loved that the color shifts in the light.  I have swatched it below so you can see.

The texture of this is so weird! It’s like a slimy mousse.  I apply it with my finger onto my eye lid.  It dries very quickly, so if I want a more dramatic look, I have to layer it.

This was a total impulse buy!

Benefit Cosmetics ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color With Brush.  This is also $24 and was on sale for $12.

I have dark, thick brows.  The most I usually do with them is tweeze and use clear brow gel. But as I get older, my brows are becoming sparser, so a little color probably should be used.  I got shade 4, which is medium to dark brown with a neutral undertone.  If I use black brow products, it’s way to dark on my fair skin, so this is very nice.  It looks natural on and it easy to use with the brush.

Here are my swatches:

The top row is the Laura Geller Swirled palette in Ballerina, Gilded Honey and Peach Glow.  The bottom row is the eyebrow and the Glazen shadow.  The first is two layers and the second is one sheer layer.

Did you shop Ulta’s 21 days of Beauty?  What did you get?

My Beauty Favorites — Week of September 18-24, 2017

Now that it’s officially Fall, I am so excited for the change in season!  I want to wear my boots and sweaters, and drink lots of tea and eat apple and pumpkin treats!

But, since it’s about 90 degrees F in Kansas City today, I’ll have to settle for Fall beauty products like the gorgeous Sally Hansen polishes below.  I’m also loving some great hair products:

Inspired by rich and vibrant colors, the new Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Fall Collection adds the dose of color and vivacity the stylish woman dreams of. Middle eastern fabrics and vivid Moroccan prints are trending both on and off the catwalk. Sally Hansen has infused their 6 hot limited edition shades with all the exotic street style flair you need this fall for you to feel completely bold. The vibrant, limited-edition line-up features the following beautiful shades:
Marrakeshed From A Rose: Play up your femininity when you don this soft pale blush
Tell My Fuchsia: A deep magenta jewel tone to accentuate your bling
Moroccan Roll: The rich cherry red brings the pizazz
Tagine Supreme: Spice up the everyday with a burnt orange-tinted red
Lan-turn Up: Be the ultimate sidewalk siren with this molten metallic chrome
Magic Carpet: Get ready for an adventure in a ceramic-inspired light blue cream
The all-in-one formula with keratin boasts 7 benefits in one bottle — base coat, strength, growth treatment, salon color, topcoat, chip resistance, and gel shine finish. Complete Salon Manicure delivers up to 64% stronger nails and up to 10 days of chip-resistant wear.
What I think:  This collection is really pretty.  The three shades in the photo above are the colors that are most like Fall to me.  Gorgeous reds, oranges and golds.  There are also some pink and blue shades for the Morrocan feel.  If you haven’t tried Sally Hansen Salon Manicure, they last so long on the nails and look fresh for days.

Colourpop Haul — Featuring the Yes, Please! Palette!!!

I did some Colourpop shopping a few weeks ago.  I’ve been wanting to try their pressed shadows and since I got an email saying that the Yes, Please! palette was back in stock, I went for it!

Here’s a better look at everything I purchased:

Besides Yes, Please!, I got a buy 2 get one free liquid lip colour sale. I bought one satin lip, one regular glossy, and one metallic glossy.  I also purchased a Supershock shadow to bring my total up to $30 for free shipping.

And, lucky for me, Colourpop was also having a grab bag giveaway for their 5 million Instagram followers.  I got to choose 2 out of 5 free products that were made just for the event!

Right now (Sept 22nd), Yes, Please! is restocked — so go purchase it if you’d like! It’s $16 USD.

I was really surprised how small the palette is. It can fit in my hand!  But that’s fine, it still gives lots of color choices and it is enough product for me.

The colors are:

Full-Zip: matte warm ivory
Big Cocktails: matte orange
Champs: matte pale peachy nude
Bling: metallic rust
Louie: metallic duochrome red with a gold flip
Butter Cake: metallic pale yellow gold
Spoiled: matte brick red
Gno: matte burnt orange
Mischief: matte warm yellow
Note to Self: matte warm caramel
Chauffeur: metallic duochrome bright orange with a gold flip
French Kiss: matte deep red brown

The colors swatched so easily!  The mattes are very buttery.  Which is great, because chalky mattes really bug me.  As someone who’s older, a chalky eye is not great, it emphasizes wrinkles.

Since this was the first time I tried Colourpop’s pressed shadows, I didn’t know what to expect.  I am really happy with the pigmentation and formula.  They are really pretty on, too!

The Lip Colors I got are Aquarius Ultra Glossy, a soft pinky nude in a crème finish, My Jam Ultra Glossy, a golden nude metallic and 951 Ultra Satin, a mid-tone warm nude.  Ultra Satin is my favorite Coulourpop finish, but I hadn’t tried Ultra Glossies yet, so I thought I would pick a couple up!

I purchased the Super Shock Shadow in Reversible, a satin goldy beige.  Next to it is Party of Five Super Shock Shadow, a pale rose gold with pink shimmer and Super Shock Highlighter in High Five, a mauve with a golden shift. Those I received free in Colourpop’s 5 million instagram followers giveaway.  There were 5 items to choose from.  I qualified to receive two.  The rest were lip colors, but I wanted to try something different (I have lots of Colourpop lips)!

Here are the swatches of the lips, blush and eyes.  Left to right is 951, My Jam, Aquarius, High Five, Party of Five and Reversible.

951 is perfect for Fall.  It’s a bit dark for me, but I think it will be great for going out.  My Jam is so pretty on!  It’s subtle for a metallic and the color is very autumnal.  I think it will look amazing over 951!

High Five is so pretty, but I almost think of it as a blush, more than a highlighter. I usually wear more neutral highlighters, but it is very pretty and sparkly.  Both Party of Five and Reversible will look great this Fall.  I’m going to try to get my 17 year old to wear Party of Five to her boyfriend’s homecoming tomorrow.  It would match her dress really well, but she isn’t that into makeup (I know!)

I think I got quite a haul for a little over $30!  I usually love to shop Colourpop when they have great deals and free gifts.  They are so affordable anyway, this is even better.

Do you like Colourpop?  What have you purchased from them lately?
