Condition Your Hair with New Products From Pureology HydrateSystem

In my opinion, Pureology Serious Colour Care is one of the best lines of color hair care around. The Hydrate Collection is perfect for thirsty hair. But it is very conditioning, which could weigh fine hair down.

Enter two new additions to the Hydrate System: Hydrate LightCondition ($27.00 USD) and Hydrate HydraWhip ($45.00 USD). The new creamy conditioner and soft soufflé provide lightweight moisture for finer hair types and people who are sensitive to menthol.

The claim is:

“Many moisturizing products tend to be heavy on fine hair, making it limp and appear thinner and greasy. To address this need, Hydrate LightCondition and Hydrate HydraWhip provide moisture that will not weigh down hair, but provides nourishment to soften and protect using organic botanicals of peppermint, rosemary, sage, and green tea to provide condition and shine for light, naturally radiant and healthy hair.  The exclusive AntiFadeComplex® neutralizes free radicals to maximize colour retention.

The new Hydrate LightCondition contains Hydrating Micro-Emulsion Technology formulas to deliver moisture from within, improving hair condition.  Natural jojoba and shea butters, with strengthening multi-weight proteins of soy, oat and wheat moisturize and restore suppleness without weighing down fine hair.  Hydrate HydraWhip contains an emollient-rich soufflé with avocado, jojoba and shea butters to restore moisture and softness to fine colour-treated hair from root to tip.”

What I think: Both products are creamy, but light. I liked both of them, but the HydraWhip is perfect for my dry hair. It is a nice treatment to use a couple of times a week, while the LightCondition is perfect for every day. Both left my hair soft and not at all weighed down.

The complete Hydrate system includes the following products:
–          NEW Hydrate LightCondition
–          NEW Hydrate HydraWhip
–          HydrateShampoo®
–          HydrateCondition®
–          Hydrate HydraCure®
–          Hydrate ShineMax®

Purity Design Pure Shampoo and Conditioner

Looking for a great summer shampoo? One I have been using and liking is the Purity Design Pure Shampoo & Conditioner from IT&LY Hairfashion, a company that originated in Milan, Italy.

The Pure Shampoo and Conditioner have a couple of great things going for them. They are enriched with the innovative “Desert Blend” containing Agave, Joshua Tree and Challa Cactus.  Pure Shampoo is perfect for normal and claims to deeply cleanse, moisturize, and help keep hair frizz free. Pure Conditioner claims to nourish and restore the hair. Plus both products contain UV ray protection, which makes them perfect for summer use.

Pure Shampoo Suggested Retail: $11                            Size:  10.14 oz
Pure Conditioner Suggested Retail: $13                         Size:  10.14 oz

What I think: I love the gentle scents of the shampoo and conditioner; they smell really good! The shampoo foams well and really cleans my hair. The conditioner is nice, but I have very dry hair so after cleaning it so well, I need something richer. Still — excellent hair care for every day!

Protect Your Scalp with Redken Color Extend Sun Care

Redken Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12

I think that it is so smart that haircare companies are introducing SPF to their summer collections. It seems to be the next logical step in sun protection. We protect our skin everyday with sunscreen, why not our hair?!

Redken Introduced their Color Extend line in 2009 (see my review at https://fortyflirtyfabulous.wordpress.com/2009/05/17/redken-color-extend-sun-collection/). This year, they have added the new Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12 to the Color Extend Sun haircare regimen. This is a leave-in product that helps prevent burnt scalps while protecting hair.

The Claim: The UVA and UVB filters in Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12 provide protection plus filters coat the hair to protect the integrity of the hair fiber and safeguard haircolor and highlights.  Redken’s exclusive Interbond Conditioning System and the advanced Hydra-Shield Complex deliver strengthening Ceramide and moisture-rich Mango Oil to dry strands to resurface the cuticle, repair damaged areas and replenish lost moisture.

This product is particularly recommended for stylists and consumers with side/middle/fringe parts, thinning hair, receding hairlines, or light-colored hair, and are looking for a multi-tasking product to protect their hair and scalp from UV damage while helping to protect and replenish the hair,” states Rodney Cutler, Redken Brand Ambassador and owner of Cutler/Redken Salon.  “It is highly recommended to use the protective treatment at the beach or by the pool and for people who work outdoors and/or who play outdoor sports.”

What I think: I like the ease of this product — just spray on wet hair and you’re done. My scalp hasn’t burned yet this year, which is great, and I love that the spray is protection my color, which hasn’t faded. So I recommend this spray to protect the scalp and hair!

Other products in Redken’s Color Extend Sun line include:
•                    Color Extend Sun After-Sun Shampoo:  Apply to wet hair, massage into a lather, and rinse.
•                    Color Extend Sun After-Sun Mask:  After shampooing, apply to damp hair. Leave on 5 to 15 minutes. Rinse.
•                    Color Extend Sparkling Shield:  Apply to damp or dry hair.  Leave-in.  Reapply throughout the day as needed.

Depth Natural Hair Care Products

Depth Hair Products

Looking for natural hair care? There are lots of different high-end formulas out there, but an affordable choice is Depth Hair Care ($9.99 USD each for shampoo and conditioner).

This all natural hair care (they also make all natural body care) contains organic and hydrating sea minerals. They also utilize three different types of algae – red, brown and green – that enhance the hair’s ability to look healthy and dynamic. The combinations of all three botanicals delivers nourishing ingredients to the scalp to ensure ultimate hydration.

Depth Hair Care includes:
·         Refresh Daily Shampoo – For all hair types. Keeps hair soft, healthy and nourished with a nutrient-rich blend of vitamins and sea botanicals
·         Drench Hydrating Shampoo – For dry and damaged hair: Gentle cleansers work to nourish and restore essential moisture; ideal for color treated hair
·         Immerse Daily Conditioner – For all hair types. Nutrient-rich to maintain healthy, beautiful hair without weighing it down

What I thought: I have been using the Drench Hydrating Shampoo and the Immerse Daily Conditioner for a couple of weeks. The shampoo is thick and lathers very richly. The conditioner is nice, but not quite thick enough for my dry hair. They both smell fantastic and leave hair clean and soft. I think they are a good buy for being organic and natural.

Burt’s Bees Giveaway!

Want some free stuff? I am giving away this trio of excellent Burt’s Bees Products (descriptions are from Burt’s Bees Website):

Beeswax Lip Balm ($3.00 USD) — Give your lips the soothing feeling they deserve. This natural lip balm is loaded with coconut and sunflower oils, rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, to nourish, condition and soften lips. Beeswax seals in hydration. We’ve even added peppermint oil for a refreshing tingle. Take your pick of an old-fashioned yellow tin or a recycled plastic tube. No wonder it is our most popular product.

Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo ($8.00 USD 12 oz) — Grapefruit extract joins forces with highly effective yet gentle cleansers made from coconut and sunflower oils to create a shampoo formula with a rich lather. Meanwhile, sugar beet extract and soy protein penetrate hair follicles to repair and strengthen hair, helping to shield against future damage. The final touch: honey and essential natural oils from orange, lemon, lime and tangerine go to work for a beautifully natural shine.

Very Volumizing Pomegranate & Soy Conditioner ($8.00 USD 12 oz) — Transform fine, flat, lifeless hair into thick and voluminous hair with extra body. Pomegranate and moringa seed extracts revitalize hair by replenishing moisture while sugar esters and honey, a natural humectant, condition hair. White Sands Velcro Strips and Texture Spray

Looking for an easy way to curl your straight hair? Try the easy combination of White Sands Liquid Texture Spray ($19.00 USD) and White Sands Velcro Strips ($40.00 for 6 large strips and 3 straight sticks)  for a quick and curly set!

I have tried 3 different looks with the large strips. they are:

Volume at the crown — I spray the Liquid Texture at the roots, roll up a velcro strip into a curler, then place the hair at the roots over it. I either let it air dry or use a dryer. When it’s dry, I gently take the hair off of the rollers and my hair is lifted at the roots.

Soft Curls– I spray the hair, place the velcro side of the strips down the length of a piece of hair and roll up, securing with a bobby pin. Once dry I unroll the hair and I have soft, curly hair.

Waves — This is the coolest set, but takes the longest to achieve. You spray both side of the hair with the spray and lay it on the velcro side of a strip. Next, place a second strip, velcro side up, on top of the hair. You then take one of the straight pins and weave it through the holes in the strips, creating a wave. Once it dries, gently take out the pin and take of the velcro. The result is some cool waves in your hair!

This spray is perfect for sets. The website puts it best, “because Liquid Texture Firm Hold is the “ultimate design tool” because it allows you to create and recreate any hair design imaginable. Liquid Texture has raised the bar for hair spray because it can be combed through and has incredible memory to provide long-lasting designs without regard to humidity. It is thermal intelligent, so the more heat used, the shinier the hair becomes. Liquid Texture leaves hair soft and silky without flaking or leaving residue on hot tools.” This is a great spray that leaves hair a shiny and gives great hold!
