H2O+ Oasis Lip Gel in Cloud Wine ($12 USD) –A Lip Gel that features an innovative gel texture and a minty fresh flavor. Smooth, hydrate, and finish with a plum watercolor tint that packs a punch of shine, right in the kisser. Also comes in 4 other colors. This color leaves a dark plum stain on my lips and feels so hydrating.

H2O+ Lemongrass Vetiver On The Move Body Butter Stick ($15 USD) –Hydration and nourishment in a solid stick format with a sparkling lemongrass scent. Deeply moisturizes and nourishes skin, featuring Coconut Seed Butter and Coconut Oil. Sunflower Seed and Lemon Peel oil to help soften and condition. Travel/TSA friendly. Formulated without Parabens, Mineral Oils, and Pthalates. This is such an original moisturizer. I apply on dry areas of my body like elbows and knees and rub in to hydrate. Very different!

H2O + Aquadefense Protective Matcha Moisturizer SPF 40 ($44 USD) –An ultra-light, non greasy fluid for broad spectrum protection from sun exposure. SPF 40 blocks 97.5% of UVB rays while broad spectrum coverage also protects against UVA rays which can accelerate skin aging. The Ageless collection products are creamy and hydrating, but don’t leave my skin greasy. They are also fragrance free, and very gentle on my sensitive skin. The Day cream is lighter than the night cream, and I love that it has SPF in it. The eye cream sinks right into my skin and smooths the skin on my eye area.

I have noticed that my skin is smoother and has better texture. My fine lines do look less noticeable, too.

My skin is combination as well sensitive and aging (fun). So the Balance collection works for my skin when it is a bit oily. It’s more of a gel texture and lighter than the Ageless collection, and will be perfect for me when it gets warmer. But for those who are oily all of the time, I think it would be a great everyday collection.

This has a light fragrance, but it doesn’t irritate my skin at all and it does give a nice matte finish!

I think for what these products do for the skin, the price is amazing! Natural and potent skin care usually comes at a much higher price point.

What I think: I have been using this spray after cleanser and before serums. It feels so refreshing on, and really softens my skin. It is an easy extra step in my skincare to keep my skin youthful.

What I think: I love the scent of this cleanser! It is softly floral. I apply it to a cotton pad and it removes all of my makeup. Plus, it leaves my skin clean and smooth.

What I think: This is a really fun product, I am a fan of oxygen treatments! I smooth this on and it instantly bubbles. I then rinse it off and my skin is so smooth and soft! The instructions say that you can just wipe it off, but it leaves a soapy residue, so I wash it off.

What I think: I have been using this serum on my chin, jawline and neck. I really think it helps firm, as I have seen a change in my jawline! Love it and will keep using it!

I am really loving this brand! I think it’s really affordable for the quality ingredients in these products. I am looking forward in trying more from this brand.

One of my favorites is the body lotion. The ingredients include raw coconut, acai, dragon fruit, lavender and African cucumber. It’s so hydrating, but sinks right into my skin without feeling greasy. The bath bomb is fun to use before applying the lotion.

The shampoo and conditioner are sulfate free along with organic and natural. That’s important for me, because I color my hair. They also leave hair soft and silky, and smell amazing, too!

Get Your Skin Ready For Summer!

I love today’s skincare! Innovative new products are always one-upping the last one and I have to admit, the winner is my skin! I am getting in the upper 40’s and my skin is still smooth and fairly firm, and I don’t have wrinkles (yet).

Below are my current favorite skin care going into summer. They include a nourishing essence, restoring eye gel patches, an SPF moisturizer that brightens my skin and a deep, skin-plumping moisturizer.

Lancôme Énergie de Vie Pearly Lotion ($56 6.7 fl. oz, USD) — Pearly Lotion represents the refreshing step that revives skin in the morning. This surprising lotion is composed of a myriad of translucent and evanescent pearls of multiple sizes. On the skin, the nourishing feel of an oil is paired with the intense freshness of a water, for a splash of energy. Énergie de Vie captures a combination of two plant extracts – Lemon Balm and Goji Berry.

What I think: I have been using this in the morning after cleansing. It smells and feels so refreshing on! It instantly sinks into my skin and moisturizes. Some days, I use it instead of my morning serum. This is especially nice in the summer when it is hot and I want to use less products.

What I think: This is a fabulous night cream. It is so creamy, but not greasy at all, it sinks right into my skin. I apply it after my serum at night and my skin is glowing in the morning! My skin texture is also better with use, it is smoother.

I try a lot of new skincare each year, and LOVE it! There are so many amazing brands and products available that can change the texture of skin and help with fine lines and wrinkles.

What I think: Votre Vu is a French skincare company that I haven’t tried before. Both of these creams are rich and soothing. The Tragic Magic (great name!) cream is very rich, but not greasy at all. It is nice to use at night when my sensitive skin is irritated. The Attentive Crème is lighter and so nice to use every night. I wake up in the morning and my skin hydrated, clear and ready for the day!

Talika’s Bio Enzymes Mask ($13.75) includes Chamomile and Arnica, helping to soothe and heal the skin. It has a three dimensional structure to retain a very high concentration of active ingredients which are spread evenly over the skin.

It acts like a “second skin”. With alpine herbs, sodium hyaluronate and hydrophilic sugars, it restores dry, sensitive skins. After use, the skin is perfectly mosturized*, softened, soothed and infinitely more beautiful.

What I think: This is an interesting mask. It is almost like a gel sheet. When I placed it on my skin, it molded to my face. I left it on for about 15 minutes. After I removed it, I rubbed in the excess serum. Then I let my skin dry and afterwards it was very soft. It even hydrated rough spots on my forehead. This is fabulous for dry and dull skin.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of February 29-March 6, 2016

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week. It was warm in Kansas City today and I loved it!

This week I am loving effective skincare. Now that I’m out of the cold air, I feel my skin is looking and feeling better. And, the products below are definitely helping!

What I think: This is such a fluffy cream! I apply it over my serum at night and it sinks right into my skin. Many night treatments are so heavy, but this one is light, but does really moisturize. In the morning, my skin is so soft. I am going to continue to use and hope to see lightening of dark spots.

Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare Recapture Day + IR Defense Anti-Aging Cream SPF 30 ($69 USD) — is formulated with a bio-copper complex that helps correct the most visible signs of aging. It uses three effective technologies to revive, improve and protect your skin while recapturing a youthful appearance.

What I think: I always either use a moisturizer with SPF daily or a sunscreen. I love this product because it is a multi-tasker. It also really hydrates my skin without being heavy. I have tried this before and I’ve noticed that my skin tone is smoother and firmer with continuous use.

What I think: Is your skin parched? Use this trio, then go to sleep. You will wake up with very soft skin! I LOVE the melting cleanser. I like to apply it dry to my skin, rub it in, then remove it (and my makeup) with a damp cloth. My skin is clean and so soft! I love a moisturizing mask because they can calm my redness, this one is no exception. I applied it, left it on for 10 minutes, and my skin was smooth.

The moisturizer is a drink of water for dry skin. It instantly softens and hydrates. I love that it works overnight to deliver moisture by morning. There are other products in the collection, so check them out!

What my husband thinks: My husband loved these products. They smell fresh and masculine. He doesn’t use a lot of skincare, but he really liked the scrub. It got rid of the dry skin and made his face soft. The soap he used in the shower and liked how clean it left his skin.

He also liked the shaving cream. He is used to shaving cream that foams, but he said that this worked just as well and that he got a smooth shave.

Product Review — jane iredale’s BeautyPrep Collection

jane iredale’s March 2016 launches: BeautyPrep™ Face Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer. This trio of high-performance skin care is the first specifically designed to optimize the wear and longevity of mineral makeup. Each prepares, protects and pumps skin full of hydration so makeup goes on smoother and lasts longer. Like all jane iredale products, this trio uses only pure, clean ingredients that improve the health of the skin. The cleanser and toner are both awarded ECOCERT Natural Cosmetics certification.

I was sent this collection and have been using it in the morning for a couple of weeks. Here are the products:

BeautyPrep™ Face Cleanser, $28: This no-rinse cleansing water provides a deep pore cleanse with nourishing Oat Amino Acids. Ideal for removing makeup and cleansing skin prior to toning and moisturizing, it contains a proprietary micellar water with dual Cucumber Extracts in liposome form that gently hydrate, smooth and protect the skin. Removes environmental pollutants and is antioxidant and vitamin rich to help reduce free radical damage. May be used with or without water, leaving no oily residue on the skin.*Awarded ECOCERT Natural Cosmetics certification.

BeautyPrep™ Face Toner, $33: This gentle toner refines pores and moisturizes with organic botanical liposomes. Prepares skin for layering moisturizer and makeup and is infused with Herbasome, a fruit extract infused water, to provide deep skin hydration. Contains organic Lemon Grass, Apple, Pear, Carrot and Coconut Water to balance pH and restore the surface of the skin. *Awarded ECOCERT Natural Cosmetics certification.

BeautyPrep™ Face Moisturizer, $45: This soothing cream moisturizes skin and helps prevent transepidermal water loss while protecting the skin from airborne pollutants. Prepares the skin’s surface so makeup goes on smoother and lasts longer. Contains four organic Rose Stem Cell Extracts:

White Rose supports natural cell regeneration and the skin barrier, while restoring suppleness.
Damask Rose helps to tighten pores, purify and smooth the skin.
Rosa Canina (Rosehips) calms and brightens skin and helps prevent transepidermal water loss.
Pale Rose helps to rebuild the moisture barrier and provide suppleness for the appearance of newer, softer skin.

What I think: I love all three of these products. They are very easy to use (no water needed!), and leave my skin very soft. I like to use the cleanser day and night. Micellar waters have become my daily go-to, because you pour on a pad then wipe the face. They are easy, work well and provide skincare benefits.

I also follow it up with the toner to keep my skin clean and clear. It also leaves it moisturized and not dry.

The moisturizer is amazing! It is light enough to use in the day time under makeup, but really keeps my skin soft and firm. It also doubles as a night cream if you need a light moisturizer.

I use all types of makeup, but especially cream makeup. I make sure to include an SPF if my makeup doesn’t have sunscreen. The scent of the toner and moisturizer are VERY lemony. The cleanser has a softer citrus scent. The lemon products are a little strong, but the benefits of the system outweigh the scent.

What I think: First of all I love the soft, warms scent of these products. The serum absorbs quickly into my skin and instantly my skin seems smoother. The eye cream also instantly hydrates my skin. I love applying it all around my eye area, morning and night. Actually I use serums and eye creams both morning and night (and I am still wrinkle free)!

The night cream is probably my favorite product of the three. It also sinks right into the skin and leaves it so soft! I also use it on my neck (which could use some lifting and firming, too)! It has a wonderful texture, I am so happy that it is not a thick night cream. Some night creams are so heavy on, but not this one! I love using it every night!

I have been using these products for about a month, and my skin does seem a bit firmer. I will continue using it to see if there is even more improvement over time.
