BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — November 2018

IMG_2482

Hi all! I received my November BoxyCharm! I see the spoilers each month, so I basically knew what I was getting. I’ve been subscribed to BoxyCharm for over a year.

Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 5-6 beauty items, most of them full-sized.  It is a nice  way to try new makeup and beauty tools.

This month I received:

IMG_2480.JPG

I went out of town this weekend and came back a couple of days ago, and for some reason I didn’t do individual shots of the products like I usually do before I left.  But, here is the eyeshadow palette and the Cover FX drops:

IMG-2563

This palette is so pretty!  I love the mix of mattes and shimmers.  This will make a really bold eye.  I haven’t tried it because I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it.  I just got the Bobbi Brown Infra-red palette, and the shades are similar.  I think this will make a nice gift for someone.

IMG-2562

This is a new shade of the Cover FX Glitter Drops.  It is a limited edition coppery-gold shade, exclusive for the holiday season. Ultra-concentrated drops of golden glitter that impart a high impact, light- reflective finish. It’s cool that they included a new shade of a popular product.  I won’t use this, so I’ll probably give it away.

For the other three products, I have already used and love the brushes. The are small detail brushes, and I have been needing some.  Luxie brushes are always such great quality. I won’t use the lashes or the eyeliner, so I will be giving them away.

So this wasn’t the best month for items I’ll use, but I did get a bunch of gifts from it, so it is a win! I have so much makeup that I really don’t need to be getting this, but it is just so much fun!  And for $21, it’s such a great deal!

And next month I should be getting BoxyLuxe.  I’m so excited, it looks like an amazing box!

Do you get BoxyCharm?  What did you get this month?

Get Gorgeous With Natural Brands OZNaturals, Derma E and The Organic Skin Co!

Hi all! How’s your November going so far?  Can you believe the holidays are almost here?  I’ll be dong my gift guides really soon (like maybe my next post)!

To get ready for the cooler weather, I’ve been trying some amazing natural skincare.  The following was sent to me for my honest review.

OZNaturals Vitamin C + Sea Hydration Mask
OZNaturals Vitamin C + Sea Hydration Mask

OZNaturals Vitamin C + Sea Hydration Mask ($19.99)  Packed with Vitamin C, Giant Sea Kelp Extract, and ocean minerals, this deeply hydrating formula reduces redness, fine lines, and flaky skin, delivering radiant, youthful skin and a dewy, healthy glow.  Formulated using a unique technique called Cold Processing, OZNaturals products are made without the use of heat or petrochemicals at room temperature, which allows the active ingredients to remain fresh and highly potent as intended.  Full of antioxidants and fatty acids, this effective, yet natural formula soothes even the most distressed skin and will reduce puffiness and inflammation.

This mask works well for my sensitive skin.  It gently exfoliates but doesn’t irritate my skin. You can use this after cleansing and exfoliating, apply generously and leave on skin for 15-30 minutes. Moisten and gently rinse to remove. Pat skin dry. Follow with serums, and lastly moisturizer. This is so nice, and I love that it’s all natural!

Derma E Firming DMAE Eye Lift ($24.95 USD) Visibly lift, firm and tighten the delicate eye area while smoothing crow’s feet with this doctor-developed, multi-action eye treatment cream that contains advanced natural ingredients. InstaLift® Goji Berry glycopeptides add further firming, lifting and tightening antioxidant power. Advanced peptides Argireline® and Matrixyl® synthe’6® work together to soften facial muscles and synthesize new key components helping smooth wrinkles and discourage new lines from forming. Hyaluronic Acid, also known as nature’s moisture magnet, infuses a surge of cooling eye moisture helping leave skin soft, smooth, tone and rehydrated. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free, GMO-free.

Derma E Advanced Peptide and Collagen Moisturizer ($35 USD) – This revolutionary, double-action moisturizer formulated with multi-peptides, Matrixyl® synthe’6® and Argireline ®, helps to visibly soften and smooth the look of even the deepest wrinkles while plant extract Pycnogenol®, a powerful antioxidant, may help support healthy collagen. Powerful anti-aging peptides with benefits: • Matrixyl® synthe’6®: May help support collagen for healthy-looking tone and texture. • Argireline®: Helps to visibly smooth the appearance of fine lines, leaving skin feeling soft. Enriched with anti-aging antioxidants Vitamin C and Green Tea, this intense hydrating, peptide-infused formula helps to restore the look of your skin for a more youthful-looking appearance. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.

I was so excited to receive these is my October Derma E PR box!  I love trying new anti-aging skincare and these two are amazing!  The Eye Lift really smooths out my eye area and it looks so fresh and my eyes look very awake! The moisturizer is very hydrating, but not heavy, which I like.  I have only been using these products for a few days, but I will continue use to see what wonderful result’s I’ll get!

The Organic Skin Co.  Lip Service Lipstick ($34.50 each) — These gorgeous lipsticks contain carnauba wax and nourishing organic oils, and along with supercritical extracts of calendula and rosemary, helps to moisturize the lips and protect them against harsh environmental elements. 12 long lasting shades to choose from, available in matte, shimmer and sheer. Free of parabens, nanos, bismuth oxychloride, gluten, talc and all the other nasty stuff you find in too many lipsticks (and which you can’t help but swallow!). Cruelty free.

First of all, the packaging on these are stunning and recyclable.  The lipsticks feel like balms, they are so hydrating, but they aren’t too soft.  I love the shade on the left Summer Sand for everyday looks and Flame for a more dramatic fall lip. And I love that they are good for me!

Do you use natural beauty products?  Any suggestions?  I would love to try more!

Project Pan October-December 2018: First Update

IMG_2456

Hi all!  I’m back with my first  update on my last Project Pan of 2018.  You can see my first post here.

I’m attempting to use up 5 skincare and 5 makeup items.  And it’s going pretty well.  I haven’t used up anything yet, but I am getting close!

IMG_2458

I just have a little bit left of my Pixi products.  I should use them up in a couple of weeks.  Same with the Talika Eye Dream.  This is almost gone. The Derma E cleanser is still going strong.  I’ve been using this for a while and it is really lasting!  The Yes to Cotton mask is the only thing that’s taking me a while to use.  I keep forgetting about it!  But I did use it 4 times last month.  I want to try applying it twice a week from now on.  We’ll see how it goes!

I do really like all of these products.  They all help my skin look smoother and clearer.  I’ll let you know if ‘m going to repurchase when I use them up.

IMG_2457.JPG

My makeup pan is going okay.  I think the Flower Beauty concealer is almost used up. It’s taking a few dips in to get enough concealer to apply. I’ve been concentrating on the concealer, but have used the Colourpop one a few times.

I’ve been wearing one or a combo of the lip glosses every day in October.  I don’t know if you can see from the photo, but it looks like the lightest one is separating on the bottom. I might have to stop using that one.  If I don’t use them all up by the end of the year, I’m going to toss them.  They are over a year old and it’s either use them up or throw them away!

I think I should get through most of these products.  I think the interesting thing I’ve learned so far this year is that I have way more makeup than I will use up!  I’ll talk more about that at my end of year round up.

Have you done a Project Pan this year?  What are you learning from it?

Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick Review

IMG_2245

Hi All! I hope you are having an amazing weekend!  I’m back with a foundation review.  I don’t review a lot of foundations, because I only have one face!

I was so excited to get the  Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick for my honest review.  I’ve been wanting to try this!  Here’s a close look at the shades I received:

IMG_2247

These are 110 Porcelain, 120 Classic Ivory, 130 Buff Beige, 220 Natural Beige, 312 Golden, 330 Toffee, and 360 Mocha. You can probably tell that I have been using 120.  It’s a really good match for me.

Here’s  close up of the stick and sponge:IMG_2249

IMG_2250

And here are a few swatches:

IMG_2248

The Maybelline New York Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick ($11.99 USD) allows you to perfect the ‘no-makeup’ makeup look by offering a lightweight formula to create a flawlessly natural complexion.

This foundation is easy to use, I just swipe the stick on my face and blend in with a brush or sponge.  It gives a natural look, I’d say it’s a medium coverage. I did try to blend with the sponge end, but it’s really rough and I didn’t care much for it, even when I wet it. It will work okay in a pinch, though.

I also want to say that darker and lighter shades can be used for concealer, highlighter and contour.  They are so creamy and blend out really well!

I have to say that the only con in this foundation, besides the sponge, is that there is not a lot of product. It’s only .25 oz or 7 g.  I do know that stick foundations can’t carry a lot of product in them, but if they removed the sponge there would be more room. I have used it exclusively for a couple of weeks, and there is only about half of the stick left.  I am saving it for a trip I’m going on soon because I know it will travel so well!

I can say I will probably purchase this again, but  I do hope they change up the packaging and add more product!

The Maybelline New York Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick is available now at mass market retailers in 16 shades.

Have you tried this foundation?  What’s your favorite stick foundation?

Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Products For Rich Fall Looks

IMG_2159.JPG

Hi all! I hope your October is going well! I recently received some fun Rimmel London eye products to test and review.  They are the Magnif’Eyes Palette Crimson Edition and the Magnif’Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner.  These are both great for creating fun fall looks!

IMG_2160IMG_2161

This gorgeous palette retails for under $8! It is really pigmented and the colors are very on trend! Rimmel has actually extended their popular 12 pan Magnif’Eyes Palette Collection with 4 NEW styles. They are Crimson, Electric Violet, Jewel Rocks and Wow. The full range of Magnif’Eyes Palettes has 9 different styles to craft endless looks.

IMG_2170
Here are my swatches.  They  swatch nicely and perform well on the eyes. You can make a complete pink, red or brown look with this, or mix and match the shades. I do have a lot of palettes in this shade range, but I like that this is affordable.

I also find the mattes really blendable, which is nice.  The shimmers need to be wettened by setting spray to really show up on the eyes.  You can also use your fingers.

IMG_2171.JPG

These are the Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner.  This retails for around $6.50. You can create an easy look by using the line end to line your waterline and shape your eye.  Second, shade in the shadow all over lid and smudge out using your finger. The long lasting formula claims to be waterproof, crease proof and transfer proof.

IMG_2172

The shades I have left to right is Pink and Purple Rain, Kissed by a Rose Gold and Dark Side of Blue.

I am in LOVE with the first two shades!  The shadows dry down really fast and do not budge!  The liners take a little more time to dry, but they dry down completely, too. I don’t wear a ton of eyeliner, so a lot of times I like to use the shadow to add shimmer to an eye look.  I dab it on my eye and lightly tap it in.  You can make a fast faux halo or cut crease with these, because they are so opaque.

I do recommend both of these Rimmel London products.  They are affordable and are of great quality!

Availability: Mass retailers and drugstores

Have you tried either of these products?

Ipsy Glam Bag Subsription Box Review – September 2018

Hi All!  I’m back with another subscription box review — Ipsy Glam Bag.  I subscribed to Ipsy years ago, but stopped.  I decided I wanted to try it again to try new products. They also have a larger box available starting next month, the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus.  I just got on the waiting list for that, so I’m not sure when I will receive it.

Ipsy Glam Bag is $10 a month for 5 deluxe and sometimes full-sized items.  It used to be only makeup, but it seems to now be skincare and makeup. You can sign up for it here.

If you do sign up with my link, I’ll get pushed higher up on the waiting list for the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus and that would be amazing! And then you would be eligible for the Glam Bag Plus waitlist! The Glam Bag Plus is $25 a month and looks to be 5 full-sized items.

Here are the products I received in my first bag:

IMG_2045.JPG

The bag is super cute!  It’s nice quality, too.  I was pleasantly surprised!

These are the products with the descriptions from the Ipsy website:

Elizabeth Mott Face Primer — The silky, lightweight formula also shuts down shine and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and pores (it’s like a real-life Insta-filter!).It’s waterproof, so there’s no chance of your makeup sliding off if you get caught in the rain.

APTO Healing Turmeric Mask — This lightweight mask is packed with natural, skin-healing ingredients. Turmeric and neem travel deep into your skin’s pores to draw out impurities. They also have strong antibacterial properties and help reduce redness and inflammation, making them great acne-fighters. Azelaic acid gently sloughs away dead skin cells (no scrubbing needed) to reveal the fresh skin beneath and help restore your glow. Colloidal sulfur helps removes blackheads, deeply cleanses pores, and absorbs excess oil.

The Creme Shop 2-in-1 Facial Foam Cleanser — Packed with ingredients your skin loves—like green tea, rice water and white lily—this gentle, foamy formula is actually fun to use. Green tea is super rich in antioxidants and vitamins that help firm up and rejuvenate skin. Rice water and white lily help calm redness and treat acne scars.

MPrincess Loose Eyeshadow in Pretty Petal — This loose pigment shadow builds and blends really easily, so you can go for a lowkey or amped up eye look depending on your mood. It’s *so* fun to experiment with and plays well with your other shadows. (You can create endless looks by mixing and matching.) We love the dusty rose shade, which makes all eye colors really pop.

Luxie Beauty Wonder Woman Detail Tapered Blender 140 — LUXIE BEAUTY teamed up with Warner Brothers to bring us this limited-edition, Wonder Woman-inspired makeup brush. The synthetic bristles are soft and light yet pick up just the right amount of product with ease. The pointed brush head is great for targeting small areas (like applying concealer to your undereyes and inner corners of your nose).

When I first saw what I was getting, I wasn’t very excited.  From what I remember, Ipsy was a makeup subscription.  But it seems like now they include skincare.  Which I really don’t need as I have tons of skincare (and tons of makeup to be honest).  But I am excited to try the mask, it sound sounds like it will work well with my skin.  I don’t need a cleanser, but I like K-Beauty and I will keep it for travel. I have already tried the primer and it is pore filling.  And that brush!  I love Luxie and it’s really soft.  The shadow is a shimmery pink.  I don’t know if I will keep it or give it away, but it looks pretty!

I am happy with this bag!  Do you get Ipsy Glam Bag?  What did you get this month?

Paperless Post Review — Cool Customizable Greeting Cards and Invitations

Hi All!  I recently tried Paperless Post for my honest review.  It is a company that designs customizable online stationery, to show that communication can be personal and well-designed regardless of the medium.

Paperless Post has partnered with several world-famous designers and lifestyle brands, including kate spade new york, Oscar de la Renta, Jonathan Adler, and Rifle Paper Co., and has delivered over 85 million cards to date. Which I think is really cool.  But I really didn’t know what to think until I tried it.

I thought it might be an animated card, like you see on Facebook.  But, it’s actually like a paper card, you just send it online.

So, to try it out, I created an account, which was fast and easy to do. I was given some Paperless Post coins.  To use this service, you need to purchase coins to create cards.

I made a birthday card for myself. I chose one from Rifle Paper Co. It was super cute and easy to customize.  Here is the card:

e39f0989b871c0e1459ddef65eb742cb-20-119422314

First, there is a backdrop to the card that shows when you open it (but did not show up when I tried to copy it).  I chose a gold one that matched the font color of the card, but there are many colors and prints to choose from.

Next was the greeting.  You can edit the format, typeface and color.  You can also change the message. It was quick and easy.  It only took me a couple of minutes to do this.

Next, I was able to customize an envelope:

Lorena I chose the color, stamp, postmark and the inside of the envelope.  That only took a minute or two as well.

After I was done, I entered my recipients name and email address, plus my email address and a subject line.  Then I sent it to myself.

When I received the card, it showed the envelope.  I “opened” it and the card appeared! It was so much fun to receive.

This card costed a total of 6 coins.  The basic card was 5 coins and the unicorn stamp was 1 coin. 20 coins cost $10.  Some invitations and cards start at 2 coins each, so you can get quite a few for $10.

I think this service was fast and easy to use, and really cute to receive.  It’s a lot easier than buying a card, filling it out and mailing it off!  And it’s less money.  A birthday card can cost up to $10, and the one I created was 6 coins or about $3.

I definitely recommend Paperless Post!  Check it out at www.paperlesspost.com
