Take Care Of And Have Fun With Your Hair This Summer!

Hi all! Happy Monday!  I hope you’re week has started off well.  I’m on vacation this week and my daughter is is town, so I’m doing great!

I thought I’d feature some newer to me hair care I’ve been testing out lately.  I have a fun array — shampoo and conditioner, hair masks and temporary hair color spray:

CQLR6318

Derma E Therapeutic Shampoo & Conditioner.  It is the Scalp Relief line.  ($22.50 for the set) — This doctor-developed, clinically tested formula works in four ways to gently cleanse, de-flake, soothe and nourish the scalp and hair. Using proprietary Therapeutic Psorzema® Herbal Blend plus healthful vitamins and botanicals, this shampoo calms a dandruff-prone, itchy, irritated scalp and refreshes the hair, from root to tip.

Both Shampoo and conditioner enriched with:

Therapeutic Psorzema® Herbal Blend (Neem, Burdock and Bearberry): replenishes a dry, irritated, scaling scalp, helping to promote optimum scalp and hair health.

Tea Tree and Menthol: help calm and cool itch on contact and help maintain scalp purity over time.

Salicylic Acid: penetrates to lift away excess flakes and surface buildup.

I love how these products calms my itchy scalp, but also really hydrate the hair. These products are nice for every day use, or once a week for a treatment.

John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks
John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks

John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks ($3.49 at Walmart and select Grocery Outlets) — Four targeted hair masks that transform hair in a matter of minutes. Designed to treat hair suffering from frizz, fading, damage or dullness, each mask revives hair with a single in-shower application. Simply shampoo, squeeze out excess moisture and massage the Wonder Drops throughout wet hair.

Available in: Frizz Smoothing, Blonde Brightening, Damage Repairing and Vibrancy Enhancing
These are so affordable.  My favorites are the Frizz Smoothing and Damage Repairing.  They leave my hair very smooth and shiny.

The new KMS Style Color Collection offers 9 tones of color from purple to blue to grey. The products are waterproof, pillow-friendly, and work perfectly with hot tools. Expect a flexible, ultra-thin film for a movable finish & even results on all hair colors that removes easily with shampoo, so you can rock pink highlights to a concert and have them washed out before Monday’s conference meeting. Available at KMS salons.

These are so gorgeous!  My daughters have commandeered them, but they are beautiful for people of all ages who want a fun pop of color or dimension in their hair. They stay in all day and wash out easily!

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — February 2019

IMG_2482

Hi all! I received my February BoxyCharm today! I always watch for the spoilers so I basically knew what I am getting. But, I was surprised by a couple of these that I didn’t see spoilers for.

I’ve been subscribed to BoxyCharm for about a year and a half now and really enjoy it. Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 4-5 beauty items, most of them full-sized.  It is a nice way to try new makeup and beauty tools.

This month I received:

IMG_2948

The two products I didn’t see variation spoilers for are the GrandeLIPS lipstick and the TULA masks.  Here are more info on the products I received:

img_2951.jpg

I have been wanting to try this for a while.  It is from a Korean beauty brand that I haven’t tried before (I have been loving Korean beauty lately).  My pores need to be smoothed and covered, so I am all for this! And I love trying new primers!

img_2954.jpg I do not enjoy matte liquid lipsticks.  They are so uncomfortable and settle in to my lines. But for some reason, I got this and put it right on my lips. It is a semi-matte and is a little drying.  But then it starts to tingle, plumps up and my lips looks great! It does look better with a gloss over it.  But I was pleasantly surprised!

img_2953.jpg

This shade of highlighter is Glow Up a rose gold.  It’s very pretty!  This is a very glowy formula.  I haven’t decided if the shade is too dark for me yet.  I need to wear it out in the sun and see.

Here are swatches of the lippie and highlighter:

img_2956.jpg

The lip color is almost a little light for me, but I wear gloss over it and can change the color a bit.  The highlighter is a very pretty shade.  I hope it works for me.

IMG_2950.JPG

I have tried this mascara before.  It’s pretty good (I don’t really remember if I liked it or not).  I gave my last tube to my daughter.  I think I’ll keep this one and try it out once I’m done with the mascaras I am using.

img_2958.jpg I received 2 packs of 2 masks, so 4 masks total!  That’s not bad.  These claim to hydrate and plump skin when it needs it most. The citrus extract in this mask will bring the look of luminosity and vibrance to dull, tired skin.

That sounds really nice, and I do want to try them.  But I haven’t even used my Tatcha masks from last months box! (You can see my January box here).

So, I think this is my first BoxyCharm every that I am going to use all of the products!  I will at least try them before passing them on. The product I’m most excited about is the primer.  But I will at least try everything else.  So this box is a win!

Do you get BoxyCharm?  What did you get in your box this month?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — January 2019

IMG_2482

Hi all! I received my January BoxyCharm this week! The first one of 2019 I see the spoilers each month, so I basically knew what I was getting. There were a lot of variations this month.

I’ve been subscribed to BoxyCharm for about a year and a half now and really enjoy it. Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 4-5 beauty items, most of them full-sized.  It is a nice  way to try new makeup and beauty tools.

This month I received:

img_2799

BRIOGEO Rosarco Milk™ Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray — $9

tarte limited-edition Rainforest of the Sea ™ highlighting eyeshadow palette vol. III — $36

TATCHA Luminous Dewy Skin Sheet Masks — Set of 2, $24

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick – $20

Billion Dollar Brows Pencil — $18

img_2808

I was so glad to get this.  I have a small bottle of the Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Leave-In Mask in my October BoxyCharm, and I’m almost out of it. I haven’t used this one before and am really liking it so far.  It leaves my hair very soft.

img_2814img_2818 This is very pretty. There were three variations of this.  All of them has 7 shimmers and 1 matte.  Which is kind of strange, I would have liked a few more matte shades in the palette.  I’ve tried it once, but need to keep testing it out.  I’ll be reviewing it on my blog sometime hopefully soon.  I know I say that each month (Violet Voss palette from December BoxyLuxe for example), but I plan to be reviewing more of my palettes this year! I’m glad I got this, though, and think it’s a nice, neutral palette.

img_2810.jpg

I am so excited about these Tatcha masks! I got two, which is amazing!  I haven’t tried one yet, but I am looking forward to it.  It’s cold and snowy here and my skin is really dry! Hopefully these will help! Tatcha is super luxe and I’ve only tried their primer. I hope to try more from them this year, so this is a nice start!

img_2812img_2813

I do like Ofra lipsticks, but this is way too dark for me.  And I don’t really wear liquid lipsticks that often. I like creamy lipsticks and glosses!  So I will pass this on.

The eyebrow pencil seems really nice.  It’s supposed to be a universal shade, but it might be a little light for me.  My brows are almost black.  But I will keep trying it out.  It’s a nice texture and has a good spoolie on it.

This month is such a big win for me.  I’m keeping 4 out of the 5 products!  I usually only use just one or two. I will use all of the Briogeo spray, the eyshadow, the amazing Tatcha masks and will try to make the brow pencil work.  The lipstick will go to a friend or family member. Not bad BoxyCharm!

You can sign up here. It is my referral link, so if you sign up, I will receive charms, which is their rewards program.

Do you get BoxyCharm? What did you get and what do you think of this month’s box?

New To Me — Natural Skincare and Innovative Brands

Hi all!  I was recently sent some natural skincare for my honest review.  I love trying new (or new to me) brands and finding new favorites!

Below is a coconut oil based cleansing balm, cool peel off and magnetic masks, and body moisturizer with SPF:

Skinny & Co. Clarifying Facial Cleansing Balm
Skinny & Co. Clarifying Facial Cleansing Balm

Skinny & Co. Clarifying Facial Cleansing Balm ($24.95 USD) — One step makeup remover facial cleanser that unclogs pores and brightens as it eases blemishes and re-balances your skin’s natural oils. The secret is our patented 100% RAW Skinny Coconut Oil that is able to nourish your skin while it protects you from unwanted chemicals and toxins that pollute and cause break outs.

What I think: Cleansing balms are so nice to remove makeup.  This one would be great for someone with oily or combination skin.  I have sensitive skin, so this isn’t for me, but my daughters love it, it removes makeup without leaving their skin oily.  Skinny & Co. has a cleansing balm for sensitive skin.  It’s nice there are choices!

Biovene Charcoal Magnet Mask
Biovene Charcoal Magnet Mask

Biovene Charcoal Magnet Mask ($28.27 USD ) — Biovène Magnet Mask is an innovative, natural, anti-aging and rejuvenating face mask consisting of iron magnetic particles, activated charcoal and a blend of the most precious oils nature has to offer for a smooth, firm and radiant complexion.

What I think:  This is so much fun to use.  You apply it and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then you put a cover on the magnet, and it actually removes the mask magnetically!  It leaves my skin soft, smooth and hydrated.  It’s so nice!

Biovene Pink Peel-Off Mask
Pink Peel-Off Mask

Biovène Pink Peel-Off Mask is the next level peel-off mask utilizing Activated Charcoal in combination with star ingredients such as Sodium Hyaluronate, Strawberry extract, Argan Oil & Collagen.

What I think: Peel off masks are my favorite, and this is no exception! This is a mousse like mask that is very pink and smells like strawberries!  Since it is thick, it takes about 30 minutes to dry.  Then it peels off nicely.  My skin is glowing and soft!

Purchase at biovenebarcelona.com

Trilipiderm Broad Spectrum SPF 30 3oz. Tube
Trilipiderm Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Trilipiderm Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($17.95 on sale for $13.46) — The best dry skin protection under the sun – hydrates as it protects against UVA and UVB radiation and contributes Vitamin D. Available in a handy 3 oz tube for your beach bag, ski jacket or purse. Take it wherever you go outdoors.

What I think:  SPF is so important all year long.  This one is nice because it does double duty as moisturizer and SPF.  I love that combo in facial skincare, so why not for the body.  It’s very hydrating without being  greasy and has a light floral scent.

Beauty Mask Review — Dr.Jart+ Dermask Ultra Jet Peeling Solution Mask

Dr.Jart+_s Dermask Ultrajet Peeling Solution Mask

I tried an new face mask, which is so exciting.  It made me think, maybe I should start a new series where I review face masks.  I think it could be fun!

This is the newest addition to Dr.Jart+’s famed Dermask Collection, the Ultrajet Peeling Solution Mask ($9 USD). Here is the info on it:

This 2-step sheet mask is formulated with a rich bubbling formula, composed of carbonic acid powder infused with carbon dioxide, to help deeply penetrate and clear out pores. It also uses a blend of sugar scrub and fruit acids, including papaya enzymes help to gently resurface skin and even out the complexion, leaving it soft and balanced. The perfect repair mask after a summer of sun!

This was interesting and I’m still trying to figure it out.  I applied the scrub first.  My face was dry, but I am wondering if it should have been damp. I rubbed it in a bit and applied the sheet mask. I left it on for 5 minutes (the instruction say 3-5 minutes).  It didn’t bubble up at all.  After 5 minutes, I removed the mask and rinsed off the scrub. My skin looked good afterwards.  The mask didn’t irritate my sensitive skin and my skin looked pretty smooth. My pores did look a little less noticeable, too.

This was a quick and easy mask.  It did smooth out my skin. I’d like to try more Dr. Jart+ masks.

Have you tried this or any Dr. Jart+ masks?

Available now at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Yes to Peel Off Masks Review

IMG_1516.JPG

Hi all! July is almost over, can you believe it?  I’ll be posting my July favorites soon, but today I am reviewing fun peel off masks from Yes to.  I was sent these for my honest review.

I love peel masks.  These help to target impurities, while helping hydrate, calm and brighten skin. Each mask is made with 95% or more natural ingredients, formulated without parabens, SLS and silicones and is Leaping Bunny Certified.

Each mask is $2.99 and you can purchase at yesto.com. Here is the info on the masks and what I thought:

Yes To Cucumbers Calming Peel-Off Mask
Cucumber: A soothing vegetable extract to calm skin

Yes To Coconut Energizing Coffee Peel-Off Mask
Coconut: A tropical moisturizer.
Coffee: Helps skin look tighter.

Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Peel-Off Mask — Formulated with charcoal and tomato extract to help peel away impurities and excess oil, this LBM
(Little Black Mask) helps leave skin naturally clear.
Charcoal: A natural detoxifier and impurity remover to deep clean skin.

Yes To Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Peel-Off Mask
Grapefruit: Rich in vitamin C and lycopene (antioxidant heavy hitters), it naturally helps visibly even skin tone and enhances glow.

Directions: Smooth an even layer of the mask over clean forehead, cheeks, nose and chin, avoiding the eye area, eyebrows and hairline. Build up an edge around the mask. Relax until the mask is fully dry, at least 8 to 10 minutes, then lift edges and start peeling! Rinse off any remaining pieces and moisturize.

I tried all of these except for the charcoal one.  My teenage daughter tried it and like it.  It cleaned out her pores and left her skin smooth!

The three I tried all smelled amazing!  Really fresh, natural scents.  And they did what they claimed.  I have sensitive skin and the cucumber mask calmed and hydrated my skin.

The coffee/coconut mask was also hydrating and my skin was smooth after I used it.  The grapefruit mask did brighten my skin, but irritated it a bit.  Which is fine, the redness went away a few minutes later.

I think that these are so nice and affordable.  They were kind of hard to peel off, so building up an edge on the the outer part of the face is a good idea. And I try to do a thick layer, but it does take longer to dry.

If peel off masks aren’t your thing, Yes to has lots of other types of makes including sheet, bubble and mud masks.  Check them out!
