Lisa Hoffman Beauty Tuscan Fig Eau de Parfum

Fresh and Light Fragrances For Summer

It has been so hot in Kansas City lately. Yesterday was almost 105 — yikes! Today has cooled (?) down to the 90’s. In this hot weather, I love to wear fresh and light fragrances. Below are the ones I have been using and enjoying.

Yves Rocher Summer Beauty Products

If you haven’t heard of Yves Rocher, it’s a French originated company that created botanical skin care, body care, fragrance and makeup.

I was sent some products from the company to test, and have really been enjoying them. Many of these products are very affordable and are of great quality! Some of my favorite Yves Rocher summer products are:

Yves Rocher Mango Passion Fruit Smoothie Shower Gel ($10 for 13.5 oz) — My daughters LOVED this shower gel (past tense because it was gone in a week). The reason why is becasue this mango and passion fruit concoction smells delicious. It smelled just like real fruit and lathered up nicely so that we could also use it as bubble bath! Yum!

Yves Rocher Eau de toilette Monoï ($32 3.3 oz) — One sniff of this and I was transported back to Hawaii — and I haven’t been there since my honeymoon over 20 years ago! Tiare and Ylang Ylang flowers are combined with a Vanilla base, and it is sweet, light and lovely. Vacation in a bottle! They also sell this scent in a body oil, but my teenage daughter took that for her dry legs, and I haven’t seen it since…

Yves Rocher Pearly Water ($10 1 oz) — Pearly and lightly scented skin all at once! Experience an immediate feeling of freshness with this slightly gelled, pearly water. I have the Tropical pencil that is Camel — a shimmery gold — on one end and Tropical Khaki — a dark blue-green on the other end. I love this. The camel is great for the corners of my eyes and lining the inner rims to create a wide-awake look. The Tropical Khaki is gorgeous for enhincing the eyes and looks great with summer colors.

Yves Rocher Shimmering Bronzer ($10 USD) A tanned complexion for the summer! This shimmering bronzer is this summer’s must-have for a natural and radiant tan. Apply with a brush to enhance or intensify your bronzed complexion. This is also a lovely highlighter for darker complexions! So pretty!

Yves Rocher Lip Gloss – Sienna Red

Lip Gloss in Sienna Red ($5 USD) Luscious lips for the summer! Irresistible lips with this yummy-scented gloss. And the color? I am not a fan of red for me, but this shimmery red is beautiful and would be great with a neutral or a smoky eye. It also feels great on and is not sticky — AWESOME!

Mother’s Day Fragrance Gift Guide 2012

Hey ladies (and gents??) — I have been testing some great new Spring/Summer scents that would be perfect for the any fab mother in your life — or yourself, why not? I know I am going to be rocking a few of these sweet-smellers myself! And there are a lot to choose from:

I’ll start with my favorite one — CK One Summer ($48 USD). This one has a very cool lime green bottle with orange writing and cap. I had to pry it out of my teenager’s hands (I gave her Madonna’s new scent, don’t feel bad for her!). I love this beechy, unisex scent because it is so fresh and light. I see myself enjoying it all Spring and Summer long!

Top notes: Blue mint, Cucumber, Lime, Bergamot

Mid notes: Watery accord, Green Apple, Rosemary, Water lotus

Base notes: Rum cocktail, Sandalwood, Driftwood, Sea moss

It’s difficult to tell by the photo, but this is a very cool white glass bottle. Truth or Dare by Madonna ($68.00 USD 2.5 oz/75ml) represents the dual forces that coexist in all of us. Madonna was inspired by her own Mother’s signature scent when she created this sophisticated fragrance. On first sniff, Gardenia is very apparent. You then get the richer notes such as Amber, Vanilla and Musk. Very sweetly sexy, but not too strong.

Top: Rich Gardenia, Creamy Tuberose, Dewy Neroli

Mid: Carnal Jasmine, Benzoin Tears, White Lily Petals

Base: Vanilla Absolute, Caramelized Amber, Sensual Musk Aura

Calvin Klein Eternity Summer ($58 USD) is bright and fresh. It is also light, which is perfect for ever day wear in the Summer time.

Top notes: Orange blossom, Sparkling Sicilian Bergamot, Japanese Pear Martini Accord

Mid notes: Hydroponic Gardenia, White Peony Petals, Blue Hyacinth

Base notes: White Musks, Tonka bean, Heliotrope

L’Occitane Pivoine Délicate Eau de Toilette ($45 USD 2.5 oz) — The Limited Edition Pivoine Délicate Eau de Toilette celebrates the most tender garden Peony, with its pastel shades and large, luscious petals. This is a soft fruity-floral that is as fun to apply as it is to wear!

Elite Models Rio Glam Girl ($9 USD) – This is a fun, affordable fragrance for Mom or for yourself. Captures the vibrant, celebratory spirit of the home of Carnivale.

Top notes: acai berry and juicy starfruit

Heart notes: princess peony, jasmine and violet flower

Base notes: sandalwood and palisander wood

The weather is warming up, so it’s time to lighten up your fragrance for the gorgeous months ahead. What I think: This is a very light, fresh scent. I haven’t tried the original Pulse, but I do like this one and think that it is perfect for ladies who like fruity scents with a woodsy base.

The price is decent for the quality. I say, go try it to see if it is the summer fragrance for you!

Roberto Cavalli

Reviewing fragrances is cool because even if it isn’t something that I would normally wear, I know someone will love it!

But, I still haven’t decided it I love the new Roberto Cavalli perfume or not…here are the details, what do you think?

The Roberto Cavalli ($85 USD 2.5 oz) perfume belongs to the ambery floral family. The artistic line of the Roberto Cavalli bottle recalls the voluptuous curves of a sensual woman. Crowned by a tiara-shaped cap formed by Roberto Cavalli’s golden seal, the bottle is adorned with a tiger-print necklace reminiscent of its creator’s emblematic animal prints.

TOP: Pink Peppercorn

MID: Orange Flower Absolute

BASE: Roasted Tonka Beans

The bottle is gorgeous, classic but not too plain. I love the shape of it. The scent is a lot sweeter than what I usually wear, but the notes of pink peppercorn and tonka beans give it a sultry finish.

My Review of Kate Walsh’s New Billionaire Boyfriend Fragrance

Have you tried actress Kate Walsh’s Perfume “Boyfriend” that was introduced last year? I had heard so much about it, but when I tried it, I didn’t really care for it. The fragrance was too strong (see review below).

She has just released a new scent to the line, Billionaire Boyfriend — and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like it!

As you can see from the photo, the bottle is really cool. It feels like stainless steel with a mirrored finish. The neck of the bottle has sparkly crystals and the top is a clear lastic. It was inspired by a special reserve vintage champagne bottle and is a perfect blend of masculine and feminine.

The notes of this fragrance are Bergamot, Tangerine, Green Lush Leaf, Black Jasmine, Black Velvet Orchid, Gardenia, Patchouli Flower, Amber, Cistus, Vetiver, Sandalwood. It is spicy and sweet, but not too strong. Perfect for ladies who love a sexy scent!

I had only tried the original Boyfriend a couple of weeks before I tried Billionaire Boyfriend. It seems to me very strong and spicy without any sweet relief.

The notes are Dark Plum, Myrrh, Night Blooming Jasmine, Benzoin Tears, Skin Musk, Golden Amber, Vanilla Woods.

Actress Kate Walsh wanted to capture the scent of a guy on a girl: a man’s cologne mixed with perfume, the smell that lingers on the skin. I think Boyfriend just smells like a man’s scent — which can be very nice — but isn’t my thing.

I really do get the feel of a man’s and woman’s fragrance melding together with Billionaire Boyfriend — I think it is very successful.
