My Beauty Favorites — Week of October 12-18, 2015

It’s still a little warm in Kansas City, but it’s starting to feel like Fall is here! I took my kids to the Renaissance Festival today and it was crazy! So many interesting people in elaborate costumes. It was so nice being outside, too!

I have an eclectic mix of favorites this week. From hydrating lip glosses with light-up lids, to a makeup bag that is perfect for travel to shampoo and body lotion that work well for sensitive skin.

What I think: The shampoo is really nice to use a few times a week. I have noticed hair growth yet, but I like how it makes my scalp feel clean and my hair so soft. What I think — I am mostly a liquid and cream makeup girl. But, if I am going to wear a powder foundation, it like it to be pressed and not loose (loose always finds its way to my pores and fine lines). I like using this over a primer and it gives a full coverage when I do. I buff the powder on with the brush and my skin looks even and smooth. A good brush is just as important as the foundation, I think. The foundation and brush sold together is a good value!

What I think — Beautiful shades that last long with an eye primer! These shadows are medium pigmented, you have to get a lot on the brush for maixmum color. But they are very smoothing on the eyelids and the colors are very pretty! My favorites are the Pretty in Plum and Pearl Luxe.

What I think — These are very soft eye pencils. The positive is that they glide on very easily, even in the inner rims of the eyes. The negative is that if you press too hard, the tip will break off. Also, after a few hours, the eyeliner on my bottom lash line begins to smear, even though these are supposed to be long-wearing. Still, the color payout is very good and they are so easy to apply! I love the Bronze for bottom lashes and the Plum is very pretty as well. I wear the Black every day on the inner rims of my upper lashes. It gives the appearance of full, dark lashes!

What I think — These are so fantastic! My favorite lip products at the moment. They glide on smoothly and all give a natural color that leave behind a soft stain. They are all my favorites, except Pretty Woman, which is a little dark for me, but still pretty. They are definitely worth the price. They only downfall is that with all of the wonderful ingredients, they can melt or break easily. My first Je Ne Sais Quoi has melted into the lid and I have to get it out with a lip brush! Still, they are awesome!

I recommend all of these, but especially the Lip Flushes. Enjoy!

Yves Rocher Summer Beauty Products

If you haven’t heard of Yves Rocher, it’s a French originated company that created botanical skin care, body care, fragrance and makeup.

I was sent some products from the company to test, and have really been enjoying them. Many of these products are very affordable and are of great quality! Some of my favorite Yves Rocher summer products are:

Yves Rocher Mango Passion Fruit Smoothie Shower Gel ($10 for 13.5 oz) — My daughters LOVED this shower gel (past tense because it was gone in a week). The reason why is becasue this mango and passion fruit concoction smells delicious. It smelled just like real fruit and lathered up nicely so that we could also use it as bubble bath! Yum!

Yves Rocher Eau de toilette Monoï ($32 3.3 oz) — One sniff of this and I was transported back to Hawaii — and I haven’t been there since my honeymoon over 20 years ago! Tiare and Ylang Ylang flowers are combined with a Vanilla base, and it is sweet, light and lovely. Vacation in a bottle! They also sell this scent in a body oil, but my teenage daughter took that for her dry legs, and I haven’t seen it since…

Yves Rocher Pearly Water ($10 1 oz) — Pearly and lightly scented skin all at once! Experience an immediate feeling of freshness with this slightly gelled, pearly water. This can be used on the face and body. Its fine-textured, golden pearly particles subtly add shimmer to your complexion. Perfect for instantly enhancing your tan!

Duo Kohl Pencils ($6 USD) Highlight your eyes with these Duo Kohl Pencils, which combine two trendy colors. I have the Tropical pencil that is Camel — a shimmery gold — on one end and Tropical Khaki — a dark blue-green on the other end. I love this. The camel is great for the corners of my eyes and lining the inner rims to create a wide-awake look. The Tropical Khaki is gorgeous for enhincing the eyes and looks great with summer colors.

Yves Rocher Shimmering Bronzer ($10 USD) A tanned complexion for the summer! This shimmering bronzer is this summer’s must-have for a natural and radiant tan. Apply with a brush to enhance or intensify your bronzed complexion. This is also a lovely highlighter for darker complexions! So pretty!

Yves Rocher Lip Gloss – Sienna Red

Lip Gloss in Sienna Red ($5 USD) Luscious lips for the summer! Irresistible lips with this yummy-scented gloss. And the color? I am not a fan of red for me, but this shimmery red is beautiful and would be great with a neutral or a smoky eye. It also feels great on and is not sticky — AWESOME!

Fresh New Makeup For Spring and Summer

It’s time to lighten and brighten up your makeup for the warmer months! Some of the following products are new — and some just new to me — but all are lovely for the summer!

Essence Sun Club Bronzing Powder ($3.99 USD) — This is a gorgeous matte bronzer that can be used on face or body — it comes in a nice large compact. To apply, you can use the NEW essence powder brush ($3.49 shown above), and sweep the bronzing powder in blonde or brunette ($3.99) to the hollows of the cheek – making sure to follow through with your stroke and blend the matte color up to temples and slightly into the hairline. Also, don’t forget to brush a little on your forehead and down to the jawline. I love me some contouring! Also, I have the brunette and even though my skin tone is light, the color was not too dark. IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Anti-Aging Lipstick Stain
