Smooth Shaving Part 1 — Whish All Natural Shaving Products

I have been known to just use soap or shower gel to shave my legs. So it was a really nice change to use the luxurious Whish shaving products. This line uses natural and mostly organic ingredients. Without the harsh chemicals, my skin is even smoother after shaving than usual!

The Whish Pomegranate Shave Crave Pump Shave Cream ($24.00 USD), is a very moisturizing, thick cream.  It has a wonderful pomegranate scent that is tart and sweet all at once! The ingredients includes organic shea butter, organic green tea and organic jojoba seed oil, and they leave your skin soft and smooth.  Unlike many store brands of shaving cream, the Whish Shave Crave doesn’t dry the skin or leave it sticky. It’s kind of like a shower gel and body butter all in one.

After shaving, I use the Whish Flawless Ingrown Hair Serum ($22.50 USD) on the little red bumps on my legs. I’ve noticed that even after the first use, the bumps were less noticeable. After a couple weeks of use they seem to almost vanish. Their formula includes wheat germ extract to soothe, yeast extract to regenerate and willow bark extract to fight inflammation. It has a very mild scent and feels cool when you apply it.

The Whish products are “made in the USA with Earth friendly packaging and ingredients. Tested on us, not animals™.” These are a nice splurge, especially with warmer weather (hopefully) in the near future. You can purchase this products along with shower gels, body butters and much more at www.whishbody.com. Enjoy!

Need a Boost for Color-Treated Hair? Try PureOlogy

Yes I am 40. And yes I have gray hairs. And OMG yes, I color said grays! So I was more than thrilled to receive these three fantastic product from PureOlogy. All three that I’m about to describe are from the HydrateSystem. The PureOlogy website (www.pureology.com) states that they are, “Daily haircare products for color-treated hair in need of essential hydration, nourishment, enhanced color brilliance and color protection”.

PureOlogy HydrateShampoo (10.1 oz $27.00 USD) — Includes rose, sandalwood and green tea  for concentrated natural conditioning. The signature aroma blend is Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Anise and a touch of Patchouli. This smells wonderful! I can really pick out the Anise from the blend. My hair feels squeaky clean after washing.

PureOlogy HydrateCondition (10.1 oz  $27.00 USD) — Includes peppermint, sage and rosemary for concentrated natural conditioning. The signature aroma blend is three different essential peppermint oils.  This smells even better than the shampoo and tingles as it works. It leaves my hair soft and even adds some body.

PureOlogy HydraCure Intense Moisture Hair Masque — (5.2 oz $45.00 USD). This includes shiitake, mannetake and mucor miehei mushrooms  and shea, jojoba, mango and avocado butters to penetrate deeply and smooth out the hair. This one I used about twice a week in place of the HydraCondition and leave on for about 5 minutes. This really makes the hair soft and smooth. The signature aroma blend is rose, plumeria, sandalwood, amber and vanilla which is touted to promote a positive sense of well-being.

Some other fun facts about PureOlogy products are that they are 100% vegan, never tested on animals, they include organic botanicals, boost color radiance and most of them reduce drying time.

I really love these products, especially because the color of my dark brown hair now glistens with golds and reds and is so pretty. I realize that the price is high, but these salon hair products are so worth the cost. So check them out!

Cold Weather Defense — Yes To Carrots Skincare

C is For Clean Gentle Expoliating Facial Cleanser
C is For Clean Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser

Kansas City is very dry in the winter. This year especially, since we haven’t had the rain or snow other regions are experiencing. My normally combination skin is so dry. I need help!

That’s where Yes To Carrots skincare comes in.  It helps put back moisture in my thirsty skin and has made it glow again.

The C is for clean Exfoliating Facial Cleanser ($9.99 USD) really scrubs the face. I can only use it a couple times a week because any sort of exfoliation can be a little rough, especially when my skin is so dry. When I do use it, it gives me a nice scrubby glow. Formulated with Dead Sea Mud, organic carrot juice and natural apricot scrubbing particles, C is for Clean removes dead skin cells leaving your skin balanced and nourished.

I follow this up with the C Today or C You in the Morning Moisturizing Day Cream ($14.99 USD) .

C Today or C You in the Morning Moisturizing Day Cream
C Today or C You in the Morning Moisturizing Day Cream

The spring water based day cream combines the anti-oxidant power of organic carrot and orange juices with 26 purifying Dead Sea Minerals.  C Today Moisturizing Day Cream softens, smooths and firms your skin, leaving you with a radiant glow.

I do not recommend this moisturizer if your skin is oily. Even though it is water based and absorbs fairly quickly, you can still feel it on your skin after applying. That is great when your skin is dry, but not great if you tend to break out.

I know I’ve said it before, but check out this organic, paraben-free brand. It is good for your skin and feels great on!

Top 5 Favorite Products of 2008

It’s always fun to look back on the past year.My list of favorite products from 2008 includes not only new products, but items that have been around a while and I discovered them just this year. Here they are:

5.  Almay Bright Eyes Eye Base + Concealer ($8.99 USD) —  This concealer is fantastic! It not only covers my dark circles and blemishes, it brightens too. It contains white tea and marine extract as brighteners and goes on very smoothly.

4.  L’Oreal Skin Genesis SPF 15 Lotion  ($20.99 USD) — Once you apply this lotion it soaks right in and makes the skin glow. I find myself applying less concealer and foundation when I have this on.

3.  Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter ($3.69 USD) — This is the best lip balm I have ever tried! Not too hard, not too greasy, it slides on your lips and stays there! It instantly makes the lips soft and feels really natural on. This wonderful product is 95% organic and is paraben free and comes in carrot, berry, citrus, melon and mint.

2.  L’Oreal Bare Naturale Mascara ($9.99 USD) — Don’t let the name fool you, there is nothing bare or natural about your lashes once you apply this fantastic lengthening and thickening mascara. L’Oreal does claim that “the innovative formula contains 86% natural-origin ingredients, shine-enhancing minerals and is both paraben- and fiber-free.”

1.  Philosophy Amazing Grace ($40.00 USD for 2 oz)– When I first tried this perfume earlier this year, I didn’t care much for it.  But the longer I wore it the more I grew to love it. It’s a soft floral with a undertone of musk. I think this would smell lovely on any woman!

What is your favorite product from this year? Leave me a comment.  Also, if there are any products you think I should try in 2009, let me know. I am always on the look out for new products!

Have a fun — and safe — New Year’s Eve and a fantastic 2009!

Oh No, Dry Skin — Say Yes To Carrots!

I love going to Walgreens. It’s the best of both worlds. You can get two for one reasonably priced cosmetics and discover higher end organic products such as Yes To Carrots, a skincare and haircare line.

Yes To Carrots claims to, “combine the fresh, unadulterated goodness of organic fruits and vegetables with the purifying and moisturizing properties of 26 minerals harvested from the ancient world’s most renowned spa- the Dead Sea”. It also contains beta carotene and it’s “anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties assist the bodies natural process in enhancing your glow.”

I have tried two of these products, the C Through the Night Moisturizing Cream and the C Through the Dry Spell Deliciously Rich Body Butter. Both  of these products are very rich creams that smell faintly of carrots. The night cream is very luxurious and although my skin can get a little oily, it didn’t feel greasy at all.

The body butter is also nice, especially on damp skin after a shower. It holds in the moisture nicely and makes my skin feels very smooth and soft.

The Yes To Carrots line has recently been joined by two other lines, Yes To Tomatoes and Yes To Cucumbers. The Yes To Carrots line is for normal to dry skin, Yes To Tomatoes is for oily to combination skin, and Yes To Cucumbers is for sensitive to normal skin.

I would say check these lines out if you are into natural, organic products.
