Fresh Products For Spring Beauty

Hi all!  I hope your are enjoying spring and that your weather has improved.  It’s much nicer now in Kansas City!

I have been testing a lot of new products this spring.  I’ve decided to feature a few here that have been helping my skin and hair this spring, plus a waterproof cream eyeshadow:

Bioré Blue Agave + Baking Soda Balancing Pore Cleanser ($5.99 USD): Developed especially for those with combination skin, this everyday cleanser deep cleans the oily parts while smoothing and conditioning the rough, dry parts— for balanced, conditioned skin. Not only does it remove deep down dirt and impurities from the pores, but it gently exfoliating away dead cells, allowing healthy cells to emerge. With continued daily use, you’ll achieve softer, smoother skin and a more balanced complexion.
Bioré Blue Agave + Baking Soda Instant Warming Clay Mask ($5.99 USD): Sometimes your skin needs a little extra TLC—plus, what better way to take a selfie—if not with a blue mask on! Designed to purify and refine skin by absorbing excess oils, this instant warming mask opens pores and melts away that pore-clogging dirt, oil, and sebum—leaving your skin clean, soft and refreshed. This warming clay mask, formulated to deep clean pores, is pH balanced for comfortably clean skin. This mask has a unique self-heating technology that is activated when massaged into the skin. This thermal formula in conjunction with purifying and skin toning clays optimize the mask’s ability to deep clean and purify.
What I think:  I have combination skin, so these products are great for me! I also think they would work well for normal-oily skin.  The cleanser really cleans my skin without drying it out.  Plus, it doesn’t irritate it.  My skin is sensitive, too, especially during allergy season.  The mask is really fun it use.  Because my skin is sensitive, I can only do this about once a week, and since there are four in the pack, it’s a months worth.  I love the blue shade and how well it cleans out my pores.  It leaves my skin very soft!

ELLIS FAAS CREAMY EYES ($34 USD) This is a coloured cosmetic applied to the eyelids or to the skin around the eyes to accentuate them. applied in a liquid state, the texture soon dries. unlike other eyeshadows, this formula thereby becomes resistant to the effects of humidity such as tears and wet weather; does not build up in the eyes’ creases; and will not smudge when being rubbed. available in 21 shades.

What I think:  I these in the shades E115 Purple and E104 Grey Brown.  I have found that these work so well as base shades.  They are both fairly deep, but I can use them in my crease or all over the lid.  I can keep the look matte or add a shimmer on top.  These also work nicely as liners, because they are smudge and waterproof.  Gorgeous quality!  And, let’s not forget the cool silver bullet packaging!

These can be purchased at http://www.ellisfaas.com

John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks
John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks
John Frieda Wonder Drops Hair Masks ($3.49 USD) Four targeted hair masks that transform hair in a matter of minutes. Designed to treat hair suffering from frizz, fading, damage or dullness, each mask revives hair with a single in-shower application. Simply shampoo, squeeze out excess moisture and massage the Wonder Drops throughout wet hair.
Available in: Frizz Smoothing, Blonde Brightening, Damage Repairing and Vibrancy Enhancing

What I think:  I have already tried the Frizz Smoothing and Damage Repairing.  The Frizz Smoothing mask really helped cut my frizz down a lot!  This will be so nice to have in the summer when the humidity kills my hair.  The Damage Repairing Mask is nice for damaged hair.  Mine isn’t too bad right now, but I do need a haircut to get rid of split ends! The mask did help my hair and made it shiny and more manageable.

I have very dark brown hair, so I’m going to give the Blond Brightening mask to a blond friend and the Vibrancy Enhancing to my redhead daughter!  It seems there’s a mask for most hair types!

Shop My Stash — April 2019

IMG_0349

Hi all! It’s time for my April Shop My Stash!  I love the beginning of the month when I choose new products from my stash to use.  My goal is to get more use out of the products I have and to see if they are something I want to keep.

img_0350.jpg

I think my choices for April are so pretty!  And they all look new, so I need to give them some love and mess them up a bit!

Here are close ups of the products:

IMG_0356IMG_0355

I received this Violet Voss Pro HG palette in my December BoxyLuxe — and it’s really gorgeous!  I have only used it a few times, so I am excited to focus more on it this month.  I will be able to do neutral brown looks and more warm/coral looks for spring.  The metallics in these are gorgeous!  I haven’t reviewed it yet — and I will try to do it this month.  I say that every month with my palettes, and haven’t done it yet, but hopefully soon I will start reviewing my palettes!

IMG_0354IMG_0353 This is the Rimmel London MAGNIF’EYES Eyeshadow Palette in Electric Violet.  It is so pretty!  I have been choosing more neutral palettes so far this year in my Shop My Stashes, so I decided I needed a colorful one in this month!  I’m going to try to add a palette with color through spring and summer — it’s definitely the season for fun eye looks!  I haven’t played with this one yet, but it swatches so nicely, so I’m excited! And, I love purple!

IMG_0352IMG_0351

I received this CoverFX All in One Perfector Face Palette in my March BoxyLuxe.  I love that it takes care of my face color cosmetics in just one palette.  This will be nice if I travel this year, too.  This is the lighter palette and it works perfectly for my skin tone.

IMG_0357IMG_0358

These are the BareMinerals Gen Nude Patent Lip Lacquer in Can’t Even and Bae.  This is a high gloss liquid lipstick.  I received these lasts fall for review, and I thought these would be perfect in spring.  And they are!  I’m excited to wear them alone, over a lip liner or over a lipstick.

I am so excited to play with these product! Have you tried any of them? What do you think of them?

IT Cosmetics Palettes That Are New To Me!

Hi all! Happy first day of spring!  Didn’t it feel like it would never come after that cold and snowy winter?!?

I’m excited to be reviewing IT Cosmetics products that I haven’t tried before.  I love the brand, but I have mostly tried their skincare and base products.

I was sent these products for my honest review:

IMG_0231

Superhero Eye Transforming Anti-Aging Super Palette ($42 USD)

IT Girl Vol. 2 Makeup Palette ($38 on sale for $25)

Hello Cheekbones Contour Palette ($36 USD)

Heavenly Luxe Hello Cheekbones Contour Brush #19 ($48 USD)

IMG_0234

Here are the palettes opened. I did noticed that the eyeshadow shades in both palettes are fairly similar.  But they are pretty and good for every day looks.

IMG_0238IMG_0237

I have been wanting to try this palette and am so glad I did! The top row are eye foundations, which are bases for under shadow.  The first two are matte, and the last one is a shimmer.  The first six shadows are shimmers and metallics and the last three are matte liners.

These are so gorgeous!  The shadows are creamy and blend nice.  The only thing I wish there was is a matte transition shade.  I am going to do a full review on this palette with swatches soon!

IMG_0235IMG_0236

I believe this was It Cosmetic’s limited edition holiday palette.  It is on sale right now so if you want it, it’s the time to pick it up!

This palette has some of the same colors as the Superhero palette, but it does have more mattes.  The left shadows are shimmer and the right shadows are mattes.  The blush is a pretty pink ombre.

It’s a great palette for everyday, or use some of the darker shades for a nice smokey eye!

IMG_0239IMG_0240IMG_0242

This contour palette and brush is so fun!

The brush is very soft, like all IT Cosmetic brushes.  They’re such great quality.  This is easy to use.  Just sweep it as shown above and then apply it to the cheekbone.  It blends out easily.  The bronzer is pretty warm, but can be used as contour.  I also take this with a fluffier brush to bronze my whole face.

The highlighter is pretty, but not very blinding.  It does give a nice glow and for more impact, I wet my brush and it did give more shine.

Have you tried any of these IT Cosmetics products?  What do you love from the brand?

IT Cosmetics’ QVC TSV IT’s All About You! Your Customer Favorites Collection

I love IT Cosmetics.  It’s such a nice brand and the products have beautiful ingredients and amazing quality!  I think it’s gorgeous for all ages, but I think it’s perfect forolder ladies like myself.  The products contain anti-aging ingredients and their shades of color cosmetics are so lovely!

You can purchase this on QVC.com or buy watching and calling in.  It starts today, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at midnight (ET) and will be offered for one day only! This exclusive four-piece collection features a NEW! brow-transforming essential, a lip-loving favorite in a new shade, an illuminating complexion must-have in new shades—plus a perfectly paired brush! First, create the look of your fullest, most natural-looking brows with the NEW! Brow PowerFULL Universal Volumizing Eyebrow Pencil. Use your included Heavenly Skin CC+ Skin-Perfecting Brush No. 702 to flawlessly apply your Supersize CC+ Cream Illumination with SPF 50+, then apply your NEW SHADE! of Je Ne Sais Quoi all over your lips for your most beautiful finish.

I have tried the wonderful CC+ Cream and brush before.  They are such a nice combo for dewy, hydrated skin.  And the size of the CC+ Cream is huge — 2.53-fl oz!  This will last a long time.

The Brow PowerFULL pencil is brand new.  It is universal for all hair colors, the unique triangular shape allows you to customize your application experience, from the finest line to a fuller-looking brow faster. Brow PowerFULL adheres to skin, covers gray, and looks like real hair!

I like the original pink Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Color Awakening Lip Treatment, but it is a bit bright for my skintone.  This shade in Honey is a pretty nude shade and gives a nice, natural lip look.

This is such a great value!  Are you going to pick this up today?

Shop My Stash February 2019 Results

IMG_2906

Hi all!  Happy March!  I am excited for a new month.  To wrap February up, I’m going to give my thoughts on how the latest Shop My Stash went. Each month I will usually add my empties to this post, but I only had one this month.  So I will hold on to it and post it with my March empties.

I chose the five products above.  You can read more about them and see close up photos here.

My goal in these is to use some of my products more frequently, and also decide if I need to keep them all or pass them along to someone who will get more use out of them than me.  Of course some of these I knew I was going to keep (Modern Renaissance), but others I wasn’t sure about.

I think it was a fairly successful month.  I haven’t been feeling well, so I didn’t wear makeup every day.  But when I did, I tried to use at least one of these products.

Out of the three eye shadow palettes I chose, I used the Chocolate Bar and Modern Renaissance the most. I stated at the beginning of the month that I hadn’t yet reviewed the Chocolate Bar or Venus III yet on my blog, and that’s still true.  I will try to review the Chocolate Bar this month.  I think I may be passing Venus III on to someone else.  The shadows aren’t very easy to work with and the shimmers are so glittery.  It is pretty though, and I think my daughter will love it!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep the LORAC bronzer or the Wet n Wild highlighter, but I found that I love them both!  The bronzer is really nice, especially while I’m still fair.  If I get a (faux) tan this year, I can use another bronzer, but for now I’ve moved it with my every day makeup next to my beloved Butter Bronzer.  It’s so good!

The highlighter is so gorgeous — it’s the perfect tone for my skin!  It is a bit glittery, so I will use it for evenings and special occasions.  But I do really love it, too!

I’ve chosen my five products for March and will hopefully have that up tomorrow.  I’m excited to get started on giving some love to some different products!

Have you done a Shop My Stash?  How did it go for you?

Shop My Stash — February 2019

Hi all! It’s February!  I’m so happy January is over.  It was a long, cold month.  The cold isn’t over, but hopefully will be soon.

It’s time for my second Shop My Stash.  You can see the first one here and the results here.  This month, I have chosen three eyeshadow palettes, one highlighter and one bronzer to focus on. Like last month, I will link if I have featured these or reviewed them on my blog. Here’s the products:

IMG_2906

Here are close up photos of each product:

IMG_2924IMG_2923

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette — I hauled this in September here. I still haven’t done a full review on it, but I will this month.  I used it a lot when I first got it, but I haven’t used it since.  It’s a neutral palette with a couple of pops of colour and I know I can get lots of pretty looks with it. Plus it smells like chocolate!

IMG_2918IMG_2920

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette have really been loved!  It’s a bit messy.  Honestly, I chose this one because it’s a perfect palette for Valentine’s Day!  This is so nice for neutral or pink/red looks. I got it about a year ago and reviewed it here.

IMG_2914IMG_2916

This is my first and so far only Lime Crime purchase.  It’s the Venus III Palette. I bought this in the same haul as the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.  It was about half price and I really loved the shades.  I still need to review this one and hope to do it this month, too.

IMG_2911IMG_2912

This is the Wet n Wild Moon Tears loose highlighter. I got this around my birthday in June and hauled it here.  I like it, but it’s pretty glittery. I choose it this month to see if I want to keep it.  I do need to do a declutter of some of my makeup.  I have some that is old or I just do use.  So we will see how this goes! I have swatched this below.

IMG_2909IMG_2910

I have had this LORAC bronzer in my drawer for a while.  It’s been a bit over a year.  I’ve read that powder makeup is good for about two years. So I maybe have about six more months with this or so.  It’s a light bronzer, which I need because I have fair to light skin.  I LOVE my butter bronzer, but I want to see if this is as good.

I have swatched the highlighter and bronzer:

IMG_2913.JPG

The highlighter is so pretty in this swatch. The color is perfect for me, it’s just so glittery!  I also think the bronzer is a pretty shade.  It’s not too dark for me in winter.

I’m excited about this Shop My Stash.  I have already used all of these this month and am looking forward to seeing what type of fun looks I can do!

Are you doing Shop my Stash this year, or have you done one in the past?  Let me know how it turned out!

Shop My Stash January 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_2781

Hi All!  Can you believe January is almost over?  I’m ready for spring, so I’m okay with it!

I started a monthly Shop My Stash this year. Here is the link to the post from the beginning of the month.  I go over each product with photos.  I also link if I have reviewed them in the past.

I really enjoyed this and tried to use all of these products at least a few times to see how much I like them.  It’s fun to focus on products since I have so many (especially Eye shadows).

The products this month were Urban Decay Born to Run Palette, Tartiest Pro Glow Palette. Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Palette, Pretty Vulgar Blush in Hush Blush and two BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in Cuddle Me (Rose) and Cozy Up (Mauve Nude).

I probably used the Born to Run palette the most, confirming why it was my favorite palette last year (see my 2018 faves here). My challenge was to use other shades than the bronzes.  And I did!  I tried the blues, gray and purple shades.  I’m not a fan of bright pink eyeshadow, but I think I used almost all of the shades.  The quality is gorgeous!

I also loved the You Had Me At Hello Palette. It’s a plummy, reddish brown sort of palette with a bunch of beautiful metallic shades. I did a few varied looks with this.

The tarte contour palette and the Pretty Vulgar blush weren’t my favorites. I decided to choose them because I got them both in subscription boxes this year and I never really used them.  The contour palette is a bit dark for me, both the contour and the highlighters.  My skin is so fair right now that they really don’t show up. The blush is very powdery and so pigmented.  It’s too bright for me.  I think I am going to hold on to them and try them again in the summer.  Or I might just give them away to my daughter!

Th Buxom PillowPouts are really nice.  They are creamy, but are matte when applied.  I like to wear lip glosses over them. I’ll continue using them!

I also am going to include any empties in this post each month:

IMG_2899.JPG

This month I only had three — The Robin McGraw Revelation Live Life Lifted Neck Cream, Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Leave in Mask, and Philosophy Purity Made Simple Eye Gel. I’ve been using the skincare since early fall and I got the Briogeo in a subscription box a few months ago.  I use neck cream morning and night (and eye cream, too).  This neck cream really firmed up my neck area, and the eye cream was super hydrating.  I definitely recommend them both.  I like the hair mask, but I just got the Briogeo Rosarco one and I like that one a bit better.  If you over use this one, hair gets greasy.

So I have chosen my Shop My Stash products for February and will be revealing those soon.  I’m enjoying this series so far!  Stay tuned!

Ipsy Glam Bag Subsription Box Review – January 2019

Hi all!  I hope you’re doing well and having a great weekend!  I signed up for Ipsy again at the beginning of January and was told my subscription would start with the February bag, but I also went on the waiting list for Glam Bag Plus (I’m going to try it again).  I got off of that waiting list and will now be charged and receive February’s Glam Bag Plus, so they just sent me a January Glam Bag!

Ipsy Glam Bag is only $10 a month (Glam Bag Plus is $25)  It’s deluxe samples and some full sized products. You can sign up for these at ipsy.com.

Here’s what I got:

img_2873

YENSA PUMPKIN TURMERIC 2-in-1 Radiance Polishing Mask

LUXIE BEAUTY 1010 Small Contour Brush

KASCA Nail Polish in Velvet Black Matte

FLUIDE Lip Gloss in Elsewhere

CIATÉ LONDON Wonderwand Mascara in Black Magic
This is an okay bag.  I think since they packed it last minute, I got the strange leftovers. My favorite items is the Luxie Brush.  It’s really soft and blends contour nicely. I haven’t tried the Ciate mascara yet, because I want to save it for later or if I travel this year.  I will also try the Yensa mask.  I did try the Fluide lip gloss and it is very shiny and minty.  I don’t know how often I use it.  I will give the black nail polish to one of my daughters.
I am excited to get my Glam Bag Plus in February.  I will be posting a review once I do!
Do you get Ipsy Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus?  What did you get in your January Bag?

Brand Review — Nanacoco

img_2823.jpg

Hi all!  I hope you are doing well! I have another brand review!  I love doing these because it’s so much fun exploring what a brand has to offer.  This one is new to me.  It’s call Nanacoco.  Here is info on the brand:

Founded in 2014, Nanacoco continues to evolve and update its cruelty-free products to match the ever-changing beauty trends. It was essential to create an iconic color cosmetics brand that would have a lasting cult following in today’s digital world. Nanacoco represents someone who is carefree, loving, and isn’t afraid to push boundaries, while constantly moving towards innovation, trendiness, and diversity.

I love that the brand is cruelty free and is so affordable. It’s available on http://www.bbfull.com.

img_2837 These are the Eyeshadow Quad Palette in Elegant ($11.99), The Classic Auto Eye and Lip Pencil in Black ($2.99) and the Outlash Mascara ($10.50).  My photo isn’t great, but this quad is gorgeous!  The colors are all shimmers, but I did a look with the lower left brown shade in my crease, the pink shade on the outer half of the lid, the gold shade on the inner half of the lid, the dark brown shadow on my lower lash, and I tight lined with the the black liner.  It was gorgeous!

The mascara is nice, too.  They have many different kinds, but this one is for length. And it does give great length, but not a lot of volume.  I need length so this is a nice everyday mascara.

img_2838.jpg

Here’s a swatch of the eyeliner and shadow quad.  The colors are so gorgeous and you can do some fun, neutral looks with it.  There are also a few different palettes with brighter shades. The eyeliner is very creamy, but not super black.  It is good to tight line.

img_2839

These beauties are the Glitzn Face & Body Pigment ($7.50) in Lilac and Lemon.  These are so pretty on the eyes.  They will also work as highlighter, they do blend out.  They come in 12 shimmery shades.

img_2840.jpg

The photo didn’t turn out very well, but these are gorgeous and you get a lot of pigment in the little jar.  They are so nice on the eyelid.  I used the Lemon one with my eyeshadow quad and it added brightness and shimmer to my look!

img_2841

For face products, I tried the HD Cover Concealer ($8.50) in Eggshell and the HD Pressed Blush ($8.50) in Shimmery Dusty Rose.

img_2843

I think the pigments were under these, sorry about that!  The concealer is a bit dark for me now, but will work well in the summer.  It’s creamy and is a lighter coverage, but it’s buildable.

The blush is a pretty rose color and is a bit shimmery.  I think this will be gorgeous in the spring!

img_2845

And finally, here’s lips.  The are the Lipfinity Long Lasting Matte Lip Creme ($8.50) in Unveiled, Magnu-Matte Lip Crayon ($7.50) in Fever, and the Shimmertallics Metallic Lip Gloss ($8.50) in Sunkissed.

img_2846

Here are the swatches of the matte cream, crayon and lip gloss. These are all pretty nude shades.  The matte liquid lipstick is moussey when applied, but it dries down so much and is a bit uncomfortable on.  I can wear it with gloss over it.

The matte crayon is really comfortable.  I think this is the item I will use the most.  The gloss is pretty, but is so metallic.  Maybe it will be good for a night out.

All in all, I am very impressed with Nanacoco.  The products are really great quality for the price.  My favorites are the eyeshadow quad, the pigments, the mascara and the blush.  I will keep using them to see how I continue enjoying them.

Have you tried Nanacoco?  What do you think of the brand?

Switch Up Your Look With Affordable Makeup From Rimmel London

Hi All! It is cold and snowy in Kansas City today!  To get out of the winter doldrums, I have been playing around with my brighter makeup.

I’ve received some fun Rimmel London color cosmetics for my honest review. I love the quality and affordability of this brand.

rimmel londons magnif'eyes palettes
Rimmel London’s Magnif’Eyes Palette
As we’re gearing up for the new year, what better way is there to go into it being bold, creative and colorful? Create a masterpiece on your eyes with the Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Palette ($8.99 USD)! Each palette comes with a mix of 12 super pigmented high-shimmer and matte shades that are crease-proof, smear-proof and has some serious staying power. Available in 5 palettes: Spice, Crimson, Colour, Electric Violet and Jewel Rocks.
What I think: I have these palettes in Crimson (reviewed here) and I have just received Electric Violet.  If you’re looking for a really purple palette, this is a good one.  The eye shadows are nicely pigmented. I love that this is very cool toned and that there are some neutral colors as well as purples for a complete look. And I love how affordable it is for 12 shadows!
Available at CVS, Walgreens and on Amazon.com
rimmel london stay matte liquid lipstick
Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick
You know what they say: you can never have enough lipsticks. Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick ($4.99) has a wide range of gorgeous shades, from subtle to very bold! These velvety, 12-hour wear liquid lippies will top of any look imaginable all while staying put all day long.
What I think: I am not the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks, but I do love these. These are very creamy when applied and are not sticky, even when drying down.  Once dried down, they are dry, but not uncomfortable.  I always apply a lip balm first and usually wear a gloss over (I love gloss). They do wear all day!  For the shades I love, they are usually nudes an pinks — 110 Blush, 200 Pink Blink, 707 Raw Kiss and 709 Strapless.  Some of the bolder shades I like for a night out are — 800 Midnight, 810 Plum the Show, and 820 Heartbeat. Do you want a wilder shade?  How about 830 Blue Iris, 850 Shadow or 840 Pitch Black?  There are also bright pinks, reds and lots of ranges of nudes!
They also have a satin formula, and I am hoping to try that this year.
Purchase at Target, Walmart, and Walgreens
