LipFusion always creates innovative lip plumping products. Their newest one is a tinted lip balm with the added benefit of SPF.
The LipFusion Conditioning Stick SPF 15 ($22.00 USD) is a minty, moisturizing lip balm that claims to plump, hydrate, protect, and imparts a hint of tint. It is available in 5 shades:
Berry (sheer plum)
Bitten (sheer strawberry)
Buff (sheer nude)
Butterscotch (sheer mauve)
The description of the product is:
This lightweight, delectable, luxurious lip essential is made with nourishing oils and creamy butters that provide the perfect level of comforting hydration, along with SPF 15. It works to soothe cracked or chapped lips without being sticky or tacky, and comes in a convenient “retractable bullet” format for on-the-go application. Doses of AmpliFat™ and marine collagen filling spheres help to increase lip fullness, immediately and over time. Paraben free and proven to increase water content of the skin by 6000% in four weeks, this high-payoff treatment suits all skin types. It is dermatologist tested and not tested on animals. What I think: First, the metal bullet tube is one of the most chic lip balm package I have seen. I have the Bitten and Buff and both shades are soft and pretty. Unlike LipFusion’s glosses, you can’t really feel the plumping and it isn’t very noticeable to see. But love the light moisture it gives and the SPF. Also, I have noticed that my lips are less dry than they were when I first began using the conditioning stick.

My lips are in pretty good shape for a 40-something. I don’t have lines around my lips yet, but they can always use more moisture and a little plump never hurt either! As we age, the moisture in our lips reduce and they get thinner and more susceptible to wrinkles.
LipFusion XL ($50.00 USD) is a spearmint-flavored nighttime lip plumping therapy. The idea is to put it on before bed and you will wake up to plump, firm, hydrated and sexy lips. It combines active collagen with hyaluronic acid. Instead of needing to inject this collagen, “Patented, dehydrated, hyaluronic acid-filling spheres™ have a remarkable, sponge-like absorbency that captures the body’s natural water, causing spheres to swell a dramatic 50 times larger for maximum hydration and a long-term plumping effect. Once LipFusion XL is applied, lips swell continually for hours to visibly “fill” lines, boost volume, and keep lips lusciously moist”, claims the Fusion Beauty website .
I really like this product and think it is worth the price. I have been applying it every night for about a week and my lips have been looking great all day. Even my work friends have complimented my lip gloss and ask if I’m wearing a lip plumper. I haven’t been during the day, since there is no need to. My lips are plump and firm and look natural as well.
So if you need a little help in the lip area, go to Sephora or Ulta and try it out — it’s always good to try before you buy! You can also learn more about it at www.fusionbeauty.com.
Jane Iredale is a line known for mineral makeup. I have been able to try some of their great lip products that have natural ingredients used to moisturize and plump lips.
Just Kissed Lip Plumper ($24.00 USD) – Is a cool mint and ginger lip plumper that also contains shea butter, sunflower oil and aloe vera to soften and hydrate the skin. It also includes time-released peptides that, “have been shown to increase hydration and stimulate collagen synthesis”. It comes in 5 colors, with my favorite being Tokyo, a peachy-pink color which will be very pretty for spring. I really love this products because it is like using a balm with color added. When I apply it, it tingles a bit, but is not painful and is very shimmery on. It keeps the lips soft all day, which is great for any lip product, let alone a plumper!
PureGloss for Lips ($19.00 USD) – This product is also a plumper with mint and ginger, but this is a shiny, full color gloss. It hydrates the lips like the Just Kissed with a glossy finish. It is made of a base of organic vegetable oils with added botanicals including extracts of green tea, grape seed and pomegranate. This gloss comes in 19 colors! I really like Apricot. It is a pretty neutral that makes my lips look full and sexy!
Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper ($24.00 USD) – This is my favorite of the three. One side has a brown sugar exfoliator that you rub gently on your lips, then can lick the sugar right off! Then, apply the tinted lip plumper with shea butter and peptides that moisten and plump. The color of the plumper is a sheer pink. It is a lot like the Just Kissed plumpers, but gives your lips a soft glow without a lot of color.
I really like the idea that you can plump and moisturize your lips at the same time. I think these products are great for women of all ages, but the 40+ ladies will really love the way they smooth the lines out and leave lips soft. Visit the website at www.janeiredale.com to learn more.
Another intriguing new line at Target is NP Set by Napoleon Perdis — Australia’s makeup guru. Perdis had said that his new line is “dedicated to effortless glamour”. Inspecting the display of white and black sleek products, my first impulse is to agree with him.
I only tried a few items of this line. Some of the stand outs are the Concealer Look which gives amazing cover for my dark under eye circles and the Loose Dust Duo eye shadow that has a double ended wand, one end with a darker shade, one end with a nice highlighting shade. There are ten shade combinations for this product, so you can surely find colors you like.
The item I was most impressed with is the Pasarella Mascara. This is a conditioning, volumizing mascara that contains beeswax. It plumped up my paltry lashes and didn’t smear all day. That’s a good mascara! And for $15.00 not a bad price for a higher end product.
Although I like this line, one item I tried left me cold — actually it left my lips burning and they are still red today! That is the Lip Stain and Plumper. Wow, I did not care for this product. This comes in two shades, Moon Pink and Star Coral. Both shades are very bright and candy-colored. I don’t wear either shades, so I picked the coral one because I thought it might look okay on me. It didn’t. Besides the unflattering color, this product does not apply evenly, sitting in globs on my lips and oh did it BURN! And, unfortunately, my lips didn’t show any plump for the pain. It’s been almost three days since I tried it and my lips are still sore. This is one craptastic product. Save the $15.00 that this will cost you and buy the mascara instead!
