Review of Skincare Brand Joey New York

I have recently tried a couple of products from Joey New York.  This is a brand that was around years ago and is making a return.  Their products have the trendy ingredient coconut water, which is unusual in skincare.  Here is the description of the brand from their website, www.joeynewyork.com:

Joey New York Keep It Up ($42 USD) — For a Lifted and Tightened Look.  Joey, together with her team of chemists and researchers, developed a specialized blend of luxurious spa ingredients to help counteract the look of sagging skin, pores and wrinkles on the face, neck, jowls and decolleté.

Benefits:

  • Helps temporarily uplift and firm the appearance of skin horizontally and vertically
  • Helps create a youthful look and a tight yet comfortable feeling all day

Features:

  • Contains Coconut Water with Indian Ginseng Extract Complex plus peptides
  • No parabens, no phthalates, no sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates

What I think:  I have applied this all over my face and neck, and in a few minutes, my face was firmed and smoothed.  It did feel a little tight for me and there was a bit of a crust around the edges of my face.  The second time I tried it, I used less and it worked better.  I think this is a good product for a special occasion or an evening out.  I don’t think I could handle the tightness every day.

Joey New York Correct-A-Line ($36 USD) — For Face and Eyes.  Joey, together with her team of chemists and researchers, developed a specialized blend of luxurious spa ingredients to help your wrinkles and pores, within minutes, appear as though they disappeared.

What I think:  This is skincare and primer in one product.  I love the matte, velvety finish and that this gives, plus skin is so soft and touchable! I apply it under my eyes and all over my face.  I like to wear it under makeup — it provides a smooth surface for my foundation and powder.

Right now I am particularly loving the Overnight Time-Release Retinol Capsules and the Anti-Aging Tinted Eye Brightener.  The capsules are a gel that when applied, leave skin smooth and soft.  They also have a matte finish, which although not so important at night, I really love.

The eye brightener is a quick step after concealer, that brightens eyes and minimizes the look of wrinkles. Also helps with my morning puffiness!

What I think:  I like this lotion.  It is very lightweight and quickly sinks into the skin once applied.  It does give a matte finish, but if I apply a lotion afterwards, that could negate the mattifying effect.

I also notice that after I apply this, my skin does look smoother and my pores appear a bit smaller.  I love retinol, it is a great antidote to aging skin! But, it is also gentle and can be used up to twice a day.

Algenist Firming and Lifting Cream

Algenist is a fairly new brand of skincare that I was introduced to last year.  I really loved the products that I have used (see my review at http://tinyurl.com/72b6eqg) so I was excited to try their new Firming & Lifting Cream ($94 USD)!

This product is an ultra-firming and restructuring cream that tightens and lifts while reinforcing skin structure.  The claim is that it leverages the power of alguronic acid and ProPeptide3. Brought together in a never-before-seen antiaging complex, these ingredients boost production of skin’s key structural proteins: elastin, collagen, and proteoglycans. As it strengthens skin’s structure, this advanced formula redefines facial contours, leaving skin smooth, sculpted, and lifted.

Algenist Firming and lifting cream contains This cream also contains avocado oil, phytosterols, and olive fruit oil to moisturize and nourish the skin. It is dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested, for all skin types, hypoallergenic, non-irritating, non-comedogenic, and not tested on animals.  It does not contain parabens, sulfates, sythetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates or triclosan.

What I think:  The texture of this cream is very thick, like a butter or a balm.  But it is not greasy once applied.  I have been using it morning and night for a couple of weeks on my face and neck.

My skin looks good, but I don’t know how much firmer it is.  I’m lucky not to have sagging skin (yet), but I do like the moisture this gives my skin and my neck is smooth.  I will continue using this every day to prevent sagging skin.

What I think:  This eye-makeup remover is extremely gentle and effective.  One swipe on a cotton pad, and my waterproof eye makeup disappears!  The best part is that it doesn’t irritate my eyes at all!  I haven’t notices if my lashes look longer, but I have only been using it for a few weeks, but I can tell that my lashes are well conditioned.  Excellent product!

What I think:  I really like these purple-tinted products. What I think: I have been using this cream at night over serum.  I smooth it over my face and neck.  After one use, my skin was smooth and moisturized; after a couple of weeks worth of use, I can tell that my skin is starting to looks a bit tighter.  I am going to continue use because I love how my skin looks!

Wei East Chestnut Firming & Contouring Pads ($25.00 USD)  —  Reverse age-related drooping and sagging with this quick, convenient treatment. What I think:  This is fun to use and so easy.  I use it about every other night before my serums and creams.  It smells fab and feels cooling, plus it is firming and lifting!  Awesome!

Wei East Chestnut Refirming Eye Treatment ($35.00 USD) — Lift, tone and re-contour the entire eye area with the power of Chinese Chestnut, Black Soy, Seaweed and Chinese Angelica. These key ingredients work to naturally restore the eye area elasticity and smoothe away imperfections.

What I think:  This is my least favorite product of the three.  It has kind of a dry texture, so it is a little hard to smooth under my eyes.  It also irritated my extremely sensitive eyes.  Because of this, I only used it once so I can’t really review the effects of the cream.

For lips: In 3 days, fills in the appearance of deep lines above and below lips.** In 2 weeks, 77% agree contour and shape of lips is visibly improved.*

While I am not the target audience for these products, I found them soothing and extremely moisturizing.  I love that the day cream has an SPF of 25 — important for women of all ages.  The applicator for the eye and lip cream is so smart — I apply the product with the flat end and smooth it around my eyes or lips with the silver ball.

What I think:  I love these products!  It’s crazy that they can be so gentle going on delivers powerful anti-aging benefits!  They are fragrance-free and soothing when applied.  I have sensitive skin and Algenist products do not irritate my skin.

Since I have been using Algenist, I have noticed that my skin is smoother (pores appear smaller and fine lines are less noticeable), and it has a youthful glow.  I have only been using Algenist for a few weeks, but I will keep using it and see how my skin changes over the next month or so.

What I think:  This is such a great idea for a summer powder.  I have the medium, and I am in between Golden Honey and Tan so I mix them together.  I use Bronze for a bronzer and I know as my (fake) tan fades, I know I will be more Medium Beige.  So I get all different looks in one product.  Genius! The only thing that I don’t care for is that there is a little shimmer in it and I like my powder matte. This is for sale at a Target store near you.

Perfekt Beauty Cheek Perfection Gel ($28.00 USD) — gives an instant lit-from-within flush to the cheeks.   The multitasking formula glides on effortlessly to instantly per-fekt and enhance the appearance of the cheeks. Smart Color Technology™ assures a perfect color  match for every skintone. This gel leaves a hint of natural color, sculpting and  highlighting the cheekbones.

What I think:  I like to use just a little bit of this gel to get a lit-from-within glow.  It comes in two shades — Blushed and Bronzed.  I have Blushed, which is a pretty red-toned blush that looks so natural on.  But you can tell it is blush, I have had many compliments on it.  Purchase at www.sephora.com or www.perfektbeauty.com.

It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Shadow Trio & “No Tug” Shadow Brush ($29.00 USD). This eye shadow trio is all about intense pigment, in a naturally pretty look. What I think:  I have tried the Pretty in Plum palette and love the colors.  It is highly pigmented and last a long time, especially over It Cosmetics Bye Bye Lid Lines Anti-Aging Primer.  The brush is gorgeous, too.  Purchase at www.qvc.com.

It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Brightening Face Disc  w/Luxe Brush ($48.50 USD).  This palette includes a matte bronzer, luminating powder, and vitality blush. They are packed with skin-loving ingredients such as hydrolyzed collagen; acai; green tea; and vitamins A, C, and E.
