Root coloring kits are so wonderful because they cover the gray (making me feel better) in only 10 minutes! Also, using color only at the crown instead of all over is so much better for the hair!

What I think: I have dark brown hair that really shows the grays. My color is Dark Brown #4 and it matched perfectly with my hair color. Plus 10 minutes was just enough time to completely cover the grays while looking natural. The applicator brush worked pretty well, but it was kind of bulky and hard to get in the roots. I had to wriggle it in there. But since the coverage was great, it worked out okay in the end!

I spray this on damp hair and let air dry. To achieve more curls, I shape them with my fingers and fluff up my hair. It works really well helping created a tousled ‘do. Also, it is very affordable for such a great product.

What I think: The shampoo and conditioner are very thick and I was worried that my thin hair might get weighed down or greasy. Instead, after showering my hair was soft and bouncy! I use these two products about every other day when I shampoo my hair plus the HYDRArestore once or twice a week for deep conditioning.
The other products are fantastic, too! I especially like the HYDRAboost, I spray it on my roots first and then all over for lift and hold and I use the HYDRAtame and HYDRAsmooth before I blow dry or straighten my hair. The scent of all of the products is very soft and pretty, but does not overpower my perfume.

My hair gets so dry and frizzy in the summer. The humidity and the fact that I’m pulling my hair back or using a straightening iron to tame it, means that my hair looks more fried than usual.

I think that anti-aging hair care is a brilliant idea. Although we can color the grays, we can’t cover the fact that our hair is getting dryer, more fragile and thinner.

Yay! I was finally able to try the Instyler Rotating Hot Iron Hair Straightener ($99.99). This tool is quite different then other hair straighteners and curling irons that I’ve tried. Awesome, right? Well — yes. The Instyler is super easy to use. I just take a section of my hair and hold the Instyler brush side on top and the brush smooths the hair while the cylinder rotates and applies heat. To make waves or curls, just rap hair around the cylinder, allow a few rotations, and release. Super cute!
My hair is wavy, but fairly thin. Of the three settings, I use the lowest one. I started using the highest setting, thinking my wavy hair needed it — but it fried my hair. The medium setting worked, but didn’t leave my hair shiny. So like baby bear, I used the smallest — I mean lowest — setting. And voila! My hair was straight and shiny! And curls stay longer, too. I would suggest experimenting with the settings, but only use the highest setting if you have very course or curly hair.
