The Body Shop Fall 2009 Makeup Collection –Precious Pearlescents

I love the Body Shop’s makeup line. Their colors are always fresh and shimmery, without being too young and sparkly. Their fall collection is all about the shimmer.  From luminous eye and cheek trios, to metallic eyeliners to satiny lipsticks, The Body Shop’s Precious Pearlescents collection is a completely bright and fun line to color our Autumn.

The products in the collection are:

Colourglide Lip Color ($12.50) – This lipstick claims to offer vibrant lip color that moisturizes, glides on effortlessly and provides long-lasting color. I do think this lipstick lasts a while on the lips, but it is a bit dry for me. I love that it contains Community Trade marula oil from Namibia, natural sesame seed oil and organic Community Trade beeswax. It also has a nice Tahitian gardenia fragrance and vanilla flavor. The lipstick is available in a whopping 37 shades so you are sure to find the color for you!

Eye Trio ($16.00) — I love, love, love this shadow.  This shimmery trio comes in two color combinations, Moonlight Trio (the one I have), which is silver, green and lavender, and Sundown glow, which is beige, copper and chocolate browns. The cool thing about it is that you can use the colors separately — the silver is gorgeous as a lid color — or sweep a shadow brush around all three colors and you get an iridescent mermaid eye. Very pretty!

Blush Trio ($23.00) — This is like the Eye Trio in that you can use separate shades or swirl them all together and use as one blush. This soft, shimmering blush comes in Cool Dusk, shades of pinks and berries and Warm Sunset, shades of peaches and bronzes. This is a very light and pretty look that would work well at all times of the year.

Metallic Eye Definer ($11.00) – This smooth and blendable eye liner is infused with Vitamin E which is a protective antioxidant. The colors are Brilliant Blue, Vibrant Emerald, Shimmering Steel, Burnished Amber and Glowing Amethyst.   I really enjoy the soft shades of these liners as they are very versatile. I like using the Burnished Amber beneath my eyes for a subtle shimmer and the Glowing Amethyst on the top lashes for a smoky effect.

It Cosmetics Fab Concealer — Bye Bye Under Eye

Bye Bye Under Eye Shades and Tube

  • IT Cosmetics are innovators when it comes to makeup that can make you look your best. They have kits to bring out your eyes, plump lips and make teeth look white at the same time, make your legs look smooth and defined as well as many other wonderful products.
  • So when I tried their new concealer, Bye Bye Under Eye, I knew it would be good. But I didn’t realize how good!

It Cosmetics worked with leading plastic surgeons in Brazil to create this full coverage, highly pigmented anti-aging concealer utilizing  innovative technology and ingredients. Bye Bye Under Eye offers a waterproof, yet moisturizing formula that will stay put no matter what.  The formula contains high concentrations of Vitamins K, A, C, E and Hydrolyzed Collagen – which is clinically proven to reduce under eye puffiness and discoloration while strengthening the delicate skin of the under eye area. Bye Bye Under Eye

Since it is so highly pigmented, I use just a little drop for each eye. I then pat n with my ring finger to blend it in. I also use it on the inner corners of my eyes for an instant brightness. This product does cover under eye circles very well. As it is thick, it really needs blending. Once it is blended well, the under eye area is very smooth and light.

Bye Bye Under Eye is available in four shades: Light, Neutral Medium, Tan and Deep. The light is very light, so I use Neutral Medium.

Cover Girl Exact Eyelights

Exact Eyelights Eye Shadow
Exact Eyelights Eyeshadow

The CoverGirl Exact Eyelights collection was created to make all eyes looker brighter and the color of the eyes pop. I was excited to try the eyeshadow, as I have already tried — and love — the Exact Eyelights Mascara.

Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Eyeshadow is a color-coordinated eyeshadow collection  designed to bring out your blues, greens, browns and hazels, and define your eyes. The shades are Vibrant Browns, Radiant Blues,Vivid Greens, and Majestic Hazels and it comes with a soft bristle brush for easy application. I tried the Vibrant Browns for my brown eyes. The colors seemed a little ho-hum in the compact — beige, bronze, silver and black. But the combination on my eyes was a definite wow! You can wear it however you like, but I tried the instructions on the packet and really enjoyed the look. The beige is swept all over the lid, the bronze goes on the inner part of the lid, the silver is placed in the crease, and the black is used as eyeliner. This is a look that can be worn everyday, then maybe a little more added at night time.

I have already tried the Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Mascara that contains light reflecting metallics and claims to  brightens the eye by 4 times.  This is a great mascara that defines lashes and doesn’t clump. Try the waterproof version if you are active. The shades are  Black Pearl for brown eyes, Black Sapphire for blue eyes, Black Ruby for green eyes and Black Gold for hazel eyes.

Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Eyeliner rounds out the Eyelights line. This pencil liner is available in Vibrant Pearl for brown eyes, Radiant Blue for blue eyes, Vivid Ruby for green eyes and Majestic Jade for hazel eyes. I have not tried this product, but the claims is that it defines eyes while highlighting the eye color.

CoverGirl is available in drugstores, Target, Walmart and many other great stores. Also, visit their website at www.covergirl.com. They have a fun tool that allows you to virtually try on the products before you buy!

New Milani Eye Liners for Fall

Summer makeup is so easy. You don’t need a lot for a fresh look that is perfect for the season. But fall makeup is a different story.  When the weather turns cooler, and the fashions become more bold, the bright colors come out of the makeup cases and on to our faces!

Milani has introduced two new eye liners that are perfect for fall.  Eye Tech Liquid Eye Liner and Infinite Liquid Eye Liner offer bold lines and bright colors, and even though it is not quite fall yet,  I have already begun having fun experimenting with them.

Eye Tech Liquid Eye Liner ($6.99) puts the control in your hands.  This pen-style liner boasts a water-based formula that has a “flow thru system” and a felt-tip applicator for a steady line in one stroke.  It goes on incredibly smoothly and you can get more than one look from it. The first time I tried it I was going out with friends, so I did a thick cats-eye line on my top lashes. I have also drawn a very fine line at the base of my lashes to for a more natural look.  It is available in black, brown and charcoal.

Infinite Liquid Eye Liner ($5.99) is a long wearing liner that boasts a waterproof formula that lasts up to 24 hours.  This comes with a very thin brush that you dip into the product and apply. Once you apply it, you have just a few seconds until it dries to correct any mistakes, because it STAYS ON!!! My daughter applied the blue liner (Infinite) on her friend and it took a lot of makeup remover to get it off! You know that if you put this on in the morning it will stay on all day! It is available in 5 dramatic shades: Infinite (the metallic electric blue),  Endless (metallic purple), Eternal (golden green), Forever (golden bronze) and Everlast (black). My favorite is the Forever, it is so pretty and wearable for day.

Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection for Fall

“Pencils are back in a big way for fall. They’re quick, mistake-proof and can go from subtle to bold in one easy stroke.” – Bobbi Brown

I agree with Bobbi. I love pencil eyeliners. They are the easiest form of liner for me to maneuver. Bobbi Brown’s Ivy League Collection contains pencil eyeliners — as well as pencil lip colors — as the focus of a classic fall look.

I recently tried a few items from Bobbi Brown’s fall collection including her new and improved Creamy Eye Pencil ($20.00) — It is  designed to go on smoothly and evenly and features a built-in smudger for a softer, smoky effect. Available in 9 shades including: Jet, Walnut, Caviar, Midnight, Hunter, Brown Plum, Dusk, Charcoal and Mahogany. I tried Mahogany. This is a soft taupey brown with a dash of warmth to it. It is creamy, but it takes a few swipes across my lids for the color to be intense enough to show; it’s quite a subtle brown.  I like the look it gave me and I think it will be great for fall.

Bobbi also adds two new pearlized eye shadows, Autumn Shimmer Wash, a warm bronze and Bash Metallic, which a forest green for lining and defining ($22.00). I have the Bash Metallic and I like using it in my crease when I’m wearing beige shadow on my lids and the Mahogany Creamy Eye Pencil as liner. It’s a fun way to wear a pop of color. You can use the Bobbi Brown Angle Eye Shadow Brush ($28.00) which is ideal for applying shadow in the corner, in the crease or all over the lid.

The Ivy League Collection also includes a fresh, new spin on fall’s strong eye: Forest Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($21.00). To create the shade, Bobbi blended deepest green with golden pearls to create a liner that really makes eyes pop.

By far, my favorite product of the line is Bobbi’s Lip Crayons ($22.00). This awesome pencil “combines the luxurious feel of a lipstick with the ease and convenience of a jumbo, crayon-inspired pencil.” Including a custom-sized sharpener, the Lip Crayon is available in six shades: Honeysuckle, Coral Pink, Raisin Berry, Posey, Dusty Nude, Wild Rose. I have Dusty Nude, which is a medium beige that is so pretty on. It’s a lovely natural that will go with all my autumn outfits!

beautyADDICTS

Looking for a luxury cosmetics line that you may not have tried before? I love discovering beauty lines that many people haven’t heard about and introducing them to you, my fab readers. There are so many great ones that are not for sale at department stores or Sephora. Like beautyADDICTS.

beautyADDICTS takes a unique approach to makeup. All of their products fit into 4 color families: Glow — soft pinks and lavenders, Express — bronzes and creams, Motivate — berries and plums, and Seduce — rubies and silvers. I tried the following products:

SolutionEYES in Motivate($35.00) — This eye shadow quad is incredibly pigmented and the colors glide on so smoothly. A friend of mine who doesn’t usually wear makeup, fell in love with the flattering shades of pinks and berries in this palette. I think these colors would look great on all skin tones because they are so highly pigmented. The mix of shimmers and matte shadows make it great for day or evening.

SleekCHEEKS in Express ($28.00) — This blush duo includes a shimmering cream and a sheer matte powder to create lots of looks. The formulas are  oil absorbent and include advanced antioxidants. The Express colors are coppery and are a little to warm for my skin tone, but they go on smoothly and give a subtle hint of glow.

Marina Cosmetics– The Kiss of the Sea

I love trying new lipsticks and lip glosses. I seem to be more drawn to lip glosses these days because they make the lips feel moisturized and are non-drying. Lipsticks can be very drying and it is great to find one that makes the lips soft and glossy.

If you are looking for a hydrating lipstick, try Marina Cosmetics – The Kiss of the Sea. Both their lipsticks and lip glosses are enriched with hydrating sea minerals, plus other nourishing ingredients like seaweed, jojoba oil and natural waxes. They are also Dermatologist tested, Hypoallergenic,  and Paraben-Free.

The Sea Perfected Lipstick ($20.00) gives a soft, sheer wash of color that has a hint of shimmer to it.  Available in ten colors, I have Pink Sand, which is a glimmering rose color.

Hydrating Lip Gloss ($22.00) This non-sticky and moisturizing lip gloss is fun to apply at any time of the day. It gives the lips shimmer and shine. Available in ten colors as well, I have tried Sandcastle which is a light beige.

Darac Beauty

As a forty-something woman, I am always looking for products that will make my skin appear flawless. Darac, a celebrity makeup artist, has introduced a makeup line that focuses on flawless skin. His Core Solutions are made to help women with solutions to common, but troubling makeup problems. Darac says on his website, “Everyone has similar core concerns. When you say, my foundation doesn’t match my skin; my powder makes me look like my great-great grandmother; I used to have long delicious lashes and now I have four sausages, or anything else you’ve struggled with, Core Solutions offers you specific solutions with instant results.”

I have recently tried some of Darac’s fantastic products. My favorites are:

Feature Focus ($39.50) is a compact of 3 different cream bases made to cover, contour and highlight the face. This product comes with the Looking Glass Cheat Sheet, which is a cling sheet that you can put on your mirror. It contains a diagram of where to place the products.  Forgive is a great color for concealing, Forget is for highlighting and Frame is a darker shade to sculpt. I love to use Forgive under my eyes and on blemishes, Forget goes on my cheek bones and under my browbone and Frame is great for my chin area!

The TourQuam ($40.00)  TourQuam Luxe ($75.00) brushes are some of the coolest I’ve tried. They are super-soft and full and contain magnets in the handle which I think draw the product into the brushes so you can swirl on an even coat of the product and use less of it. I use the TourQuam for bronzer and blush and the TourQuam Luxe for my powder.

Sifted Blur ($32.00) is more than a powder. Used with the TourQuam or TourQuam plus, I sweep it all over my face and it instantly makes my face look even and glow. The website states that, “Sifted Blur can be used as a under foundation to facilitate application of makeup and not allow it to rob water from your skin; it can be used over foundation to set and perfect makeup; or used without any makeup at all, any time of the day.” I have used it over my makeup and on its own, but I am going to definitely try it under my makeup in these hot, humid summer days when my face gets a little oily!

Expedition Mascara ($19.50) really lengthens my lashes while adding volume. Summer Allergies have forced me to wear my glasses instead of my contacts, and with Expedition, my lashes keep hitting my glasses! I have to make sure they are totally dry before I put my glasses on. This mascara also is vitamin-packed and nourishes lashes with a silk extract. I have noticed that my lashes stay glossy, black and soft all day long! You can also use the tiny detail brush included to get all of your little lashes and your bottom ones as well.

Mally Beauty

Celebrity makeup artist Mally Rancal has created a cosmetic line that I think would look great on any woman, no matter her age or skin tone. The colors are vibrant and extremely well pigmented, and just a lot of fun to wear!

To create a smooth canvas for the color, try Mally’s Ultimate Performance Professional Foundation ($45.00). This is a cream foundation that covers well while looking natural. I like to apply it with my fingers or a sponge, but it does come with a very soft hand-tufted foundation brush. The foundation is available in five shades; Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Rich

The City Chick Smokey Eye Kit ($40.00) is an easy way to acheive the coveted smokey eye look. The palette includes a cream base, a soft neutral and a medium and dark shade that work great for smokey eyes. I have tried Plum Chelsea which is a fun alternative to the original black and gray smokey eye. The kit comes with an eyeliner pencil and is available in Brownstone, Skyscraper, Central Park, Nolita Navy, Midtown Merlot and Plum Chelsea.

My favorite Mally product is the High Shine Liquid Lipstick Pen ($20.00). This beautiful lip color is a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss. It covers and is opaque like a lipstick but is shiny like a gloss. I have Perfect Pink, a very pretty neutral medium pink. I have been wearing it everyday because it goes with everything and looks natural, yet polished. It also comes in Summer Peach, Super Natural and Sweet Berry.
