My Beauty Faves Week of March 9-15, 2015

It has been so warm, dry and wonderful in Kansas City this week! I have been wearing short sleeves and really need to paint my toenails! But it is going to turn cold and rainy by the end of the week, boo!

So, I am trying to get my skin and hair ready for the spring, along with finding a new fragrance and foundation/skincare.

This week I have been loving a new unisex fragrance, a skincare foundation, a clarifying body cream and color-saving hair products!

EAU DE GAGA by Lady Gaga ($34 for 1.7 fl. oz.)– EAU DE GAGA is Lady Gaga’s first unisex fragrance. It is built around a beautiful heart of white violet, an intoxicating flower that fuses female and male attractions. The scent opens with an invigorating burst of sparkling lime to counterbalance the woody-floral intensity, and evolves into a sensual trail based on leather.

What I think: I really like this unisex scent. I think it is perfect for women who like a woodsier scent and it would smell great on any man. Plus, it’s a fun thought to be able to share your fragrance with your guy!

Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer SPF 30 ($42 USD) — Algenist’s Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer SPF 30 combines key microalgae ingredients to deliver great professional color and biotechnology skincare. Made for all skin types, this lightweight formula provides extraordinary skincare results as it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, refines skin texture while smoothing and visibly restoring skin’s elasticity and suppleness. Algenist creates a bridge between color and skincare by carefully selecting ingredients that work together to provide sheer to medium coverage to visibly even out skin tone and blur imperfections instantly. Fine lines and wrinkles appear reduced and SPF 30 helps protects the skin from sun damage.

What I think: I’ve never tried a product like this. It applies kind of like a CC cream as it has a thick texture and gives a medium coverage, but it is buildable for heavier coverage. But, the cool thing about this cream is after a few days of use my skin looked so good! The redness and enlarged pores I have been dealing with have been greatly improved.

What I think: I have been using this on my legs and arms to get them ready for spring and summer. My skintone looks even after use and it smooth and glowy!

My Beauty Faves Week of March 2-8, 2015

It has been so warm in Kansas City the last couple of days that it feels like Spring! My skin is still trying to get over the cold and it is so dry! So I am still loving products that moisturize and get me ready for the longer days ahead! My faves this week include a hydrating facial mask, a velvety eye cream, floss picks that whiten, affordable luxury makeup brushes and a cool light-up lip gloss!

Hada Labo Tokyo Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask ($14.99 USD) — This sheet mask is the perfect option for a spa treatment at home. In 10 minutes this mask delivers an immediate boost of hydration using Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin looking smooth and restored. The box included 4 masks! What I think: This hydrating sheet mask is so easy to use. I just apply it to clean skin and 10 minutes later, I have super soft skin! And it doesn’t irritate my super sensitive skin! My Beauty Faves Week of February 16-22, 2015

I have been watching the Oscars, and all of the ladies look gorgeous! It is important to choose great skincare, makeup, nail care and fragrances to pull of glam – and everyday – looks.

This week I am loving a fab skincare and foundation set, skincare for my nails and a fresh fragrance:

Glossier Phase 1 Set ($80 USD) — Glossier is resetting the beauty game, starting with the most important thing: a perfectly primed canvas. This is skincare as makeup—a mist, moisturizer, balm, and tint, designed to work together to perfect (not conceal!) skin while requiring minimal effort on your end. All you need are your fingertips.

Products included from left to right in photo (and my opinion of them) are:

Perfecting Skin Tint: This light foundation evens out discoloration and leaves your face looking toned, smooth, and dewy. The breathable, ultra thin formula auto-fits to skin, making application as simple as throwing on moisturizer. It is very sheer, like a liquid, but you can build it to a medium coverage. I like it, but it is a bit sheer for me (I need my coverage). I think it is perfect for those who want to showcase their good skin. Comes in three shades.

Balm Dotcom: A hydrating, long-lasting, do-everything skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, irritated skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes. I like to use this on my cuticles and as a lip and face balm when it is very cold out.

This comforting cream allows you to layer and build up to the perfect amount of moisture depending on climate, season, or how your skin’s feeling on any given day. I like how moisturizing this is. It is more of a moisturizer than a primer, but it does help even out skin, getting it ready for foundation.

I have a sample of this in the Jasmine and Sparkling Mimosa scent. It is fresh and sweet, like juicy fruit — a perfect spring scent. And, it is light so you can spritz it on the body, or in your hair. Very nice and so affordable!

Review and Giveaway — L’Occitane 28 Day Divine Renewal Program

I have just finished a new skin care regimine from L’Occitane called the Divine Renewal Program ($130 for 28 treatments) that launches today on usa.loccitane.com. It contains organic immortelle essential oil and it acts in 4 steps, specifically developed to work in tune with the skin renewal cycle. The product is used for 28 days; 4 formulas in 4 weeks to enhance overworked skin’s natural ability to regenerate.

What I think: This is such an interesting idea for treating aging skin. When I opened the box and saw the 4 rows of individual capsules, I noticed that they seemed all the same. But, as I used each daily treatment, I could see different results to my skin each week.

My skin is very sensitive, so the first week was a bit hard on my skin, so I just used half a treatment each day. But, by the second week, my skin seemed smoother and was happy to get to the hydration week! By my last week of treatment, my skin tone was more even and my fine lines and wrinkles were definitely less noticeable! This is really a great system!
