LUSH’s Fab Face Masks

LUSH makes wonderful, fresh beauty products for skin, hair, and bath time. I recently tried a couple of their fresh masks.

Oatfix Fresh Face Mask – This mask is described as “a delicious blend of banana, vanilla and oats to cleanse, soften and moisturize dry and sensitive skin.”  This smells really yummy, like a dessert. It is a very gentle mask that does not irritate at all and softens the skin nicely. This is great if your skin can’t take harsh mud masks. It also makes a gentle scrub when you are in a hurry.

Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask – “An effective, exfoliating face mask wich gives normal to oily skin a softened smoothed and radiant glow. Polishing almond shell is balanced by the skin softening qualities of almond oil and seaweed gel.” This is a great scrubby mask that will leave skin glowing. I like to leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then scrub it off with water for an extra bit of exfoliation. This smells like lavender, which is another ingredient, and is very green!

You can only buy the masks at LUSH stores. Since they are made fresh daily, they can’t be shipped. So visit your nearest LUSH store and enjoy!

FACE Stockholm’s Dramatic Fall 2009 Collection

Face Stockholm Fall 2009

I love FACE Stockholm’s exciting seasonal looks. For fall, they have come out with a collection that is as wearable as it is dramatic. The products used on the model in the photo are:

COLOR ESSENTIALS
Beloved Lipstick — deep, berry-red
Tuija Lip Pencil — dark red
Generös & Utsökt Matte Eye Shadows — Generös is a soft terracotta, and Utsökt is light cream
Myrrah Brow Shadow — a beautiful dark warm brown
Rome & Hudson Crème Blush — Rome is a matte pinky-bronze and Hudson is a soft shimmery peach.

To achieve the look in the photo, FACE Stockholm suggests:

For flawless porcelain skin, start with FACE Stockholm’s Picture Perfect Foundation in your favorite-skin flattering shade. Use Rome Crème Blush as a contour below the cheekbones and Hudson as a highlighter on the top of cheekbones. A little Myrrah Brow Shadow helps to create full, but groomed brows. Generös Matte Eye Shadow is best applied with our #39 Blender Brush in the crease of the lid, while Utsökt can be applied to the whole lid up to the brow. Our Lash Curler and Volumizing Black Mascara complete the eye. And for the all- important lip, apply Beloved Lipstick with our #18 Lip Brush over Tuija Pencil.

I think that the lipstick is beautiful, but more of a night color, unless you blot it and wear it as a stain. My favorite product is the brow powder as it is the perfect shade for me.

Color Club Wild at Heart Collection for Fall 2009

Wild at Heart Collection
Wild at Heart Collection

When Fall rolls around, my wardrobe, my makeup and yes, my nail polish goes darker. I always feel I “need” the new cool Fall color. This year, it’s dark green and deep purple (at least that’s what the magazines will tell ya)!

Color Club, a quality salon nail company, will be soon releasing their Fall line, Wild at Heart. This is a collection of six sparkly, mostly deep colors and one quick-dry top coat. The colors are:

Love Em Leave Em — Shimmery, cool beige with lots of sparkle

Wild and Willing — Sheer, sparkly bronze

On the Wild Side — Molton steel gray

Rule Breaker — Frosty, deep green

Wild at Heart — Dark purple with multi-colored sparkles

With Abandon — Black with bronze sparkles

This is a beautiful fall collection. My favorite colors are Rule Breaker, because I get tons of compliments when I wear such an unusual color, and With Abandon because the black and bronze mix for the allusion of dark brown. It’s a very cool color! Also, Love Em and Leave Em is a pretty soft beige that will look great on everyone.

Color Club’s 0-60 Speedy Top Coat is still a bit tacky after 60 seconds, so I wait a few minutes after application to use my hands. It works pretty well though.

Color Club has also released thier new mini holiday collections:

Halloween 2009 Master of Disguise Collection — a white creme, a black creme, an orange glitter, and a purple with pink and blue shimmer.

Dark Romance Matte Collection — a black matte creme, a white matte creme, a silver matte shimmer, and a matte top coat

Holiday 2009 Wonderland —  a white glitter, red glitter, and subtle green glitter and a top coat.

Be on the lookout for these great collections. They should be for sale soon! Check out www.cosmeticgroup.com for their past collections.

Smashbox Reign Collection

Smashbox has recently introduced their Fall 2009 Reign Collection. It is described as, “a decadent color collection inspired by the rule of the English Tudors. Mired in salacious scandal and regal indulgence, the Tudor era epitomizes the lavish extravagance of the noble class.   The luxe, sexy and indulgently sensorial collection provides a glimpse into the opulent lives of the traditional bourgeoisie with a decidedly contemporary twist.”

These are very rich, deep colors that are all created with the quality that one finds in Smashbox’s cosmetics. My favorites from the collection are:

Lip Gloss ($18.00) — This is a very pretty and non-sticky gloss that is available in one color, Crowned, a shimmery peachy pink. This will go with both warm fall and cool fall looks. It would be great with a gray, brown or purple smoky eye. Or just black eye liner and shimmery beige shadow will complete a lovely day look.

Eye Shadow Palette ($42.00) — This nifty palette is packaged in a regal leather-look compact. It contains 6 total baked shadows — 3 shimmer and 3 matte. It comes in two color combinations Majesty (matte and shimmer champagne, fuchsia and black) and Monarch (matte and shimmer soft gold, copper and deep brown). I like wearing the champagne as a base and the black as liner from the Majesty collection for a day eye, or using all three shades to create a nice smoky evening eye.

Doubletake Lip Color ($22.00) — This pencil is a lip liner on one end and a creamy lip color on the other. It contains vitamins C and E and lip-renewing caffeine and moisturizing wheat glycerides. The available shades are Currant (matte deep berry) and Amaretto (matte peachy pink). They both look great alone or with the Crowned Lip Gloss on top for extra shine.

The collection also includes a peachy-nude blush, a plum version of their Lash DNA Mascara, and a Jet Set Eye Liner palette of four neutral shades.

Perfekt Beauty Skin Perfection Gel

Perfekt Beauty Skin Perfection Gel
Perfekt Beauty Skin Perfection Gel

Are you a busy woman? Do you have time in the morning to produce a flawless face with primer, foundation and powder — as well as all of the other makeup that you need to look your best? Well, join the club! But there is help for us!

I have been using the Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel ($57.50) over my moisturizer every day. It is a gel-mousse that works as a foundation, primer, color corrector and powder all in one. I apply a small amount with my fingers all over my face. It gets rid of the redness and is a great sheer foundation. If I want more coverage, it is completely buildable to get the effect I need. It also makes my skin appear very smooth and has a great matte finish. I do use a little powder to set it, but then my skin looks flawless!

This product is available in 5 shades: Translucent – clear, Luminous – light , radiant – medium, Rich – tan and Decadent – mahogany. I use Luminous, but Translucent would make a great primer or just for a natural look.

H2O+ Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator

Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator
Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator

H2O+ is a company that successfully marries skincare with a spa experience that you can enjoy in your own home.

To commemorate their 20th Anniversary, H2O+ is introducing an ultra-hydrating version of their best-selling Face Oasis. The new Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator ($40.00 1.7 oz)  is a lightweight, water-based gel. This can be used morning or night, for refreshing, non-greasy hydration. The formula includes bio-marine extracts that are touted to moisturize, leave skin firmer, plumper and more youthful. It also contains Nutri-spheres, small little white beads that are doses of Polyvitamin Profusion, a synthesis of antioxidants that help diffuse free radical damage.

I have been using this as my moisturizer day and night for a couple of weeks now. What I love about this product is that it goes on silky smooth and gives my skin an instant cooling sensation. Then it soaks in quickly, leaving my skin soft and not at all greasy. It is a wonderful before-makeup hydrator. And it smells great. It has the H2O spa-like scent that is so nice.

I am still trying to decide if I like the Polyvitamin Profusion beads. I love that I get an extra shot of antioxidants, but they are hard to dissolve on the skin, and they need to be rubbed in quite a bit.

Still, my skin is soft and glowy using this product and I highly recommend it.

Hampton Sun’s Sweet Smelling After Sun Care

Even though it may be sunny after this weekend, Labor Day seems like the unofficial last “soak up the sun” weekend of the summer season. This is the last weekend in my area that the outdoor pools will be open. Last chance for some sun (but of course use sunscreen)!

Hampton Sun’s line include suntan and sunscreen products, plus after sun products, like the ones I am reviewing.

After Sun Moisturizer ($30.00) — This is a very light moisturizer that is great to rub on sun-stressed skin. It contains a blend of natural ingredients — Emblica Fruit extract, Aloe, Almond Oil, Walnut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Cocoa Butter, Tea Tree Oil, Green Tea Oil, and Chamomile.  The formulas is touted to help prolong a tan. As I am not really tan now, I love using it as a daily moisturizer.

Serious Shimmer Cooling Spray “Pearl” ($32.00) — This shimmery body mist cools and hydrates the skin with Aloe Vera, Chamomile, natural botanical fruit extract and Vitamins A through E. Once you shake it up, a lovely pearl swirl is activated and it gives the skin a light shimmer. This is nice in the summer, but will also be wonderful for the holiday season. Spray a bit of this on arms and legs before you put your party dress on. Pretty!

Both products are infused with the Privet Bloom fragrance. The website describes the scent as, “A delicate scent that captures the purity and elegance of summer in the Hamptons, with a fresh and unique blend of sea spray, dune grass, blue plum and the captivating privet blossom. This signature fragrance new from Hampton Sun.” The scent is a light, clean floral that is not overpowering. I like to moisturize with the After Sun Moisturizer, then spray the Serious Shimmer Cooling Spray on to layer the scent.

Get Lovely Lips with Kissable Couture

Kissable Couture
Kissable Couture

Kissable Couture is a luxury lip gloss line that is created by former model Keisha Nash Whitaker and makeup artist AJ Crimson. They created the line to give women sophistication, elegance and to make them feel sexy.

I love these lip glosses! They are shiny and natural feeling, and not at all sticky. The glosses come in a variety of colors from sheer and shimmery to opaque and glossy. My two favorites are sheer: Dreams, a very light pink and Horizon, a pinky-bronze. They stay on for quite a while and look fresh the whole time. Very nice!

The lip glosses retail at $22.00 each. Visit the website at kissablecouture.com to purchase or to find a retailer near you. Enjoy your glossy lips!

The Body Shop Fall 2009 Makeup Collection –Precious Pearlescents

I love the Body Shop’s makeup line. Their colors are always fresh and shimmery, without being too young and sparkly. Their fall collection is all about the shimmer.  From luminous eye and cheek trios, to metallic eyeliners to satiny lipsticks, The Body Shop’s Precious Pearlescents collection is a completely bright and fun line to color our Autumn.

The products in the collection are:

Colourglide Lip Color ($12.50) – This lipstick claims to offer vibrant lip color that moisturizes, glides on effortlessly and provides long-lasting color. I do think this lipstick lasts a while on the lips, but it is a bit dry for me. I love that it contains Community Trade marula oil from Namibia, natural sesame seed oil and organic Community Trade beeswax. It also has a nice Tahitian gardenia fragrance and vanilla flavor. The lipstick is available in a whopping 37 shades so you are sure to find the color for you!

Eye Trio ($16.00) — I love, love, love this shadow.  This shimmery trio comes in two color combinations, Moonlight Trio (the one I have), which is silver, green and lavender, and Sundown glow, which is beige, copper and chocolate browns. The cool thing about it is that you can use the colors separately — the silver is gorgeous as a lid color — or sweep a shadow brush around all three colors and you get an iridescent mermaid eye. Very pretty!

Blush Trio ($23.00) — This is like the Eye Trio in that you can use separate shades or swirl them all together and use as one blush. This soft, shimmering blush comes in Cool Dusk, shades of pinks and berries and Warm Sunset, shades of peaches and bronzes. This is a very light and pretty look that would work well at all times of the year.

Metallic Eye Definer ($11.00) – This smooth and blendable eye liner is infused with Vitamin E which is a protective antioxidant. The colors are Brilliant Blue, Vibrant Emerald, Shimmering Steel, Burnished Amber and Glowing Amethyst.   I really enjoy the soft shades of these liners as they are very versatile. I like using the Burnished Amber beneath my eyes for a subtle shimmer and the Glowing Amethyst on the top lashes for a smoky effect.
