Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Review and More!

Hi all!  I have been testing out some new Urban Decay products that were sent for my honest review!

I love Urban Decay (I have also just purchased the Urban Decay Naked Honey palette and will be reviewing it next week).  Their products are innovative and cruelty free, and the ingredients are good for you! Here’s what I received:

IMG-1819

The main product I wanted to review is the Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation ($39 USD) — The claims for this foundation are:

This lineup of 50 shades with 9 shade intensities, 3 mastertones, and 7 undertones to dial in precise color match. The waterproof, longwear foundation feels like wearing nothing, thanks to a breathable, flexible formula that moves with you (all day and all night, up to 24 hours!). It not only feels better, it even looks better with its stay-true color, which minimizes the appearance of pores—so you always look like you.

My shade is 20CP, so it is light with a cool pink undertone.  It might be a little light for me, but I make it work with bronzer and blush.  I LOVE the finish of this foundation on me.  At 51 (yep), it’s important that I achieve a natural finish that doesn’t settle in wrinkles and pores.  This glides on my skin and makes me look flawless, but not like I’m wearing makeup. And it feels so light on (I hate greasy feeling foundation).  It’s so good and I’ve been wearing it everyday.  I need to start reviewing another foundation, but I only want to wear this.  LOL!

I also really love the The Ultimate Brush Off Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($36 USD)  — a finely-milled vegan powder that blends seamlessly to extend the wear of your foundation without adding any weight or texture (forget that old-school cakey feel). It sets makeup while absorbing oil and shine for a totally blurred-out effect, blending seamlessly without causing flashback, so you can take as many selfies as you want. Touch-ups on the go are easy thanks to the portable powder and its built-in, cruelty-free brush.

This powder is so good, it really is smooth and doesn’t cake at all.  I like using a sponge for my under eye area, but I do use this brush on the rest of my face.  It buffs in the powder and makes everything smooth and even.  I sometimes use a fluffier brush for a lighter application.  It’s lovely either way.

The last two items are lippies — Vice Lip Chemistry Lasting Glassy Tint in Pink Slip ($22 USD) and the Lip Plumper in Honey.

IMG-1820

On the left is the Lip Chemistry and on the right is the lip plumper.  Here’s more info about the lippies:

Vice Lip Chemistry is a vegan, high-gloss lip tint that reacts to your pH and creates a custom shade unique to your tone. Its lightweight, balm-like texture gives your lips a hit of hydration, so they feel moisturized. The lasting glassy tint adjusts to you; the color fully develops and reveals itself after just a few minutes and lasts up to 5 hours. Vice Lip Chemistry’s vegan formula goes on smooth and glossy (never sticky!) and does not transfer.

The vegan lip plumper gloss combines high shine with microfine, multidimensional glitter and a tantalizing scent. This formula has an almost-instant, refreshing tingly effect, creating fuller-looking lips minus that sticky feel. Caffeine, jojoba oil, and sunflower oil combine to give you smooth, intense shine with a cooling and plumping sensation.

My favorite of the two formulas is the lip plumper.  It’s a little tingly, but doesn’t hurt. It’s glittery, but will be nice for the holidays. It tastes like honey, too! The Lip Chemistry is cool.  It does change color and it feels really comfortable on.  I don’t think I will wear it everyday, but I’m having fun testing it out.

Purchase these at https://www.urbandecay.com/, Ulta, Sephora and other great beauty stores and websites.

New Lippies Review!

IMG_1043.JPG

Hi all!  Happy 4th of July! I hope your day is going well.  It’s storming in Kansas City today, but hopefully it will stop before evening, for fireworks!

I have recently received some new lippies from Em Cosmetics, PUR cosmetics and MGS Accessories for my honest review.  The packaging on all of these are gorgeous, so I thought I would review them together — so much fun!

IMG_1044

From top to bottom:

Em Cosmetics Infinite Lip Cloud ($20) — A velvety, air-whipped crème that glides on, and saturates lips in rich color. This non-drying liquid lipstick was created by blending the lip-cocooning, line-filling properties of a lip primer with the color saturation of lipstick. The shades from top are Faded Clementine and French Nude

Pur Cosmetics Out of the Blue Light Up High Shine Lip Gloss ($18 USD) — Pucker up to kissable lips with highly pigmented, Light Up High Shine Lip Gloss with blue light defense… wear alone or layered over lipstick to add a touch of mesmerizing shine. The shades are in the middle and are Focused and Goals

MGS Beauty Matte Liquid Lipsticks ($20 USD) — These are long lasting and are nourishing with Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil.  Each of MGS Accessories products are vegan and cruelty-free.  The shades are on the bottom and are Natural and Peachy

IMG_1046.JPG

From left to right — Em Cosmetics in Faded Clementine and French Nude. PUR in Focused and Goals and MGS in Natural and Peachy.

The Em Cosmetics Infinite Cloud lipsticks are a very nice formula.  They are very light on the lips, when I apply them it almost feels like nothing is on.  They dry down all of the way.  They are a little drying on, but they are not uncomfortable.  They are very long lasting and gorgeous on!

The MGS Accessories Matte Liquid Lipsticks is a thicker formula than the Em Cosmetics.  It takes a little longer to dry down, but when it does it’s a very nice formula.  It’s a little drying but it lasts all day!  I love wearing glosses over all liquid lipstick, because as an aging woman, you can really see my lip lines with them.  I’m happy to say both of these formulas work really well with lip gloss over them.

Speaking of glosses, the PUR Cosmetics glosses are so nice!  They aren’t sticky and feel very hydrating on.  The two I received have a bit of sparkle to them.  There are two others that don’t have glitter, if you like that better.  There is a button on the lid of these that lights up the wand for easy application and there’s a mirror on the side of them.  Very fun!

I’m enjoying all of these products and will continue to use them!

BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder Review

IMG-2088

Hi All!  I hope your weekend is amazing!

I was recently sent the new BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powders ($22 each).  These are plumping  powders that are a comfortable matte finish. Here’s the description from the Buxom website:

Thanks to its innovative wet powder technology and mess-free sponge applicator, this weightless, pout-plumping pigment glides seamlessly across lips to deliver rich color that never feels dry or tight. The smudge-proof formula provides a soft and sexy stained effect that stays put for up to eight hours-no matter what you get up to during the day or night. Available in ten vivid shades designed to build to your perfect coverage, ranging from subtle nudes to bold berries.

Here is a close up of the lip powder.

HOW TO USE
1. Twist off cap to reveal the product-coated, sponge-tip applicator.
2. Apply sponge tip directly to lips
3. Reload sponge tip with more product by twisting cap back on.
4. Repeat application to build coverage.

Here are swatches:

IMG-2091

From left to right is Soft Whisper, Cuddle Me, Darling Dolly, Cozy Up, So Spicy, Want You, Spoil Me, Turn Me On, Kiss Me  and Seduce Me.

The first five are the shades I love.  I wear softer colors like nudes and pinks.  The bolder shades will be fun for the fall and winter.

I really like the formula.  It is really creamy, for a powder.  I feel that it doesn’t make my lips bigger, but it does plump them up and help fill out the lines, which I love.  It doesn’t tingle like Buxom’s lip glosses.

I have been wearing these every day.  They are amazing for pulling a makeup look together. They also look nice under a gloss.  I definitely recommend these lip powders!

Have you tried the new Buxom lip powders?   What do you think?

WUNDERKISS GLOSS LIP LINER
Wunder2 Wunderkiss Gloss Lip Liner

Wunder2 Wunderkiss Gloss Lip Liner ($11.95 USD) — This liner is created to be used with  lip gloss! The liner is very smooth and easy to use. The claim is that it can be used to  create a beautiful, long-lasting lip contour that keeps your lip gloss in place. I find that it does just that.  My gloss looks fresh for longer. Available in 3 shades — Nude, Rose and Berry.  I love the Nude, but the Rose is so pretty, too!  The Berry is a little dark for me, but I might try it in the fall.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sunset Splash Collection

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sunset Splash Collection

I have been loving these Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sunset Splash Collection for my end of summer nails looks. Give your nails a gradient summer splash with the “Sunset Splash” collection which features 6 shades. From glamorous sunset sky to glitter gradients this collection definitely has you covered. I love doing an ombre look with these or I use a cream like Smartease and add a shimmer or glitter accent like Metro Midnight. Plus since I use these with their gel top coat, they stay looking amazing for about a week!

Maybelline Lip Studio Python Metallic Lip Kit Review

IMG_0431.JPG

Maybelline Lip Studio Python Metallic Lip Kit  ($9.99 USD) feature duos in gorgeous lip colors and prismatic lip powders.  I was set the collection to review for my honest review.  These can be purchased at mass market retailers.

These are duos as you can see below, a lip cream and a metallic top coat.

I’m going to swatch these in groups.  Here are the first three:

IMG_0509

From left to right — 05 Passionate, 10 Piercing and 15 Venomous.  I have placed the two colors in each kit side by side, then above is the two colors together.  These are all very bold and fun!

IMG_0502

From left to right — 20 Wild, 25 Valiant and 30 Provoked.  Wild is bright and fun!  It’s kind of hard to see in the swatch, but the metallic is a bronze.  I think this look will be nice on tanned, summer skin.  My two favorites out of the whole collection are Valiant (I love purple) and  Provoked is a cool nude.

IMG_0504

IMG_0505.JPG

From left to right — 35 Snakebite and 40 Untamed. Snakebite will be so fun for St. Patrick’s day, especially with the gold on tip.  Untamed is really cool. Great for dramatic looks!

What I think:  These are on trend and really fun.  And there are a good variety of shades to try.  These do work well, and I find the best way to use them is to apply the lip color with a brush, then dab the glitter on with a finger.

Also, the metallic toppers can be used on the eyes, or maybe even as a glittery highlighter.  They are a bit sticky, so make sure to blend!

The only negative to me is they feel a little dry on.  Plus, I’m almost fifty and I can’t see myself wearing these often. Maybe for fun nights out and holidays.

Have you tried these fun lip products?

New Lippies from essence makeup!

img_0418.jpg

I’m a fan of essence makeup!  Their products are affordable and generally pretty amazing!  They has recently released some fun new lip products. I was sent a few to test for my honest review.

IMG_0419

IMG_0421

essence ultra last instant colour lipstick ($4.99): This is a long-lasting lipstick with a  creamy texture.  It does last for a while, and leaves a stained lip after eating or drinking.  I like that it doesn’t dry out my lips. Available in 20 shades.

Here are swatches of the lipsticks:

IMG_0424

From left to right: 16 Fancy Blush, 5 Un-Grey-Tful and 17 Bur-Berry.  Fancy Blush is my favorite and one I can see myself wearing a lot.  I usually wear lighter colors, but this will be nice for goring out.

img_0426.jpg

essence butter sticks ($3.99): These are very pigmented and hydrating, even the matte ones!  The modern retractable stick is super convenient and easy to apply. Available in 5 glossy love & 5 matte love shades.

IMG_0427

The first two are matte and the third is glossy. It’s hard to tell from my swatch, but the glossy one is shinier.  The shades are matte 2 Hot Cocoa, matte 5 Betty Gold and glossy 4 Dark Syrup.  Dark Syrup is really the only wearable color for me, but I would wear the matte one in a different shade. These are all really hydrating and easy to apply.  I find they cover well, too!  Probably my favorite of all three products!

IMG_0428

essence vibrant/metal shock lip paint ($4.49): Bright and metallic lips are so popular right now! These claim that one swipe gives an instant high color impact with a semi-matte finish.  Available in 6 vibrant and 6 metallic shocking shades.

img_0430.jpg

Left to right are vibrant in 3 Red Viper, metallic in 5 Arsenic and 3 Lilly of the Valley.

These are probably my least favorite of the products.  They are sheer and need a few coats to build up.  I’m also not the biggest fan of drying liquid lipsticks.

Have you tried any of the essence lippies?  Which ones are your faves?
