This is a natural, healthier, hair color that contains a spectrum of 29 shades. Since it’s pH is low, it holds both hair color and hair care in one bottle. The claims of this product are:
“NATURALCOLORS is the healthier hair color dye with certified organic ingredients and perfect gray coverage. It is applied using heat to open the cuticles. This method protects the hair from damaging, unhealthy ammonia used in chemical color dye to open the cuticle. The pH value of NATURALCOLORS is much lower than chemical color dyes and many “natural” hair colors dyes. After rinsing the hair’s pH value is closer to a neutral value. The scale layer of the hair, the cuticle, is closed, and the color does not fade, providing a more natural, permanent solution.”
This was a bit more complicated to use than other hair dyes. You apply to scalp, then cover with a plastic hair cap and blow dry for 10 minutes. Then remove the cap, apply the rest of the product to the hair and let sit for 20 more minutes. I have to be honest, I didn’t stand in my bathroom for 10 minutes drying my scalp. But I did it for a few minutes and did wait the whole 10 before applying the rest of the product.
I like that this didn’t sting or stain my skin. It smelled nice, too. The shade I bought was the third darkest shade after Black and Darkest Brown. My hair is dark brown, so I thought Dark Brown would match. It was almost black! But after a few days, it wore down to my natural Dark Brown. And, it covered my gray really nicely.
I really liked the results with this. My hair was dark and shiny. And I was happy to use natural hair dye without all of the chemicals. Plus the color has stayed fresh for weeks!
Do you color your hair? What products do you like?
I included makeup this time! I don’t have any pressed powder products, and don’t know when I will. I’m not close to pan on any pressed shadows, blushes, bronzers etc, because I have so many and like to use different products every day.
Starting with my much loved Maybelline Fit Me! loose powder. I have recently purchased a new powder (and new foundation and concealers) and want to start trying them, so I need to use this up. I’ve been using it for months. Same with the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines foundation and Bye Bye Under Eye concealer. I received all of these in the fall and have been wearing them on and off. It’s time to finish them. They are all so nice and I have been loving them.
I was looking through my stash and saw that I hit a little pan on my ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Reversible. I’m going to try to top off my eye looks with this and maybe even use it as a highlighter.
I also have a body lotion and and hair glossing cream. The Philosophy Snow Angel smells so good. It’s a fresh floral scent and is actually really nice for spring. I received it before Christmas and I haven’t used it up because it is thick and hard to squeeze out of the bottle. I need to leave it on it’s side to be able to use it.
The Oscar Blandi Glossing Cream smells amazing! I use it on wet hair to make it manageable and on dry hair for shine. I’ve had it for a while. It’s close to being finished.
The majority of the pan is skincare. These are the first three products I need to use up. The Ofra Peptide Cleanser is about half full, the H2O+ Waterbright moisturizer is about 3/4 full and I’m not sure about the Neocutis night cream. I’ve had these since last summer/fall so it’s time to use them up!
Here are the last three products! The eye hope is about half full. The Reclaim Botanical neck cream and the Perfectly Posh the ritual mask have both only been used a few times. I need to start using neck cream every day again and I need to give the mask a good try!
I will be doing the first update at the end of April. Wish me luck!
Are you doing a Project Pan this year? How’s it going?
My skin and hair are so dry right now! The weather in Kansas City has really been fluctuating. One day it’s 30 degrees F, and the next day its 60. It’s messing me up!
I received the following products for my honest review:
JUARA Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm ($20 USD) — This amazing smelling hand balm is really saving my chapped hands and cuticles! It contains Illipe Butter plus Coconut, Candlenut and Buriti Oils. These really hydrate and heal rough skin. I also love that this absorbs quickly..
Jason Calming Lavender Hand & Body Lotion ($5.60 on Amazon) — This is a rich, non-greasy lotion. I like to use it on my hands as well as my body because it instantly sinks in and I can work on my computer or phone right away! It contains a blend of Vitamin C & E and Kukui Nut Oil. It has a very light lavender scent which is very nice!

Flawless by Gabrielle Union Heat Protection Spray ($19 USD) — I air dry my hair, but use a straightening iron to style. My hair has been so dry this winter and hot styling doesn’t help! This product really reduces the damaging effects of this. This shields hair with a liquid barrier of thermal protection up to 450 degrees. Contains a blend of Argan, Avocado and Marula Oils, alongside naturally-derived Pea Protein, to increase elasticity and to prevent breakage. Once I spray it on, my flat iron glides through my hair and it looks hydrated and smooth. Yay!

I have been loving these products. Since I am getting tired (what a week!), I am going to feature more of my fave hydrating products in Part 2 on Sunday February 18th…stay tuned!
It was so cold in Kansas City last week, one day it was -5! But it has warmed up and was in the 40’s today. It felt balmy!
This week I have been loving a French no-rinse cleanser and products to help my hair stay smooth in the cold winter air:
Collosol Eau de Lait ($18 USD) — A moisturizing milk/micellar water hybrid, this thorough but gentle cleanser can be applied with a cotton pad to remove makeup, moisturize and soothe stinging skin. No rinsing with water is required—a good thing since the limestone in tap water can be irritating to parched, wind-shipped skin. The universal formula is also suited to all skin types, from sensitive to dry to oily/acne-prone.
What I think: First, this is really fragrant. It’s floral like gardenias or jasmine, I can’t put my finger on the scent. It’s nice, though. It’s a milky liquid, and I apply with to a cotton pad. IT removes makeup very well and leaves my face so soft. You can also add it to bath water to soften skin. I haven’t tried it yet, but I might tomorrow after my workout.
A French skincare classic created in Paris in the 1950s, Collosol Eau de Lait can now be found in the U.S. at smallflower.com
John Frieda Hair Care Frizz Ease Collection($6.99 each) — Check out the newstatement making look for John Frieda Hair Care’s classic Frizz Ease collection. The iconic purple that has accented the products for years will now be the primary focus, making this collection of frizz-fighters bolder and brighter than ever. My favorites from the collection are:
Secret Weapon Touch-Up Crème (3rd from left in photo) — This versatile smoothing cream, applied to dry strands, instantly transforms puffy, parched style. Creates a supple, shiny finish and silky touch. For use on flyaways, static frizz, and split ends. This is perfect for the cold weather, my hair gets flyaways and this smooths them right out.
Air Dry Waves Styling Foam (4th from left) — Get defined curls without the need for heated styling tools. Infused with moringa oil and a unique blend of polymers, this featherweight curly hair styler helps control frizz for perfectly smooth waves and curls. Non-sticky foam dries quickly, creating a flexible film that cleverly stretches as curl bundles expand while drying, keeping the curl intact. My hair dries wavy, so I love to use this to define my curls while my hair dries.
Extra Strength 6 Effects+ Serum (2nd from right) — Expertly formulated with a unique blend of silicones. Protect each dehydrated strand against the onset of frizz. Boosts shine. With silk proteins and algae extract, this frizzy hair serum smoothes for more manageable and lustrous results, and provides heat protection. I apply this to soaking wet hair everywhere but my roots. When my hair dries, its soft and smooth.

It’s almost Fall! Yay! Time to get a new ‘do. At least that’s what I like to do, change up my look for the new season. If I don’t want or need a new haircut, I like to change up the styling of my hair.
I have been sent new tools and products to test out for my honest opinion. They include styling tools and products to hydrate hair and get it ready for styling:
Tourmaline Ionic Technology for frizz-free texture and massive shine
2 Heats/Speeds for styling flexibility
Cold shot button to set the style
What I think: This is such an easy way to get curls or texture in your hair! Just run the diffuser through hair while drying and you get volume and piecey curls or texture. My hair is wavy, and this amps it up! It is curlier and has tons more volume after use. And for girls with curly hair, this cuts the frizz and defines curls.
Bed Head Line Up Electric Mini Ceramic Travel Straightener ($19.99 at Target) Recharge your mane with serious shine and a boost of attitude with this easy-to-use, no fuzz straightener. Don’t let its portable size fool you, though– the 1″ ceramic plates give you seriously straight, extra shiny and frizz-free hair that lasts. It is perfect for on-the-go touch-ups and comes in a clear travel pouch.
What I think: This is tiny! It’s really cute (I have it in Electric Green). Even though it is so small, it works very well to straighten and smooth hair. This is so nice to help battle what humidity does to my hair and it keeps it looking nice. It has a bag that you can carry it in and stick in your purse. This is also great for the college student who doesn’t have a lot of room, or for travels.
Infusium Repair + Renew Original Leave-In Treatment ($7.96 USD at Walmart) — The drugstore essential is perfect for repairing summer-damaged hair. This fast, convenient spray protects and maintains hair health. The Infusium Repair + Renew Leave-in Treatment helps repair two years of damage in just one use! It is infused with Argan Oil and Keratin to help build strength and elasticity, and promote smoothness.
What I think: This is a quick and easy way to really treat and repair hair. Just spritz it on wet or damp hair and it dries soft and shiny! This also helps with frizzies. It has a soft, fresh scent. I love how affordable it is, too.
Marc Anthony Curl Envy Deep Hydrating Mask ($7.99 USD) — Blended with Vitamin E, Avocado Oil and 100% pure Shea Butter, this ultra-rich mask by Marc Anthony treats extra dry, damaged, frizzy curls with moisture to create soft, smooth, defined curls with shine. Helps to reduce split-ends and breakage.
What I think: I’m a fan of a good hair mask! This one is a bit heavy for my fine, wavy hair. But, I think it would be great for girls and guys with thick hair or curls. It does have a strong lemon/lime soda scent. It’s not my favorite, but it’s not offensive. I do love the natural ingredients in it.
Has the crazy winter damaged your hair? Winter is almost over (I hope it is, it’s actually snowing in Kansas City today), so its time to tame your dry hair and get it ready for spring and summer!
A good way to make your hair soft and shiny is with ECRU New York Silk Nourishing Spray ($24.00 USD). This is a very light leave-in conditioning mist that instantly detangles hair while providing hydration. The spray contains aloe Vera, silk proteins and B5 to penetrate to restore moisture and repair split ends. UV inhibitors help prevent sun damage and thermal abuse.
What I think: I really like this spray. I use it as an extra barrier against my heated styling tools. It really makes my hair soft and smooth. Plus my 14-year-old daughter loves using it too. She abuses her hair with a straight iron every day, and the Nourishing Spray is helping her hair get back in shape and it looks much healthier!

They are safe for color and chemical treated hair and have sunscreens and vitamins. Extracts of lavender, chamomile and soapwart gently clean and lavender, chamomile, geranium and Aloe Vera condition hair.

ApHogee is a product line that was developed as a serious approach to hair care. The website states, “it has been proven that superior results require healthy hair with structural integrity and a proper balance of strength, elasticity, and smoothness. This is why ApHogee products include our exclusive PropHytamine Complex which utilizes precise levels of proteins, emollients, and humectants to achieve and maintain healthy hair.”
The cool thing about this line is that it can be used on all types and textures of hair including color-treated, permed and relaxed. It is touted to help in the treatment of severe hair damage, and the correction of dryness, dullness, brittleness, limpness, splitting, and frizz. Two of my favorite ApHogee products are.
Shampoo for Damaged Hair ($7.99) — This rich, luxurious shampoo was created to clean gently and to not harm color, perm or relaxer services. It contains proteins, emollients and vitamins to restore sheen and pliability to hair and can be used safely everyday on chemically treated hair. My hair gets so frizzy in the summer and I see an immediate difference after I use this shampoo. It instantly makes my hair soft and flowy. And it smells very refreshing and a bit citrusy.
Gloss Therapy Hair Polish — ($8.99) — This is a great, non-greasy hair gloss. Use a dime size on towel dried hair if it is fine, and apply more for coarser, thicker hair. It smooths, detangles and fixes split ends. Plus it shields hair against UV damage and frizz while brightening highlights.
Living Proof is a company started by MIT scientists who are setting out to tackle some of the difficult beauty problems of our time!
Their first product is No Frizz, a hair spray or cream that works on different textures of hair to fight the frizzies. It is available for straight or way hair that is fine to medium, medium to thick and thick to coarse.
I have been using the Straight Making No Frizz Styling Spray for Fine to Medium Hair ($14.00 1.7 oz, $24.00 3.4 oz). First of all, it smells fantastic! As per the instructions, I spray it on wet hair and then blow it dry. I was really excited to try this product, but it doesn’t really work for my hair. It is still frizzy. I watched the videos and followed the instructions, but my hair is still fairly frizzy.
Don’t get me wrong, it may work on other people. Sephora now carries No Frizz so my advice is to go to Sephora and spritz it on. It is supposed to smooth dry hair as well as wet. So try it out, it may be the product you are waiting for!
