Shop My Stash January 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

IMG_2781

Hi All!  Can you believe January is almost over?  I’m ready for spring, so I’m okay with it!

I started a monthly Shop My Stash this year. Here is the link to the post from the beginning of the month.  I go over each product with photos.  I also link if I have reviewed them in the past.

I really enjoyed this and tried to use all of these products at least a few times to see how much I like them.  It’s fun to focus on products since I have so many (especially Eye shadows).

The products this month were Urban Decay Born to Run Palette, Tartiest Pro Glow Palette. Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Palette, Pretty Vulgar Blush in Hush Blush and two BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in Cuddle Me (Rose) and Cozy Up (Mauve Nude).

I probably used the Born to Run palette the most, confirming why it was my favorite palette last year (see my 2018 faves here). My challenge was to use other shades than the bronzes.  And I did!  I tried the blues, gray and purple shades.  I’m not a fan of bright pink eyeshadow, but I think I used almost all of the shades.  The quality is gorgeous!

I also loved the You Had Me At Hello Palette. It’s a plummy, reddish brown sort of palette with a bunch of beautiful metallic shades. I did a few varied looks with this.

The tarte contour palette and the Pretty Vulgar blush weren’t my favorites. I decided to choose them because I got them both in subscription boxes this year and I never really used them.  The contour palette is a bit dark for me, both the contour and the highlighters.  My skin is so fair right now that they really don’t show up. The blush is very powdery and so pigmented.  It’s too bright for me.  I think I am going to hold on to them and try them again in the summer.  Or I might just give them away to my daughter!

Th Buxom PillowPouts are really nice.  They are creamy, but are matte when applied.  I like to wear lip glosses over them. I’ll continue using them!

I also am going to include any empties in this post each month:

IMG_2899.JPG

This month I only had three — The Robin McGraw Revelation Live Life Lifted Neck Cream, Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Leave in Mask, and Philosophy Purity Made Simple Eye Gel. I’ve been using the skincare since early fall and I got the Briogeo in a subscription box a few months ago.  I use neck cream morning and night (and eye cream, too).  This neck cream really firmed up my neck area, and the eye cream was super hydrating.  I definitely recommend them both.  I like the hair mask, but I just got the Briogeo Rosarco one and I like that one a bit better.  If you over use this one, hair gets greasy.

So I have chosen my Shop My Stash products for February and will be revealing those soon.  I’m enjoying this series so far!  Stay tuned!

Shop My Stash — January 2019

Hey all!  I hope your 2019 has started off well!

This year I’m trying something new (again). Last year I did four quarterly Project Pans.  This was the first time I’ve tried this and I learned a lot.  Especially that skincare is easy to use up if you use it everyday and makeup is not!  I have so much color cosmetics that i need to use.

So, this year, I am going to do a Shop My Stash each month. The products I’m going to choose will be color cosmetics that I have forgot about or just want to use more. I probably won’t use anything up, but I need to play with more products in my collection.

I’m not going to choose foundation, concealer or powders.  This year I’m going to try to just purchase what I need in base products when I run out.  It took me a long time to use them up in my pans last year.

Here are the products I will be focusing on in January:

IMG_2781I’ve chosen two eyeshadow palettes, a sculpting palette, a blush and two shades of the same lip product. Here’s a close up of each product.  If I’ve reviewed them before, I’ll include the link.

img_2782img_2783 Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette —  This was in my favorites of the year.  I think it’s the prettiest and most color diverse palette that I bought in 2018.  I purchased this in the summer and used it a lot when I first got it, but I haven’t really used it much since.

I usually do a bronzey look with this palette and want to experiment with the blues, greens, purples and pinks!

img_2784img_2786

ColourPop You Had Me At Hello —  This is such a pretty plummy-neutral palette.  I got it last year around this time and used it, and then put it away.  It’s time to give it some love.

I want to experiment with some of the gorgeous metallics and shimmers. I think it will compliment the Born to Run palette, too, if I want to use shades out of both for one use.

img_2789img_2793

tarte tarteist™ PRO glow highlight & contour palette —  I received this in a FabFitFun box this summer.  I used it a couple of times, but I haven’t really given it a fair chance.

I love the sculpt shade and some of the lighter highlighters.  I think I will get good use out of this!

img_2787img_2788Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush Powder Blush in Hush Blush — I received this in my March 2018 BoxyCharm.  It’s such a pigmented blush that I never really used it.  I like sheerer, glowy blushes in the spring and summer.  I think it will give my some much needed color in the winter.  If I really don’t like it, I’ll pass it on at the end of the month.

img_2794img_2795img_2796

BUXOM Cosmetics PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in Cuddle Me (Rose) and Cozy Up (Mauve Nude). I should have swatched these, but they are pretty similar in  color.  I reviewed the entire collection this summer and really liked them.  I’ve been using up glosses in my last Project Pan, so I haven’t been using these. I will probably wear them alone and with a gloss over them.

So there’s the items I am going to try to use this month.  I will be posting an update on how it went.  I will probably included it when I post my February Shop My Stash so stay tuned!

Have you done a Shop My Stash before? How did it go?

Project Pan October-December 2018 Final

IMG_2764

Hey all!  Happy New Year’s Eve! This is my last Project Pan of the year!  And it was successful!  I used up all of the products above.

You can check my other posts on this pan.  The first one is here and my update is here.  I only did one update on this one.

If you look at the photos on the other posts, you can see that they are a little different.  I couldn’t find the bottle of my Pixi Retinol Tonic.  I did use it all up!  And I added the Maybelline Fit Me powder.  I had it in my second Project Pan of the year and finally used it up.  I’m so proud, so I thought I would show it!

I’ve currently moved on to other makeup and skincare. If I did need more products, I would repurchase the Flower Beauty concealer, the Fit Me powder, both Pixi products and the amazing Derma E cleanser!

This year was my first time doing a Project Pan in my many years of blogging.  I have learned that it takes a loooong time to use up makeup!  I used the three LORAC glosses every day, multiple times a day and it took me three months to use them up.  The powder took forever, and the concealers also took a fairly long time.

So, I have decided not to continue with Project Pan’s next year, at least not for a few months.  I think since I have so much makeup (and it will take forever to use up), I’m going to post a monthly Shop My Stash.  I think I’ll choose 5 makeup items each month that I am going to incorporate into my makeup routine and see how much use I get out of them.

Did you do a Project Pan in 2018?  How did it go?

Project Pan October-December 2018: First Update

IMG_2456

Hi all!  I’m back with my first  update on my last Project Pan of 2018.  You can see my first post here.

I’m attempting to use up 5 skincare and 5 makeup items.  And it’s going pretty well.  I haven’t used up anything yet, but I am getting close!

IMG_2458

I just have a little bit left of my Pixi products.  I should use them up in a couple of weeks.  Same with the Talika Eye Dream.  This is almost gone. The Derma E cleanser is still going strong.  I’ve been using this for a while and it is really lasting!  The Yes to Cotton mask is the only thing that’s taking me a while to use.  I keep forgetting about it!  But I did use it 4 times last month.  I want to try applying it twice a week from now on.  We’ll see how it goes!

I do really like all of these products.  They all help my skin look smoother and clearer.  I’ll let you know if ‘m going to repurchase when I use them up.

IMG_2457.JPG

My makeup pan is going okay.  I think the Flower Beauty concealer is almost used up. It’s taking a few dips in to get enough concealer to apply. I’ve been concentrating on the concealer, but have used the Colourpop one a few times.

I’ve been wearing one or a combo of the lip glosses every day in October.  I don’t know if you can see from the photo, but it looks like the lightest one is separating on the bottom. I might have to stop using that one.  If I don’t use them all up by the end of the year, I’m going to toss them.  They are over a year old and it’s either use them up or throw them away!

I think I should get through most of these products.  I think the interesting thing I’ve learned so far this year is that I have way more makeup than I will use up!  I’ll talk more about that at my end of year round up.

Have you done a Project Pan this year?  What are you learning from it?

Project Pan October-December 2018

img_2202.jpg

I’m back with my final Project Pan of the year!  I’m pretty proud that I’ve done three so far!

As you can see from the photo above, I have 5 makeup items this time and 5 skincare products. This is the most makeup products I’ve had in a pan so far.  Hopefully I’ll get through them all! Here are the products I’ve chosen:

img_2205.jpg

These are the LORAC Mod Lip Gloss from the Beauty and the Beast Collection that launched last year.  These shades are Savoir Faire (nude peachy rose), True Beauty (pale mauve) and Belle-ieve (nude).  I’ve had these for abut a year, so they are at the end of their life span!  They are very hydrating (not sticky at all) and are so pretty alone or over a lipstick.

I’ve recently purchased and received a bunch of lip glosses, so I need to use these up.  I would say they are about half or 3/4 used up, so hopefully I can get through all three by the end of the year.  I am trying to use them every day, and even multiple times a day since they are so hydrating.

img_2206.jpg

Here are swatches of the glosses — Savoir Faire, True Beauty, and Belle-ieve. I love all three shades!

IMG_2207

I am trying to pan two concealers. The top one is Colourpop No Filter Conealer in Light 12 and Flower Beauty Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer in Light.  I’m trying to use up my concealers, because there are so many new concealers that have been released that I want to try. But I don’t want to buy any until I use up a few!

These are both nice, here are swatches:

IMG_2208.JPG

The left is the Flower Beauty one and the right is the Colourpop.  The Flower Beauty concealer is more moisturizing and the Colourpop is more matte.  They are both really nice and I eventually might buy them both again.  I actually have a back up of the Flower Beauty one, but it’s in a different shade, I think Fair.  Which will work out in the winter when I am paler.

I think the Flower Beauty once is only about a 3rd full and the Colourpop Concealer is about half full.

img_2210.jpg

Now on to the skincare!  Left to right is Derma-E Firming DMAE Cleanser, Yes to Cotton anti-pollution Oxygenated Facial Mask, and the Talika Eye Dream.

The Derma-E cleanser is so nice.  It cleans without drying and leaves my skin soft and firm!  It’s about half full.  The Yes to Cotton mask is almost full, so I need to use it a few times a week to empty it by the end of the year.  I just have so many masks I need to start using. The Talika eye cream is hydrating without being greasy.  It’s about half for 3/4 full.

IMG_2211Last but not least are these products by Pixi Beauty.  The Retinol tonic is over half full and the wonderful Rose Glow Mist is under half full.  I have lots of mists and need to use some up!

So that’s my 4th and last Project Pan of the year! I’ll be doing updates and hopefully I will use it all up!

I’m still deciding if I’ll do this again next year…we’ll see!

May 2018 Beauty Favorites

IMG_1221

May has flown by!  It was a busy month, and I am looking forward to lazy summer months!  June is my birthday month, and it’s a big one (drumroll please) … the big 5 0!

That is crazy to think about, but I’m looking forward to a new decade to explore!  My birthday is June 10th, and this weekend I think I’m going to do a birthday beauty wish list.  No one buys me makeup, but it won’t hurt to put it out there!  Maybe I’ll buy mystelf something nice.

On to my May faves! This month, I have loved the following gorgeous makeup:

Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation ($13.99 USD) —  This foundation is medium coverage, which is what I like!  I mix two shades Ivory L2 and Nude L3 for my perfect shade. It feels very weightless on and gives me a natural finish.  I wouldn’t say its dewy or matte, just looks like my skin, but way better!

Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume Mascara ($8.99 USD) — I received this in a gift with purchase at Ulta.  I haven’t used it in years, and realized how great it still is! I usually go for lengthening mascara, but this one gives me length as well as the promised volume.  And it doesn’t flake or smear!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette ($42 USD)  — A day to night palette with fourteen shades, including essential mattes and glam shimmers. I just bought this a couple of weeks ago, and it is really growing on me.  I seem to be doing the same look over and over with it, which isn’t like me at all! But, I’m hoping to try more looks and hopefully I will find it more versatile than I think it is!  I will be reviewing this very soon (plus the Too Faced Life’s A Festival Eye Shadow Palette I keep saying I’m going to review!).
ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip in Love Bite (pinky nude) and Ultra Glossy Lip in Just Surfed
(warm beige gloss drenched in silver and pink glitter) $6 each.  These are from the ColourPop and Eva Gutowski collaboration. I can’t wear matte lipstick alone because my lips get to dry, but with a gloss over it, I love them!  This looks gorgeous together and lasts for hours!  I need to pick up more Ultra Blotted and Glossy Lips stat!

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer ($14.99 USD) —  I bought this a couple of months ago after giving into the hype, and I’m so glad I did!  At first, the scent was a little strong for me, but I am used to it now.  The color is gorgeous and applies so smoothly on.  It’s the only bronzer I am currently using.

What are you loving this month?  Anything new and fun, or something that you have rediscovered?

April 2018 Beauty Favorites

IMG_0944.JPG

It’s almost May!  This is going to be a busy month for my family. Besides Mother’s Day, we are still in lacrosse season for my youngest daughter and my middle daughter is graduating from high school!

I tried a lot of great new makeup in April.  Above our my favorites, and below you can see the shades:

IMG_0947

I purchased the Too Faced Life’s A Festival Eye Shadow Palette and the Better Than Sex Mascara during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale.  The palette was not on sale (but I really wanted it), but the mascara was.  I love them both!  I still have to do a review of the palette.  I’m hoping to post that this weekend.

The gorgeous nude lipsticks are the Lipstick  Queen Nothing But the Nudes Collection.  They are The Truth, a pink nude, The Whole Truth, a peach nude.  There is also Nothing But the Truth, a beige nude.  It’s a bit darker, so I’m saving it for the summer when I faux tan.  These are creamy and so gorgeous on!

The last makeup items is from the ColourPop x Eva Gutowski collab.  It’s the Mermaid Glow Pressed Powder Face Duo.  The shades are:

Golden Hour: matte blush; neutral peach
Ethereal: pearlized highlighter; soft golden champagne

I would think this would be better for a bit darker tones than my light-toned skin But it looks so pretty on.  I love the blush and the highlighter is a soft color that can be built up to blind!

The Merle Norman Skintelligent Cleanser is exfoliating.  It has little beads in it that give a vigorous scrub! It instantly makes my pores look smaller.

The last thing is my Real Techniques Brush Crush 300 Powder Brush.  I’ve had this for a few months and love it so much.  Its so pretty and soft.  It makes me happy just to use it.

What products were your faves this month?

Eva Gutowski + ColourPop Collab Review!

IMG_0800

I have a ColourPop haul and review to share.  I just realized that the lip trio’s box is upside down.  Oopsies!  I have other photos that I will add below that hopefully won’t be as crazy!

I placed a ColourPop order a few weeks ago for items from the Eva Gutowski collaboration, plus a No Filter Concealer.  The were selling a bundle with the cheek duo, lip trio and one of the eye shadow quads for $35. I think I had a 20% off coupon and paid about $32 for everything including the concealer (+free shipping).

There, that’s a better photo!  This is the She’s a Beach Babe Lip Bundle.  It includes one Ulta Glossy Lip in Just Surfed (warm beige gloss drenched in silver and pink glitter) and two Ultra Blotted lips — Love Bite (soft pinky nude) and Party Wave (soft terracotta).

I love all of these colors.  I like lighter lip colors, and these are perfect for me.  This is the first time I’ve tried their Ulta Blotted formula.  I like it.  I’m not much of a matte lip girl, but the colors are really fresh, and the glossy lip is a good topcoat that helps with moisture.

This pretty palette is the Mermaid Glow Pressed Powder Face Duo.  I have lots of ColourPop eye shadow palettes, which have cardboard packaging without mirrors, so I was excited to see this is plastic and has a mirror!  It’s so cute and is great to pop in my purse.  I love having a mirror for on the go.

I think these shades may be better suited for a little deeper skin tones than mine (light).  but I do really like them.  The blush is a matte peach, and the highlighter is a soft golden champagne. So pretty! I think it will look amazing when I get my faux tan on this summee. (I have swatches of everything below).

IMG_0806IMG_0807There were two choices of eye shadows (two different bundles).  I chose the one with the cool toned palette Vacation Mode Pressed Powder Shadow Palette.  There is also a warm toned palette called It’s All Wild. That has orange and brown mattes and a copper gold metallic.  I have tons of orange and brown ColourPop shadows and I wanted to try a cooler toned palette.  And these colors are so pretty.  They are creamy powders that blend really well!

On to the swatches:IMG_0808

On the left is the concealer.  I will review that below.  Then the lip colors, blush and highlighter and eye quad colors.  Here’s close ups:

IMG_0809IMG_0810None of the powder products swatched very well on my arm, but they are pigmented on my face.

This bundle is not available any more, but you can purchase that products separately.

img_0801.jpg

Last but not least, I did finally purchase the ColourPop No Filter Concealer.  The claim on this is, “Our lightweight, creamy concealer was formulated with soft blurring pigments to give you a creaseproof, matte finish. No filter needed.”

They have added a lot and renamed most of their concealers.  When I ordered it, it was called Fair Neutral 10, when I received it, it was called Light 12.  The shade is pretty good.  I might need one shade lighter.

I’ve used this a few times and I like it okay.  It does have a matte finish and it covers well.  I think I need to use it more, though, because it hasn’t left much of an impression on me. I’m not a fan of the applicator.  It’s kind of flat and scratchy.  I don’t know…meh.

I do love ColourPop as a brand.  Their products are mostly gorgeous and so affordable for the quality.

Have you tried any of these products?  What do you think?  And, what’s your current fave ColourPop product?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — April 2018

img_0860.jpg

My April BoxyCharm finally arrived.  It was supposed to be here last week, but stopped moving on Friday.  I got it yesterday and I was so happy!

Boxycharm is just $21 a month for 5-6 beauty items, most of them full-sized.

Here is what I received:

IMG_0859

I am so happy with this box — even though I will probably only use two or three of the items.  Spoilers were released saying that we would get 1 of 5 variations of the ColourPop palette.  I have 3 of the 5 that were shown, so I thought for sure I would receive one I had, but I got a new one (to me)!  And I really wanted the Element of Surprise!
Lets start with that:

IMG_0863IMG_0864IMG_0865IMG_0866

First of all, I love the color purple.  The packaging on this is stunning! This is a pretty neutral palette with a couple of pops of color and a couple of shimmers/glitters. I think this will be amazing for all seasons.  I will do a palette review of this sometime — I’ll just add it to the pile of palettes I need to review!

img_0862.jpgThis is the other item I was really excited about.  I’ve used them once and like them okay,  they are a little larger than the blending and shadow brushes I usually use. I need to play with them more.  They are beautiful!  I love the colors and the little gems.  The brushes are P15, eyes shadow brush (pink) and the L34 Blend Beauty (purple).  The handles also say BoxyCharm, so they must be a collaboration.

img_0867.jpg I’m not sure about this.  I do have larger pores, but I think its due to aging.  And my pores are always larger during allergy season, so I don’t know if I want to mess with them.  We’ll see.  I might sell this on eBay.

img_0868.jpg This brand gets really good reviews.  But I can’t use this.  My brows are so dark their almost black.  I will pass it on to my daughter who is blond.  She will love it!

IMG_0869

I have no idea what to do with this!  I found out a couple of months ago that we were getting MAC in a future box and I was so excited.  The issue is that I wear nude or light pink lip colors.  Plus, I don’t know who I could give this to — I don’t have any friends wh like Gothic purple lips!  Lol!  I’m sure someone could rock this, so I might sell it on eBay.

Next month the spoiler brands are Pretty Vulgar, Cover FX and Pur Cosmetics.  I like all of those brands.  The Pretty Vulgar is a pot of cream or gel eyeliner.  It’s super cute packaging.  I haven’t heard of the others yet, so we’ll see.  I think I’ll stay with BoxyCharm at least one more month.  Honestly, even thought it’s always an amazing value, I only use one or two of the products I get each month.

Do you subscribe to BoxyCharm?  What palette did you get this month?

Colourpop My Little Pony Pressed Powder Shadow Palette Review

img_0013.jpg

Colourpop My Little Pony Palette Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16 USD) — This is my last  Colourpop eye shadow palette from my after holiday sale haul.  I have to be honest, I think I may have purchased this for the packaging!  It’s so fun.  Also, my daughter Abby was obsessed with the OG My Little Pony’s from ages 3-6.  Since she is graduating from high school this year, I’m a little nostalgic…

IMG_0236

I usually wear neutral colors on my eyes, but these are so pretty!

IMG_0247

The shades from left to right are:

Butterscotch: white with subtle pink violet opalescent sheen
Blossom: metallic peach with pink and gold duochrome finish
Starshine: metallic golden tangerine
Bluebell: satin golden ivory
Applejack: matte dusty red violet
Skydancer: metallic bright icy lavender
Minty: matte cool-toned fuchsia
Flutterbye: matte true pastel peach
Twilight: satin deep blackened violet
Firefly: metallic silvery baby blue
Snuzzle: metallic icy white with opalescent blue duochrome
Princess Sparkle: metallic rich smokey turquoise

Here are my swatches

IMG_0240

IMG_0243

IMG_0242

These shadows are pretty well pigmented.  A few, like the lavender, need to be built up. I think a fun thing about this palette is that there are warm and cool shades.  I was worried that a complete look couldn’t be made with just this crazy palette. It can, but it’s a very colorful look. I’m actually surprised by how much I like it!

This is not my everyday palette, but it will be nice for spring looks and fun occasions.  Like all of the Colourpop palettes I’ve tried, it’s great quality and affordable.

What’s an eye shadow palette that you bought and were surprised by?
