Too Faced Life’s a Festival Review

IMG_1271.JPG

I purchased the Too Faced Life’s A Festival Eye Shadow Palette ($42 USD) a few months ago and still haven’t reviewed it, so I thought I would review it since I’m wearing it today on my birthday!

So, as I am 50 today, I can say that even us (uh, hum) older ladies can wear fun shadows like these!

IMG_1269.JPG

As soon as I saw this I thought it was so pretty and had to have it.  I loved the shade range.  When I got it, I noticed that it smells so good, like citrus or candy (Smarties)!

Here are swatches:

IMG_1264

From left to right is Young & Free, Euphoric, Rainbow Life, Desert Vibes, Sunset Dram Fun in the Sun and Beamin’

IMG_1273

Unicorn Tears, Fireflies, Mystic Rain, Funtasy, Artist Pass and Dusk Teal Dawn.

The duochromes and shimmers are my favorite shades in the palette.  There are only a couple mattes.  I wish there were more, but only if they could be added to the palette without any of the shiny stuff taken away!

Every shade blends well and are very pigmented.  I use the shimmers and duochromes with a dry brush, and they look great.  They can be wet with a little setting spray, but don’t really need it.

What do you think of this?  Are you all about shimmery shadows or are you more about the mattes?

Maybelline New York Lemonade Craze Palette

IMG_0909

I love eye shadow palettes and also love reviewing them, too! I received the fun new Maybelline New York Lemonade Craze Palette for my honest review.  I was so excited, because I really wanted to try it!

I want to show you the back of the palette.  There are three different look tutorials:

img_0910.jpg

I have been testing this for about a week, and have been using the same shades each time.  So these were helpful in giving me new ideas!

IMG_0913 Here is the beautiful palette before I dug into it!

Here’s the swatches:

IMG_0921 These swatches are of the top half of the palette.  The shades are Sherbet, Berry Ice, Strawberry Lemonade, Sunnies, Lemonade Craze and Main Squeeze. My favorite shade in the palette is Strawberry Lemonade.  It’s so gorgeous and shimmery.  I love the color.  And I want to apply it every time I use this palette!

I first swatched these on my inner arm, but they didn’t show up because I’m so pale!  So I swatched these on the top of my arm and the next ones on the inner arm:

IMG_0918

These shades are Citrus, Ice Pop, Old Fashioned, Coral Punch, Sugar Coated and Sweet Tea.  These are perfect for adding color to the look!

So now to the formula.  The shades are gorgeous, but the formula isn’t the best.  There is a lot of kickback in the pan, but luckily I don’t get a lot of fallout on my eye.  It does take a few layers to get a pigmented look.  And the shimmers work best when wet.  I use a little Mac Fix+.

I am going to keep playing with this because I really love the shades and think it will be so gorgeous for spring and summer.  Plus, the palette has a light citrus scent and I love that!

The Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette is available now on Amazon at a suggested retail price of $13.99.  It is listed at $10.99 right now, so if you want it, that’s a great price!

Do you have this palette or are you going to pick it up?

Colourpop My Little Pony Pressed Powder Shadow Palette Review

img_0013.jpg

Colourpop My Little Pony Palette Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16 USD) — This is my last  Colourpop eye shadow palette from my after holiday sale haul.  I have to be honest, I think I may have purchased this for the packaging!  It’s so fun.  Also, my daughter Abby was obsessed with the OG My Little Pony’s from ages 3-6.  Since she is graduating from high school this year, I’m a little nostalgic…

IMG_0236

I usually wear neutral colors on my eyes, but these are so pretty!

IMG_0247

The shades from left to right are:

Butterscotch: white with subtle pink violet opalescent sheen
Blossom: metallic peach with pink and gold duochrome finish
Starshine: metallic golden tangerine
Bluebell: satin golden ivory
Applejack: matte dusty red violet
Skydancer: metallic bright icy lavender
Minty: matte cool-toned fuchsia
Flutterbye: matte true pastel peach
Twilight: satin deep blackened violet
Firefly: metallic silvery baby blue
Snuzzle: metallic icy white with opalescent blue duochrome
Princess Sparkle: metallic rich smokey turquoise

Here are my swatches

IMG_0243

IMG_0242

These shadows are pretty well pigmented.  A few, like the lavender, need to be built up. I think a fun thing about this palette is that there are warm and cool shades.  I was worried that a complete look couldn’t be made with just this crazy palette. It can, but it’s a very colorful look. I’m actually surprised by how much I like it!

This is not my everyday palette, but it will be nice for spring looks and fun occasions.  Like all of the Colourpop palettes I’ve tried, it’s great quality and affordable.

What’s an eye shadow palette that you bought and were surprised by?

Ulta Beauty Mini Haul

IMG_0310

Hi all!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I went to Ulta on Saturday because my 20% off coupon was expiring (and I love my sales)!

I just purchased a few things.  The main thing I went in for is the sponge, but I have been eyeing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette.

I purchased:

IMG_0312

IMG_0313

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge ($5.99) — I purchased this because I just got a new Becca foundation (review coming), and it’s quick-drying and a bit dark/warm for me.  Applying it with my brushes doesn’t really work, but I think the sponge may help give a more natural look.  I have used a beautyblender, but haven’t had one for a while.  This is my first time trying another brand of sponge.  I like that this has a flat edge, I think it will be great for blending around the eyes and the nose.  I’m looking forward to trying this.

img_0315.jpg

My family loves bath bombs and fizzes, so I’ve been wanting to pick up a few of these. They retail for 3 for $5, and the Fig & Honey one was on clearance, that’s why I picked up four.  I just tried the Fig & Honey fizz.  It is very fizzy and very fragrant.  It’s small, but really fun and worth the price!

img_0321.jpg

Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Eyeshadow Palette — I have been thinking about this palette since it first came out.  It’s on sale for  $32 (down from $42) and I had the $20 off coupon on top of that!  I got it for $25.61 before tax.  So exciting!

I think the colors of this are so different and fun!  There are lots of metallics too, which I love.  I’ll be doing a full review of this after I play with it a while.

Have you purchased anything fun lately?

ColourPop I Think I Love You Palette Review

IMG_0009IMG_0196

This photo cracks me up!  The palette cover is so reflective that it shows my phone!  This is the very shiny ColourPop I Think I Love You eye shadow palette ($16 USD).  I received it in a big ColourPop Haul I did at the end of December.  It’s actually my 18 year old daughter’s.  She let me swatch and review it (I did pay for it)!

img_0011.jpg

These are the shade names, and here are the colors:

img_0010.jpgIMG_0203

Bitter Better: metallic soft gold
Bel Air: matte cool taupe
Fancy Face: metallic bright red copper
Girls Bite: metallic golden bronze
Howdy: metallic red bronze
Rowdy: matte warm ivory
My Treat: metallic champagne ivory
Level Up: metallic bright penny copper
Screw It: metallic soft rose gold
Let’s Do It: matte true black
Rule Breaker: metallic bright yellow gold
My Type: matte deep saddle brown

IMG_0199

img_0205.jpg

img_0206.jpg

The colors all swatched really well and are gorgeous!  My daughter wanted it for the metallic yellow gold color, but I lie the beautiful bronzes and lighter, shimmery colors.  I wouldn’t have picked this myself, but I love it (and will be borrowing it).  I can make gorgeous day and night looks with this!

Do you have any ColourPop palettes?  Which ones are your favorites?

Karity 15 Nudes & Rudes Palette

IMG_0096

I received a Karity 15 Nudes & Rudes palette in the mail a couple of months ago.  I’m thinking that it was for my honest review, but I don’t know who sent it!

I am so happy that I received it, though!  The eye shadows are creamy and very well pigmented.  The palette is $25.  Which is pretty affordable for the quality.   I also received a Travel Chamber, which is like a Z-palette and holds 9 eye shadows.  And I received a colorful selection of single shadows.  I will be reviewing that next week.  I haven’t put it together yet, but I am looking forward to playing with it!

img_0104.jpg

This Nudes & Rudes palette consists of 15 highly pigmented shades in 6 finishes: 5 frost, 3 satin, 2 matte, 2 velvet, 2 metals, 1 duochrome  (Pixiedust on the bottom). It is cruelty free, vegan and paraben free.  There is also a 9 shade and a 21 shade Nudes & Rudes.
Every Nudes & Rudes palette has its own unique colors which just makes me want all of them!
This comes with a mirror, which makes me very happy!

IMG_0103

These are creamy shadows, especially the more shimmery shades.  Here are my swatches:
IMG_0108 From left to right — In the nude, Tiffanie, Tongue Tied, Butterscotch and Princess.
IMG_0118 Moonlight, Good Witch, Sunkissed, Decadence, Centaur
IMG_0121
Newborn, Pixiedust, Rockstar, Persephone, Dark Side.
I’m always more of a fan of the shimmery shades than mattes, but I do like to use mattes in my crease and sometimes on my lid. My favorites are probably Tiffanie, Good Witch and Pixiedust. In the nude is a great base shade and Moonlight is a gorgeous highlight.  The other shades add a really nice depth to whatever look I’m going for.
I was really impressed with this palette.  It may be nudes, but they are not safe or boring.  I guess that’s where the rudes come in!
Have you tried anything from Karity?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette Review

IMG_9988

I purchased this palette for myself on Christmas Eve.  Ulta had it on sale for $33 and it was 20% off on top of that. I know I’m probably the last blogger on earth to own this, but I just had to see what all of the hype was about!

IMG_9989

IMG_9990.JPG

This palette normally sell for $42 at Ulta and other beauty stores.  I first want to say I was looking forward to quality in the packaging as well as the shadows, and I wan’t let down.  It’s a heave palette.  I love the velvet dusty pink cover.   I also love that there is a mirror and brush included.  I also want to mention the formula.  It’s really pigmented and rich.  A little goes a long way.  There is kick up in the pan, but I was expecting that from reviews I have read about this brand.  It’s not too bad, though.

The shades are:

  • Tempera (velvety beige w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Golden Ochre (earthy yellow w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Vermeer (iridescent shell w/ a metallic finish)
  • Buon Fresco (antique lavender w/ an ultra- matte finish)
  • Antique Bronze (metallic sable w/ a satin finish)
  • Love Letter (raspberry w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Cyprus Umber (dark coffee w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Raw Sienna (neutral amber w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Burnt Orange (deep orange w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Primavera (shimmery gold dust w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Red Ochre (sienna w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Venetian Red (crimson w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Warm Taupe (earthy gray w/ an ultra-matte finish)
  • Realgar (brick w/ an ultra-matte finish)

Here are my swatches:

IMG_9995

This is the top row — Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, and Cyprus Umber.  Our of these, I love Tempera, to use as a base, Vermeer because it’s shimmery and perfect, and Buon Fresco because it’s so different.  I am still playing with all of these, so will probably have more faves soon!

IMG_9997 The bottom row is Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taup and Realgar.  Both Raw Sienna and Burnt Orange are gorgeous lid colors and Red Ochre is amazing in my crease.  I love Primavera because shimmers are my favorites and I used Warm Taupe on my lid today and it looked really warm and chocolatey!

I love the different tones in this.  I’m not the biggest fan of warm colors all the time, so I love that there are reds and a pretty lavender in this, plus the wonderful shimmers. There are so many looks that I can get out of this one palette.  I have a prediction that it may be my go-to palette in 2018.

Have you tried this palette?  What do you think?

My Little Pony: The Movie Collection Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches!

I recently received the PUR Cosmetics My Little Pony: The Movie Collection Eyeshadow Palette for my honest review.  I was excited to try it, because I thought the colors looked really fun.  I usually wear fairly neutral shadows, but I do like trying new palettes!

Here is the cover of the palette.

The inside of the palette with the cute pony protective cover on it. I overall like the packaging.  The outer box is so cute.  The palette is nice, but white will get dirty fast!  I love that there is a mirror inside!

And here are the shades.  They are from left to right starting with the top row:

KINDNESS (yellow with small pearl)                                                               FLUTTERSHY (soft pink with shimmer)                                                        GENEROSITY (matte mauve)                                                                                     RARITY (matte white)                                                                                          APPLEJACK (orange with shimmer)                                                                      HONESTY (brown)                                                                                                 LAUGHTER (sparkly mauve pink)                                                                               PINKIE PIE (hot pink matte)                                                                                 TWILIGHT SPARKLE (pinky purple shimmer)                                                              MAGIC (bright purple)                                                                                            RAINBOW DASH (royal blue with shimmer)                                                                 LOYALTY (dark green with shimmer)                                                                       TEMPEST SHADOW (matte bright red)                                                              SONGBIRD SERENADE (dark purple with shimmer)                                              STORM KING (silver with shimmer)                                                                    PRINCESS SKYSTAR (mint duochrome)

I think my favorite right now are Generosity, Rarity (a great base shade for me), Laughter and Princess Skystar.  Here are the swatches:

Kindness, Fluttershy, Generosity, Rarity, Applejack, Honesty, Laughter and Pinkie Pie

Twilight Sparkle, Magic, Rainbow Dash, Loyalty, Tempest Shadow, Songbird Serenade, Storm King, Princess Skystar

It’s funny, but the shades I love didn’t swatch well on my arm, but look great on my eyes! All of these are very well pigmented and don’t kick up in the pan.  There’s not much fall out either.

This retails for $29, which I think is a great price for the quality.  Purchase hereor at Ulta.com.

Have you tried this palette?  What do you think?

Finding Ferdinand’s Custom Overshadow Palette

I was so happy to receive a Finding Ferdinand Custom Overshadow Palette for my honest review!  I (like many beauty bloggers) love eye shadow palettes.  I am excited to be able to share this with you!

The Overshadow Palette holds 8 eye shadows.  You get to choose which 8 out of a selection of 60.  They come in a range of colors and textures.  You receive the palette, 8 shadows, a dual ended brush, and a sticker sheet for $60.

I didn’t choose my shadows, but I received a fun, summery mix:

I’m not sure what the names of my colors are, but they are all very pretty.  Here they are swatched:

They are all matte but the 2nd, 3rd and 5th color.  The shimmers have more pigment when swatched, but all of the colors can be built up for a stronger look.  The first four colors look very summery, but the last four will work well for fall, too.  Their is a bit of kick in the pan when I swirl my brush around, but it’s not too bad.

Here’s a look at the palette again:

The palette is magnetic and the eye shadows are easy to remove and replace.  The brush works well to apply them, it’s of nice quality.  And the mirror is large which I like!

I do recommend this for the customization.  You can make the perfect palette for you, so there isn’t any useless or filler shades.  It is spendy, but it’s good quality.

I’m interested in trying more Finding Ferdinand products and seeing what else they will come out with!  I also suggest checking out their Starter Kit 2.0.  It’s a lip palette with 22 pans of lip color and room to mix.  Once you find the combo that you like the most, you can submit it and redeem a code for a free custom lispstick.  So cool!  Purchase these, other palettes or custom-make a new lipstick at www.findingferdinand.com.

Have you tried Franz Ferdinand?  If so, let me know what you think!
