Shop My Stash — January 2020

IMG-2525

Hi all!  It’s time for my first Shop my Stash of 2020!

I’m always excited to play with new (again to me) color cosmetics that I either haven’t used in a while or haven’t used much at all! My goal is to get more use out of the products I have and to see if they are something I want to keep.

This month I have chosen two palettes that I have barely used and a blush, bronzer and lipstick that I just purchased in the Black Friday sales.  I usually don’t choose brand new (to me) products, but I really want to try these out.

Here are the palettes open:

IMG-2524

So many pretty shades to play with!  I have already used them today and loved playing with something I haven’t tried in a while.

Here are close ups of the products:IMG-2498

img-2497.jpg

Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit The Wants Palette— I purchased this in June of 2019 (on sale at Ulta), and I haven’t used it since summer.  Most of my palettes have less shades then this, so it’s a little intimidating when I open it.  I used it today and I kept adding different colors of shimmer on my lid (Cupcake, Top Story, Eve Rose and Pizzaz).  They do all work together, but I need to calm down and know that I can use some shades for other looks this month, lol!  Do you have that problem with larger palettes?

IMG-2499IMG-2500Urban Decay On The Run palette in Detour — This is such a pretty little palette. And the blues definitely give me winter vibes. I received this from Urban Decay in 2019 and am exited to play with it. The formula is gorgeous.

IMG-2502IMG-2503

Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush in Enchanted — This warm pink blush is so fresh and pretty on. It works so well with cool and warm looks. It’s a more matte blush, but that’s what I currently like.

IMG-2504

Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder in 01 Sun Light — I also love matte bronzers.  This one is new to me and very light.  But, I can build it up and it’s so soft and natural on.  This is perfect for the winter when I am more fair.

IMG-2505

I wear lipgloss more than lipstick, but I have bought a few lipsticks last year that I need to use.  This is the MAC Lipstick in the Cremesheen formula.  The shade is Creme in Your Coffee— a creamy mid-tone pink brown.  I love hydrating lip formulas and this one is very nice.  I’m looking forward to using it!

img-2507.jpg
Here are swatches of the bronzer, lipstick and blush.

I’m so exited for this month, and this year!  I’m hoping to use more of my stash, and purchase less.  I’m also doing a new series that I will be starting soon — I will be reviewing 20 of my palettes this year that I haven’t reviewed yet.  And I might do a Project Pan.  I’m still thinking about that.

Are you planning to use what you got this year — or is it spend, spend, spend (like I did last year)?  LOL!  Let me know!

Colourpop Black Friday Haul

Hi all! I did a little bit of shopping for myself during the Black Friday week. I have a couple of makeup hauls to share.

The first one is from Colourpop.  They had 30% off most of their site for about a week.  Here’s what I got:

IMG-2243

The Going Coconuts palette, the Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer in Fair 4N, the Super Shock Shadow in Flying Circus and the Pressed Powder Blush in Enchanted Mirror. Everything was on sale except for the Super Shock Shadow.  The shade was so pretty that I had to get it.  As always, you get free shipping with orders of $30 or more.

IMG-2245

Here are the palette, Super Shock Shadow and blush opened.  I am loving all of these shades!

IMG-2248

I picked this up because I saw a lot of reviews saying that it’s an amazing palette.  It’s really pretty.  I’ve used it a couple of times and like it okay.  I’m going to try it some more and review it.  I actually am going to do a palette review series in 2020.  I’m going to review my older palettes that I haven’t reviewed yet.  I think I’ll review 20.  That will be fun and this one will be included!

IMG-2311

I have also heard a lot of great things about this tinted moisturizer.  I’ve tried it a few times and I like it.  It doesn’t cover my redness well, so I only use it when my skin is good that day.  I need something with a higher coverage when my skin is red or has any issues.

But it does feel really nice on. I love hyaluronic acid!

IMG-2247

These are both so pretty!  I don’t use Super Shock shadows often, but this one was too pretty to pass up.  I love purple!  It wasn’t on sale, so it was $6,  which isn’t bad.  Colourpop is so reasonably priced.  Here are swatches:

IMG-2310

I love both of these shades!  The Super Shock is easy to apply with my fingers.  It makes any look more special.

The blush is so gorgeous!  It really brightens my pale skin.  So pretty for this time of year!

Did you buy any beauty products during the sales?  Do you purchase Colourpop?

Shop My Stash — December 2019

IMG-2209

Hi all!  It’s  time for my December Shop My Stash! I’m looking forward to the holidays.

I’m always excited to play with new (again to me) color cosmetics that I either haven’t used in a while or haven’t used much at all! My goal is to get more use out of the products I have and to see if they are something I want to keep.

This month I have chosen one palette that I have barely used, if at all.  And one palette that I used a lot last year at holiday time, but haven’t used much since. Plus a fairly new cheek palette and lipsticks that I haven’t played with in a few months.

Here are close ups of the products:

IMG-2213IMG-2214

The Urban Decay Elements Eyeshadow Palette was their holiday palette from last year. I got it last year for the holidays and used it a lot then.  But I haven’t really touched it since (I really have too many palettes).  I’ve already used the browns and purples, but I’ll didp in to the greens, golds and pinks for the holidays.  I don’t know about those blues…we’ll see!

IMG-2211IMG-2212

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette — I just realized that I never reviewed this palette.  I got it on sale earlier this year, I think.  And since it is no longer for sale, I can’t link it. I opened it up and realized how stunning it is!  Today I used Birch in the crease, Twig in the outer corner and under my eye, Rose Quartz on the lid and pearl in my inner corner.  So gorgeous!  I will be using this one a lot!  I might combine this with my Tati Beauty palette for a holiday look!

IMG-2215IMG-2216

This is the Ofra x Madison Miller Miller Squad Midi Palette.  I got this in my September Ipsy Glam Bag Plus.  It’s very pretty.

Here’s a swatch:

IMG-2217

The highlighters seem like they would be too dark for me, but they do work. The left one is a little more pink and the right one is little more peachy gold.   The blush is a pretty matte rosy pink. I think these shades will be perfect for the holidays.

IMG-2218

Sorry these are messy! They are the BAREPRO Longwear Lipsticks in Peony and Spicel  They go on very creamy, but dry down matte.  They are pretty on their own or with a gloss over them.  Here’s swatches: IMG-2220

They are pretty on their own or mixed together.  They also work nicely over a lip liner.

I’m really excited for this month!  I have already started using all of these and intend to use them as much as I can.  I do have two new palettes (hauls coming), but I will use these, too.

Next year I hope to shop less and use more of what I have.  And, I think I’m changing my Shop my Stash a bit.  I might add complexion products and make it every two months instead of monthly. What do you think?  Any other suggestions?  I’m up for a change.

Do you do a Shop My Stash?  How do you do it?

Shop My Stash November 2019 Results and Monthly Empties

Hi All!  I’m back with my November Shop My Stash results!  I enjoy dipping into my collection and using products I haven’t used in a long time, or just haven’t given much of a chance.

My rule with this is if I don’t like the item after the month, I will move it out of my collection to make some room and let someone else enjoy it! You can check out my first Shop My Stash post for November.

IMG-1857

I have been feeling much better this month, so I tried to wear makeup as much as possible in November.

I’m happy to say that I used all of these products a good amount.

I really enjoyed using the lip products.  The Becca lip gloss is so creamy and hydrating.  And, the color is a little out of my comfort zone, which is good.  I usually wear nudes. The Profusion lip pencil is a perfect match for the gloss!

Here’s photos with the  palettes open:

IMG-2207

I really have enjoyed this (and all of these palettes) more than I thought I would. I used the Terracotta and Desert bronzer/contour almost every day! I used all of the shadows at least once.  I think this is an essential neutral matte palette and I’ll be keeping it.

IMG-2202

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this palette.  Most of the shadows are shimmers. But, I did test it out and I like it!  It pairs really nicely with the tarte palette, or with another matte palette.  But, it can also be used alone.  One of the shimmers can be popped all over the lid.  I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out of this, so if I don’t use it at least a few times in the next few months, I’m giving it away.

IMG-2203

I really enjoy this highlighter formula!  I’ve been mixing Santorini and Azores, and it makes a really pretty shade for my fair skintone.  Ibiza is a nice blush topper for me.  I’ll keep it for now and see if I use it often.

On to my empties:

IMG-2208

I had a lot of empties this month!  There are three lip balm/masks.  My lips have been so dry.  Most of these products are skincare, as usual!  The makeup items are a  face primer, mascara primer and mascara.

I have a backup of the Laneige mask, the Pixi Vitamin-C lotion and have a Kopari Lip Glossy on it’s way to me.  I would also repurchase the Laneige lip balm in the tube.  I am also using a full size of the Thrive Causemetics mascara.  Thrive is now in some Ulta stores, so I’m happy that I can purchase it and get my points!  Hopefully it will be online soon!

That was a successful Shop My Stash!  I used everything and used up a lot of products!  I’m ready to use some makeup and skincare in December!  I’ll be posting my new Shop My Stash soon!

November 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hi all! I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving!    Can you believe the first of December is tomorrow?  The year is almost over!

Below are my beauty faves for November. As usual, If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

IMG-2194

I think this was the first time in months that I was loving more makeup than skincare!

Here’s the star of the month:

IMG-2197IMG-2198

The stunning Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Volume 1 palette.  I love this palette and have been enjoying it this month.  I definitely recommend this when it goes back in stock.  Plus, I’m excited for Tati’s next release whenever it comes out!

IMG-2199 I’m obsessed with all of these products!  For my makeup base each day, I use the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation in Rose Beige,  the Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer in No. 2 and the Urban Decay The Ultimate Brush Off Translucent Loose Setting Powder.

I love this combination!  They give a natural finish, which is my favorite! The foundation is gorgeous!  I will probably be reviewing that and the concealer soon.

The lipgloss is the Iconic London Lip Plumping Gloss in Nearly Nude. I received this in my October BoxyCharm and fell in love!  It’s lightly minty and plumping, but my favorite thing about it is the gorgeous nude shade.

I picked up the Benefit Cosmetics Precisely My Brow Pencil Ultra-Fine Shape & Define at the Ulta Faul 21 Days of Beauty Sale.  It’s such a popular product, but my first time trying it.  I have the shade 5, Warm Black Brown.  It might be a bit too dark for me, but I like it anyway!

IMG-2195

My favorite skincare this month are hydrating and refreshing!  On top is the Skinfood Peach Sake Toner.  It smells just like peaches and sake. I got this in the Ulta Fall Haul (the one with drugstore products on sale).  Yes, I shop at Ulta a lot!

The Innisfree Green Tea Seed Intensive Hydrating Serum is lovely!  I won it in a giveaway in September and have been using it ever since.  I still have a ton left because it’s a whopping 2.7 oz!  So much for a serum.  It’s light in texture and scent.

I just received the QMS Medicosmetics Intensive Eye Care Cream in my November BoxyCharm Premium. It’s very hydrating which is perfect because with this cold weather, my eyelids are dry.  So weird, but I really love this cream to hydrate them.

So let’s bring on December!  I’m trying not to shop as much (yes a couple of small Black Friday hauls are coming LOL), so I don’t know what my favorites will be for this month…but that’s fun!

What have you been loving lately?

Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Review and More!

Hi all!  I have been testing out some new Urban Decay products that were sent for my honest review!

I love Urban Decay (I have also just purchased the Urban Decay Naked Honey palette and will be reviewing it next week).  Their products are innovative and cruelty free, and the ingredients are good for you! Here’s what I received:

IMG-1819

The main product I wanted to review is the Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation ($39 USD) — The claims for this foundation are:

This lineup of 50 shades with 9 shade intensities, 3 mastertones, and 7 undertones to dial in precise color match. The waterproof, longwear foundation feels like wearing nothing, thanks to a breathable, flexible formula that moves with you (all day and all night, up to 24 hours!). It not only feels better, it even looks better with its stay-true color, which minimizes the appearance of pores—so you always look like you.

My shade is 20CP, so it is light with a cool pink undertone.  It might be a little light for me, but I make it work with bronzer and blush.  I LOVE the finish of this foundation on me.  At 51 (yep), it’s important that I achieve a natural finish that doesn’t settle in wrinkles and pores.  This glides on my skin and makes me look flawless, but not like I’m wearing makeup. And it feels so light on (I hate greasy feeling foundation).  It’s so good and I’ve been wearing it everyday.  I need to start reviewing another foundation, but I only want to wear this.  LOL!

I also really love the The Ultimate Brush Off Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($36 USD)  — a finely-milled vegan powder that blends seamlessly to extend the wear of your foundation without adding any weight or texture (forget that old-school cakey feel). It sets makeup while absorbing oil and shine for a totally blurred-out effect, blending seamlessly without causing flashback, so you can take as many selfies as you want. Touch-ups on the go are easy thanks to the portable powder and its built-in, cruelty-free brush.

This powder is so good, it really is smooth and doesn’t cake at all.  I like using a sponge for my under eye area, but I do use this brush on the rest of my face.  It buffs in the powder and makes everything smooth and even.  I sometimes use a fluffier brush for a lighter application.  It’s lovely either way.

The last two items are lippies — Vice Lip Chemistry Lasting Glassy Tint in Pink Slip ($22 USD) and the Lip Plumper in Honey.

IMG-1820

On the left is the Lip Chemistry and on the right is the lip plumper.  Here’s more info about the lippies:

Vice Lip Chemistry is a vegan, high-gloss lip tint that reacts to your pH and creates a custom shade unique to your tone. Its lightweight, balm-like texture gives your lips a hit of hydration, so they feel moisturized. The lasting glassy tint adjusts to you; the color fully develops and reveals itself after just a few minutes and lasts up to 5 hours. Vice Lip Chemistry’s vegan formula goes on smooth and glossy (never sticky!) and does not transfer.

The vegan lip plumper gloss combines high shine with microfine, multidimensional glitter and a tantalizing scent. This formula has an almost-instant, refreshing tingly effect, creating fuller-looking lips minus that sticky feel. Caffeine, jojoba oil, and sunflower oil combine to give you smooth, intense shine with a cooling and plumping sensation.

My favorite of the two formulas is the lip plumper.  It’s a little tingly, but doesn’t hurt. It’s glittery, but will be nice for the holidays. It tastes like honey, too! The Lip Chemistry is cool.  It does change color and it feels really comfortable on.  I don’t think I will wear it everyday, but I’m having fun testing it out.

Purchase these at https://www.urbandecay.com/, Ulta, Sephora and other great beauty stores and websites.

Have you tried any of these Urban Decay products?  What do you think?

October 2019 Beauty Favorites

Hi all, Happy Halloween! Can you believe the first of November is tomorrow?  The year is almost over!

Below are my beauty faves for October. As usual, If I have reviewed them before, I will include the link, if not, I will link to where you can purchase:

IMG-1826

I was loving a fun mix of makeup and skincare this month!

IMG-1832img-1833-scaled-2560-e1572549615349-scaled-2560.jpg

This is the NARS Makeup Your Mind Eye & Cheek Palette.  I reviewed it here.

I use this every day for my bronzer and blush.  I love the blendability and shades. I haven’t used the eye shadows as much because I have so many new palettes I’m trying out. They are very pretty, though!

IMG-1829

I have really been enjoying the essence Pure Nude Highlighter again.  I haven’t used it in a while, and I brought it out for my October Shop My Stash.  It can be subtle on, or built up to really shine! And it’s affordable, too.

IMG-1827 Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in 015 Light is so nice!  I haven’t reviewed it yet because I’ve just started using it month.  I purchased it a few months ago, but the shade was too light for me in the summer. It’s very easy to blend and covers really well.  This really makes me want to purchase more Revlon makeup products!

I got the Kopari Lip Glossy in the Fall Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale, and it’s already almost gone!  It’s so smooth and hydrating.  I like to use it in the day and evening.  Definitely one I would repurchase again.

I wear my Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara over my Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer and my lashes look very long and don’t smudge!   The Thrive mascara is my favorite mascara discovery this year.  It’s so amazing!

IMG-1830.jpg

One of the skincare products this month I’ve been enjoying is the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream.  I purchased this in the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale.  I use it as my day eye cream.  It instantly reduces dark circles.  It does have a bit of an orange tint to it, and maybe that’s why my eyes look so refreshed when I use it.

I am almost out of the Purlisse Blus Lotus Daily Moisturizer.  I got it in my August Ipsy Glam Bag Plus.  I’ve been using it every morning and really like how hydrating it is.  Plus, it has SPF 30!

I was sent Primera products for review, and have been using the Miracle Seed Essence after cleansing and toning.  It is a light hydrator and preps the skin for serum and other moisturizers.

That’s it for my October favorites.  Bring on November!  What have you been loving lately?

Anastasia Beverly Hills x Carli Bybel Palette Review

IMG-1798.jpg

Hi all!  I hope everyone had a great Monday!  I’m here with a review of the new Anastasia Beverly Hills x Carli Bybel palette ($45 USD).  I picked this up in my recent Ulta points haul.  I saved up my Ulta points and raked in some free makeup — it was amazing!

I thought this palette looked so pretty, so I picked it up!

Here’s the palette open:

IMG-1799

Isn’t it pretty!  Such a lovely, feminine color story. I think these colors are soft, but with all of the metallics, you can make a really bold look.

The shades are:

IMG-1800

  • Boli (metallic champagne)
  • Bybel (matte reddish-purple brown)
  • Mandala (metallic/duo chrome light purple)
  • Libra (metallic goldish)
  • Jode (shimmer teal)
  • OA (duo chrome blue + purple)
  • Boie (matte ash brown)
  • Bear (Matte beige)
  • Moo (metallic light gold)
  • Chai (matte light brown)
  • *Cindy (matte bright orange pressed pigment)*
  • Stev (matte dark red)
  • Aura (metallic red pink shimmer)
  • My Angels (metallic gold)

Swatches:

IMG-1804

From left to right — Boli, Bybel, Mandala, Libra, Jode, OA and Boie.

Bali and Mandala are very sheer and glittery.  The are nice eyeshadow toppers, but I wish they weren’t so glittery, because there is so much fallout.  And another issue I have is that Jode and OA are so similar, I don’t know why Carli chose to do that.  It’s hard to tell in the photo, But Jode is more gray-blue and OA has more purple in it and a bunch of glitter –but  I don’t think you need both.

From this row, I do really like the mattes and the shade Libra.

IMG-1807

From left to right — Bear, Moo, Chai, Cindy, Stev, Aura and My Angels.

I am a fan of all of these shades.  The metallics are all gorgeous!  I’ve worn all three and love them.  And the mattes blend very well and are so pretty.

I am glad I have this palette.  The shades are good quality and look very nice on the eyes. And they are fun, but still neutral enough for every day wear.

Did you pick up this palette?  What do you think?

BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review — October 2019

IMG-1681

Hey all! I recently received my October BoxyCharm! This month there were so many different variations.

I’ve been subscribed to BoxyCharm for over two years now and really enjoy it. BoxyCharm is now $21 a month for 4-5 beauty items, most of them full-sized. Next month, in November, it increases to $25 a month. The value is supposed to be a little more, though.  There is also a new BoxyCharm Premium starting in November.  It’s $35 a month for 6-7 products. I haven’t decided if I want to try that one yet.  I might cancel my Ipsy Ultimate (review to come), and get that instead.

My version is 39. This month I received:

IMG-1670

Total — $140 — great for paying $21!

I am in love with this box!  Probably one of the best ones I’ve gotten in a long time.  The Touch in Sol balm was the item I chose this month, so I’m excited to use it.  I’m already using the lip gloss and it’s beautiful — not sticky at all.  I don’t think I’ve noticed plumping, but it’s minty and nice.

I’m really looking forward to trying the Illuminati sponge.  I’ve never heard of the brand before, but it’s soft and I wonder how it will feel once wet.  I’m going to hold on to it for when I need a fresh sponge.

The only product I may give away is the Tarte highlighter.  I don’t really wear liquid highlighter.

My favorite item of the box is definitely the Dose of Colors palette.  I’ve been wanting to try one of their 5-pan palettes.  Here is a close up of the palette:

IMG-1671IMG-1674

So pretty!  And the shades are so smooth.  Here’s swatches:

IMG-1676

All of these shades swatched really nicely.  I’m excited to use it!

I’m very happy with my box this month.  Next month will be a more expensive box and it’s also supposed to be worth more.  I’ve seen a couple of spoilers and it looks like it will be a great box!

Do you get BoxyCharm?  What did you get this month?
