Skincare Finds For Spring

Clear skin is essential for the warmer weather. I tend to wear less makeup as the temperatures rise, so my skin needs to look flawless!

This starts with clean skin, exfoliation and a great serum is needed, too! Below are some products I have recently been sent for my honest review. I love most of them enough to use often and my skin looks great!

What I think: I am very impressed with these cleansing cloths. Both really clean my skin well and remove all makeup, even eye makeup. The Exfoliating cloths have a rough side as well as the softer side. And it is pretty rough, I have to use it gently so it doesn’t harm my skin. My favorites are the Soothe cloths. They cleanse and soften skin. My skin is not dry after use. They are good for day or night use.

The Magic Pads ($19.95 USD for 60 pads) — The Magic Pads are the world’s newest and most revolutionary product illuminating the road to more perfect skin! What I think: These are amazing (and really affordable)! They firm my skin and help make my pores appear smaller. They also do not irritate my sensitive skin. I hope with continued use they will help with any little wrinkles I might have.

What I think: I like how light this serum is. It immediately sinks into the skin. But it has a very strong scent of alcohol, and SD alcohol is the first ingredient in the serum. So I don’t think I am going to continue use. I’m afraid to dry out my skin and the scent is unpleasant. But, if you don’t mind the scent, this is very light for summer months.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of April 4-10, 2016

I am enjoying this Spring so far (except for my allergies) — the weather is getting warmer and flowers are blooming! I love going outside and am thinking of planting fresh flowers soon.

What I think: I have this in the Warmer Bases palette. I love that there are large pans of shimmer and matte base because those colors are very pretty on their own. The shadows are well-pigmented and blend nicely. The Warmer Bases palette is great for smoky and dramatic eye looks.

What I think: The shade in the above photo is the one that I have, Golden Sands. I have light skin and this works well on me. The colors are light and so easy to blend. It’s a really soft, spring look. I think for the summer the Coral Glow would work better, because the contour is a little darker. There is a shade for almost everyone!

What I think: I received two palettes to try –Brown Eyes Basics and Pink Nudes. I LOVE the Pink Nudes, they are soft colors that look great on. The Brown Eyes Basics are a collection of brown shadows that I think would look nice on all eye colors. The base, eyeliner and highlighter are creams that are very creamy. A little goes a long way. The eyeliner lasts a long time. The lighter shadows need a few coats to get the perfect shade, but the darker colors are well-pigmented.

TIGI Bed Head For Men is a great line to help take care of your man’s locks. I was sent some products for my (husband)’s honest review.

Charge Up Thickening Shampoo ($11.50 USD) — This thickening shampoo maximizes body and adds volume while adding shine and not adding build-up. This formula will balance hair’s natural PH and moisturize your hair to its fullest potential.

Charge Up Thickening Conditioner ($13.50 USD) — This thickening conditioner volumizes and thickens hair while adding strength and moisture. Also aids in repairing damaged hair while enhancing shine and fighting static.

Power Play Firm Hold Gel ($16.50 USD) — For shine and precision, this fresh scented gel provides firm hold and light texture. Vitamin E Acetate provides antioxidants and free radical defense to protect hair from damage, while a Defender Combo blocks humidity and damage from UV light for a frizz-free end look with flexible hold and translucent shine.

What I think: My husband has been testing these products for a couple of weeks now. He really likes the shampoo and conditioner and says that they leave his hair very soft. He didn’t notice the scent, but I think it is very light and fresh. I think his hair looks a little fuller, but he will keep using it and we will see!

The gel holds well but isn’t sticky at all. It think it’s a great match for men who want to keep their style looking fresh all day!

My Beauty Favorites — Week of March 28-April 3, 2016

It’s definitely Spring in Kansas City. It is going to be almost 80 degrees today. Crazy! I am now enjoying wearing softer makeup.

This week, I am loving a gorgeous highlighting palette and soft matte liquid lipstick, a natural makeup set, and high-pigmented lipsticks:

What I think: I have the Pow Wow Powder in Strobin’ Glow. I love that their are 4 highlighters in the palette to play with. It gives a fresh, pretty look or you can strobe a lot and have a very glowy nighttime look!

The Permanent Pout lip paint is really pretty on and is very long lasting. I have a soft neutral called Pink Honey. It matches my skin tone well, but is a bit drying. That may just be on me. I know a lot of people love matte lip colors and don’t mind the dry-down. I’ll keep this for days that I want to try a bold look, but in a soft color!

What I think: This kit is an amazing value for what you get! I received the Air Perfection cushion foundation in Light. It covers so well and is easy to apply. I dip my foundation brush into the compact and smooth on my skin.

The eyeliner is a pretty rich brown. One end is a pencil and the other is a marker. I like using the marker on my top lid and the softer pencil to define my bottom lid. The mascara really makes the eyes pop, too. It’s a great volumizing mascara.

I like the lip gloss stick a lot. It feels really moisturizing on. But the color is a little red for me.

Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick ($5 each) — Warm up to the Spring season with a perfect pout of color. Hard Candy offers the latest lipsticks that are sure to make you smile. What I think: These are very light and moisturizing, but are also well pigmented. I have the Sly-lac (left above). It is very fun! My daughter did ask me why I was wearing a purple lipstick! Besides the wild colors, there are some pretty neutrals and brights that can be used everyday.

My very favorite of the three was the one I didn’t think I’d like, the Blooming Bouquet mist! I always think floral is going to be strong, but this is soft and smells like fresh flowers. I spray all over in the morning and it makes me happy. LOVE!

I also love the Sea Lily Jasmine scent. It’s almost like a green floral. The lotion is very fluffy, like whip cream, but it doesn’t rub or soak right in. It stays on the skin for a while before it is absorbed. If you are not in a rush in the morning after your shower, or if you want to use it at night, it should work fine.

What I think: The eye shadow palette is my new favorite. I use it daily and it gives gorgeous natural looks, that can be amped up for night time! The shadows have almost a creamy consistency, are well pigmented and blend really well.

The eyebrow kit is really great to take with you. I have it in Brunette and it works well with my dark hair. The blush is also portable and so pretty. It has a beautiful glow about it which is magical for the spring and summer seasons!

My second favorite item of the collection is the beautiful lip gloss. It is so shiny, and the color is natural. I think it would be beautiful on all skin tones. LOVE!

My Beauty Favorites — Week of March 21-27, 2016

What I think: I love this marker! I really need to color my gray roots, but I have been so lazy lately. This works like magic. I just “color” the grays with the marker, then comb the area with the little comb included. It is so natural looking and the Dark Brown color is a perfect match for my hair. It lasts until I wash it out and doesn’t rub off.

Hydrating Skincare For The New Season

I try a lot of new skincare each year, and LOVE it! There are so many amazing brands and products available that can change the texture of skin and help with fine lines and wrinkles.

The products below are my current faves:

What I think: Votre Vu is a French skincare company that I haven’t tried before. Both of these creams are rich and soothing. The Tragic Magic (great name!) cream is very rich, but not greasy at all. It is nice to use at night when my sensitive skin is irritated. The Attentive Crème is lighter and so nice to use every night. I wake up in the morning and my skin hydrated, clear and ready for the day!

Talika’s Bio Enzymes Mask ($13.75) includes Chamomile and Arnica, helping to soothe and heal the skin. It has a three dimensional structure to retain a very high concentration of active ingredients which are spread evenly over the skin.

It acts like a “second skin”. With alpine herbs, sodium hyaluronate and hydrophilic sugars, it restores dry, sensitive skins. After use, the skin is perfectly mosturized*, softened, soothed and infinitely more beautiful.

What I think: This is an interesting mask. It is almost like a gel sheet. When I placed it on my skin, it molded to my face. I left it on for about 15 minutes. After I removed it, I rubbed in the excess serum. Then I let my skin dry and afterwards it was very soft. It even hydrated rough spots on my forehead. This is fabulous for dry and dull skin.

I was sent a set in Light for my honest opinion. It also comes in Medium, Tan and Deep. I am loving this set. Here are the products:

Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination — This is a full-coverage, antiaging concealer that gives skin a beautiful lit-from-within glow! This concealer helps cover the look of imperfections such as dark circles, broken capillaries, hyperpigmentation, and redness. This covers as well as the original Bye Bye Under Eye, but it has a little glow, not shimmer, to it. This can also be used as a full-coverage foundation. I like to use it on my eyelids with the Bye Bye Pores powder over it as an amazing eye makeup base.

Bye Bye Pores Pressed — This silky, translucent powder helps optically blur the look of pores and fine lines! Formulated with anti-aging, skin-loving ingredients including peptides, real silk, hydrolyzed collagen and Bye Bye Pores Optical Blurring Technology, this powder is perfect for touch-ups throughout the day.
