LOVE ETC…A New Perfume from the Body Shop

LOVE ETC...Eau de Parfum

The Body Shop’s newest perfume LOVE…ETC ($29.50 1.69 oz, $24.00 1 oz) is a great gift idea because not only does it smell lovely, it is a really great value for a good quality fragrance.

The company’s website states that LOVE…ETC’s fragrance personality is, “A sensuous blend of Egyptian jasmine with warm, radiant notes of vanilla and sandalwood” and it is a floriental.

Notes:

  • Top notes: pear, neroli, bergamot
  • Middle notes: jasmine, heliotrope, lily of the valley
  • Base notes: vanilla, sandalwood, musk cream

I would call it a fruity floriental, because the pear and bergamot are the first notes that you smell and as it dries down, there is still a creamy, fruity scent along with the floral and spice.

I think this is a great scent for all ages. Younger women may be drawn to the fun, zesty top notes and the older ladies might like the spicy base notes.  I think it is very complex and pretty!

The Body Shop Fall 2009 Makeup Collection –Precious Pearlescents

I love the Body Shop’s makeup line. Their colors are always fresh and shimmery, without being too young and sparkly. Their fall collection is all about the shimmer.  From luminous eye and cheek trios, to metallic eyeliners to satiny lipsticks, The Body Shop’s Precious Pearlescents collection is a completely bright and fun line to color our Autumn.

The products in the collection are:

Colourglide Lip Color ($12.50) – This lipstick claims to offer vibrant lip color that moisturizes, glides on effortlessly and provides long-lasting color. I do think this lipstick lasts a while on the lips, but it is a bit dry for me. I love that it contains Community Trade marula oil from Namibia, natural sesame seed oil and organic Community Trade beeswax. It also has a nice Tahitian gardenia fragrance and vanilla flavor. The lipstick is available in a whopping 37 shades so you are sure to find the color for you!

Eye Trio ($16.00) — I love, love, love this shadow.  This shimmery trio comes in two color combinations, Moonlight Trio (the one I have), which is silver, green and lavender, and Sundown glow, which is beige, copper and chocolate browns. The cool thing about it is that you can use the colors separately — the silver is gorgeous as a lid color — or sweep a shadow brush around all three colors and you get an iridescent mermaid eye. Very pretty!

Blush Trio ($23.00) — This is like the Eye Trio in that you can use separate shades or swirl them all together and use as one blush. This soft, shimmering blush comes in Cool Dusk, shades of pinks and berries and Warm Sunset, shades of peaches and bronzes. This is a very light and pretty look that would work well at all times of the year.

Metallic Eye Definer ($11.00) – This smooth and blendable eye liner is infused with Vitamin E which is a protective antioxidant. The colors are Brilliant Blue, Vibrant Emerald, Shimmering Steel, Burnished Amber and Glowing Amethyst.   I really enjoy the soft shades of these liners as they are very versatile. I like using the Burnished Amber beneath my eyes for a subtle shimmer and the Glowing Amethyst on the top lashes for a smoky effect.

Spring Roses from The Body Shop Part 2 — The Moroccan Rose Bath & Body Collection

Happy Valentine’s Day! So he didn’t get you roses? Go get yourself some by indulging in the Body Shop’s Moroccan Rose Bath and Body Collection!

Notes:

  • Top notes: Rose, floral, spice
  • Middle notes: Rose, mimosa, orange
  • Base notes:Rose, cedarwood, vanilla, musk

Moroccan Rose Eau de Toilette (25.00 USD) — “A fresh, sophisticated and feminine rose fragrance that captures the beauty and romance of Valentine’s Day. ” This fragrance is very interesting. It goes on very rosy smelling and dries sweet and spicy! It is quite an unusual rose fragrance that took a little bit of wearing to get used to, but I really like it. Maybe if I wear it today, my husband will get the hint!

Moroccan Rose Body Butter ($20.00 USD) – This creamy moisturizer is infused with Moroccan Rose extracts that smooth the skin. It also contains Community Trade shea butter and Community Trade babassu oil; both ingredients that leave the skin soft and supple. I find that this is great in the winter when I needs thick body cream to moisturize my very dry skin.

Moroccan Rose Body Milk ($16.00 USD) – This is a lightweight “12-hour moisturizer” that comes in a pump. It is nice for a lighter moisturizer and will probably be fantastic when the weather turns warmer. This product is also imbued with Moroccan Rose and also includes Community Trade sesame, organic olive oil, and organic babassu oil.

Moroccan Rose Bath & Massage Oil ($18300 USD) – This lovely body oil is perfect for colder and warmer weather. It is very moisturizing and gives the skin a soft sheen after use (it will look great with skirts and shorts! Boy, I can’t wait for warmer weather) It contains Moroccan Rose extracts and Community Trade organically grown soya oil which is rich in essential fatty acids, helps to restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

Moroccan Rose Shower Gel ($13.00 USD) –  This shower gel is free of harsh soaps so it leaves the skin very soft after washing. It has Moroccan Rose extract and Community Trade organic honey which moisturizes and conditions skin.

Spring Roses from The Body Shop Part 1 — Roseflower Makeup Collection

The Body Shop has released a beautiful Spring Roses Collection that includes The Roseflower Spring Makeup Collection and the Morrocan Rose Bath and Body Collection. I am going to review these collections in two parts, since there are so many fun products included.

Roseflower eyes ($14.00 USD) comes in two colors Sunshine Gold and Mint Green. These colors go on as a wash of color leaving you with a lovely watercolor look. Don’t be afraid of the Mint Green, it is a very subtle color.  I have worn it to work and received compliments on my “pretty makeup”! The shadows also have an embossed shimmery rose in the middle of it, so not for the shimmer-shy, but also not too glittery.

Roseflower Lips $(16.00 USD) are available in Soft Pink, True Pink and Deep Pink. I have the Soft Pink shade which looks very pretty with the eye shadows and Fuscia blush. It goes on shiny and soft, and looks almost like a lip gloss. It is VERY moisturizing and contains, “Community Trade organic beeswax and marula oil from Namibia helps to repair skin’s moisture barrier.” Very good for a spring-y day look!

Roseflower Blush ($20.00 USD) in Fuscia and Pink is a very soft, blendable cheek color. I have the Fuchsia, which really brightens the face and gives you a little flush. As with the eye shadow, there is an embossed rose in the middle that adds a hint of shimmer.

There is also a Roseflower Radiance Stick ($22.00 USD), which is a highlighter. I have not tried this product, but the claim is, “The soft, velvety texture instantly transforms from cream to powder formulation on contact and delivers a sensational luminescent effect.”

All of the products from this collection is imbued with a very slight rose scent. And, these colors are perfect to bewitch your Valentine!

My Christmas List Part 3 — Bath Bliss

I love receiving bath sets as gifts. This is because of my great love for taking baths. I use bubble bath, body scrubs, any sorts of lotions and butters. I don’t have one favorite scent, either. I enjoy new fragrant experiences each time I take a bath.

I believe you can find fun bath products anywhere, from Target and Walgreens to Sephora and Ulta, there are many different price ranges to choose from.

But since this is my wish list, I am going to review three sets that may not be the cheapest (or most expensive), but that I would love to receive!

The first is Philosophy’s Warm By The Fire ($25.00 USD). This set includes a 4.0 oz Double Rich Hot Cocoa Shampoo, Shower Gel, & Bubble Bath; a 2.0 oz Melting Marshmallow Cream Body Soufflé and a 0.5 oz Ooey Gooey S’mores Flavored Lip Shine. I love chocolate and  marshmallows and the thought of bathing in this delicious sweetness…mmm mmm good! Sounds like a cozy evening to me!

Next is The Body Shop’s Warm Amber Joyful Times (sale price online $17.50 USD). This collection includes 1.7 oz Warm Amber Body Butter, 8.4 fl oz Warm Amber Shower Gel, 2.5 fl oz Warm Amber Body Scrub, Warm Amber Mini Votive, and a two-tone Orange Bath Lily. The Warm Amber notes are citrus, pear, orange blossom, ginger, amber, sandalwood and myrrh. Such a warm, winter fragrance, with a little spice. Very nice!

Last but not least is Bliss The Big ‘Orange’ ($28.00 USD). In this set you get 3.4 oz Orange + White Pepper Shower Gel and 4.2 oz Orange + White Pepper Body Butter. This fragrance contains blood orange, spicy white pepper top notes, and nuances of coriander and white musk. Sweet and spicy, just like us, ladies!

They say it’s better to give than receive. Whatever. Either way, you can never go wrong with seasonal bath gifts!
