Pur Perfection Starter Kit

Looking for to try quality mineral make-up for a reasonable price? Pick up the Pur Minerals Pur Perfection Starter Kit (35.00 USD).

This kit includes all you need for a flawless face:

Application of the 4-in-1 makeup is easy; you take the chisel brush, swirl it in the makeup then draw circles in the makeup lid. This ensures that there isn’t loose powder on the tip of the brush and that the application yields smooth skin. I brush it all over my face, and use a little extra under my eyes for concealer. Don’t forget to blend, because if not, mineral makeup can look a little powdery on and set into the pores.

After I apply the 4-in-1, I take a powder brush and dust the Mineral Glow bronzer on my temples, forehead, nose and chin. I then brush the Universal Marble Powder on the apples of my cheeks and my face looks glowing and pretty.

So if you’re looking for a new foundation, give this kit a try. You can find it at Ulta or visit the website at www.purminerals.com.

Jane Iredale Lip Plumpers — No Pain, Lots of Gain!

Jane Iredale is a line known for mineral makeup. I have been able to try some of their great lip products that have natural ingredients used to moisturize and plump lips.

Just Kissed Lip Plumper ($24.00 USD) – Is a cool mint and ginger lip plumper that also contains shea butter, sunflower oil and aloe vera to soften and hydrate the skin. It also includes time-released peptides that, “have been shown to increase hydration and stimulate collagen synthesis”. It comes in 5 colors, with my favorite being Tokyo, a peachy-pink color which will be very pretty for spring. I really love this products because it is like using a balm with color added. When I apply it, it tingles a bit, but is not painful and is very shimmery on. It keeps the lips soft all day, which is great for any lip product, let alone a plumper!

PureGloss for Lips ($19.00 USD) – This product is also a plumper with mint and ginger, but this is a shiny, full color gloss. It hydrates the lips like the Just Kissed with a glossy finish. It is made of a base of organic vegetable oils with added botanicals including extracts of green tea, grape seed and pomegranate. This gloss comes in 19 colors! I really like Apricot. It is a pretty neutral that makes my lips look full and sexy!

Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper ($24.00 USD) – This is my favorite of the three. One side has a brown sugar exfoliator that you rub gently on your lips, then can lick the sugar right off! Then, apply the tinted lip plumper with shea butter and peptides that moisten and plump. The color of the plumper is a sheer pink. It is a lot like the Just Kissed plumpers, but gives your lips a soft glow without a lot of color.

I really like the idea that you can plump and moisturize your lips at the same time. I think these products are great for women of all ages, but the 40+ ladies will really love the way they smooth the lines out and leave lips soft. Visit the website at www.janeiredale.com to learn more.

Pure Beauty? Pur Minerals Now at Ulta

Intrigued by my foray into mineral makeup (bareMinerals) a couple of weeks ago, I decided to explore the Pur Minerals brand that is now being sold at Ulta.

The first item I tried was the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup SPF 15 ($24.50 US). This is a very nice product. It is a pressed powder that glides on smoothly. It is made of, “pure mineral pigment ground to the smoothest texture and bound with soothing Shea Butter and Vitamin E”. This formula is good for my combination skin. It doesn’t cause breakouts or leave dry patches.

I also really liked the Mineral Eye Defining Pencil with Smudger ($16.50 US). I tried the Smoky Graphite pencil, a nice dark gray. This is a “state of the art, waterproof, smudge resistant eye color. Glides on easily and resists bleeding even when wet.” And it did stay on all day.

The third item I’m reviewing is the Mineral Lip Tint SPF 15 ($16.50 US) in Sandy Quartz, a pinky-peach color. The color is natural and pretty, but the feel of the product was a little dry. Some of the ingredients are Olive Oil, Mango Seed Extract, and Cocoa Seed Butter, so it should be a little more hydrating.

Another thing I really enjoy about mineral makeup is that after wearing for a while, my skin seems to improve. It becomes clearer and glows, even when I’m not wearing it.

I think the next time I try a mineral makeup it will be a drugstore brand. It would be nice to find a product that has the same benefits, at a more affordable price.
