I don’t know about you, but I love to use styling products to bring the best out of my hairstyle and to keep my hair shiny and frizz-free!

There are amazing drugstore and higher end products that style hair beautifully. So many to try and to love! I was sent the below products for my honest review:

L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Air Dry It Undone Style Cream ($4.99 USD) — L¿Oreal Paris introduces NEW Air Dry It from Advanced Hairstyle. L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Air Dry It Ruffled Body Mousse ($4.99 USD) — This rich, lightweight foam builds body, enhances waves and curls and provides hold.

What I think: This is the perfect collection for me, because I mostly air dry my hair. I have been loving the Undone Style Cream! I like using it on damp hair and I run my fingers through it. It dries wavy and so pretty, my daughter even commented on it! I have not tried the mousse, but I am going to give it to my other daughter who uses mousse every day. I will let you know what she thinks!

TIGI Bed Head After Party Smoothing Cream ($19.50 USD) — Smoothing cream for silky, shiny, healthy-looking hair! This lightweight cream combats fly-aways and works on any hair length or texture.

TIGI Bed Head Ego Boost Split End Mender ($18.99 USD) — This leave-In conditioner mends and protects dry, damaged hair from environmental elements, chemical treatments, shampoos and styling. Great for textured or damaged hair.

What I think: I love the bright packing of Bed Head products! Really fun! The After Party is so nice on dry hair to smooth it. I like to use the Ego Boost on my ends when my hair is wet, but it also can be used to keep flyaways at bay.

I think my favorite of the three is the Thickening Spray. I have fairly fine hair and it makes it look fuller and gives lots of fun volume! I love that it leaves my hair soft and not sticky!

What I think: I do get lots of frizz in the summer, and they products are an affordable and effective way to fight it. I love leave-in conditioner that also acts as a detangler. It leaves my hair so soft! The hairspray is great too, because it helps to keep the frizzies away! I do need more than one product to totally keep my hair soft and smooth, but this does help and holds my style.

I really love the serum, though. My hair is fine, so I just use a little bit on wet hair. When it dries, my hair is soft and shiny. As my hair ages, it’s hard to get manageable, youthful hair, but this really helps. It smells nice, too.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of August 14-20, 2017

Tomorrow is the Solar Eclipse! How exciting! Kansas City is in the path. But, I couldn’t find glasses, so I will probably stay inside and experience the darkness without looking directly at it. Then I’ll run outside and check on our animals (goats, chickens, rabbits)!

This week I have been loving a luxe new gel balm cleanser, a mascara that you shake and sandy nude nails:

What I think: This is a really fun mascara to use. I shake it before each use to freshen the product. It applies really smoothly without clumps. I use about two or more coats to get the length and volume I need.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy sandy nudes ($8.99 USD) — Color that cares while you wear. Intensive nourishment for healthy looking nails. Up to 10 days fade-proof, Chip-Resistant Wear. 9 out of 10 Women experienced a noticeable improvement in their natural nails.

What I think: I love nude nails all year round. They are fresh and classic looking. Color Therapy is one of my favorite polishes because it covers well, lasts for days and leave my nails looking healthy after removal!

I was sent the following products to test for my honest opinion. They are all affordable and perform very well:

No7 Youthful Vitamin C Fresh Radiance Essence

No7 Restore & Renew Face & Neck Multi-Action Serum ($33.99 (30mL) and $43.99 (50mL) -This serum has five clinically proven results for the face and neck. It adresses concerns of wrinkles, face firmness, and neck crepiness, and is targeted towards women in their 50s and 60s. The serum’s building block technology features the protein-strengthening ingredient Matrixyl 3000 Plus complex found in No7’s existing serum ranges, along with an additional complex of Calcium Amino Acids and Ceramides to help boost epidermal strength.

What I think: I always apply serum in the morning and evening before moisturizer, so I was happy to try this one. I haven’t been using it for long, but I have found that my skin tone seems clearer and smoother. I’m using it on my neck, too and it seems a little firmer. The formula is very hydrating and a little goes a long way.

What I think: This multitasker is a great combo of skincare and coverage. It’s sheer when applied, but covers really well and leaves skin smooth and with a subtle glow. It doesn’t look like I’m wearing any foundation! It also has SPF 15 to protect skin.

What I think: This mascara not only gives great volume, it curls and lengthens my lashes, too. This definitely gives a dramatic look!

What I think: All of these palettes and trios give a mixture of shimmer and matte shades to create pretty fall eye looks. The trios are fun because they can fit in a purse or small makeup bag and can give lots of different looks. The palettes are very pretty and have great color selections. The pigments are pretty good, they can be layered for more “wow”.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of August 7-13, 2017

It is getting hot again here in Kansas City, and humid. Our backyard is a swamp because it has been raining and the bugs are out, so I say inside.

This has giving me a change to try new products. My faves this week include two new breakthrough skincare items and a cool foundation:

Philosophy Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi-Rejuvinating Retinol+Superfood Oil and Pads ($75 USD) — the nighttime solution specifically formulated to help combat key signs of aging including lines, wrinkles, discoloration,

What I think: To use this product, pour the entire bottle over the pads. Then, this it to be applied every night after cleansing and before hydrating skin. After using, skin feels firmer and pores are visibly reduced. This is easy to use and really tightens skin and gives a youthful glow!

What I think: First of all, the product in the bottle is so pretty! This is gorgeous for morning and/or evening use before moisturizer. Once applied, skin is brightened and looks smooth and clear. This definitely makes you look younger!

Julep Cushion Complexion 5-in-1 Skin Perfector with Turmeric ($30 or $24 if you are a Julep Maven) — This multitasking skin perfector has a natural, demi-matte finish with buildable medium-to-full coverage that conceals, corrects, illuminates, blurs & brightens. The convenient cushion tip applicator allows for easy and precise application, even on the go. Use it to spot correct and conceal, or all over as a foundation.

What I think: This product is unlike anything I have tried before! I received it in my August Maven box. I have been subscribing for years (I usually don’t review the box, because I only get a couple of items in it a month).

This has a sponge applicator, which is not new, but the fact that this can be a full face foundation is, plus it dries down to a matte finish almost immediately. If is full coverage and really pretty on. You only get a few minutes of play because it sets too, and I have found that I don’t need finishing powder with it. There are 18 shade available, so there’s a shade for almost everyone!

Brand Review: Nia (Not Into Aging)

I recently was sent samples of a great new (to me) skincare brand called Nia (Not into Aging).

Nia was designed not only to stop early signs of aging, but to help skin withstand all the stressors that come its way like getting little sleep to looking down at your phone. The product include patented NIA-114 strengthens skin’s moisture barrier and keeps it radiant.

Here are the products in the line:

Nia Fully Charged Serum X Moisturizer ($39 USD)– This potent, serum-infused moisturizer is a supercharged dose of high-impact hydration and nutrients delivered in one simple, power-packed step. Formulated with skin optimizing NIA-114™, this lightweight, breathable formula strengthens the moisture barrier, smoothes fine lines, brightens skin and fights visible signs of aging.

What I think: I love that this is two steps in one. Especially in the summer when the humidity makes it uncomfortable to have too much on my face. The one thing is that this is a bit sticky on, especially the first time I used it. I shook it up the second time and it was much better. I can see myself using this every day for brighter skin.

Nia Fake Awake Triple-Action Eye Gel ($36 USD) — This triple-action gel is a power nap for tired eyes, instantly brightening, smoothing and de-puffing. What I think: I love eye products that brighten the eyes as they are giving skincare benefits! I do notice that my dark circles look lighter and brighter. The ceramic tip applicator is pretty neat, it does cool tired eyes!

Nia Glow On Demand Energizing Illuminator ($28 USD) — This unique, double-duty formula features a breathable matrix of light-reflecting ingredients that brightens and illuminates, restoring natural glow, while a fusion of caffeine and ginger instantly rev up dull, lifeless skin. Skin optimizing NIA-114™ rehydrates, soothes and smoothes on contact.

What I think: I really like this. It gives a really soft glow. I have been using it as a primer under my makeup. It smooths my skin so my foundation goes on easily and looks flawless. And a bit of the brightening shines through.

Nia Tech Neck Line Smoother ($36 USD) — The repeated motion of looking down at your phone throughout the day can actually cause neck lines. Keep your neck in check with this lightweight serum and on-the-go massage roller that glides on gently to instantly firm and smooth skin. Skin optimizing NIA-114™ + a blend of lipopeptides help reduce the look of horizontal lines and fortifyskin against Tech Neck.

What I think: I am pleasantly surprised with this product! I though it might be sticky like the serum/moisturizer, but it’s not. I love the roller, it feels cool against my skin. I can apply the product and help it absorb in once step. And my neck feels a bit firmer with each use.

Nia Wash + Glow Hydrating Cleansing Foam ($22 USD) — Wash away the signs of long days + late nights. Soothing, silky-foam cleanser removes makeup + impurities without stripping skin of moisture to reveal a fresh-faced, natural glow.

What I think: This hydrating foam cleanser removes all of my makeup without drying it out. It is easy to use and cleanse day and night. I like to keep it in my shower. My skin is glowing and ready for skincare and makeup once I am done!

Nia Sunday Deto Whipped Clay Peel-Off Mask

Nia Sunday Detox Whipped Clay Peel-Off Mask ($36 USD) — This first-to-market purifying foam-to-peel mask is a double detox for skin showing signs of a long week or epic Saturday night. Rich clay mousse draws our dirt and debris from pores to reduce the appearance of blackheads, then dries to a peel-off mask to lift away dead skin cells for smooth, radiant skin. Infused with skin optimizing NIA-114™ + exfoliating fruit extracts to reset skin for the week ahead.

What I think: This is a really fun mask! I’ve never used a peel off clay mask before and didn’t know what to expect. It comes out as a mousse and is a bit thin. I apply plenty so that I can remove it easily. It only takes about 15 minutes to dry down and peels off quickly. My skin is soft and my pores are clearer.

My Beauty Favorites — Week of July 10 – July 16, 2017

It has been so hot out! It is definitely the dog days of summer.

I have been loving the following liquid lipstick and nail polishes. They are both long lasting and fun for the summer:

I love easy summer hair. The best way to get it is when hair is hydrated. I received an Infusium leave in treatment to moisturize dry hair and a The Mane Choice curly hair styling product to maintain and create soft curls during the warm weather.

What I think: This fluffy pink cream smells delicious! It’s used on damp hair to define curls. A fun way to use it is to apply a little to towell dried hair and twist it. Then it will dry naturally into bouncy curls! That works nicely on my wavy hair.

What I think: the body cream is amazing! I applied it to my rough elbows and arms and the next day they were baby smooth! This is great for any areas of the body that is dry and rough.

The neck cream helps my crepey skin and firms my neck and chin. I use it morning and night to keep my neck firm and youthful looking. The serum is amazing, too. It’s more like a light cream and it makes my face soft and smooth. I use it every night and wake up with gorgeous skin!

What I think: These oils are luxe at an affordable price! They smell amazing with a light floral scent. The oils sink into the skin and leave it glowing without being heavy. I use the eye and hand oils at night as a treatment, but the face and body oils are also wonderful in the morning because they leave my skin with a soft glow. The face oil is nice under makeup, too.
