Redken Time Reset Collection

Redken Time Reset Collection

I think that anti-aging hair care is a brilliant idea. Although we can color the grays, we can’t cover the fact that our hair is getting dryer, more fragile and thinner.

Redken’s Time Reset Collection claims to help the following effects on hair from chronological & hormonal aging:

The combined impact of chronological & hormonal aging can leave hair with six visible effects that lead hair to become porous, lifeless, and extremely difficult to manage:
1.       Change in Texture
2.       Diminished Density
3.       Increased Dryness
4.       Surface Dullness
5.       Fragility / Breakage
6.       Gray Hair

“Most of us are well-versed on the impact of age on the skin, and less attention is spent on the effects of aging on the hair,” states David Cannell, Redken Research and Development Expert.  “Redken research has identified two main categories of aging hair: chronological aging caused by mechanical, environmental and chemical distress – the combined effects of these external factors can leave hair dry, sensitized and/or porous.  The second category is hormonal aging which occurs as a result of the physiological changes that women experience as they grow older.  This ultimately results in slowed scalp activity and the decline in melanin, the hair’s natural source of protection and defense against age-accelerating aggressors.”

“Everyone’s hair ages differently, some of us earlier than others,” explains Cannell.  “Below is a general timeline that captures the changes women commonly observe:
–          20s: Hair is at the peak of thickness and strength; Scalp produces ample sebum giving hair healthy shine
–          30s: Damage incurred during your 20’s becomes visible; Slight decline in sebum production can cause hair to lose its natural luster
–          40s: Diameter of hair shaft begins to shrink, resulting in thinner and more fragile strands; Decline in melanin levels can lead to emerging gray hairs
–          50s: Most women are 50% gray by the age of 50, caused by a steep decline in melanin; Follicles continue to shrink leaving hair finer and thinner around hairline and top of scalp
–          60s: Nearly 40% of women will experience some degree of hair loss by age 60, mostly around the crown, leaving hair thin-looking and lackluster.”

Although you can receive Redken Time Reset Collection treatment at the salon; the care is continued at home with advanced, age-fighting formulas that renew texture, enhance density, replenish moisture and shine, and help defend hair against free radicals for hair that looks and feels younger and more resilient from root to tip.  Time Reset at-home regimen includes Shampoo, Conditioner, Youth Revitalizer replenishing deep treatment and Corrective Defense protective softening lotion.

I have tried the Conditioner, Youth Revitalizer and Corrective Defense. I particularly like the Youth Revitalizer because in just 5-15 minutes of leaving it in then rinsing it out, my hair became softer and noticeably less damaged.

Kérastase Age Premium Collection

Kérastase Paris, a leader in luxury haircare, has recently launched the Age Premium Collection. This collection includes internal and external regimens designed to address the unique needs of mature hair and scalp.

Of course skin, eyes and bones aren’t the only parts of our bodies affected by aging — our hair and scalp gets ravaged by time, too. Hair grows in repeated cycles of various phases, anagen (growth); catagen (regressing); and telogen (resting).  As we age, the life cycle of the hair gradually tends to become deregulated and the amount of hair in the growth phase decreases. In addition, the production of the substance of the hair is disrupted, while micro-circulation slows down depriving the bulb of its nutrients. The hair loses density and becomes fragile, dull and porous.

This line includes oral nutrients as well as hair products. I was able to test the two products below — a shampoo and a hair masque.

Age Premium Bain Substantif ( $34.00 USD)

  • Gently cleanses hair with enriched anti-oxidant ingredients
  • Hair is left looking rejuvenated with body and suppleness

Age Premium Masque Substantif ($60.00 USD)

  • Features Hyaluronic acid, an innovative ingredient in haircare, which is widely used in skincare due to its exceptional hydrating properties
  • Hair is deeply nourished and recovers suppleness
  • Scalp feels soothed and rebalanced, and the feeling of tightness dissipates

I really love how my hair looks while using these products! I have noticed my hair is visibly thicker, softer and my dark brown color seems richer. My hair is dramatically better looking! I know I am a bit younger than the target audience — women 50+ and/or experiencing menopause — but I do think my fine, dull hair is in better condition since using the Age Premium Collection/

I highly recommend this line– it is worth the price! Visit www.kerastase-usa.com to learn more and to purchase these wonderful products.

Kerastase Hair Products Helps Hair Look Younger

Kerastase is a luxury hair care company that is known to create products to target specific hair needs.  I have tried two items from different lines; the Bain Age Recharge from the Resistance Age Recharge Collection, a lipo-replenishing Shampoo for dry, tight scalps and hair losing vitality and the Lotion Densitive GL from the Specifique Thinning Hair Collection, a texturizing and thickening after-shampoo spray.

Bain Age Recharge (250 ml $32.00 USD) – This is a oil-based shampoo that you message into your scalp and hair.  The active ingredients include, Vita-Refil Complex, morphofill and glycerol.  It leaves my hair soft and shiny and doesn’t strip down the color. It is supposed to bring back the youth to your hair, and my hair does look a lot bouncier and more vital since I have been using it.

Lotion Densitive GL (125 ml $45.00 USD) – I apply this spray to damp hair by starting at my roots and working my way down to the ends. It contains Complexe Gluco Impulsion, which includes vitamin PP, mineral molecules and a cooling agent. The website claims that it, “helps soothe and calm the scalp. Texturizes the fiber. Creates a volume effect.” It does give my hair more body, but my hair gets a little greasy so I only use a few sprays.

These products are a nice treat for my hair! You can check out Kerastase’s other lines such as Nutritive and Reflection at their website www.kerastase-usa.com. The products will give your hair a boost!
