Get Your Beauty Routine Ready For Summer, Part 1

I have been so lucky to receive lots of awesome skincare, hair care and makeup samples lately from so many different, fab brands to review for my honest opinion. So exciting!

The one common thread in these products is that they are a good change-up to my routine. Winter was so long this year, and spring very short that my makeup products haven’t changed much. But now that it is HOT in Kansas City (90 and humid) — I am ready to give easy, breezy summer beauty a go, while still looking and feeling put together.

For the rest of this week, I will review the products that I have been using and let you know why I love them so much. This post will include lovely skin care from Orico London, Stri-Vectin and summer-loving makeup from Gerard Cosmetics, Skindinavia and BeautyADDICTS.

What I think: I’ve been using this serum for about a week and am really enjoying it. The serum is a pearly-pinkish opal color, very iridescent and cool. I’ve never seen a serum like it. When it is applied, it is very sheer and gives skin a faint radiance. Since it is so light, it is perfect for the summer as it can be easily layered under moisturizer and SPF.

What I think: I have been using this cream at night-time as a treatment. It has a bit of a minty scent to it and it is a little thick, but not greasy. And boy does it work! I have noticed that my skin is so much smoother and even-toned. And my forehead wrinkles are smoother, too. Yay!

Gerard Cosmetics BB Plus+ Illumination Facial Crème ($36 USD) — Golden, radiant and healthy skin has always been a girl’s best summer accessory. Gerard Cosmetics by Whitening Lighting has recently introduced their newest product – the BB Plus+ Illumination Facial Crème. A twist on a traditional BB Cream, the BB Plus+ Illumination is formulated with light reflecting particles and golden shimmer to add dimension and a youthful glow to any complexion. What I think: This is a really pretty cream. I tried it on my cheekbones and my brow bone like a normal highlighter, and I liked it, but it was a bit sparkly for me to use all over my face. My 18 year-old daughter wore it all over hers and looked like a golden beach babe — oh, youth! So I gave it to her and she loves it! And I love that it has skincare benefits!

Beauty Products For the Warm Summer Ahead!

Hot weather does such weird things to my skin. It has been so humid in Kansas City that when I walk outside, I sweat (gross, I know) and it makes my skin oily. But exposure to the sun, even with SPF, can also leave my skin dry. So my skin needs a lot of tlc in the summer!

I was sent the following products for my hones review, and I’m glad I was because I really need them!

What I think: Loving this line! The exfoliating cleanser works really well on my sensitive skin. It doesn’t irritate it at all, but it does remove dry, dead skin. Both serums are really making my skin look younger: Pure Hydration Serum/Zinc calms my red skin down in the morning and I use the Intensive Repair and Protect Serum/Vitamin C at night to repair my skin — it glows in the morning!

What I think: I have been testing the cleanser and eye treatment. The cleanser is gentle, but effectively removes my makeup in the evening and leaves my skin clean, but not dry. I also love the citrus scent. The eye treatment does seem to brighten up the dark circles. I will use a little longer and let you know if I see a noticeable difference in a month or so!

Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturizer ($32 USD) — This pore-minimizing and mattifying moisturizer delivers immediate and lasting hydration while simultaneously balancing oily to combination complexions. What I think: Light moisturizers are so perfect in the summer! I love that this is a natural product. I like to use it at night over serum, but I also apply it sometimes in the morning with an SPF over it. I love the fresh scent and how it instantly absorbs into my skin.

Lumene’s Bright Now Vitamin C BB Serum ($21.99 USD) — This ultra-lightweight, pore minimizing, colorless serum contains light-reflecting pigments that add an instant glow to your complexion. The sheer finish Vitamin C BB Serum is completely free of harmful parabens and synthetic colorants, giving your skin only what it really needs!

What I think: This is an affordable, but very effective serum. It has the consistency of a light cream, but absorbs right into the skin and does not leave it greasy at all. It also leaves a subtle glow. I have noticed that my skin looks smoother, and used after my Dr. Jarts+ cleanser, my pores are very small indeed!

What I think: I have been using both products. My favorite has been the eye serum as it smoothes and de-puffs the skin around my eyes. What I think: LOVE this product! I have been using it over face serum in the morning as it moisturizes and is a great SPF. But the way it instantly evens out my skin tone is almost like magic! What I think: I have tried a couple of cans of this drink and I think it is an interesting idea — drinking your skin and hair care!
