Cool New Nail Polish Colors and Textures

Lately, I have been really into trying new colors, finishes and textures of nail polish.  I have been trying some really cool polishes, here are some of my favorites:

butter LONDON

Break away from the ordinary this fall and rock bold, unexpected colours with butter LONDON’s latest nail lacquer collection, Colour Clash.

Launching today on butterLONDON.com, the Colour Clash Collection is a chic, surprising new collection of brights and whites that are perfectly on-trend to take your look from summer to fall. The collection includes vibrant bright nail lacquers in Wellies, Pimms, Cake Hole, Silly Billy and Giddy Kipper that can add a much-needed pop of colour to any look. Ready to rock out in white? Sport a trendy white-nail with Cotton Buds, which can also be used underneath nail art to punch up any colour.

butter LONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador Katie Hughes notes that the Colour Clash Collection is “one of my favourite collections yet, Colour Clash is so fun and bold.”

What I think:  Butter LONDON’s new color clash collection is so different for fall.  Colors for the season are usually rich and dark, these are so bright and fun.  It’s feels like the fun of summer blending itself into the fall season.  In Kansas City where I live, it will be hot until about Halloween, so these colors seem so appropriate!

Nails Inc. Feathers Effect Nail Polish in Edinburgh
Nails Inc. Feathers Effect Nail Polish in Edinburgh

Nails Inc. Feathers Effect Nail Polish ($9.50 USD) This ultratrendy, long-wearing formulation features tiny feather-like particles in complimentary colors to create a quill effect on the nails. Perfect for adding a pop of color to your spring or summer ensemble, the unique feather bottle and feather print cap make these must-have shades for all. Wear two to three coats to build full coverage or apply directly over a base color for a smooth look.

What I think:  I love these feather polishes.  I have them in Edinburgh, a pastel orange and blue and Brighton, a teal and yellow textured polish.  I have used one coat over a cream polish and I have layered just the feathers alone.  Both looks fantastic and lasts a long time!

Essie’s The Art of Spring Collection

The Art of Spring Collection

I love the mixture of soft and bright colors that are coming this spring. Inspired by the colors from the Art-deco era, Essie’s new Art of Spring Collection is ripe with 4 pretty pastels and 2 fun, bright colors.

The shades in this collection are:

Lilacism — satiny smooth lilac

Neo Whimsical — rose plum

Pop Art Pink — sheer chiffon pink

Red Nouveau — fiery hot red pepper

Tart Deco — creamy coral

Van D’Go — ripe melon

I think these colors are so pretty and are making me wish for warmer weather so I can paint my toenails Red Nouveau or Tart Deco. I have worn the colors on my finger nails and really love the Neo Whimsical and the Van D’Go. The colors are soft, but unusual which makes them fun and easy to wear.

Essie Winter Collection

Essie Winter Collection

Tired of the dark fall shades of nail polish and want to lighten or brighten your nails? Essie’s Winter Collection ($17.00 for 4 pc. mini set or $8.00 for a single, full-sized polish ) includes pretty polishes to make the holidays more festive!

 The winter collection includes:

mint candy apple – creme de menthe mint
lollipop – candy cane red
rock candy – sweet treat pink
3 way glaze – all-in-one base coat, strengthener and top coat

I like all of the colors, but I think the Minty Candy Apple is so different from anything I’ve seen lately. It’s really fresh and pretty. The set would make a great gift or stocking stuffer for women of all ages!

Essie’s Spring 2009 Collection

For this spring, Essie has released a fun collection of six colors to suit every mood. The season’s fresh, flowy fashions (I do love alliteration!) were the inspiration for this line and it “captures the femininity of the season with a fresh, hopeful attitude”.

Here is Essie’s description of each color:

One of a Kind — poppy red kiss

Eternal Optimist — spiced tea rose

Mesmerize — royal va-va blue

Status Symbol — feisty hot pink

Flawless — cherry blossom pink

Lacquered Up — red hot crimson

My favorites are the Eternal Optimist which is a very lovely pinky-beige and One of a Kind which is a really bright red-orange. My 13 year-old daughter of course loves Mesmerize, which I wore the other day and she said it was cool on me! Awesome!

These polishes sell for $9.00 USD each. Essie’s website is  www.essie.com. You can visit it to find a store that carries the products or purchase online. Have fun!
