My Beauty Favorites — Week of November 28 – December 4, 2016

December is getting colder in Kansas City, and it might even snow a little this week! I’m so happy that it’s finally a bit chilly outside.

For my favorite products this week, I have been loving an effective eye treatment, a healthy snack and natural skin care. Here are my faves:

Brand Feature — Magic Candy Factory — Amazing 3D Printed Candy!

Kansas City has an amazing new candy invention to try! Magic Candy Factory has taken root inside of Go! Calendars, Games & Toys inside of Oak Park Mall. And it is so cool!

This is a 3D gummy candy printer. It prints edible words and shapes. Here is the machine:

The Magic Candy Factory is based on FDM (fused deposition modeling.) In this case, a special mixture of natural ingredients is heated up and applied using a nozzle. The results are different shapes and a unique choice of combinations which combine to create the custom masterpiece and are instantly ready to eat. The shapes were developed by the Katjes team with the help of 3D modelling software and turned into G-codes. The latter tell the printer where, at what speed and what frequency it needs to apply each of the layers.

The plug n’ play operating system guarantees quick installation and ease of use for the operator and consumer. This model also includes an important feature for the final customer. A camera is installed in every printer which records the printing process precisely. In e-mails, customers don’t just receive shipping confirmation after production, but time-lapse videos of their own personal treats in the making.

Besides enjoying the fun 3D shapes, the candy is so good! Natural Grocers Grand Opening In Liberty, Missouri

Today, October 26th, Natural Grocers had their grand opening in Liberty, Missouri. I got to check it out last night at an invite-only event.

I have never been to a Natural Grocers store before and was excited to attend. I learned that the chain has been around since 1955! Their Five Founding Principles are: Nutrition Education, Highest Quality Products, Affordable Pricing, Commitment to their Community and Commitment to their Employees.

It’s not a huge store, but it carries entirely organic products and a lot of vitamins and supplements. About a 4th of the store was aisles of vitamins! And there is someone there who can help with those needs.

I (of course) was most impressed by the fairly large beauty section:

It was so nice! There was a lot of makeup, skincare, hair care and body care. They carry wonderful brands such as Mineral Fusion (above), Burt’s Bees, Acure Organics, EcoTools and much more!

I even bought a facial mask:

This is a Instant Brightening Mask by Andalou Naturals. It is their Pumpkin & Honey face mask. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m going to this weekend.

We also purchased a few groceries:

We purchased free range eggs, root beer, bratwurst, delicious Thai Kitchen meals, chips, etc. Yum!

I definitely will visit this store when I am in Liberty (about 20 minutes away from my home). The vitamins were affordable, and I need to check out the beauty section when my husband is not with me (he he). The meats were a bit pricey, but they are organic.

I was sent Raspberry Lemonade and Strawberry Kiwi. I was surprised that both are clear. I am used to colored water drops. But since they are natural, it makes sense.

My favorite is the Strawberry Kiwi. It has a natural fruit flavor and doesn’t really have a sweetener aftertaste. The Raspberry Lemonade is good, too. I like to put just a little in my glass or water bottle and build it to the flavor I want.

I would purchase these again and might have to try the other two flavors as well!

Tea Time! Davidson’s Organic Tea Review

I was lucky to review samples of Davidson’s Organic Tea for my honest review. After heavy holiday coffees and hot chocolate, a nice cup of tea is a healthy and delicious alternative beverage!

I tried the following teas:

Sun, Moon and Stars Green Tea (Loose Leaf)

Mango Peach Ice Tea

Spiced Pear

Autumn Fruit & Flowers (Loose Leaf) ($9.67 sampler bag, 40-60 cups) — A festive caffeine-free blend of harvest fruits and flowers with autumn fruit and spice flavors, representing citrus peels, cranberries, apples, cinnamon, cloves and rosehips. What I think: I enjoyed all of these teas. My favorite is the Mango Peach Ice Tea. It is so refreshing! I can see myself drinking this during the day. I usually don’t drink soda often, and water gets a little boring. This is tasty and a lot healthier than soda!

The spiced pear is great for cold days. You can really taste the cloves. The Sun, Moon and Stars is a nice change from plain green tea. It’s very smooth.

I thought I’d like the Autumn Fruit & Flowers more than I did. It doesn’t seem like tea to me. It is rehydrated fruit and flowers, which is very different. I will try it a few more times to see what I think.

I just received samples of these and have tried the red. It is delicious! I’m not a connoisseur, but I like that I can taste some of the rich and smoky flavors, but it is not too dry. It’s a little sweet at the end, yum! I plan to try the Moscato over the holidays and am looking forward to that!

I love this. It is very easy to use. You don’t have to press down hard, it quickly removes dead skin from feet. Don’t forget to put down a towel underneath you when you use it, as dry flakes come off of your feet. Sounds gross, but feet are soft and smooth afterwards!
