Smashbox has recently introduced their Fall 2009 Reign Collection. It is described as, “a decadent color collection inspired by the rule of the English Tudors. Mired in salacious scandal and regal indulgence, the Tudor era epitomizes the lavish extravagance of the noble class. The luxe, sexy and indulgently sensorial collection provides a glimpse into the opulent lives of the traditional bourgeoisie with a decidedly contemporary twist.”
These are very rich, deep colors that are all created with the quality that one finds in Smashbox’s cosmetics. My favorites from the collection are:
Lip Gloss ($18.00) — This is a very pretty and non-sticky gloss that is available in one color, Crowned, a shimmery peachy pink. This will go with both warm fall and cool fall looks. It would be great with a gray, brown or purple smoky eye. Or just black eye liner and shimmery beige shadow will complete a lovely day look.
Eye Shadow Palette ($42.00) — This nifty palette is packaged in a regal leather-look compact. It contains 6 total baked shadows — 3 shimmer and 3 matte. It comes in two color combinations Majesty (matte and shimmer champagne, fuchsia and black) and Monarch (matte and shimmer soft gold, copper and deep brown). I like wearing the champagne as a base and the black as liner from the Majesty collection for a day eye, or using all three shades to create a nice smoky evening eye.
Doubletake Lip Color ($22.00) — This pencil is a lip liner on one end and a creamy lip color on the other. It contains vitamins C and E and lip-renewing caffeine and moisturizing wheat glycerides. The available shades are Currant (matte deep berry) and Amaretto (matte peachy pink). They both look great alone or with the Crowned Lip Gloss on top for extra shine.
The collection also includes a peachy-nude blush, a plum version of their Lash DNA Mascara, and a Jet Set Eye Liner palette of four neutral shades.
