Shimmery Summer Lip Products From Maybelline!

IMG_1373.JPG

I recently received some really fun lippies from Maybelline for my honest review.  I received shades from three collections, Lip Studio Electric Shine Prismatic Lip Gloss, Metallic Foil Liquid Lipstick, and the Lip Studio Glitter Fix Glitter Lip Gloss. They are all a very reasonable $8.99 each!

IMG_1374.JPG

The Lip Studio Electric Shine Prismatic Lip Glosses are my favorite of the three. This is  Maybelline’s first ever holographic gloss. Radiant pearl pigments combined with a water-infused formula create an iridescent shine for a multidimensional lip look. Available in 6 shades.

They are so pretty on!  They can be worn by themselves, or as lip toppers.  My fave shade is the middle one in the photo, Moonlit Metal.  It’s a gold and purple duo chrome.  Here are swatches:

IMG_1381

The shades are from left to right: Magnetic Ice, Cosmic Light, Moonlit Metal, Midnight Prism and Electric Blue. There is also a purple called Lunar Gem.

The first one is hard to see on my hand, but it’s a sheer pinky gold.  It’s a really good lip topper.  All of these are so pretty, but I can see myself wearing Magnetic Ice and Moonlit metal, and maybe Cosmic Ice.  I’ll probably give the others to my daughters, even thought they are gorgeous!

IMG_1375

The Metallic Foil Liquid Lipsticks are true liquid lipsticks as they dry down.  The shades are very neutral and almost look like cream eye shadows! . The water-based formula includes suspended metallized pigments that fuse to lips to create a full-coverage, second skin lip color and a dimensional end look. Available in 6 shades.

IMG_1378

These shades from left to right are: Zen, Trident, Luna, Calypso and Vortex.  They also have a dark purple called Nemesis.

These are pretty and swatch really nicely.  I only wear liquid lipsticks with gloss over them because I don’t like dry lips.  But I do really like the pink Luna and the rose gold Zen on me. I love the Magnetic Ice gloss over both of them! They will be really nice for the summer with or without the gloss.

IMG_1376.JPG

Lip Studio Glitter Fix Glitter Lip Gloss — Glitter is really hot right now, and is super fun for the summer. This gloss is carefully formulated with micro-fine glitters that adhere to the lips’ surface for a remarkably lightweight, full-coverage glitter look. One swipe is all you need for eye-catching sparkle that’s sure to light up any room! Available in 6 shades.

IMG_1384.JPG

These shades are Gold Boost, Pink Smoke, Steamy Nights, Shadow Hunter.  There are also two more, Spell Struck, a lavender and Wicked Tease, a dark purple.

This is a really smooth glitter lip gloss, not chunky or uncomfortable.  Both these and the Prismatic glosses are hydrating and not sticky. I don’t know how much I will wear these, but they will be fun to have around!

Have you tried any of these Maybelline lip products?

Drugstore Haul and My Ulta Birthday Gift!

IMG_1229

A couple of weeks ago, I went into Ulta to get my birthday gift, a min Nars Orgasm blush. I picked up a few other drugstore products (of course).

This is my Ulta birthday gift this year.  I think I’ve tried a sample of this blush years ago when it was first popular, but I haven’t tried it since them.  It’s really pretty on and perfect for the summer.

IMG_1237

CoverGirl Katy Kat Gloss ($7.99 USD) is a lip gloss created by CoverGirl Katy Perry. I have it in the color Cateloup. This claims to give shiny lips, but it is is moussey and shimmery.  I purchased it to wear over the L’Oreal lipstick, and I do, but it is opaque enough to wear on it’s own.  I like the shade a lot, and of course, the cat on the applicator!  There are 11 shades.  Most of them are brights, so this is probably the only shade I would wear.

Enhanced with an indulgent chocolate aroma, Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick Les Chocolats scented provides all day full, matte coverage.  I purchased this in Dose of Cocoa after I saw Youtuber Tati review it.  I love the formula and applicator, but the color I chose isn’t for me.  When I first wore it, my husband said I had blue lips!  It’s not blue, but it is very cool toned.  I do want to purchase this in a warmer shade.

Here are lip swatches:

unnamed (1) The L’Oreal one in on the left and the CoverGirl is on the right.

img_1230.jpg

Wet n Wild Megaglo Loose Highlighting Powder in Moon Tears. This was $6.99. I could only find it in my nearby Ulta store, and it was the only one left.  I got this because it has received rave reviews and is not easy to find.  I like it.  It’s really sparkly, thought.  I’m going to use it a little more, but might pass it on to one of my daughters.

img_1231.jpg

Wet n Wild Color Icon Baked Blush in Don’t Flutter Yourself.  This was $4.99 and it’s limited edition.  It’s a shimmery peachy-pink.  It’s a great blush topper and I also like using it on my eyes.

Swatches of the face products:

IMG_1236

At the left is the highlighter, the middle is the Wet n Wild blush and on the right is the Nars.

IMG_1238

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad in Flock Party — $2.99.  This is pretty, but not as pigmented as I would like:

IMG_1240

The first two are a bit light on my skin, but the other two look okay.  I’m still playing with this palette.  For the price, it’s a great deal!

I did not take individual photos of the Wet n Wild Perfect Pout Lip Scrub in Citrus Elixir ($3.99) or the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender ($7 for 4 oz), but I am loving both products.  The lips scrub smells and tastes amazing and the spray is so hydrating with a relaxing scent.

Have you picked up any fund drugstore products lately?

Pixi Beauty Minis and Lip Balm — Perfect for Travel!

IMG_1187

I love Pixi Beauty.  It’s luxe beauty at an affordable price.  I didn’t know that they offered mini sizes of some of their hero skincare.  I was excited to receive the following for my honest review!

Glow Tonic (15 ml/.5 fl. oz. $4 USD) — This mini miracle-working toner helps to brighten the complexion resulting in a healthy glow.  Glow Tonic is so refreshing and I really see a difference in my skin when I use this.  I especially love this in the summer.  My skin gets oily with the heat and stressed with the sun.  This brightens my skin without drying it out.

Mini Glow Mud Cleanser (15 ml/.5 fl. oz. $6 USD) — Travel-size version of our deep pore cleansing mud that gently exfoliates while purifying for radiant skin. I like to use this once or twice a week.  I have combination skin and this really cleanses it while keeping it soft and smooth.

Shea Butter Lip Balm ($8.00 USD) –Treat lips while giving them gorgeous colour with this multi-tasking miracle lip balm!

The shades I have are Sweet Peach and Honey Nectar.  They are pretty on, just a light wash of color.  And they are hydrating without being greasy. They contain Shea butter and Vitamin E. They are great to take on vacation because you get the double benefit of color and hydration.

These can be purchased at www.pixibeauty.com.

What products are you taking with you on vacation this year?

Fun Products For Easy Summer Beauty!

IMG_1283

Happy Friday!  I’ve received samples of some fun products for my honest review.  Some are new and some are new to me, but all are fun for the summer to some degree!

Ola Tropical Apothecary Body Mist ($14 for 2 oz) – The secret ingredient in Ola Tropical Apothecary’s Deep Sea Body Mist is…the water.  Found at 3000’ below the ocean surface off the Kona Coast, each Body Mist contains over 90 trace minerals, and is high in calcium and magnesium.  A few simple spritzes to hair, face and skin instantly hydrates and moisturizes.

I first thought this was like a body cologne spray, but it has a very fine mist and I read that it can be used on the face.  I have the Pikake, which smells like a Hawaiian lei, and the Passion Fruit.  I LOVE the passion fruit one, it’s one of my favorite scents. These are very refreshing and hydrating.

Hotheads’ Mini G Hairbrush ($9.29 USD) – Good things really do come in small packages!  The Mini G conveniently fits in your handbag, gym bag or travel bag.  Use it with your favorite dry shampoo to refresh tired locks.  It’s the perfect little brush to distribute your leave-in products before heading out into the sun.  Great for detangling after a swim, the Mini G also helps remove sand debris from the scalp and hair.  Finishing your day at the beach using the Mini G will reduce frizz and help create the perfect ponytail.

Mally Beauty More Is More Mascara ($20 USD) has a special brush designed to grip lashes and smooth mascara out to the very tips for exceptional length and definition. Has a rich, creamy, jet black formula. It took me a few uses to get a very voluminous look.  And it only really lengthens if I use a primer underneath. It is very black, though!

Mally Beauty Kiss Me Tinted Lip Oil ($27.21 USD for 3) — I received this in Crystal Clear, but you can get a trio including Crystal Clear, Peach Me and What a Melon. This is a conditioning oil that gives shine like a gloss, but it’s not sticky. It has a minty taste. This is nice when I want something on my lips, but don’t want to wear color.

Hard Candy Stroke of Gorgeous Colored Mascara ($5 USD) — Delivers intense opaque color that will not clump or flake. Maximum bristled brush helps give volume and length to all lashes. Available in 8 colored mascaras and two glitter top coats. The two shades I received are the glitter top coats in Disco Ball and Shooting Star.  Disco Ball has silver glitter and shows up more than Shooting Star, which has black and multi-colored glitter. These show up the best in the sunlight.  They are fun, but I will probably be giving them to my daughter.

What products have you been trying out lately?

Project Pan April-June 2018 — Second Update

IMG_1278

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!   This is the second Project Pan update for my April to June pan.  Just one more month to go! It has been going really well.  I started out with 12 products, but as you can see from my photo above, I only have 5 left!  I panned two in the first month and 5 more the second.  The first two products I panned were IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer and Bye Bye Lines foundation. You can check out my original post here and my second post here.

Of the products left, I am almost finished with the Philosophy Eye Hope eye cream and the the H2O+ day cream. I have only used the face mask a few times, so it’s still half full.  I really like it, but I always forget to use it.  So we’ll see!  The powder still has a lot in it and I have made a dent in the eye shadow.

Here’s what I used up:

IMG_1280

I used up my Ofra Cleanser, Neocutis night cream, Oscar Blandi Glossing Cream, Reclaim Botanical neck cream, and the Philosophy Snow Angel body lotion.  I am really happy with that!

One more month to go! I should use up almost everything. I’m learning so far that like I thought, skincare is much easier to use up than makeup!  I am trying to decide if I’ll do two more pans this year.  It’s a lot of work, but it is really satisfying using products up.

Are you doing a project pan?  How’s it going?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette Review

img_1132.jpg

I know I’m a little late to the game on this, but I basically always am. I didn’t  get Modern Renaissance until last December!

I purchased Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam a few weeks ago.  I have been on the fence about this, because I like variety of the shades in my eye shadow palettes.  I like to be able to create many different looks with one palette.  I thought this might be a little boring.

img_1137.jpg

When I saw this in person, I thought it was gorgeous!  The shades are so pretty and, very soft glam!

Swatch time, first row:

IMG_1171.JPG

From left to right, the shades are Tempera, Glistening, Orange Soda, Rose Pink, Sultry Bronze and Mulberry.

IMG_1172

This row is Dusty Rose, Fairy, Burnt Orange, Sienna, Rustic, Cyprus Umber, and Noir.

The shades swatch so well because they are creamy and so pigmented.  It is a lot like the Modern Renaissance formula.  There is a bit of kick up in the pan, but not a lot of fall out on the eye.  They are long lasting, too.

The only thing is that I seem to be creating the same look, even when I wear different shades.  I use a matte transition, a matte in the crease and on the outer edge of the eye, then a shimmer in the middle and inner part of eye.  It’s pretty, but getting a bit boring.

I will keep this palette for neutral, everyday looks and I am happy to have it.  I do like Modern Renaissance better.

Do you have Soft Glam or any ABH palettes?  What do you think and which is your favorite?

I still need to review the ABH Prism, my Too Faced Life’s A Festival palette (that one will be next) and more.  I also just purchased two BH Cosmetics palettes and got one free.  Those should be arriving this week.  So much to review!  Plus, I did a drugstore haul, have some PR products to review and just got my FabFitFun box.  I’m a busy lady!

I hope the rest of your weekend is amazing!  Tomorrow is a check in on my current project pan.  See you then!

New Pur Cometics Products For Spring and Summer

img_1065.jpg

Pur Cosmetics are one of my favorite brands.  They always are releasing new, fun and innovative cosmetics and skincare. I received these new products for my honest review.

This weekend, if you shop on their website you can get 50% off the whole site (except for the mystery bag).  I am going to give the retail price of these items, but they will be half that this weekend with the code MEMDAY50 on purcosmetics.com.

IMG_1077IMG_1078IMG_1080IMG_1081

I have wanted this as soon as it came out, so I’m excited I got to try it!  It’s the 4-in-1 Blush Book ($36) — This is such a cool palette.  It is huge and has four full sized blushes in it.  The pans are removable so they can be used in a z-palette. My shade called Passionate came a bit broken, and it’s worse now.  I have to be careful of the palette, I can’t throw it around!  But it’s a pretty color and I still use it.

The blush is formulated with vitamins and botanical extracts and is long-wearing.  Each pan has 3 complimentary shades. You can use them separately, or swirl them together.  Here’s swatches of each pan swirled together:

IMG_1090

From left to right is Honest, Passionate, Determined and Loyal.  I find myself reaching for Honest and Passionate, but Loyal is gorgeous, too!  I have to have the right makeup on to use that one because it’s shimmery and bold. Loyal is pretty, but a little deep for my skin tone. I think there is a shade for almost every skin tone in this palette. The blush formula is very smooth and blend well.

IMG_1070IMG_1071

This is a tiny eye shadow set called On-the-Go Eyeshadow Palettes ($14 USD).  You get both the Day and the Night palettes.  They are small, you can see the scale in the below photo as I hold the Night palette in my hand. IMG_1075

IMG_1073

This is the Day palette.  This feels more cool toned to me, but there are a couple of warm shades in it.  This is very work appropriate

IMG_1074

The Night palette is very warm toned. This can be used to create a really dramatic evening look with the bottom row, but the top row can make a nice day look too.

Here are my swatches:

IMG_1094

IMG_1095IMG_1096

This is the Day palette.  As you can see, the two shimmery shades are not showing up well on my arm.  But they do look nice on the eye.

IMG_1097

IMG_1099IMG_1100

These swatched better, and also look nice on the eyes.  The formulas of these eye shadows are very butter and pigmented.  There is not a lot of kick up in the pan or fall out on the eye.  They blend well, too.

I think these are very travel friendly and so affordable.  Plus, if you get the set on sale this weekend, it will only be $7!

IMG_1066IMG_1067IMG_1068img_1069.jpg

Now, to apply this fun makeup, I use the Essentials Brush Set ($39 USD).  These brushes are very soft and densely packed. The packaging and handles are a little industrial for my taste, but they are pretty cool looking.

Do you like PUR Cosmetics?  Are you picking up anything during the sale this weekend?

Target Sonia Kashuk Beauty Box Review

IMG_1107

Target always has amazing beauty boxes each month!  They had a really nice Mother’s Day one that had a mix of skincare, hair care and body care products.  But I was so interested in trying this Sonia Kashuk beauty tool box.

IMG_1108

Here’s what was in it:

img_1109.jpg

IMG_1111

Sorry that my photos are so dark!  I’m going to work on a new photo taking set up this weekend, so stay tuned!

This box was $10 and is no longer available.

The Products:

  • Blender Sponge
  • Professional Angled Eye Shadow Brush
  • Essential Blush Brush
  • Slanted Tweezer
  • Quick Dry Brush Cleaning Wipes 3 ct
  • $3 off Sonia Kashuk purchase of $15 or more

IMG_1115IMG_1117

These brushes are gorgeous and so soft! They are the Sonia Kashuk Blush Makeup Brush ($9 USD) and the Sonia Kashuk Angled Eyeshadow Makeup Brush ($13 USD).  Both are high quality at an affordable price.  I love the gold accents and the very soft and densly packed bristles.

The blush brush works well for blush, contour or highlighter.  The angled brush is pretty large for using in the crease.  I tried it and I think it’s best for applying a base colored shadow all over the lid and maybe a shade on the lid.  Or, for blending shadows together.  I did put my crease color on the edge of the brush and applied it that way.  So it’s pretty versatile.

IMG_1113IMG_1118

I love the marble pattern on this sponges.  It’s the Sonia Kashuk Makeup Blender Sponge – Marble ($7 USD).  I haven’t used it yet, but it is a pretty solid sponge.  I’m sure it will soften once wet.  I’ve been loving an IT Cosmetics brush (watch for my May faves) for applying foundation, but I do like using sponges.

img_1114.jpg

Sonia Kashuk Slant Tip Tweezers ($10 USD) — Tweezers are so useful, and these are the price of the whole box!  I think I’m going to save these for my daughter.  She’s going away to college in a few months and I’m putting together a personal care box for her. I think the gold is really pretty, too.

IMG_1112

Sonia Kashuk Quick Dry Makeup Brush Wipes ($9 USD) — I’ve tried one of these in a past Target beauty box and it was nice.  It’s good for giving brushes a quick cleanse or switching colors while doing my makeup.

All in all, I really liked this box and think it was well worth the $10 price.  I will use almost everything.

Did you pick up a Target Sonia Kashuk box?  Or, have you tried any Target Beauty Boxes?

Project Pan April-June 2018 — First Update

IMG_0956.JPG

Hi all!  This is the first Project Pan update for my April to June pan.  It has been going well!  I started out with 12 products, but as you can see from my photo above, I only have 10 left!  I panned two.  You can check out my original post here.

Of the products left, I am almost finished with the Reclaim Botanical neck cream, the Philosophy Eye Hope eye cream, the Ofra Cleanser and the Neocutis night cream.  And maybe the H2O+ day cream.  I’m also doing well with the body lotion.  The eye shadow, powder, hair cream and face mask weren’t used as much as the other products.  I have to make a point to use those more this month!

Here’s what I used up:

IMG_0955.JPG

I used the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer and Bye Bye Lines foundation.  Plus I have two empties that I didn’t include in my haul — the IT Bye Bye Pores loose powder and the No7 Early Defence Serum.  I used up my Bye Bye Pores before I really dug into the Fit Me! powder, but now I am using it exclusively.  The Fit Me! had more in it than I thought.  There is a lot in the container!

Two more months to go! I should pan more products by the end of May  I love doing these because I’m forcing myself to use my skincare and other products.  And I can tell that my skin looks better for it!

Are you doing a project pan?  How’s it going?
